I still think The Metal Opera is better, but The Wicked Trilogy still has it's good songs, and this is one of them. Been in the mood for Edguy/Avantasia more than usual recently, since Age of the Joker is FINALLY coming out in about a month...
Just let me go ahead and say that this song is fucking long, but goddamn it's so good. Dream Theater know how to make a near-30 minute song seem like its only a six-minute song. This song is indeed divided up into five separate parts, but it's one whole song. Still love it.
I am disappointed beyond belief that this isn't on any of her albums including her upcoming one, but at least there's this full live version I'd really love to hear the studio version. Current favorite song of hers despite that though.
It is probably one of my favourite songs by them, I like that it doesn't really rely on music for most of it. The opening lyrics I find, are magnificent
It's a very nice song, it's like quite a lot of their other songs in as much as it's quite melancholy. There's a very nice Piano melody which makes the song. The only part of the song that I don't think quite works is the chorus which doesn't sound as dark or as rich.
Hmmm...I'm starting to think Symphony X was a one-off thing for me. Paradise Lost was a fantastic album, and this song isn't too bad - probably my favourite from their latest album - but it just doesn't have the same epic impact Paradise Lost's songs did. All the same, good vocals, and fairly catchy. Could be worse. At least they haven't gone the way of Revolution Renaissance...
^ That album is easily Michael Romeo's finest showing. The guitar work throughtout and especially Electric Messiah is just jaw-dropping.
Periphery - Frak The Gods [Icarus EP, 2011] (Djent, Progressive-Metal)
Filled to the brim with polyrhythms, advanced instrumental work, and a varied (if a bit annoying at times) vocal assault; Periphery are a band that's always at work honing their craft in their guitarist, Misha Mansoor's home studio. This song has been circulating around a lot in their live performances and only just recently has it been put on a cd for everyone's listening pleasure. It embodies the Periphery sound very well, with a heavy, Meshuggah-like opening riff that the rest of the band plays around to make a very good mix. Combined with great transitions between sections, and Spencer Sotelo's greatest vocal outing to date, I can highly recommend this song to people who like a little more technicality in their metal.
A very inspirational song and it's my favourite tied with The Edge of Glory from the album. The lyrics are beautifully written and the chorus is incredibly catchy. Her vocals are best shown off on songs like this. I love the message behind the song (especially the whole "I'm as free as my hair" lyric) and the production is put together very well.
I was in the mood to listen to it after I watched some episodes of The Wild Thornberrys, a good show they should play again...
I kept forgetting to look for who sung it before, but I finally remembered tonight after watching and finally got the time to add it to my playlist. Hopefully it won't be removed xD
Ah I do so love The Smiths, heart breakingly sad pop songs. Johnny Marr's guitar is more suitable in this song than in other songs, it's far more Morrissey's song than his. It's one of the few Smith's songs without any humour in it, not even the dry quite bitter humour that you can find in songs like How Soon is Now. It's one of their emotional/serious songs.
One of my favourite songs from the album, it starts off slow and heart breaking setting tone of the song. Then at around a minute twenty five in it swells up to a powerful roar, but still keeps the sense of sadness perfectly in my opinion.
I happened to come across this randomly as I was browsing Youtube. I've always loved The Weepies. This song...makes me feel better. Currently, I have a headache and many problems came all at once.
And everyone says
This love will change you
Well I ask, does anything ever stay the same
No, no, no
Just same changes
Oh, and this movie...the song makes me want to watch it.
I love this song, dare I say it it makes me cry? I love her vocals and her lyrics; the very sad and true story behind it just makes me even more sad and makes it that much worse imo, her voice is so tender and full of emotion in this one, I feel her in this song for sure.
My boys make fun of me for this, but I like this song. You should see the reactions I get when I pull up to the stoplight blastin' Keri Hilson. Girls giggle and guys point and laugh.
This song has such a great build-up, and the opening guitar is excellent. Drums are great, and vocals are equally as great. I will say that the lyrics are pretty grand as well.
Okay, I feel like slapping myself really hard right now. I knew I like James Blunt's style of singing, and also the meanings behind the songs he sing. Yet, other than his rather popular 'You're Beautiful', I've only went to explore 'Tears and Rain' by chance, 'So Long, Jimmy', 'Goodbye, My Lover'... And that's about f-ing it!
My teacher was talking about the book 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' today, and I cited Blunt's reference to the character in Tears and Rain, which inspired me to try at listening at his other songs...
And I came to this song. Damn. The guitar at the starting of the song just commands attention like some... Jeez. It's like listening to Rolling in the Deep, where Adele's voice commands attention. Here, the guitar grabs the attention, then Blunt's voice melds in with the instrumentals and become a full-on concert. Jeez. Damnit.
Long Hot Summer by Keith Urban. I haven't listened to a lot of country music since the end of 8th grade, but when our local rock station went out of business (they couldn't get any advertisers to make money except stupid porn style ones >_>), my mom started putting the country station on our stereo that's usually playing in the living room. So now I hear all these songs that I want to listen to and now I can with Spotify So yeah, some country music is good I like how the song goes and the guitar later on is really catchy.
Whoo! James Blunt has a way to make his songs like a waterfall. Emotions are just gushing out from the lyrics, and the sorrowful-sounding piano chords. Man. I'm starting to think his voice was made for all the sad songs. LOL
