Multiple Platforms The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Im playing this game, and I have to say, it is enjoyable traveling around, the story is a little Meh, but then again I expected that with Elder Scroll games, they are made for traveling...

Down side is I know why people said buy it for PC now... Memory problem with it going up everytime I save... I hope they patch it up very soon.

I like the game for the most part, but I've found it to be a bit glitchy. When following NPCs, they tend to get stuck, or just not want to move at all, which is a bit annoying. I also have had the game (on my PS3, which is only about a year old) freeze up about three times in the same part of the game, and thus causing me to reset my PS3 over and over. I've found that horses become partially invisible if I'm too close to them, and sometimes even when I'm riding them. Very weird. Finally, I had my first saved game deleted somehow. My boyfriend was playing the game ( a new game), but never saved it. It auto saved, yes, but he didn't save any progress at all, so...where the heck did my data go? Beats me. Oh well, it's not a big deal now, but still annoying to think about.

Had that happen a couple times, too, but generally if I go up to them and stand near them but not right next to them, they'll start moving again.

That's happened to me twice as well. Although I just had to restart the PS3 once in each case.

One of the few complaints I have about the game, as I said in the SB last night, is that's is virtually impossible to tell if you can handle an enemy or not - trolls, giants, etc. aside. There have been several times where I've been out wandering and the following exchange has happened:

ME: *spots enemy and goes into sneak* :megusta2:
ME: *shoots arrow*

ENEMY: Health bar goes down . that much.

ME: ...........shit. :okay:

That has happened to me only.... 4000 times so far :raye:

and its not like I'm that far from any place at the beginning... Its just a pain in the arse to not know if they are too powerful or not.

Honey, I know how you feel. I remember going to Whiterun and seeing that giant, so I was like, "Oh! Giant? I can take it. I'm sure it's in my level range since it's near Whiterun!" *attacks and gets flung 80 feet into the air and dies* "FUUUUU!" :rage:

You guys are not very good archers then :ahmed: Run away, find some place they can't attack you, and shoot them until they die or run away from you!

That's the way you do it. :megusta:

Also, gonna play this tonight...just cause I feel not sick enough to do it.... :ryan: I think I will play every game ever tonight just for that reason.

What he said. Being an archer is the most rewarding thing usually. I have sneak pretty high, and archery almost maxed, and I'll kill most folks in one or two blows now. Even if I don't, they'll never know what direction I'm shooting in so I'll get quite a few Sneak attacks in before they drop.

Too bad I don't run archer. >_> -has a High Elf that uses Flame and Restoration magicka at the moment)-

So i saw this video the other day and thought I would finally get around to sharing it. Also, I posting part 2 before part 1 before part 2 is MUCH better than part 1 and they're unrelated. SO WATCH THE VIDEO :rage:

Cool, thanks for the update! Haven't touched the game for over a month now, but hopefully this fixes a lot of the problems for the PS3 version. Still not going to update right away though until I read some reviews from others. I didn't even download the 1.3 patch because a lot of the players were experiencing new game-breaking glitches, though the main problems were related to the system itself. Can't afford to have my PS3 break down on me. I do miss the world of Skyrim, however. I'm thinking of just starting from scratch again (new character, new file) but it makes me cringe every time I think about deleting all those hours.

Back-up: Steam opens beta testing on Skyrim 1.4 patch

Brave Dragonborn can set out on the most daring adventure of their lifetimes, by beta testing the latest patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Steam. As the Bethesda blog notes, it’s best to back up your saves before you give it a go, because in a game this size, something is almost certainly going to go horribly, horribly wrong. Assuming you’re not too attached to the last hundred hours you spent on the game, you can opt into the beta in the Account section of your Steam settings. You can check the preliminary patch notes here.
Thanks, GameInformer.

Skyrim patch 1.4 due on Xbox 360 tomorrow

The Xbox 360 version of patch 1.4 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming tomorrow, according to a tweet from Bethesda’s Pete Hines. Bethesda’s doesn’t have a timeframe for the PlayStation 3 version yet, and is apparently waiting on certification from Sony. Patch 1.4 fixes a massive number of bugs, including many which affect the player’s ability to complete quests.
Thanks, Eurogamer. [image]

Downloaded 1.4 patch after reading some good reviews. Deleted the game data and did a fresh install of the game. (Didn't delete my save files). After installation, I downloaded 1.4 patch. Loaded the most recent file from December, and did a manual save on a new file. (I heard it's better to make a new game save rather than overwriting an old save file). Restarted the PS3 right after before continuing to play...which was about 45 minutes - no freezes or framerate issues. I'd say it's a solid update...might run into a few minor issues along the way, but at least they managed to do something about the major issues for PS3. It's running a lot smoother from what I remember.

Im great to hear that. I might buy this game soon :ohoho: although mw3 really consumes most of my spare time.

Bethesda list two steps PS3 users should follow when applying patch 1.4 to Skyrim

For many PS3 users, the release of patch 1.4 for Skyrim was an absolute blessing, as it contains a fix to some lag issues players have been experiencing on the system since launch. However, a few players have noted they are still experiencing some issues, while others have reported smooth sailing.

dragon-skyrim-header.jpg

If you are one of the former, Bethesda has posted the following on the official forums, and hopefully it will fix any remaining problems you may be experiencing:
“The 1.4 patch for Skyrim includes many performance-enhancing updates for the PlayStation 3. A few important things to note:
1. To ensure the fastest jump in performance after applying the patch, be sure to first create a new manual save by entering the save menu and choosing “save game.” You should then restart your PlayStation 3 before continuing to play.
2. If you encounter strange behaviour while playing immediately following application of the patch, do not be alarmed – this is a temporary effect of Skyrim scripts correcting themselves after the update. Once this process runs its course, be sure to make a new save and restart your PlayStation 3.”
Try these steps out, and if it still doesn’t help matters, head over to the forums and post on the matter. Bethesda has said it looks “at forums (including our own), wikis, blog comments, YouTube videos, and more,” when it comes to user feedback.
Thanks, OPM.
