What was the last book you bought?

Ive ordered Stephen Kings first volume of the Dark Tower series. Waiting for its arrival, hope it shows up tommorow. My ex tried to get me into reading it, but I couldnt be bothered. But my best mates on the third book and is just raving about it.

You will NOT be disappointed. The Dark Tower is a fantastic series with a great plot, great story, awesome characters, and interesting concepts that will have you reading towards the end.

On related news, I recently picked up The Mists of Avalon. I'm not sure why I've never read this, but it's about time I did. Also, I've picked up a copy of Stephen Kings Everything's Eventual. It's a book of short stories he wrote a while back. So far, it's pretty good.

However, I'm pretty sure I could have picked up anything and it still would have been better than Twilight. Stephen King > Stephenie Meyer

Actually, better yet: All > Stephenie Meyer
Even better: Shit > Stephenie Meyer :griin:

The most recent book I bought (I think) is either The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. or The Time Machine by H. G. Wells.

While I haven't finished The Sirens of Titan, I ended up getting half way through then stopped reading since at the time I had school, so now I'm beginning to re-read it all and I remembered why I loved it and everything Kurt Vonnegut makes, though I'm also re-reading Godbless You Mr. Rosewater and I love that book to.

And I finished The Time Machine a long time ago and it was very good, then again, I like pretty much anything by H. G. Wells, too bad when they make you read it in school, teacher's tend to make his work more then boring.

The last book I bought was Artemis Fowl and The Atlantis Complex. I'm a huge fan of the Artemis Fowl series, the first 4 books in particular are amazing. However, I've thought that since book 5 the series has declined in quality. Book 5 was so-so, and book 6 is the only one I haven't re-read because it was so awful the first time around.

However, The Atlantis Complex is just... dreadful. It reads like badly written fanfiction, the plot never really goes anywhere and the ending is rushed. Apart from maybe Holly, the characters are basically caricatures of themselves - Foaly in particular suffers from this.

All in all, a huge disappointment, and more evidence that a once brilliant series is now suffering from serious decay.

The last book I bought was "Be Ready When The Sh*t Goes Down A Survival Guide To The Apocalypse" written by Forrest Griffin and Erich Krauss. I actually bought two, one which was officially signed by Forrest Griffin himself and the other for whatever. I gotta admit the Cover alone caught my attention, I wasn't even really aware of this book until about a month ago because I've been reading Forrest Griffin's other book "Got Fight." I had laughed quite a bit when I first saw the cover. The book is not meant to be taken very seriously but he does kinda make some serious points on things in the book. If you're a UFC fan or Griffin fan, it's a fun read. I'm not a big reader but I did find "Be Ready When The Sh*t Goes Down" and "Got Fight" very entertaining.

I haven't bought a book in a long time, but the last one was Jeffrey Deaver's "The Blue Nowhere"

Such a great book. It's about a cat and mouse hunt between two computer hackers.
:spaz:its fuckin awesome

The last book I bought, was DragonRiders of Pern: Skies of Pern & DragonRiders of Pern: All the Weyr of Pern.

The last and recent book that was purchased, however, for me, was the third installment of Eragon and the Dragon Keeper series lol

*begin the "you're a big fat nerd for dragons" hate, I don't care! :busta:*

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
It's actually a requirement for school, but I'm slowly starting to enjoy it. The pace is a little slow, but not dragging. This is the second time I'm reading it, actually. I guess that explains why it doesn't bore me as much as it does some of my friends. =D

Last book I bought, IIRC, would be The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I actually bought it because it was the only fairly thick book I could buy with my coupon :-)elmo:), but I found the story itself enjoyable.

The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

I actually went to the bookstore planning on buying a different book, but it turns out that the book I was looking for isn't even out yet. So I looked around for ages trying to find a substitute, and finally settled for this, because I remembered hearing about my high school library getting it in stock and I guess lots of people wanted to borrow it. Turns out to be a very well written book that is surprisingly addicting. I can't say much about the actual story at the moment since I've only just started reading it but hopefully it keeps me as interested as it has so far.

:hmmm: Last book I bought was Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.

I don't know if any of you have read the Hunger Games trilogy, maybe I'll start a thread, but it's my favorite trilogy in the whole wide world (second to LotR) and this is the final book. The first has such an entertaining read, great story line, but I feel like the trilogy has gone downhill.... I was able to finish the first book in less than a week, the second book in less than 2 days, and this last book is taking me forever. It's depressing, all the characters I love are dying left and right, it's like Harry Potter 7 all over again -_- I just hope this ending will be a great wrap up of the trilogy, otherwise I just wasted $17... plus tax.

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

Got it early since I pre-ordered, I guess. Wasn't expecting to get it earlier than the official release though. I've only just started reading the first few pages but so far it looks like I'll enjoy it. I'm going to try and limit my reading so I don't just fly right through this, it's a pretty short novel and I'd like to make it last since it's been hard to find an intruiging book lately.

Vampire Academy: Spirit Bound.
So far, it is the 5th book in the series, the 6th coming out in December. It is nothing like the shit called Twilight everyone is currently fapping to. It is so much better, like realistic fiction mixed with fantasy, formed into a book that any teen can understand. I give credit to Richelle Mead, the author who I idolize, and I hope her writing career flourishes.

The last book I read was Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind. It is the 8th in a series of 11 books. I really love this writer and this series, I decided to re-read the series because after a few years he has decided to write another book. So I wanted to get pumped up for the next book.

Curse the Dawn, Embrace the Night and Midnight's Daughter, all of which are by Karen Chance. I've got the collection of Cassie Palmer and Dorina now, so I'm pretty glad.

I bought and finished "The Age of Ra" it's a pretty good book by this English author James Lovegrove (yeah, his last name is pretty amazing). He has a whole series which includes "The Age of Zeus" and "The Age of Odin" as well.

Several books from The Vampire Diaries series at such good prices.

The Fury, The Reunion, The Return: Nightfall, Stefan's Diaries: Origins and Stefan's Diaries: Bloodlust. Bargains that came at £18 altogether. They'll keep me occupied for a good long while now.

The last book that I bought and not given to me, was Sir Walter Scott's "Waverly" and the second book of DragonKeeper Chronicles.

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore.

Quite a good read so far, and I've wanted this for a while now. I can see how the film's tied so close to it and even though some events take place at different times, they're really close. John's an interesting character and his relationship with Henri is intriguing.

Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri

It's really for my compositions class, but you know? It's not so bad. It's a fresh look on life, and I guess if you're looking for a slice of life and mellow read this is the book to read. 9/10
