The Paths of Tragedy

Jake heard the man's teleportation; the sound of rushing mist was a dead give-away. With a leap, Jake jumped to the side, dodging any impending attack. It proved to be useless, however, as there was no attack that came for him.

Jake whirled around and eyes his foe, enveloped in a black mist. It didn't take long for him to notice that his foe had stopped attacking and was staring directly at Zeria. Jake wasted no time. He leapt between the two, blocking the man from harming the woman.

Positioning his sword, Jake glared at his foe. "You want to get to her, you'll have to go through me! You come here, try to kill two innocent soldiers, and then turn your sights on her? I don't think so!" Jake was quivering with anger and loathing. The man had made an attempt on the soldier's lives without a second thought, and now was turning his sights on this young woman!

Jake glared at his foe, cold as ice, waiting for him to make the first move.

The masked man's movements had completely stopped and his eyes began to fade back to their blue color. Ignoring the comments from Jake he then dropped his arm holding the sword down to his side. He slowly began to shuffle and towards the one he had been looking for. He then streached out his left arm towards Zeria.

"I...have..finally found you....my sweet Zeria."

Zeria looked a bit shocked, but took a step back. Only one person had ever called her that before...her voice was barely a whisper as the shock spread through her entire body.

"Samael....."

~It can't be him! It can't be! He...he was back at the Tower when it fell!~

Taking another step closer Samael reached up with his left hand and grasped his mask.

"Ahh....How I longed to hear that voice again."

He said as he removed his mask revealing his face and then placing the mask onto his shoulder. He then returned his veiw back to Zeria and extended his hand once again.

"I have travel a great distance to find you. Hehe...I also had many pathetic beings slow my pace along the way as well."

Zeria made an attempt to hide her fear, and replaced it with anger.

"Why have you come?! Are you going to ruin things like you did last time?!"

She glared furiously.

"The last time you extended your hand to me.....I lost Julius...!"

With his hand still stretched out Samael had a smug smile that ran across his face.

"My lovely sweet Zeria...Don't you realise that everything I have done is to ensure our perfect future?"

Samael said as he took another step closer.

Wylliam nodded to Jake and grabbed the guards as carefully as he could, leaping onto the gate and to the opposite side. He took off the moment he landed. 'Gotta hurry,' he thought, gritting his teeth, 'Jake's gonna need help.' He ran to the inn, but Jonad had already left. "Crap!" he said, whipping around and heading toward the palace.

Arriving at the entrance, he spotted Cairn and Jonad. "Jonad!" Wylliam exclaimed, laying the two men down, "Take care of these guys! I've got to go help Jake!" With that, he turned immeadiately around and ran in the gate's direction.

--------------------------------------

"By pathetic beings... you wouldn't mean those bandits, would you?" said Skaol, stepping to the scene at hand. A breeze caught his armor's cape and hair as he stared with his trademark sleepy gaze and matching smile at the strange man with a mask on his shoulder. He drew his rapier, but held it at his side. He wasn't ready to attack unless he was certain of the man's guilt. "I know nothing of your quarrel with these two, but those men in the forest did not die natural deaths. What caused each rouge to expire with terror and confusion on their face? Please answer."

Zeria took another step back, and found herself pressed against the wall. Her body shook with fear and her eyes began to brim with tears at the memory of what had all happened.

"I...I won't leave again! There's no such thing as the perfect future! There never will be!"

~I've got to get away...somehow...before he twists my mind with lies again!~

Samael continued advancing towards Zeria with his hand out and that smug smile.

"My love why do you toment yourself. You torcher youself everyday. Please let me take you away from all of this pain."

Then Samael noticed Skaol. Turning his head and glancing over his shoulder.

"Heh....They tried to stop me from getting to the one thing I desire, and I can't let that happen again."

Turning his attention back to Zeria and advancing again.

"Please my love."

Jonad had met up with Cairn a minute ago, when he heard his name shouted from behind with fatigue, as well as panic.

He turned around, only to see 2 close to lifeless bodies being laid on the stone ground, and the sentence "Take care of these guys! I've got to go help Jake!"

Jonad had little choice. He ran over to them, as he shouted to anybody close to them. "Call the hospital"

As he came over to them, he started doing what he had trained for.
One was barely consious, the other was not.

He had little time. the one that was awake, was quickly put in a sedated state using his magic.
and the other seemed calm enough, not to need any as of now.

The one that was already unconscious seemed to be in the worst shape.
Closer examination, showed that his neck, was tore apart, there was no saving him.
Jonad turned the look to the other one. He was alive, but barely, his head needed critical attention, but besides his head, everything else seemed in order.

Jonad began the healing process. The healing process would not be enough, but it would be good enough to keep him alive, until the operation was complete. By this time, The hospital had rushed there with a cart.

