I got an obsession for role-playing games and stuff like that, but i aswell love horror games as much as RPGs... What do you think of horror games?
[One more thread for my boredom]

I'll shift this thread over to Rocket Town, since that's where video game discussions belong ^^

I love horror games. Though i must admit that they do scare me, but thats the reason i like them so much. The last great horror game i played was dead space, it was fantastic, it had me on edge throughout the whole game. Silent hill was always a favourite aswell, even the original would still scare me today and i probadly wouldnt want to play it alone >_> Along with RPGs and action games, horrors are my favourite genre of game.

I prefer games with a creep atmosphere to horror games. I like horror games, and when the monsters jump out, I'll jump a little bit, but that doesn't really constitute horror to me. Forbidden Siren 2 is a good example of this, first hour or so was genuinely creepy, and a little unnerving despite the cliched opening, but I was enjoying it on the Island until you got to the first zombie thing, which kind of ruined it for me.

My favourite Horror game is Silent Hill i just recently completed silent hill 2 again ( it's my favourite one )

Pyramid head is such a great Villian he scares the life out of me but there is something i love about him good old PH :)

I'm a huge horror game fan myself.

And I'm a major Silent Hill fan. I've been obsessed with the series for years now. I just have to get a PS3 to play Homecoming.

But yeah, I love the thrill, and the solving puzzles and whatnot. I love the adventure involved in it really.

I don't find horror games all that good unless they're generally creepy and jumpy, I mean I suppose Resident Evil could be classed as a horror in a way (possibly?) but I've only played the demo of RE5 out of the whole series and never once got the impression the game would be scary, however, games like F.E.A.R scared the shit out of me, especially with the use of the little girl...I only ever once played it in the dark on my own and that was enough >.>

So yeah, I like horror games but they have to be creepy >.>

i like resident evil games and dino crisis but i hate silent hill, i'll just stick to RPG's thanks

They scare the bejeebus out of me. Especially those games like Silent Hill that aren't so bad until suddenly the music spikes up and there's just this random SCREAM coming out of nowhere. >_>

Unless it's just hack and slash/blood and gore. That's not even that scary tbh. -_-

I haven't played a horror game in years actually. It's not that I don't like the genre though, far from it. The first Silent Hill was fantastic, and Silent Hill 2 is in my top 5 favourite games ever, but Silent Hill 3 left me a bit disillusioned with the genre. The monsters were more laughable than scary, and the focus seemed to have shifted from the creepy atmosphere and suspense of SH 1 and 2, to a more action orientated gameplay.

I completely agree with you, the last time I played a true horror game, I had a seizure from the blood covering the screen. Simple hack and slash games are a lot better; and if the people you're eviscerating aren't regular, everyday joes, I'm fine with it. My conscience seems to have control over my controllers...

do i like horror games

well i love horror games there like the best mode games but there are some better kinda of games reality crimes games like GTA IV lol but yh i love all the resi games and i loved the thing (game from like 2004)

Im a fan of horror, dino crisis, resident evil 0-3, and obscure the after math just to name the few i played recently, But i wont count resident evil 4 and 5 they just went away from the seris and really upset me, i have never played silent hill but it sounds like a good game.

I love the Criminal Origins games.
The first was probably scarier. I still like the second one though.
I like to play horror games at night with all the lights off.
Usually with friends over. It's funny when they get freaked out.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil are my absolute favorite horror games, but games like Condemned and Siren creep me out too. And, I love that feeling of fear that I get from playing them... especially at night, which causes extreme paranoia. :)

Dead Space is a great game. Better if you DON'T have a friend sitting next to you telling you whats going to happen though. The later levels get pretty creepy and intense. The menu screen also increases the tension. Great horror game to play alone. Though it does have it's let backs like most games.

Yes. Same here. Have you tried Silent Hill Origins for PSP? Damn it's creepy, i'm stuck at Mental Hospital. The background voices that you hear, screamings etc. All that will make the Silent Hill Origins the creepiest horror game for the PSP.

i don't tend to find many games scary...so i wouldn't class much as horror in my opinion..but if one comes along, i will like it

System Shock 2

You like Dead Space? You like BioShock? You like Doom 3 (god forbid)? The System Shock series is the inventor of the plot-driven horror shooter. And the second game specifically is a forgotten classic. The Cyberpunk themes mixed with horrific environments and heavy PC RPG gameplay makes it a big favorite on my list (my sig graphic is for this game, after all).

And yes, if you noticed a similarity between System Shock and BioShock's title, BioShock is basically a remake, changing the Cyberpunk elements to Steampunk and changing the setting from spaceships and space stations to an underwater city in the '50s and '60s built upon Randian principles that fell apart at the seams. BioShock isn't quite as nerve-wracking and skin-tingling creepy as System Shock 2, but it is also quite fun and is the easiest way most people can get a hold onto the feel of System Shock 2.

This game really gives you the feeling of being utterly alone, despite having help via PDA Radio that's always out of reach. And it seems to always know how to give you hope in finding more survivors, only to dash your expectations.
