Helvetica Standard: Wind running through the hair
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind ripped through Helvetica's hair as the night sky flew past along with the cheers of crowd and the flash of cameras. The flim flam and distractions were completely blocked out as this was element. It wasn't until the initial adrenaline of being able to fly did she realise that video cameras trailed behind each pack of racers. It wasn't that surprising given that this is a massive money making event for the Satos. If there was no cameras, then the stand sitters were just going to be twiddling their thumbs after the racers went by. As her attention was directed at the floating contraptions, a familiar figure pulled up next to her and almost on instinct, Helvetica almost swung a full powered prosthetic at them.
"You're so fast! I can can barely keep up! I never thought I'd run into you again."
Oh! Hello! That was close. Almost clobbered you. Good to see ya. Never got your name anyway. Name's Helvetica. I know, an odd one. You?
Helvetica had the distinct advantage of this being her home court in a sense. This was her birthplace and she knew the streets and non-paths like the back of her hand. The curves and dips sent shivers down her spine as she leaned and powered through the bends. However, what got her pumped was the massive dip ahead. Never has she ever gone down this dip since it was too heavily patrolled and surveillanced by authority for her to go anywhere near fast enough to her liking. Now, there was no limit. Their current situation was couldn't be more suitable for her to go as fast as she want as right behind them, two large humanoid robots came rumbling down from behind. It swatted riders aside brutally and without remorse, leaving limp and lifeless corpses along the path.
Ok. We definitely cannot get caught by that. Use the dip and lets gain some distance.
As Helvetica dipped over, she let out a loud whoopee which echoed and bounced off the tunnel walls before launching herself into the air, letting gravity to increase her speed and distance before she landed smoothly along the incline of the road, avoiding a nasty thump and jarred knee and pushing her Sonic to its utter limit. Her old pair would have broken down by now, but this one was holding just fine
Nathan Stokes: Skater.
2-wheeled skates:
Mod 1: B- Speed Boost
Mod2: B- Cloak
Tesla Cannon: Full clip (– 1)
------------------------------------
The rush set in, the euphoria was intense. Nate had finally set off from his bounds and into the race- the death decathlon. His heart slammed inside his chest, those ankles of his pounded his heels into the dedicated track and; with the wisp of a zoom, Nate was off. He’d decided to compact his body ever so slightly, with any flayed limbs tucked into the central area of his chest. Without a doubt, Nate knew he’d need to gather some momentum before he could launch any sort of offensive.
Obviously, the young man had already known the drill from the get-go: the first riders on the track weren’t (usually) the sociopathic bundle of rapists and murderers, but the regular contestants instead. He wouldn’t be exactly swimming in the problematic. He’d no reason to suspect anything else. There’d been droids introduced before- Nate certainly knew they existed- but he didn’t whole heartedly believe the organisers would introduce them this early.
Needless to say, however, Nathan was on his guard. The Tesla firmly stuck, strapped and locked securely to his arm. It was now in an easier to manage “stored” mode- the barrel and blade sections and parts locked away in a reactive mode- a cocoon like shape on his arm. This helped quite significantly with Nathans balance.
As the race continued and the participants poured forward, Nathan slowly stepped his way up the leader board. His precise control of his Sonics was near-perfect: any unnecessary leg movements, body sways… It’d be near damned impossible to find fault in his technique. It was almost like Nathan and the skates were one- a whole being- in sync. It would be hard not to confess that even Nathan was relaxed. This was what real sport was about- enjoyment, new sensations…Not bloodbaths and tramples.
And then, the almost cathartic sensation was ruined, soiled. A mechanical agent of Death himself had come from behind, the chainsaw blade of his aimed to directly bisect our favourite skater. Nate had just enough time to hear the roar of the saw, the rushed change in the wind. He spun counter-clockwise, the blade just passed the edge of a middle vertebrae. An inch closer, and his spine would’ve been severed.
