Why do FFFan's hate this game?

Very real??? You think it is normal during a military mission you start to worry about hurting some bimbos feelings who you just have met and you go to apologize to her while you should be doing your mission. Thats just simply stupid. Well I never thought Quistis is smart.

And real would be too that you would go on a happy adventure with a bunch of people and then suddenly one of you would remember that " hey we are from same orphanage, I just can´t remember since I was too drunk ". I would like see that happen.

And if you want seal to something forever you sure won´t make opening mechanism to it.

I stated my reasons of realism earlier, and it did not include anything you stated above.

Secondly, you can quit mocking the game. It's not "DUUURURDUUUDUUURRRRR I REMEMBER YALL COS IM DRUNK!!!!!!!!1oneoneoneoneoneoneoneone:):):);):P:O:mad:"

It is because of the GF that they don't remember their pasts and childhoods. It slowly clouds the users past memories to the point they can hardly remember. Alternatively, it is because Irvine does not use a GF and remembers his childhood, that anyone else remembers because he brings it up after realizing no one else noticed.

I know it is GF what causes amnesia but why then use them? I sure wouldn´t want to forgot my password to my bank account. And who knows if the real reason for amnesia is childhood traumas?

I can mock this game if I want to, not everybody have to like this game but I write things what I found very stupid in this game so someone can explain and try to convert me by telling for example you like the game.

I just happen to like more fantasy worlds than realistic worlds in RPG-games. That is one reason why I think FFXII is better than FFVIII.

I've only bought the game and i'm glad i did. i dont see anything wrong with the junction system i think its okay. Overall i think the game is really good, so is the story as well.

i loved it! i played FFVII first and when i heard about VIII coming out i bought every single magazine and got every demo available - then the game FINALLY came out and (altho a tad dissapointed with it at first) i LOVED it and i still do!! IX on the other hand i have played a grand total of twice.....

lol someone hate FFVIII?this is crazy i listen this first time:)
FFVIII its the best FF from all
the only FF with this perfect game play and story
how someone can hate this game?i dont know...

i thought ff8 was pretty good, i liked the card minigame and there were a lot of summons, and the storyline was pretty good too. If final Fantasy fans don't like this game, then they aren't final fantasy fans at all.

I loved the card game, i got totaly addicted, and it was a fun way of getting all those rare items aswel!

I am still playing this one....lol

I started it....and took me forever to finish the first disc...now on the second disc, and to be honest I cannot even remember what the hell is going on at the moment where I am.....

I will finish it, so I can see how the story ends for myself but other then seeing the end of the story I am not interested in any other aspects of this particular FF. Though not in the rush to finish it. So far my opinions are not that great:

- The story - it is ok....it is not bad at all, I do not agree with saying it is bad because it is not...though from what I have seen so far....IT IS to slow in developing in front of you...it drags out and it gets really really boring at some parts because of that slow factor....

- characters - here I have to say no no no...so far this bunch is the most boring, blend, unintresting buch of characters I have personaly seen ever in a game...absolute boredom, the lines they say, the way they are portraited...there is no personality there what so ever. I know this will upset many people, and I am sorry......I just could not connect with any of this characters while playing even after some good 20 hours of game play...and that is not good in my books....

- Laguna bits are so far the most boring parts of the game...together with pointless annoying unesessary switching between the characters so you can just make one step with them or hear them say one bloody line...waste of time, pointless...I cannot figure out why did they do that... ?

Finally one more thing...I hear so many saying that this FF is more realistic from other FF. I must be completelly stupid because I just cannot get in terms with this so called realism in this game....what is realistic about it ? That they are teenagers and they go to school and they are faling in love or is it because they do not resemble Mr. lego block like Cloud? lol.....now.....please...

pfft. I love the game. It is cool all the way throughout. I haven't completed the thing yet, but i enjoy playing it when i get the chance

Played this game 3-4 times, love it, my first FF, can't see why people don't like it.

So what is good in your books, and please give an example.

If you were an old school Final Fantasy fan, from the very beginning ones, you were use to this more magical, medival, kind of feel to the Final Fantasy world. I know many people who were even dissapointed in FFVII. But FFVIII was way to "sci-fi" for people and a lot of people didn't like the fact that Squall was not your typical hero character in the respect that he didn't do something for the greater good of mankind because he cared from the beginning. Squall struggled with being a hero and a lot of people think that because of that he was the reason the game wasn't Final Fantasy. I think a lot of people would have enjoyed the game more if it didn't have the title Final Fantasy on it. (These are not my opinions, because I personally liked the game, but opinions of my friends.)

You need to get new friends.

And too sci-fi? Isn't FF7 sci-fi too. I hate it when people look for stupid reasons to hate a game, and are closed minded, hate change... IMO those people are boring people...

FF8 was awesome in every aspect, look like though just for me, the Junction system, abilities, commands, a cooool mini-card game, awesome graphics(who didn't think Shiva was hot?).

Honestly, in FFVIII, the character designs where excellent, Squall Lionheart to this day is one of the best designed male protagonist within the game. I really, really liked the characters looks within VIII.

However, my biggest problem with VIII was it's storyline, overall, seriously, it was so boring. Being a FF gamer since the day in the late 80's, I had never played a FF game and fell asleep during the game when I first went through it.

Some parts of the game where really, really fun, however alot of the parts, like the whole running around to get ready to assassinate Edea made me yawn on so many occassions. Another part was the Antagonist...seriously, how many sorcerers/ess did you have to fight? When I got to the end of the game and fought Ultimecia...I had the feeling of like "okay, whatever, I just want to see the ending now."

