[SU/Discussion/Brainstorming] - Have Party, Will Travel

Due to me swapping char I dont think I will be posting with Seth until the next arc starts. I'm still in this RP, just not as Seth.
I need to develop that char more before I use him again. The new one I am dragging in is one of my better chars.

So yes....
That is the reason behind my lack of activity as of late.
Please to easy on me.... I did a poor choice!

So yeah, absence. While I've been able to chat with Phoebe about the RP and, I admit, even found the time to play some Guild Wars or Sanctum with her, the bulk of my last few weeks has been spent on the following.

1. Work. Even if I don't get the full 40 hrs per week, I work my damndest to make sure that I can get as near to 40 hours as I can. Tack on my roughly 2 hour commute via bus, and that's at least 50 hours of my week which is spent outside of the home directly related to work.

2. Job Searching. As I have recently received the Oxford Seminars TESOL course (100 hours! YAY FOR AWESOMENESS!), I am pursuing my life's goal of being a teacher. My next step: find a job as an ESL teacher. At the moment, I'm working towards a job in South Korea, perhaps Dejeong or Jinjing (...I think). I'm working with some recruiters and have even gotten an interview (fingers crossed!). This generally takes up about 20 hours in my week, and has to be done at home.

3. Novel Writing. I'll be frank: if I could, I would be a full time writer. But being a full-time writer doesn't pay the bills, so I have to settle for juggling this in as a tertiary priority after work and finding a job. It's coming along rather well; I hand-write my outlines, and sometimes even my chapters, so that I can be much more involved with my work. It takes longer, but this way I really feel like I'm connecting with my characters, and they are hypothetical living breathing things that develop on their own; I just record everything. As an example, my character Phoebus began as a sort of RL Expy of ElvenAngel (a.k.a. Phoebe), who you all know I'm good friends with. But he's developed into his own thing, and now he's actually rather unlike Phoebe. And as an example of exactly how much they develop on their own, I would like to point out that Phoebus began as a heterosexual character with some very shallow characterization, but has developed into a character who I spend a great deal of time growing, and who is a homosexual...but you'd never know unless I told you, or until later in the book when he and his love interest begin to be less subtle about their attraction. But I don't have the time to really write all that in as much as I'd like, because I'm spending it all doing everything else! GRAGH!

Oh, and it is a children's novel, FYI. I'm firmly of the opinion that as long as there's nothing explicit, non-hetero relationships are just as suitable for children as heterosexual ones.

4. Christmas Shopping. Oh. My. Gawd. So many people to buy for, and so little money to spend Q.Q And to top it off, I can't find Guild Wars for my friend Katharine ANYWHERE. It's looking like I'll just have to give her money and say, "I wanted to get you Guild Wars so we could play together, but I could never find it. Here's some money if you'd like to get it online, or possibly get something else." And that...makes me look like a total fucking prat. But this is the other major time consumer.



But yeah...I have very little time to myself, and generally when I'm not doing the above, I'm out with my friends or I'm playing GW or something, and with some notable exceptions I tend to be on for only an hour or so at a time. So these are my excuses, and I'm stickin' with 'em! :jon:
 
I can't really give any other reason aside from pure laziness, and working on a rp of my own. I know it isn't anything forgivable and all that jazz, but I am gonna try to be more active. :c Might also have to put my second character on hold :sad3:

Since the Graphic's Clan's are on a hiatus I don't have alot of stuff to make or stress over,I am Playing a Gundam MMO so I spend alot of time on there climbing the rank's but I'm checking in everyday to make sure I don't get killed off :/
 
Yes, yes, Jon, we know yer busy. And get her Guild Wars through steam, simple as that. Then introduce her to me and Jason and the circle of corruption will begin again. :)

BTW I can't believe you're surprised at Phoebus' development. He's just doing what most character that have ever had any relation to me do, having fun. And in case someone's wondering, I don't care he's gay. I'm bi anyway. C:

Laziness...I can somewhat excuse because things have gotten slow. But just remember to check back every now and then.

EVERYONE, HERE IS AN RP UPDATE!

Basically, at this point in the RP, everyone is getting a bit of freedom to gather up the stuff they need, see people they want to see, etc. Think of this as the supply point between quests in a game -- prepare your characters for the uncertain trials ahead as best you can!

No problem Zipper, things are slow right now with school starting back up. I'm sure you'll have time to get on and post when needed. Thank god this isn't an RP that has 25 posts per hour!
 
I was just wondering two things in relation to this Roleplay:

1. Any guess on when I'll be able to get my character into the RP?

2. Should I read over the Rp thus far to get a feel for the characters???

1. YES. I definitely think you should read up on the RP just so you know who the chars are, how they operate, and get an overall sense of the humor of the setting. This RP is kinda like TVTropes, sarcastic and witty and highly entertaining. It doesn't take itself too seriously. Also, it may help you avoid some landmines.

2. You may want to think about how you're going to introduce you character. Do you want to introduce him/her in a battle? Through a random encounter? Your entry to the party at this point can say a lot about your character. Think on how you want to best introduce you character and tell it to either me or ElvenAngel and we will get you into the story ASAP.


Which reminds me....

HEY, EVERYONE ELSE! YOU SHOULD BE POSTING ALSO! GET YOUR CHARACTER'S HAPPY ARSES TO THE GATE, OR ELSE WE'LL BE WAITING ON YOU!