“Oh fuck!”
Nate screamed, as his body took a tumble, and his brilliant start came to an end. Was he already finished before the race even truly begun? Of course not. With the hint of a smirk, Nathan flicked a switch on his Sonics. Time to use a mod. Perhaps it was early, but- with each passing racer- the danger increased. Utilising a crouched start, Nathan launched himself forward with a new intensity- he headed straight for an angular section of rubble; a makeshift ramp. It was about 200 metres away.
But, Nathan cleared this without much of a problem. He whispered into a small microphone, wirelessly connected to his skates. The secret weapon was to be unleashed. He crouched down into an aerodynamically smaller position, as his skates reacted to his call.
“Mod 1: activate”
And without a skipped beat, the acceleration increased substantially and his current speed almost doubled. He hit the ramp harshly, but left it with near-angelic grace. Nathan was flying… Or was it falling with style? All he knew, was that he’d cut out a section of the track- and a portion of his rival racers- with one swoop.
It was from this vantage point- Nathan considered- that he could see where the race would take them. He spotted a duo of women headed towards a section of track that just happened to be in the direct path of his landing spot. An idea already sat in his mind; time to make some allies.
Nathan switched his posture into one much more suited to landing; with crouched knees and a readied roll shape incise the impact with awry. Luckily, it did not… But the mess of droids he landed himself into was. He followed the trail of death into the tunnel, as two droids seemed to be carving a path of bone and flesh ahead.
“Never fancied myself the hero type but… things change, I guess.”
Nathan muttered to himself, as the tesla cannon activated on his arm. The cocoon shape folded out, progressively forming a barrel as Nate hopped over carcass and bloody flesh. He then aimed his weapon at the left hand droid, the trigger was pulled and a projectile was launched right into the dome of that freaky mechanical contraption. Now for the other.
Weisly Croft
Assassin Theme
"W-wait!"
By then Helvetica and Levont had already begun to take action. She was behind, and the androids were coming closer, one specifically trained on Helvetica, the other on herself.
"Hey, you two ladies. Speed up. Get to the subway before me."
"Right!" She had to remember that it was life or death with these droids.
She sped up to catch up with Helvetica, and finally reached the point of the dip. She was still well behind but she looked back at Levont.
"Are you sure?"
Ok. We definitely cannot get caught by that. Use the dip and lets gain some distance.
"O-okay I'll follow you." she said mustering her courage.
The dip increased her speed dramatically and a wild rush of wind beat against her as the track whirled down to the tunnels. "What's the plan of attack?" she tried to shout above the rushing wind.
How on earth are we supposed to kill assassins? The wind rushed and she heard a loud noise behind her. A giant assassin drone had passed Levont and rocketed down towards them. It's blades were spinning now, and she was nearing the end of the dip.
Just as she neared the bottom she used her own special force push ability on the track which propelled her into the dark subway tunnels. She had rocketed a bit further than Helvetica and entered the tunnels pitch black. There was nothing but a tiny occasional ceiling light up ahead that indicated the direction of the track. Anything beyond that was total darkness. Weisly grabbed her pistol from it's holder on her waist. Hopefully this mod was good for something.
"Do you have anything that could help us escape those things? If it catches us we're d-dead."
Behind them she could hear the grinding of the machine's buzzing saws and the clicking of it's gears. And there were definitely camera's watching them all. She could see the things hovering around her like insects in the dark. If she'd had a pool of water nearby she could use it to freeze those machines where they were. But there was no body of water in these tunnels.
She knew there were fans, people waiting to see what gory demise they would have. However, Weisly decided that she would not die without putting on a good show. It was time for her to race for her own life.
Helvetica Standard: Into the rabbit's tunnel
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"What's the plan of attack?"

