Suggestion Why do we even have rep anymore?

I'd like to address some things if you don't mind. ^_^

Now I usually browse the forum a few times a week, and most times once a day. I honestly haven't noticed any 'cliques' since this isn't a highschool drama. I have noticed some people who talk to each other more often, but this is usually just people who participate in different sections of the forums(RPers, GFXers, Shoutbox stalkers, etc). If the rep system was reset I think most of us would lose the sentimental notes left for us by old pals and if it were to be reset, I'd probably agree that there'd be little to no point in keeping it. Not everyone got a boosted rep "just cause". It's like you said members with high rep happened to actually like a few posts and it spread quickly. That's not necessarily a bad thing is it? The Thanks and Like system is just a lazier watered down rep system. It doesn't completely replace it since the two systems are completely different(But I'm not up for providing a compare and contrast list as that should be obvious).

Mits, aka Mitsuki is a well known and watchful Admin who's been here for years. ^_^

Rep isn't hurting anything and it's its own little unique function of the forums. I personally don't think blogs, social groups, or photo galleries are necessary on the forums but you don't see me wanting to get rid of those. I respect the people who may actually find those features fun and let them go about writing blog after blog. Just because I have zero blogs to their +10 and 0 comments by my friends compared to their dozens of comments by their forum buddies doesn't mean the blogs should be reset. Just leave the rep alone. If you don't like it don't use it so the rest of us can be happy with it. It's not that hard to put this topic at rest. ^_^

Well I personally had quarrels with these clique's to a point I didnt enjoy going to this forum.
Its going offtopic a bit ,but I dont got this stuff out of my ass.

Certain ppl actually deliberately posted porn to get banned because of those clique's. Adult members tht have to do such things is a sad thing.

Most of those ppl from the clique's got suspended or left but some are still out there.
Anyways I learned to deal with it etc.

Im just replying to those who quoted me thats all :)

Trick is to get as many comments and from different members for valuable posts. I think thats not the case for the ppl with higher power levels higher than super saiyan 5.

For me personally I dont care what happens as long as the comments stay!
I wish Mitsuki could publish the rep comments lol now tht would be something.

I have to correct myself there are several clique's etc but some is closer with other and other not etc. So they not all bad.

It really is because no one "has" to post porn to get banned. If they want to leave, they can just leave and never sign in again.

As far as rep, well it's just another way to show that you like or agree with someone's post. As some others have added, you can also post comments as well which you can't do with the thanks/likes. If the rep system was a bulky feature that affected the forum negatively then I could see getting rid of it or turning it off. Otherwise, it really isn't a big deal.

but on rep... I have always felt like it should have been toned down to single digit values. Thanks/Like is cool I guess, but I feel like Reputation is just a lot more visually relevant.

But no biggie, just pretend it's not even there

I have honestly only repped like 5 people since the damn thing was implemented. because i'm lazy and shit. which makes thanks/like pretty cool. But just doesn't seem like something super amazing, needed to be done. If someone gets around to it, I'd prefer to keep thanks and have times thanked linked in postbit, but like I said, doesn't seem like a big issue.
 
well I have started using the rep system again over the l;ike/thanks button, I do prefer the rep system as you then have a number..... which then people can see how much good 'or bad' posts you have provided... also with rep I have a aim, to get the biggest number of the lot :mokken:

I never understood what people meant when they said the rep system is being abused. How so? Yes some people have an inordinate amount of it, but so what? Rep confers no advantages or special status, you get nothing for having a higher amount of rep. It makes no difference if you have one or one billion, you get nothing for it. Except magic blowjobs

Rep as a concept is fundamentally broken. People who are repped multiple times then go inactive for ages, will have less rep than someone who was repped once much more recently. This isn't a new phenomenon, it would have happened when rep was in the double digits too. Which means the numbers aren't indicative at all of who has been repped the most times. So to be honest I have no idea why people care what the rep number is, unless they secretly wish they had the more of it
 
because when the values were lower there was actually a point to giving negative reputation, not that many of us ever did haha

its just an odd system in it's entirety without some tweaks and active moderation imo. mostly used just to say your post was funny or something.
 
There was a thread long ago made by aztec where everyone one posted funny reps theyd been given. Id love to find it again but im too fucking lazy. So i might remake it. I have some absolutely fantastic neg reps and im gunna have a another lovely 2 more in the next 10 hours.
 
Rep will not be removed. It is a vital part of our society on FFF. It divides the popular from the less popular. That last part I kid.

Though there is no disputable evidence here to remove it.
