Red House Painters- "Medicine Bottle"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BMZ7wfLyno

A fantastic near-ten-minute song that can really set a mood. Not a good mood :lew:, it's quite a depressing song, and I listen to it when I feel like I don't know what to do because crap has just been ruined severely. However it is good to have songs like this whose words you can hang on when you need them, and it is an interesting, evocative narrative. 10/10.

giving in to love and sharing my time
letting someone into my misery
i told it all step by step
how i landed on the island
and how i swam across the sea
and it crosses my mind
that i may wake to a knife in me

no more breath in my hair
or ladies' underwear
tossed up over the alarm clock
blood dripping from the bed
to a neatly written poem
a heartfelt last line reading
there is no more mystery
is it going to happen my love
there is no more mystery
is it going to happen my love

it's all in my head she said
morning after nightmare
you're building a wall she said
higher than the both of us
so try living life
instead of hiding in the bedroom
show me a smile
and i'll promise not to leave you

it happened under a rainy cloud
passing through the dark south
we went into a big house
and slept in a small bed
i didn't know you then
as well as you of me
we talked of our sad lives
and we went off separately
and we went off separately
i found your overseas souvenirs
holiday greeting cards
and some long-forgot high school fears

it's all in my head i said
banging a piano
i've not been so alone i thought
since kicking in the womb
i drank so much tea
i wrote my letters in kanji
around the block i walked and walked
pretending you were with me

not wanting to die out here
without you

the hurting never ends
like birthdays and old friends
we forget what is flesh blood and bone is human
trading the phone lines for airlines
unwilling to face
that love is found on the inside not the outside
and like a medicine bottle
in the cabinet i'll keep you
and like a medicine bottle
in my hand i will hold you

and swallow you slowly
as to last me a lifetime
without holding too tight
i do not want to lose
the thrill that it gives me
to look out from my window
and scowl at the houses
from my world in the bedroom

it's all in my head she read
in her girlfriend's self-help book
it's all his own making
a war with himself
like two sides of a wall
that separates two countries
he shuts out the world
and wants only to love you

not wanting to die out here
without you

not wanting to die out here
without you

George Acosta- Tearing Me Apart

I happened upon this tonight browsing around for new music I might like. This is such a pretty song. It has an amazing beat and the lyrics are to die for. I don't know who the girl is who does vocals for George, but she has an amazing voice. Love love love this. Its very sensual yet beautiful.

Technoboy - Catfight

. . .MANY thanks to Ringo for getting this song stuck in my bloody head! :rage: I have it in my music player right now, listening to it as I'm working on my short story. Freakin Harstyle Techno is addicting. That and lyrics to this song seem to fit many moments in my life, and have occurred at least once in every one else's, I know that. Something tells me that I'm going to end up singing this song in a duet with a friend . :wacky:

'The Streak' by Ray Stevens. There was some talk on the chat about streaking and it made me remember this song. So I went into Youtube and looked up the video. Funniest old comedy song ever =P

Feeling Yourself Disintergrate - The Flaming Lips

It's a very nice song. It's just a lovely mix of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and synthesizer. It's proof that anyone who says that using synthesizers is somehow inferior to 'real' music, is a cunt. It's spectacular, great song from a superb album.

The Show Must Go On

Insane Clown Posse

Riddlebox

You hear a man say when he was young the clowns were setting up towns and doing odd things with the casualty of your standard person. They say they can hear their message in their head as the show goes on.

COME TO THE SHOW! BIGTOP SHOW! WALK HAND AND HAND WITH THE DARK CARNIVAL! DARK CARNY CARNIES THAT JUGGALO! WALK HAND AND HAND WITH THE DARK CARNIVAL!

Two Steps From Hell - Lux Aeterna

Not exactly the same song composed by Clint Marshall, but it is nearly just as beautiful. The composer has a variety of instrumental music with all sorts of themes to suit whatever mood you're in - and this song I can listen to when in need of some creative inspiration. If you look it up on Youtube, it probably won't be what you're expecting, but the results are very much worth it . :ryan:

Oasis- Wonderwall

I can't even tell anyone how awful this week has been for me so far...Really just :sad2: ...I heard this on the way to school today and I haven't heard it in ages...it made me feel just a little better. How is it depressing music makes you feel better when you are depressed??? I don't know...but. Anyways, this is classic. I will always love this song...its one of the songs of my time that will always stand the test of time.

Pinch Me - Barenaked Ladies

Amazing song. I really love the meaning behind it, definitely the chorus. One of my favourite Barenaked Ladies songs, along with One Week. They're definitely a great band, it's sad to know it's just another band where a member left, but at least they're continuing. I'm just glad this was recorded when the group was still in tact.

It's the perfect time of year
Somewhere far away from here
I feel fine enough, I guess
Considering everything's a mess.
There's a restaurant down the street
Where hungry people like to eat
I could walk, but I'll just drive
It's colder than it looks outside.

It's like a dream - you try to remember but it's gone...
...Then you try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn, when ya,
Try to see the world beyond your front door.
Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile, when ya,
Realise that with a guy my size it might take a while, just to -
Try to figure out what all this is for.

It's the perfect time of day
To throw all your cares away
Put the sprinkler on the lawn
And run through with my gym shorts on.
Take a drink right from the hose
And change into some drier clothes
Climb the stairs up to my room
Sleep away the afternoon.