Besides running? Not really!

Helvetica really cant think of any special tactic she could do to kill these Asassins. She was just a courier! What experience DOES she have in killing militarised killer robots? In fact, she had actually no experience in official racing. The closest she has some back street free blading amongst the free running community. In actual fact, the blood and violence finally set in the extent of the brutality of this event. Cries of pain and death filled the air as the wind carried both down into the tunnel and the base of her stomach was beginning to churn. As the current group ramped out at the end of the dip, Weisly rocketed forward with her own skates, a boost she thought was impossible since Helvetica thought that Weisly has maxed out her skates. What was more surprising was the weapon she pulled out.

"Do you have anything that could help us escape those things? If it catches us we're d-dead."

Kind of....

From within the folds of her clothes, Helvetica pulled out the pistol from the holster under her arms. Pistol is an understatement. Hand cannon was more appropriate. Glancing ahead to make sure it was clear, Helvetica made a textbook 180 roller skate turn with the Misriah up and took a shot at the bot. The recoil blew her mind away. Even though they said they compensated for the ammunition size and it was custom made, her expectation was far exceeded by the actual firing of the gun. The bullet was off and rather than hitting the upper torso and the recoil threw her aim to the left shoulder and lodged inside whilst making her unstable. The bot's computer registered the sudden minor loss of speed and surged ahead with a big swing with its arm. The blades connected solidly on her left arm and sparks flew as it spun against her artificial arm before the weight of the attack sent her forward, but into the tunnel wall.

ARGH!

The pain was intense. Her arm was fine, but at the speed she was going, her right arm rather scratched up against the wall. In exchange, Helvetica was actually pushed out of the way from an electronic sign that would have taken her head off. You could almost hear the unanimous groan of disappointment from the audience at the lack of maining from the attack, the lack of decapitation and that she was back ahead out of reach from the assassin bot with a burst of speed from her skate's ability. Helvetica was back ahead next to Weisly once again, a second from either of their deaths. Death was right on their heels but it was all they could wish for right now.

Ow ow ow ow! Ok, that didnt turn out so well. Missed my shot and got banged up. You got anything up your sleeves?

Levont Kaiser

Just as the two women passed him, one of the assassin robots passed him as well while the crippled robot exploded due to gunfire from an unknown source.

"What the?" Levont exclaimed as he quickly looked for the gunfire before turning the lightcycle back around to deal with that last assassin bot.

He raised his right hand, aimed and fired an Inversion blast at the bot which connected. Quickly Levont slammed his hand on two more buttons. Two crane like arms extended from the motorcycle with a pair of daggers in each hand while the lightcycle suddenly got a speed boost.

"Look out!" Levont yelled as he rushed passed the assassin bot while the lightcycle slashed at the robot. One of the assassin robot's legs got sliced off as Levont maneuvered out of the two women's way before spinning back around. The two daggers withdrew as two pistols came out.

"Ai, intel on the two racers I just passed by." Levont muttered.

*ding*

"Two racers you passed is
Helvetica Standard and Weisly Croft." The orb ai answered.

"Hey Helcetica Standard and Weisly Croft. Get out of the way!" Levont yelled as he started taking potshots at the crippled assassin bot.

Uni noticed he was one of the fastest racers here. He kept swerving between other racers to get by. The two front wheels of his sonic cycle didn't take any damage as he drove over a few bodies and debris. He saw Helvetica, Weisly, and Levont near a dip in the track ahead. He could see two assassin droids chasing her and two others. Uni slowed his sonic cycle a little bit before hitting the dip. He accelerated once he got a view of the tunnel. He was a blur of black and neon orange as he entered the tunnel. One assassin droid left debris everywhere after it exploded from being shot. He drove through the debris as the other assassin droid got one of its legs cut off. The droid on the back of his sonic cycle asked, "You're not going to do what I think you're going to do, are you?"

Uni drove his sonic cycle to the left edge of the tunnel and up along the wall. He pulled a line from the back of his sonic cycle and tossed it around the remaining leg of the second assassin droid. The line wrapped around the leg causing the assassin droid to crash backwards as he drove past. He drove into the track and past Helvetica, Weisly, and Levont. What Uni got as a result was a fishing line. The assassin droid stopped working after the impact and flew past the others. The cameras were fixed on the other side of the tunnel. The crowd started screaming when they saw the cameras showing a sonic cycle shooting out of the tunnel with a line dragging one of the assassin droids. He started swerving around other racers while the line and assassin droid caught anyone in the way.

(OOC: There are two droids after Uni. So after this post there will be one more. ^^)

Weisly Croft

Ow ow ow ow! Ok, that didn't turn out so well. Missed my shot and got banged up. You got anything up your sleeves?

"I, well..." Weisly swerved with her pistol in tow and fired a few shots. No effect. Her heart sank.

"Two racers you passed is Helvetica Standard and Weisly Croft."

The man Levont also tried taking shots at the huge machine. The man's shots weren't doing so well. Everyone knew Assassin drones were indestructible. It had to be delayed somehow.

And so she tried it. The swerve of her sonics moved in sync with her to position herself right in front of the pursuing droid. She could feel the bone spikes in her back quiver as she outstretched one hand. With a squeeze of her hand, the water had been conjured around the creature instantaneously. And she watched as it solidified into thick ice. The assassin bot was still for once. And she breathed a sigh of relief before feeling the pulsating on her wrist.

