I'm sure that, by now, a number of people have noticed how sexually orientated the shoutbox is becoming. It's been noted several times that it must be almost inconcievable for new members to believe such discussions would take place in an RPG-orientated forum, to which one new member from yesterday can attest. xD

After someone left the shoutbox earlier, calling it a "Men's Room", I recalled that a site on which several of the members from here were registered had two forums; one for the men and one for the women. Hopefully, Mandi, Mark and anyone else registered to FFH during its activity will remember of their existence.

They were rather popular, as I recall. They were mainly there for the guys to talk as guys would amongst one another, and the girls to do the same, away from the main view of the forum. At the same time, people asked for advice and there were a number of serious discussions in those parts of the forum.

Taking everything into account, how does everyone feel about implementing two similar forums here? The rules for each forum could be as relaxed or as strict as the moderators feel would be acceptable, if that makes any difference to anyone's thoughts. I'm just throwing this out there just now to see what the response is like, so I'm not desperate for it to happen or anything. I can just see a large number of people voting in favour of this.

Thanks for your time. :gmonster:

I dont use the SB at all but its kinda entertaining to read what kind of perverted things you guys talk about, ill just vote in favor of it to help the cause. =)

Nah, I can't say that I'm in favour of this idea. It just seems.. stupid. >_> I personally have no desire to talk about 'girl things' and... To be honest I can't really think of much reasoning, I just don't like the idea at all. o_O

Sounds like a fantastic suggestion. I'm in favour of this if it gets certain people away from the SB and the Spam Coliseum. Always filling them up with "BAWWW! no secks for me1 BAWWW!!1" and the like just gets annoying. ><

Plus, it'd be one more place for the lads to talk football. :monster:

Ohhh, I remember that. 'Twas fun to have it! Of course I'll vote for it! Men and women have issues to discuss privately, remember.

I'm...not sure what to think. On one hand, it sounds like it would be fun, but on the other it could create more problems than it would solve. It could be a spammy post count area, and what if it was really popular and ended up flooding that statistics? Half the members of the forums wouldn't be able to access half the threads. I can see that becoming really annoying really quickly.

I don't see the point personally, but I never experience it on that other forum, not being a member an' all :wacky:

Oh I dunno >_>

Just seems avit of a shit idea, but I'm all for giving it a go I suppose <_<

They should be an 'iunno' option -__-

Great idea. A place for the lads to talk about Beer, Football, Garden Sheds and which female FFF member has bigger balloons....go for it!
They had this idea on a forum I used to post on a few years back and it kinda worked.

SB will still be dirrty as ever but it might help abit :wacky:

That's why you could be as strict or relaxed as you like. Besides, it's only a number. xD

I suppose, but that happened with Survivor and it's happening now with the Clans. The women wouldn't get to see the men's forum but they'd get their own forum out of that.

I haven't considered many of the finer details - like I say, I'm just putting it out there to see what the response is like. ;p

Seems a bit pointless. We'll still talk about such issues in the SB.

Bearing in mind FFH was a much smaller and more intimate message board, and the members were all familiar with one another. Note also the general age-group of the member base within said forum.

I can't see the upper-tiers agreeing with any kind of subjects that would eventually relate to people conveying sexual stories, and all else is perfectly acceptable in the general vicinity of the regular forum anyway.

As far as the statistics showing the latest posts in these proposed sections, these can be hidden. Not sure how, but it's been done in the past; as such doesn't strike me as an issue. However post-count enabled or not, it's simply one more place on the board to flood with meaningless spam and similar textual dribble.

Ultimately, I personally deem this a strikingly pointless concept; I voted no.

Really? We have 12 year olds on this forum. I vote no because sexual discussion, males only discussion, females only discussion shouldn't be the business of the forum.

If you want to prevent the SB from being so one-sided then I recommend stricter rules on the SB.

As it stands the SB is a pointless way for spammers to congregate, spam the forum back to the stone-age and deter new members from posting. Some stricter rules could do it some good, because after all, if you gents need the perversion in your life I recommend using the wonderful messaging systems. Instead of, you know, cluttering up a forum that targets a younger age group with derogatory messages.

Want to polarize the forums more than the SB already has? No thanks.

The forums in question could always be password protected, though and, if a 12 year old wanted to get into that forum and we thought that'd be unacceptable, he's going to find out about it elsewhere. Again, I'll stress that the forums could be as relaxed or as strict as the staff wanted it to be.

The intention of these new forums would be purely for pleasant banter and I wasn't expecting anyone to get so upset over the notion, so I'll apologise for contributing to that.

Of course, at the end of the day, it's always easy just to stay clear of them, if they were ever to be created.

I'm more disheartened by the assumption such a forum would make. Does fff want to needlessly engage in MORE banter?

What is to be gained by providing a haven for even more unproductive spam?

*I need to turn off my angry sounding internet voice...I'm not angry ever...*

Meh, that's what the Spam Coliseum's for. I don't see the point in making a separate bit for each gender. Most the time I'm in the SB I'm usually talking to guys or mostly guys anyway, and I don't have a problem with that. o_O

Personally I've seen no complaints from anybody about what's being discussed in the shoutbox. The shoutbox is open for people to engage in conversation with one another, whether it be meaningful or unmeaningful, why does it matter? What's the point in having stricter shoutbox rules? It's all in good fun anyway. It's not like people are actually going in and having e-sex or flaming each other. It's just humorous and enjoyable. I don't see any reason for needing stricter shoutbox rules other than what we have now. Until I receive actual complaints from members, nothing is going to change in the shoutbox. It's going to stay as it is and the members can discuss things if they want. Unless you have some kind of relevant proof that people have been complaining about what's being in said in there, then it stays as is.

Another thing, if there are younger members who are complaining or don't understand, we could always just make a section in the Spam Coliseum for the older members of the forum? It's just a suggestion. I don't really like it to be honest...but that's my take on it.

I'm not really in favour of it. If you dont like what gets said then dont take part in it. Simple

It seems over complicated to have 2 new forums, all for what...because some newcomers dont like whats get said...to be more than honest, half the new members that come here dont actually stay in FFF for over a 2 months. It sounds cruel to say it i know but it is the reality.

You cant please everyone, plus it just sounds wayy to complicated and not to mention pointless in the long run. Also its not as if they're not gonna hear this kinda stuff when they do eventually get older...

I know this idea seems fun and all, and I do remember it implemented on FFH and quite enjoyed it. However, there are other issues that must be considered and truthfully, it would cause quite a bit of a stir from members (old and new alike).

One, there is the issue that not all members make it known to the public what gender they are. One can easily lie to obtain a password in one area just to see "what's up". That would completely defeat the purpose of a "gender private forum".

Then of course, distributing the passwords. That may seem a little too tedious, to be honest, unless members are okay with PMing passwords left and right to those who ask (but again, we can't really be positive if a member is female or not, especially if or she is new to the forums). One can easily create accounts stating a particular gender just so they can enter this private forum - a Peeping Tom, if you will. :wacky:

Then there's the password-protected issue as well. Yes we have it for the GFX Clan but we really would like to limit it to that since we do have members asking "Why can't I view this thread?!" and to add more password-protected forums won't really help. Of course, this might not be a problem if the threads are to be hidden in the Statistics, but still, I just think the idea is kinda unnecessary overall, even though I think it would be extremely entertaining.