It wasn't like VI with Kefka where you felt something strong, or nothing as intimate when you where confronting Sephiroth in VII.

Those where the biggest flaws that I saw in VIII, however another smaller part was the Junction System. You can talk all you want, but VIII's junction system that came right after FF VII's Materia System, which is hands down, the Best system ever implemented.

Leaves you to differ, honestly, it was incredibly boring to sit there and draw magic from your opponents all day, that literally was so time consuming, and incredibly boring. However, once you've used the magic stocks too much, it was back to drawing magic out again, which was horrendous. Especially when you where trying to earn the stronger magic.

Equipping these magic stocks onto your character, to beef them up in my opinion was another horrible idea, because it left in many cases, you the player not wanting to use them because the strongest magic stocks where the ones that really benefited your character.

Another drawback to me as well, was obtaining some of the Ultimate Weapons, like for Squall Lionhearts, I guaranteed many of you probably bypassed through the game without getting LionHeart your first try. I found myself in this situation the first time around, because at a certain point in the game, once you don't have the things to get LionHeart, it's over and done with.

That drove me nuts, and luckily I had saved in 3 different timeframes so I could start over, but not entirely too far from where I was originally at to get LionHeart.

One other mistake was Square implementing the TAP System on the Summons...seriously, that was a stupid idea. When the summon comes out, you have to tap in order for it to do more damage??? Please man, given I'm very profecient at tapping (due to fighting games) however it just got old fast, boring and tedious.

One other thing that completely got me frustrated, was Squall's LimitBreak...seriously, now THAT was annoying. Because when your sitting there saying to yourself...please do LionHeart...please do LionHeart...oops...he doesn't do LionHeart. That whole "it's going to random" on his limit break was ridiculous.

Luckily for Squall, Zell was the single best character in the game due to his Limit Break being infinitely superior to Squalls or anyone elses, so that wasn't too big of a loss.

These where to me, the biggest reasons why FF VIII wasn't considered all that great. The whole medieval thing never bothered me, because so long as the storyline is strong, then wether it be castles or gigantic gardens which are schools, it didn't matter. I don't think that should've been a big reason to dislike VIII, or feel that it wasn't a FF game because of it. For it still had all the swords/magics/summons etc.

Visually FFVIII was phenomenal, and a gigantic leap from the Popeye Arms that where in FFVII. Not to mention, some of the music scores where incredibly solid, like the Battle Theme Don't Be Afraid, The Man With The Machine Gun, Eyes on Me Piano Theme etc, but it wasn't VII good, and definetly not VI good (VI had the best scores of any FF game ever).

Overall, I thought FF VIII was okay, honestly, if the storyline had of been better imo, it would've been much better recieved, that to me was it's biggest flaw. However, another factor, which to me, is severely overlooked when talking about FF VIII, was the mere fact that it came out after VII which was the most successful and popular FF game to date.

Regardless, although I feel it was the worst "new gen" FF games this is from VII onwards, I still enjoyed it and liked it. Mainly due to because the character designs where just that great, and I really loved the small things like the Gardens in VIII, always thought it was neat to have a school where they teach you magic, having a training ground, etc, etc.

The gunblade was one of the most unique weapons ever introduced and still one of my favorites, and to some people's displeasement, I actually liked the fact that Squall didn't end up as some anti-hero it's just me still attitude in the end. He gets the girl, and earns his happiness, great ending.

Ps: VIII's ending is one of the best endings for a FF game of all time, imo, tied with VI's Ending.

I'm not going to go into a long discussion but for a while this one of my favorite games. This was my first Final Fantasy game after all.

I do love the junction system, music, and scenery. I'm not much of fan of the characters themselves. The only characters I liked were Quistis and Edea. As for the plot, simply...it wasn't that great... =/

The Draw system was so tedious when you were trying to get 100 copies of each magic. That was the main let down of the game for me.

It wasnt to bad. Im 3 hours in and so far Squall, Zell, Quistis and Seifer have 100 of every spell available so far. Oh and reason I got Seifer drawing is so I can transfer them to Selphie. Trust me, it doesnt take that long.

I hated:
The Draw system (Please, NEVER again)
The insultingly easy difficulty
The fact that the world of VIII was quite future heavy
Chocobo presence (practically non-exsistant)

I disliked (not hated)
The Junction System (just didn't appeal to me)
GF Boosting

It might sound like I thought the game was really bad, however, overall I think that it was a great FF game and included much of that FF magic that I love. It's just that it's lower in my favourites list because it contained, hard to avoid, problems.

Draw+Junction System ='s Failed, because everysingle time you use up the magic, you literally had to go back and re-draw the magic all over again. That made tedious and boring, your only 3 hours into the game, which isn't that bad.

Once you try to draw everysingle magic for all of your characters, that boredom factor will set in, and worst yet, the best magic stocks you will want to equip on your character, and if you use it, the stats will drop for that character.

It was a horrible idea to set the two together. The thing that they should've done was that once you had drawn 100 stocks worth, that you would completely learn the magic and thus would no longer have to draw that particular magic again.

With just that implementation, you wouldn't have to sit there and spend so much time just drawing magic, over and over again. That isn't fun, and it's boring, because nobody wants to sit there and just grind on magic stocks all day, which is what it came down to in the end, especially if you wanted to max out your characters. On the best magic stocks, it was literally an endless cycle.