Great teamwork for those three of you who have defeated the droids. RIP for othe one of you who were sacrificed to the red scarf gang. Be careful to those of you who are in the lead. Word around the net is there's a huge credit bounty on your heads.

Olivia Sato

She took a sip of the red swirling liquid in her cup and gazed lazily at the screens before her. She was not smiling. The first race was the most boring. She sat with ridiculous fans screaming at the finish line with screens showcasing a frozen droid. Those damn Oblivion victims are still around.

She'd give anything to exterminate them for good. Just as she turned her gaze from the large screen she caught her father's gaze. He stood beside her before sitting in a lavish seat. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Assassin droids are indestructible. Most of these idiots forget that fact. They'll return sooner or later." She took another sip from her cup. "I even sent two after that 'hacker' from earlier. I'd be surprised if he survives the two. He'll probably be the death to remember this race."

A smile went across her face. She received only silence from her father.

"I'm more interested in how those idiot red scarves are going to achieve their goals. They've been recruiting left and right. There's well over 3000 members now." she said. "I can't wait to see all hell break loose when they realize only ten can win."

"ah so I see, they're recruiting power early on to crush their competition and wipe out all other competitors? Didn't work so well last time." Dalton nodded.

"They didn't have prisoners as members last time." said Olivia

"Any how is that going to give them an advantage?"

"We'll see. For now their goals are probably something along the lines of-"

"Crushing every little weak racer in our territory! We gotta weed them out and recruit the strong ones yaknow?!"

The five men racing on the neon track were like lightning. Their red scarves clearly recognizable. "Y-yea boss, but are you sure you want to go after them? I mean they took out an Assassin! Dat aint cool bo-"

The man's head exploded before he finished and his body flew back on the racetrack like a rag doll. "For all you newbies ya gotta learn that it ain't cool questioning my methods yaknow? Like I said we go in for the bounty and the higher ups will make sure we get a cut in the final ten yaknow?"

"Right boss!" the three following racers spoke in unison.

"Hells yea right! Nobody messes with the Red Trojan yaknow?"

Weisly Croft

"It...worked?" Weisly was impressed with herself for once. However she felt ashamed. She'd revealed her powers to her possible allies and to the cameras. The entire world was watching, even her grandmother.

She wasn't ready for the discrimination. "I-I'm sorry!" She skated on ahead as fast ash she possibly could.

She wanted to get away from them. What if they didn't want to be associated with her now? They probably disliked Oblivion victims like everyone else. She focused more on distancing herself as much as she could from them. She didn't want to face their hatred.

She nearly gasped when she saw a large assassin bot shoot out from behind her and out of the tunnel ahead. "Who is that going after?"

She wasn't too concerned as long as it was not after her shoe could play it safe. But after all she did get help from others. It was a tough choice to find make. To get involved or not to. She certainly was no brave Levont Kaiser. As she rocketed from the tunnel exit screamed scheered her name and she could see her sweaty face on one of the large screens hanging above the racetrack.

She didn't expect to smile, or to feel happy as the fans cheered her on. It was an odd bittersweet moment.

Levont Kaiser

His bullets were not having an effect on the last assassin bot. Just before he charged up another inversion shot, he saw Weisly move in front of him while holding her hand up. The assassin bot chasing them was encased in water before quick frozen.

"What the?! Oblivion Victim?" Levont muttered to himself before his cell phone rang. He grabbed it out of his pocket before quickly reading it.

Levont groaned.

"Joy to the world. Who's after us now?" he muttered before Weisly zipped passed him.

"Hey wait." Levont muttered as he spun back around as he accelerated, matching his speed to Weisly's speed easily.

"Hey Weisly. Nice use of your abilities. How about we talk about your abilities after this race? I wanna listen on how you can do all that. Besides, the ability suits someone as cute as you." Levont yelled over the wind while having a bit of an impish smile on his face as the lightcycle retracted it's gun arms back into the cycle.

As Levont was finishing his talk to Weisly, another assassin bot sped past him.

"What?! Another one? Weisly, stay here or follow me. It don't matter. I'll go see who this one is targeting." Levont muttered as he speed ahead tailing the assassin bot out of the tunnel.

Helvetica Standard: ... And out the other side

What Weisley did was a shock. Helvetica has heard of skills Oblivion victims possessed that were akin to magic to the common people. Manipulation of elements and the like seemed like fairy tale, but here was a girl that she knew (sort of ) personally, showing her a shining example of this ability. From her collar, a bleep popped up and Mr Atlus sent her another... reassuring message.