The man was loaded up, as Jonad gave them the vital information they needed.
He was sedated, at least for the rest of the day, and his life should be continuing after this day.
Jonad gave one of the men a pill, that was vaguely glowing a pinkish color. Along the instructions to use it.
The doctor seemed rather hesitant about giving a patient medicine, from an unknown man.
Jonad had to force an introduction on him, and luckily the doctor knew his name, and recognized him after.
He took the pill in his hand, and nodded, just before he ran off.
If he did as instructed, the man would live.

The other guard, was picked up by his comrades, and slowly carried away.

Jonad checked his robe, it seemed clean.
And he walked back towards Cairn, hoping that he did not use too much time.

Without a flicker in his expression, Skaol raised his sword. "You proclaim love to that woman cowering from you? Love is a desire for another's happiness, and a willingness to take any role to maximize that happiness, be it lover, friend, or even stranger." Skaol took a step forward. "Oh, and one more thing. Women are perfectly capable of determining what makes them happy on their own. Now, you haven't answered my second question. What did you do to those men?"

Zeria closed her eyes tightly as Samael drew even closer.

"No...go away! I don't want to suffer through all of this again! I have to find Julius! I swore to myself I would!"

Tears were streaming down her cheeks and her viper eyes flashed with anger.

"Just stop trying to love me! I'm not worth it!"

Hearing Skaol's words Samael suddenly stopped advancing. He slowly dropped his hand and turned his right side towards Skaol. With the smile now gone he began to stared at Skaol.

"You pathetic beings do not understnd my love! My willingness is to kill anything that gets between me and her and saving her from anthing that might hurt her! Those things you call bandits stood in my way. So cleansed them with Nox Noctis Terminus."

Samael ended the conversation and turned back Zeria and stared deep into her eyes.

"It was all for you."

Zeria closed her eyes tightly as Samael drew even closer.

"No...go away! I don't want to suffer through all of this again! I have to find Julius! I swore to myself I would!"

"Just stop trying to love me! I'm not worth it!"

Streaching his hand out again.

"Of course you are. There is something that both of us share."

Skaol had had enough. "Drop your hand and stop causing this woman such undue pain. I hate to break it to you, but 'death' and 'love' used in the same sentence is a simple logical fallacy. Death causes pain and sorrow. Love is the grant of happiness in life. To cause one to the other's end is to create a wide reaching spiral of agony that hurts, not only the object of your affection, but any who are unfortunate to cross your demented objective as well. Now, I will not stab you in the back, as I do not do this on behalf of Aldabra. I have come into this for a sword duel, with our philosophies providing our need to win." His exterior showed no change, but he was quickly relaxing his muscles, ready to face the man's blade.

Arthvader checked the bar that was inside the inn. Wanting to get some information on the tournament that Cairn mentioned back at the port town, he asked the bartender. "Excuse me, sir. I've heard that a tournament was taking place here. I was wondering if that may be true?" The Bartender replied "Yes. Indeed there will be a tournament tomorrow, here in our coliseum. I heard that the prize for the winner is quite valuable. Do you want to enter?" "Of course I want to enter. Where do I sign up?" "Why, here in this very spot.if you choose not to sing up here, you can always sign up on the day of the tournament. But, I warn you, there will be some very tough competition this time." Looking at the sign-up sheet, Arthvader started to enter himself into the competition. "Well, good luck tomorrow then, brave adventurer." "Thanks. Well, see ya." As he left the inn, he noticed Zeria in danger. As quickly as possible, Arthvader arrived at her aid. before him was the man who had haunted her during their travels. "So, I guess we meet again, it seems. When was the last time we met? Anyways, Don't you dare lay a finger around Zeria. If you as much as harm her, I swear, you'll never see life again."

Zeria was at the point of collapsing by now. She had absolutely no strength left in her body.

"I don't want people to die because of me...it's already my fault that Julius is gone.........I WON'T LET MORE DEATH BE ON MY HANDS, SAMAEL!"

As the last bit of strength left her body, her eyes fluttered shut, and she fainted to the ground....her breathing becoming shallow and an expression of pure sorrow on her face...

"Enough of this!"

Shouted Samael as he dropped his hand and turn slightly towards Skaol.

"There is only one thing here I want and it's not to argue with worthless being such as yourself."

"You scum have hurt her more then I could even fathom. And all I want is to protect her from everything that could do her harm.

Stated Samael not even looking at Arthvader.

Quickly turning to see Zeria falling Samael releases his grip on his sword and begins rushing toward her. As the sword hits the ground it begins to dissolve into a black mist and returning to the sheath.

