No spinoffs, but I do want to see a remake. Crisis Core was the last straw when I heard that you found out about what kind of shampoo Sephiroth uses. That's disgraceful.
I wouldn't mind a good sequel. I fear for prequels, though. Usually they are either stories not meaningful to be told or they mess up with the original story when trying to build a meaningful event that should impact the original story, but that in the original story is not important.
For example, Crisis Core is not a bad game, but you often see people with different interpretations of the characters because part base their interpretations mostly on the original game and part base them mostly on Crisis Core. I'd prefer a more consistent "canon" source.
That comes, of course, from someone who values the story most than the rest. For those who are more into the "gameplay" experience, prequels and spin-offs will not hurt their experience too much.
Nooooo, noooo. No more spinoffs, no more prequels/sequels, NO REMAKE PLEASE!!! This game needs to be left alone. Theyve milked this game so damn much already. The game that was once amazing is now becoming annoying and hated. The fanboys are killing this game and the legacy it had for being amazing because no matter how shitty a spinoff or prequel/sequel is, SE knows they will eat that shit up. Let the game lay to rest and be done with it.
Absolutely not, I thought any spinoffs of this game would completely destroy it for me. I hated AC, I hated DoC and I couldn't even bring myself to watch Crisis Core.
I think all the spinoffs show what Square really care about now, it's not about making good RPG's with originality, it's about milking a successful storyline to make as much money as possible. I'm sick to the back teeth of fanboys who only know about Final Fantasy because of one of the spinoffs, especially AC, something that should never have existed.
Come to that, absolutely no remakes either, the game was perfectly fine as it is. They should focus on making good games rather than remaking old ones and then halfassing travesties like XIII and XIV.
I personally like the Final Fantasy VII Compilation but besides wrapping up the Genesis arc I can't see what else they can really do with it storywise. I wouldn't mind a spin-off game where you played as the AVALANCHE members Barrett, Tifa, Biggs, Wedge and Jessie just for the fun of it or a game where you run around hitting people in the face as Tifa but I guess we have Dissidia012 for that.
honestly, i loved 7 comp. Even crisis core was great, mostly because of finishing genesis and making Zack more meaningful than a sword doner. BUT i think square enix should leave it alone now, no remake. No new movie, no spinoffs. I think they should leave its memory untainted, of course as i type this they are probally trying to make another sequel/ prequel, red XIII maybe?
I would not like to see any more spinoffs. I liked Crisis Core and that was it. All the other stuff was garbage. The Advent Children movie looked cool, but kinda of confused me. Not story wise, but I thought some of the characters were different compared to the game. Then again, there's not much I can derive from text and polygon figures. But I think VII should stay closed and completed. I don't even want a remake.
Well, considering the Secret Ending of Dirge of Cerberus, they sort of have to. "We still have much work to do, My Brother." Also, SE said that for Final Fantasy 15 ideas they were asking people if they wanted a completely new game, or a sequel for FF7. Because of FF7 Dirge of Cerberus' secret ending, it leaves a spot open for one, however I do think the FF7 story is going on a while.
Also, the ending for the game implies (if you people have seen or played the game you will know what I mean) that he would be a good guy. Then who's the bad guy? Sephiroth, again? Someone new?
I was going to flat out refuse the idea of more spin-offs/sequels, but prejudice aside I don't mind if they did make another spin-off or sequel, but only if it's done well. Although if they do make one, it's kinda obvious that they would follow up on Genesis and that gets a no from me. Sorry, Genesis fans...but I got sick of him and Loveless in CC. If (when?) they do make one I'll still check out the trailer though, at least. I'm a good fangirl
One thing I do not want is a remake. Why? Because they'd probably have to censor/change some parts of the game (Honey Bee Inn Comes to mind) and it won't be the FFVII we knew and loved. Also they'll most definitely try to shoehorn Genesis into it somehow... (still not over how they changed the Nibelheim scene... -.-)
No more sequels and spinoffs. Advent Children was the only one that pleased me; not so much the plot but seeing our favorite characters designed with modern graphics and watching them in intricately designed fight scenes.
Honestly, the way I see it: don't fix what's not broken. I think perhaps a prequal would be just fine but that is how far you can take it at most. When you try to make too many remakes you are ignoring the fact that the original FF7 was the best not these remakes, be honest with yourself did you not feel a sense of acomplishment finishing a certain disc in the PSX version?
Hmmm I cant begin to count how much FFVII never ends almost like Kingdom Hearts with many different things and avoiding the 3rd one. But anyway since I dont hate any of the titles for FFVII I actually want them to keep going, they allready gave a game personally for Vincent,Zack and the turks, I kind of want to a see game personally for Yuffie and flesh out her character even more. I wouldnt mind another movie like seriously Advent children did great, no complaints from me If they wanna make a part 2.
Sequel? Sure. Just flash the timeline a couple of hundred years like they did with Lufia. I guess it would be unfair to call it a continue of the FFVII franchise in particular, but something along those lines. Can be related to Jenova, Sephiroth or Cloud and co, because doing it that way allows for the writers to maintain canon but still introduce new elements that can freshen up the franchise.
The other characters I think lack an interesting enough background story to tell that is liked enough to be a main selling point if doing it the other way around. We've already got Zack and Vincent. The only other character I can think of is Sephiroth's past which could help to expand upon his motives and motivations, but I still think it is doubtful what this would add since it would most likely become another Crisis Core but told from Sephiroth's perspective.
What I'd prefer is either a) a remake of the original game with improved graphics (and less shoddy translation) and/or b) another CGI movie (although more likely OVA) based on the original game. The FFVII world is kind of hard to continue though because the current lore is so exhausted new lore elements must then be introduced but then it is of course questionable whether it is just a new FF game rather than explicitly FFVII.
Cloud's past up until when he joins SOLDIER could work, but doubtfully so, while it could help to develop the player's understanding between him and Tifa's relationship (although again, do we need that)?
Possibly, very possibly, a book based on FFVII that is not as confusingly written as the short stories and novellas released prior to AC.
No, let it rest. I think SE got the whole story out by now.
Besides, I can see them just recycling and rehashing the same concepts from their previous FFVII titles. Same old, same old. You'll know what to expect.
You know even if they did decide to remake the game, I wodner how it will fare without the Sakaguchi, Uematsu and the res of the team? I know they are still there but still how will they do it? I don't hate Crisis Core or Advent Children but to be honest, I don't really like all the rock music that permeates them unless it is accompanied by instrumental music.
Yeah I think there should be a sequel. The prequels have already been covered via BC, and CC. AC gave a sequel, DOC, also gave a little extra into the dark past of Vincent and Shinra Inc. but left an opening that ties directly to CC. Genesis has not been finished and has awakened again much like Sephiroth did in FFVII. I would love to see a movie or a game either way. Personally i think a movie would be better unless they made a CC type game where you play as Cloud but for the PS3. NG consoles have taken over anyway so...that's my opinion. And even if they did do another PSP game I wouldn't mind either.
Hate them? Nah. Maybe I find them unnecessary? But FFVII wasn't my favourite game at all out f the series, so I am not really the one pushing for anything more. I guess saving the spin off games is good for VII because it had the one of the most complicated backstories, and really it needed a game to fully explain (ie CC).