The rather nonchalant RIP line was a bit unsettling for Helvetica. After all, a person just died, but when she stepped back for a bit, all around her, the metallic stench of blood from the dead permeated even out into the open air.

Why our heads? I mean, sure we survived the Assassins, but there are plenty others that also did.

"Hey Weisly. Nice use of your abilities. How about we talk about your abilities after this race? I wanna listen on how you can do all that. Besides, the ability suits someone as cute as you."

As carefree as she might be, this rider was not someone she knew and he as now chasing after a bot on his own accord.

Are you going to follow him after that bot? We barely managed to escape that
last scuffle!

In addition, moving forward would mean moving up in ranks. The last thing they needed was bigger targets on their back. Before Helvetica could continue to argue her case with Weisly, several rather rowdy men were gunning through the tunnel, shouting whoops and jeers. Even from the distance, the unmistakable red scarf on their neck meant they were part of the Red Trojans, one of the criminal gangs that are also participating. If she and Weisly had bounties as Mr Atlus had said, it was impossible for them not to know and even more so for them to ignore the two girls.

Aw, balls.... ok. No choice then. Gonna have to follow him if i wanna survive.... Let's go

Pulling out her gun again, Helvetica tried to put as much distance between herself and the incoming Red Trojans. If push comes to shove, she wondered if she would have the guts to pull the trigger and take out a man. The Misriah doesn't play around. With the bullets it was shooting, no one is coming out unscathed. After all, she is just a glorified postal girl on skates and nothing more

Weisly Croft

The wind whipped wildly around her as neon colors of the large surrounding buildings flashed past her one after another. Any attempts to go any faster were not working.

"Hey Weisly. Nice use of your abilities. How about we talk about your abilities after this race? I wanna listen on how you can do all that. Besides, the ability suits someone as cute as you."

Weisly was a bit confused at his remark. She figured Levont would leave her alone completely, instead she got a compliment. Handsome guys had never given her compliments before. It was hard not to smile a bit however, his remark about following the passing bot made her uneasy. She had just had a taste of how real it all was, of how brutal this race could be.

It was also odd that he had not treated her with fear or hate. it was nice for a change. "I'll be happy to tell you all about it if I make it." she blushed.

The wind rushed faster and racers had passed them during their last scuffle. Weisly was afraid of losing the race. Or coming in last and having to face more droids. There was so much happening at the moment, but they had to do something. All of the cameras were watching.

Are you going to follow him after that bot? We barely managed to escape that last scuffle!

"C-cant we avoid it? It's not hunting us specifically. I could try and stop it if need be...and we could get ahead of it. I think."

Weisly wanted to do nothing more than to cross the finish line already. This race was already too eventful for her liking. The track wound upwards, higher and higher towards a large loop that was as high as a tall sky scraper that stood between it. Weisly looked back to see Helvetica armed, and didn't know why until she spotted men in red racing after them.

Her sonics reacted before she could have a say, she swerved to the left and readied her pistol as well. "Heads up." she warned Levont.

She bent her knees slightly. If they were able to make it through this loop, they'd gain enough speed to get far far away from their pursuers. It was only a matter of time before the men caught up. And they were wasting time. A few hundred racers were already well ahead of them They had to react fast, sandwiched between a deadly robot and hired thugs.

"If we're sticking together, does this mean we're a team?" she asked the others.

Levont Kiaser

"Heads up."

Levont looked behind him as Weisly rushed up beside him to warn him. Confused, Levont looked behind him and saw a few racers with red scarfs quickly catching up to them as he faced his floating orb ai.

"Orb, priority instructions. Identify the racers behind me that has red scarfs." Levont commanded as the orb did a quick scan.

"Red Scarfs people are members of a group called Red Trojans. Notorious for scouting people with power to add into their ranks while pushing for race domination. Often noted to hunt people of note. I.e people with bounty and etc. Man currently following you is third in command Jonathan Krawis. Uses Sonic Skates. Also noted to be ruthless." The ai answered.

"If we're sticking together, does this mean we're a team?"

"We have to if we want to get out of this particular mess alive. Are you in Helvetica?" Levont asked as he started building up another inversion shot in case the red trojans decided to interrupt their talks.