As Damian awoke a second time, he noticed he was in a small field. It seemed that Raven had been carrying him here. As he rose he noticed raven looking down on a city. As Damian approached him he spoke "We are near the city of Palacius, it appears my goal is drawing to a close." Damian was slightly confused but remained silent as Raven turned to face him. "I have brought you here as I was told in a vision, within the city of Palacius lies the ones you are destined to follow, in that, I am afraid I can not remain. I shall follow, but I will not reach its conclusion, for that is not entwined with my destiny". Raven spoke, almost like he was announcing a speech. Damian then replied, "What do you mean? Are you going to... Distance? And what's all this talk of destiny? And who was that demon that attacked me!?" Damian had so many questions remaining unanswered. Hoping Raven could answer them. Raven took a deep breath and calmly replied, "A year before I met you I was instructed by a voice, it instructed me to aid the one who is the brother of the half-demon. It also stated that my journey would draw to a close far before your journey is complete. I accepted the task of being your guardian knowing full well that my life would end as a result. My life has been a ruin since I was cursed with this demonic 'power', I have nothing to live for". Raven then turned away and continued looking towards the city. Damian turned and grabbed his staff and bag before turning back to Raven. When he turned however, Raven was already walking to the gates, as Damian followed after, barely 5 paces behind.

Jake noticed that the man took a step towards Zeria, who had fallen. Without a second thought, Jake rushed and stood in the silver-clad man's way. With a roar, he rammed the ground and thrust his hands forward, sending a large spire after his foe.

Jake didn't care that this man was wanting to protect somebody, he tried to kill two innocent people without a second thought. He attempted murder without a flicker of hesitation, not even caring that he was trying to destroy lives.

"You idiot," Jake shouted, "What kind of person would kill two innocent people, just because of love? You love her, then why are you murdering people and causing her grief; why are you destroying lives that have nothing to do with this?" His mind flashed back to the mangled face of the warrior who was thrown into the side of the wall. "You destroyed life without a second whim. Get a grip, and get a life."

With a flourish, Jake sheathed his sword and blasted a beam of energy towards his foe, the light almost blinding him as a tenth of his energy was lost.

Cairn:
From within the seemingly endless clouds of dust and the flames unleashed by an unexpected foe, rises a man wielding a heavy sword, a weapon fueled by the malice of the air slowly poisoning the blade. It was Cairn, with the light of death shining deep within his eyes. He walked with slow pace, his iron boots stepping heavily on the ground as he approached the battlefield. Weakened by the amount of darkness that his sword has absorbed, Cairn could not do much but to witness in horror how his beloved city was slowly turning into a battlefield.

The arrival of the curse...

Suddenly, a man clad in dark armor appeared from above landing next to Cairn. His eyes could be seen shining from within the dark helm which hid his identity. As if acting out of mere intuition, the man clad in dark armor unsheathed his black sword,
a sword once wielded by "Lucius", infused with the greatest rage unimaginable. Purely made of evil, the sword can only be summoned once by the greatest amount of rage and hatred. The dark silver blade is 5 feet long 2 inches wide with a ruby at the base in which the handle and the blade are connected. Ancient texts were engraved all over the blade and will glow red in response to its wielder’s feelings. The hand guard is crescent moon shaped which covers the hands of its wielder. Two black angel wings that go to the sides (left and right) are attached to this part. The handle is 8 inches long and was made as a single piece, both the blade and the handle. The handle is covered with red and black silk, golden lines and ancient texts. At the end of the handle, there’s a dark angel wing enveloping a single red ruby.

Who was this man clad in dark armor? Why did he had the Sword of Revenge? Could it be.....
"him"?

"Samael....." He smirked, slowly giving away faint laughs as he taunted the man clad in silver. "Poor misguided and deluded Samael....lost without his master....craving on a lost love who does not belongs to him. How pathetic....." He lifted his sword, aiming the tip of his blade to Samael. "Cast your hatred on me....make me stronger....feed the dark king's cursed hunger....become the first step taken for this world's demise! Julius now belongs to me as well, so does Lucius. Can't you feel Julius' soul slowly being weakened here, in this very city? It seems your sight has been blinded by love...how unfortunate for you, misguided angel of death..." The man then turned his attention to the dragon warrior, highly intrigued by it. "So dragon, here we are. You've come to resurrect the glory of your ancient race. Have you forgotten the role given to your race? I fear you have...." he said referring to Jake and then resumed his comment "I am not your enemy, nor your destroyer. I came here to assist you in your destiny. You must prevent Sukani's return. If Sukani's soul merges with the "dark one", our fate is doomed....Stop it at all cost! Jake, Savior of the Dragons, Hero of Destiny..."

Cairn:
Cairn gazed upon the man clad in dark armor, confused and terrified by the amount of darkness the man seemed to have been unleashing with each step he took. Discouraged for not being able to protect his home, Cairn slammed his fists against the ground, desperate to see the feared prophesy slowly becoming a reality..

Added:

Wounded as he was, blood being drained by a deep cut on his left shoulder, Cairn was on the verge of fainting. It seems he got his wound during the chaos brought by the two opposing forces; Jake and that mysterious man (Dark fayte). Cairn had his sword sheathed and placed on the ground to his right, however his had was still grasping the hilt. It seems that some sort of dark parasite or virus infected his bloodstream through the cut on his left shoulder. As weakened as he was, Cairn wouldn't be able to control his sword...
