All fans of the FF series know that one of the strongest qualities it has is it's replay value. There are obviously many other things, but you know a game is special when you want to complete it again and again.

So, my question to you is: What makes you want to play FFVIII over and over? Is it the plot? The characters? Moomba's? It could be anything.

Personally, I get sucked back in by the music. Whenever I hear it outside of the game it makes me feel so nostalgic and happy. It keeps me completely engrossed from start to finish. I've literally been listening to the whole soundtrack on Youtube throughout the weekend!

Your views?

I like seeing the plot unfold time and time again, and the biggest reward for me is getting to the battle with Ultimecia at the end, followed by an ending I have seen many times, and still love. Makes everything seem worth it.

Plus as mentioned the music is brilliant :)

The plot. Definitely the plot. It's just so good, VIII, IX, X and X-2 I keep going back to over and over and I'm pretty sure it's all because of the plot (bar X-2 which is less about the plot). VIII is so amazing, seeing Squall unfold each time, getting to see Laguna (who I adore). I've played it about 5 times but this last time was the first time I'd read all of Selphie's blog posts. So it just goes to show there's always something new to be found in playing the game again.

Xx..xX

I just like replaying for the hunt of things I haven't found! In this particular game I think I've done everything. XD What led me to completing it though is the fun story and the action scenes which at the time when I played it was a real treat =). I swear when I discovered Selphie's blog posts after playing the game a third time I was so excited xD. But yea this game has a lot to offer when it comes to sidequests and getting certain items. I also really loved hunting for items to build and upgrade weapons. I also enjoyed finding the magazines to teach angelo every dog trick he could learn :P The plot is what keeps the game interesting though. I find I get super bored sometimes on the 2-3 disks but I guess that's what the sidequests were for ^_^. A good plot along with many things to find and explore is what keeps me comin back! :3

I like the story (save for the really stupid plot twist in the basketball court), Im a sucker for an ingame romance haha Its jut fun to play and there's enough side quests to kjeep me interested as well. Even if getting tonberry is an absolute nightmare

and the card game is addictive

uhmm, i like FF games but its replay value isn't that good comparing to other gameplay oriented games. But i'll only replay FF games when i found something goofy in the story that i might have missed out on or play it for the nostalgia and Oh boy i missed out so much stuff in VIII

Quistis and her whip. :inlove:

I dunno, the same thing that keeps me coming back to IV, V, VII, IX & X.

It's kinda hard to explain really. FF VIII is really special compared to your average game. Above all I guess it's the feeling I get when playing it. I just get so absorbed by it. The setting, the story, the characters, the world to explore and the adventures to be had.

And it's like that for the rest of them aswell.

They have such amazing qualities to them and it's why I've been in love with this series for over 10 years. Unquestionably the king of J-RPG's.

For me it is the story. I love the story of the game as well as the characters. Not to mention building all of my characters from scratch again. The nostalgia also helps. I have fond memories of playing through this game when I was a kid, and playing through the game lets me live some of them all over again.

For me, even though I hate this game, I still replay it from time to time for Squall, Quistis, and the card game. x) Besides his really sudden and awkward transition into liking Rinoa, Squall was a very, very good protagonist that just oozed swag from day 1. <3

The card game may not be for everyone, but I really love it and always, always try and collect every single one of them~!

The junction and drawing system... because it's a little different and unique from the other old school Final Fantasy games. It can be frustrating and confusing at times, but it can also be extremely addictive....

Also quite alot of the characters too. Laguna, Irvine, Quisty, Selphie, Rinoa...

I dont play it over and over, i played it once and that was enough. I might play it again if they do a remake and fix the story and overhaul the battle system.

So in other words you'd play it again if it were a completely different game? Not sure there's much point in posting in a thread asking what keeps you coming back to replay the game to say 'I don't keep coming back'

I replay it because I love it and to me, replaying an FF game is like re-reading a favorite book. Only interactive. :)

It's good to see that there are people that enjoy FFVIII as much as I do - I've literally just started a new game.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop. It's so addictive and nostalgic. I love it.

Each time I do try to do something different. I might leave Zell out of my party for the first time ever this time....

card game. always go back to 8 and 9 for the card games

and like any FF title i feel i learn alittle about the story each time i replay the game

selphie, nuff said

This would be considered spam in a post count section. Can you maybe elaborate and say why Selphie keeps you coming back to the game?

Sometimes i go to island closest to hell to kick some Malboro and Ruby Dragon ass.
The last time i played FF 8 was to face ultimecia again since that is the coolest final Battle in any FF (Matched only by FF 6 last Battle), and witouth using limit breaks, i like to face her old school battle only with magic and GF.

FFVIII is one of the top games for replayability!

I personally would replay FFVIII for EVERY aspect. FFVIII is easily my favourite FF :)

I LOVE triple triad (I even had a good amount of TT cards!) I enjoy the mission at Dollet and seeing Irvine quiver at his task! I love all the characters, the depths of emotion there are. The risky touch on the time/space theory.

Griever! I swear, I was so badly hoping you'd be able to obtain him as a GF. He would have been the most amazing GF ever!

I know this is short, but I could really write a ton of reasons why I would play precious VIII again <3

What keeps me coming back is the feeling of nostalgia of seeing the pictures of GF's ( First time I saw them I was like 5 or 6 years old and I thought they were pretty neat) also diablos summon was pretty badass to see.
After having completed the game 3 times I still cant have enough of Squall Rinoa and Irvine my main party choices aswell as the compelling soundtrack and world map and How could I NOT mention the great sidequests (especially the deep sea research. It gives me such a feeling of mystery)

I love this game very much from the battle system to the sound track, and of course the card game. Just can't get enough of winning cards. Besides, it was the first FF game I ever played, so when ever play it, it would recall my memories in the past.
