Simply because it's gameplay is awesome.

Look at FF for instance, same old boring stuff, you played 1 game and you've played them all.

Discuss.

Why is this your opinion? Probably because it's your opinion. If you've seen this one opinion before you've seen them all.

Discuss.

Please try not to state your opinion as fact. You can easily be seen as a troll. Oh, and if it wasn't obvious, I disagree.

Although it's a great game, I find that the story is somewhat lacking in comparison to most FF's.

It's all good having an opinion, but the interesting part about a discussion is seeing people's reasoning behind their opinions.
It would be better if you expanded a little so we have such a discussion.

But that's only my opinion. ;))

I'm going to have to agree on that it'd be wise not to express an opinion as a fact for the simple fact that it narrows down any possible conflict of opinion.

All being said, whilst I love Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, I think it's difficult to compare the two because on the whole Final Fantasy is a series of individual games for the most part, whereas Kingdom Hearts is a general series. I prefer the overall storyline of Kingdom Hearts compared to most Final Fantasy titles and even the battle system, but when it comes to uniqueness, music, graphics etc I think Final Fantasy takes it.

KH is better than FF simply because Disney storylines are better than FF ones. Look at Beauty and the Beast or Lion King (it's a Hamlet ripoff I know...bite me) those stories are classic and stay with you. Now FF stories don't stay with you, it's the gameplay that sticks with you...I mean most are simply deus ex machina setups in creative worlds, though the worlds are nice and inspired (with the exception of FF7 always thought "the planet" was a little bland compared to other worlds) I always found the stories to be kind of hollow. When you combine good gameplay with good stories you get...oh my god I don't believe it: A GOOD GAME.

I can't agree with you on that one. I've played some games with some awful gameplay, but the story was always good enough for me to keep playing. I'd much rather prefer a great story, over great gameplay.

Which FF games had awful gameplay? I thought all of them had something innovative and interesting added to the base mix of the style we already know and love. Its rare to see an FF game with a truly amazing story since the stories were made around the gameplay so everything would flow nicely. It's pretty safe to say FF puts gameplay and character development waaaay ahead of story on their list of priorities, nothing wrong with it of course most video games do the same thing. Though I'll admit games like FFIV were very ahead of their time storywise, I've always seen most FF stories as lacking.

I have to disagree. I don't like KH at all, tbh. Never have. I've tried my hardest to get into the game but I just find it to be boring. I'm not knocking anyone who likes it but it's just not for me (although I do love most of the old Disney movies).

I like FF as a whole better than KH though it's not my favorite game series. I find the stories, characters and gameplay to be far more interesting and to my liking.

They failed at the D24/Gambit system method. And while I know this is an opinion, just go play KOTR and you can feel a huge difference in play between that and XII's sluggish use of the system. Innovation doesn't always equate to success.

Also, most people (even some of VIII's biggest fans) agree that the Draw/Junction system was pretty lousy due to its' over-complication and lack of functionality.

This last one's just me, but I though X's Count System was pretty terrible too. Turn-based anything feels like a step back from Active Time Battle.

What? Which FF was made "around" the gameplay and how was this done? I'm sure most people here would disagree with you. FF, more often than not, has been stunning in terms of story and characters. They're kind of what a lot of them are known for.

Also, what about their unis is set up in a deus ex manner? How would that even work?

No, it's not.

i'd have to say they're on par with one another. KH has its pros and cons, and so does FF, although it would be hard to say that KH is better than all FF games.

As far as my thoughts on this goes, and don't get me wrong I like KH, but every FF i've played brought something different and new to the table and therefore (imo) it isn't plain boring and whatever else you said. KH is a good game but I have to disagree on that and how you think it's better then FF in general. It's a toughie, because KH had a GREAT storyline and I liked the Disney characters and whatnot :monster: but overall, i prefer FF. It's fun, edgy and I enjoyed playing every one of the FFs i've played so far.

I don't think Kingdom Hearts is better than Final Fantasy at all. I have tried several times to get into the series, but each time I've lost interest very quickly. Don't get me wrong; I love Disney (well, I love the cartoon Disney films I used to watch in my youth, I hate what they've become now) and I love Final Fantasy. But, fusing the two together just does not work. I'm going to try getting into the series again when BBS comes out, but I think I'm fighting a battle long since lost. It just doesn't appeal to me.

I'm gonna have to go with Ryan on this. I love both the KH and FF series, but KH is a connected series, where as FF is just a series in general, so I think the story and characters throughout the entire KH series trumps an individual, isolated FF game's story and characters - but FF has it's innovation and uniqueness. For me, I couldn't say which is better >.<

I think a more easier question would've been what was better: The FFVII Compilation or Kingdom Hearts maybe? xD

The fact that Final Fantasy is in Kingdom hearts is what makes it great. Kingdom hearts can't be "better" in my opinion because it's a hybreed of FF and Disney. Disney is more liddy and FF is more mature. If there was no FF there'd be no Kingdom hearts. D: Lets face it. Nobody would play a kingdom hearts with just Disney Characters! I don't really think I like this comparison much anyways. it's obvious that FF wins.-it's the original.

And? Being the 'original' does not mean it's the best.

I maintain my opinion, KH > Every FF game put together.

I may be a KH fiend, but I think that Final Fantasy is better than KH. KH's story is not serious enough due to the add-in of disney characters and Final Fantasy's turn based battle system is way better than KH's action style. The newer Final Fantasies battle system is not even that much turned based, if at all. But that is your opinion, first poster :)

Well if you'd like me to quote everyone else on the weak story, I'll go ahead and do it. The plot of the game makes no sense. I'm very confused about the story and the point of hearts. Sure the idea of traveling to different worlds is great but it needs something else. What exactly makes Kingdom Hearts better to you? Nobodies, Heartless, I don't really see how the series got so big besides there being fans of disney and ff coming together.

I'm sorry but the whole series is just weak to me and all the talk about "Hearts" makes it even less appealing to gamers who are more mature. So please tell me, what specifically makes KH seem better to you?

If you don't think FF is that good then why don't you join a Kingdom Hearts Forum? I'm sure there are plenty of them out there. If you joined Final Fantasy Forums then the games must not be all that boring to you.

Seems that you, in stating your opinion, said it like it was matter of factually (yes, that's a word, spell check it. :P), but that really has no right or wrong answer, it is down to each individual gamer's likes and dislikes, a matter of which pros and cons for one franchise outweigh those of the other franchise.

So after someone thinks it through, each person will come to their own decision, their own opinion of which they like best. Surely, some people may share the same opinion as some others, but not all.

I, for one, very strongly prefer Final Fantasy over Kingdom Hearts. But I can't say there isn't a lot of fun to be had, and enjoyment gotten out of the Kingdom Hearts games, just that I am one gamer that simply isn't going to be one of those avid Kingdom Hearts fanboys. xD

I was skeptic when they announced that Final fantasy was going to mix with disney characters. After I finally played KH, I'm still a skeptic