It's like a dream - you try to remember but it's gone, then ya,
Try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn, when ya...
Try to see the world beyond your front door.
Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile, when ya
Realise that with a guy my size it might take a while, just to
Try to figure out what all this is for.
Pinch Me
Pinch Me
Cos I'm still asleep.
Please God
Tell Me
That I'm still asleep

On an evening such as this
It's hard to tell if I exist
If I Packed a car and leave this town
Who'll notice that I'm not around?
I could hide out under there
I just made you say 'underwear'
I could leave but I'll just stay
All my stuff's here anyway.
It's like a dream - you try to remember but it's gone, then ya
Try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn, when ya
Try to see the world beyond your front door.

Take your time cos the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile, when ya
Realise that with a guy my size it might take a while, just to
Try to figure out what all this is for.
Try to figure out what all this is for.
Try to see the world beyond your front door.
Try to figure out what all this is for.

Ago- So True (DJ Mog Remix)

I heard this on the way out to school yesterday and I was about to change the station because I didn't love the beginning...but I waited it out and now I love this. The lyrics are really beautiful and meaningful...and it has a really nice beat.

Lover Dearest - Marianas Trench

As some people may have noticed, MT has barged it's way in to my top favourite bands, kicking every single one aside. There's just something about their lyrics that is so amazing. I'm not even joking. Josh Ramsay, lead singer for Marianas Trench, an ex-drug addict, he puts an amazing amount of emotion in to his lyrics.

This song is one of them. Apparantly, back in "rehab" for him, they were asked to write a love letter, he wrote it to his Heroine addiction. It might sound corny, but this song is powerful as hell, and you can relate to it in many ways. Amazing band.

This place is a hole, but I don't want to go
I wish we could stay here forever alone
This time that we waste, but I still love your taste
Don't let him take my place don't just sit there
Sometimes I wish you would leave me

I'm not sick of you yet
Is that as good as it gets
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you
It's so easy to come back into you

I stared for awhile and waited for words
Seen but not heard and struggle to try
My tongue's turning black, but I'll take you back
You're still the best more or less, I guess, I guess
Don't you leave me

I'm not sick of you yet
Is that as good as it gets
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you
It's so easy to come back into you

It hurts me to say that it hurts me to stay
And it might be alright if you go
It hurts me to say that I want you to stay
And it might be alright if you go
So leave me

I'm not sick of you yet
Is that as good as it gets
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you
It's so easy to come back into you

Sometimes I think that the bitter in you and the quitter in me
Is the bitter in you and the quitter in me
The bitter in you and the quitter in me
Is the better in you and the quitter in me
The bitter in you and the quitter in me is bigger than the both of us

Snow - Informer

I like this song, it's a guilty pleasure. Snow is white Canadian reggae/rapper, so that interests me, you don't get too many white reggae people. The album has a decent enough pun in the title too. It's a catchy song that seems light hearted on the surface, but it's about not snitching to the police. It's a one hit wonder, but quite a lot of people will be familiar with a part of the chorus which are 'a licky boom boom down.'

Pretty on the Outside - Bullet For My Valentine

such a great, angry song. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory. I love the screams, and the guitar in this song.

Whoa, whoa, whoa

So you wanna play games with my head
But you make me fall apart, I wish that I was dead
I just can't believe I fell, for such a blackened heart
You played me for a fool and used me from the start

Fuck it all, fuck it all

I just want to know the truth,
But the words from your heart they just cloud,
All the negativity, forces me down into (silence)
But still I can dream,

I wanna know, I wanna know

If I tear you open wide,
take a look inside
Are you pretty
Can I get inside your mind,
see what I can find?
Are you pretty?
So just take off that disguise, everyone knows that you're only
Pretty on the outside

Now I fucking hate you, with all of my heart
Just disappear, and never will I fear for my life
I just want to be alone,
And never, no never, will I be unhappy and low,

I wanna know, I wanna know

If I tear you open wide,
take a look inside
Are you pretty
Can I get inside your mind,
see what I can find?
Are you pretty?
So just take off that disguise, everyone knows that you're only
Pretty on the outside

You're so pretty on the outside
You're so pretty on the outside

So you wanna play games with my head
But you make me fall apart and wish that I was dead
Can't believe I fell for such a blackened heart
You played me for a fool and just used me from the start

I just wanna know the truth (but the words from your mouth)
All your negativity (you keep forcing me down)
Into silence I can dream (into silence I can dream)
Into silence I can dream

If I tear you open wide, take a look inside
Are you pretty? (pretty!)
Can I get inside your mind, see what I can find?
Are you pretty? (pretty!)
So just take off that disguise, everyone knows that you're only
Pretty on the outside

Whoa, you re so pretty on the outside
Whoa, (you re so pretty on the outside)
You're so pretty on the outside!

Iwatodai Station - Persona 3

I've been playing Persona 3 and Persona 4 a bit, really enjoying it's hip-hop theme. Possibly some of the best game soundtracks I've had the pleasure of listening to. Nobuo Uematsu, Motoi Sakuraba, and Takeharu Ishimoto are really all cool guys... But this just feels different to me than just "game music".

Barracuda - Heart

I'd forgotten how much I love this song. The guitar is relentless, and adds so much to the anger in this song. Ann Wilson has an incredible voice, and she really shows it off in this song, those high notes she hits are incredible.

Deepest Blue- Deepest Blue

This song is just....<3. So pretty. The lyrics are beautiful and the guy who does the vocals has such a sexy, soft voice. The beat makes it so you can dance to it. This is an oldie but a goodie for me.

LeAnn Rimes - The Right Kind Of Wrong

I've really been into this song just lately and LeAnn Rimes has such a fabulous, strong and beautiful voice. It fits right into Coyote Ugly well and even though it's over ten years old, I still like it. It's cheesy and has its cheesy lyrics, but it's such a good song.

10/10
