I regret using aeris up until she died. I was super pissed off. I also regret coming home every day form school and playing it until i had to go to sleep. prbably one of the reasons i failed a grade and got bad eye sight lol.
damos right >.< i used cheats to see how easy it would be and it completly ruined the game so i went back and did it all over again without them but because of the cheats ect i knew almost everything about the game so it was still too easy -.- i sooo wish i never used cheats
1. I thought it was a 2 player game because in the beginning you play as Barret and Cloud so i had my brother play as Barret even though he wasn't. We spent 20 minutes trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with our controllers.
2. In the very beginning i didn't know how to use ANY magic or items so i found it very frustrating to fight the scorpion boss. It wasn't until like my 8th attempt (on first time through) that i found out how to use items and magic.
3. I was MASSIVELY overleveled because i wouldn't know where to go. One example was when your in the reactor and you just get off the elevator. I couldn't figure out where to go after i got off the elevator so i ended up killing like 200 shinra guards. Another time was that junkyard where the attacking house monster was while your escorting Aerith. I didn't know i could run up the piece of lumber so i spent another 2-3 hours just fighting monsters there.
3. Trying to take on Zolom i think a total of 10+ times thinking i have to beat him in order to progress the storyline. (the water snake where all you need is a chocobo)
4. I ended up quitting my first time through when i couldn't beat Sephiroth (got there without a guide at least). It wasn't until after i beat FF8 that i said "you know what that was fun i think ill give FF7 another try. Got a guide and it was 100x easier and i managed to get some stuff. Now i've beaten it like 7 or 8 times and have done everything you can do in that game.
I phailed at Midgar Zolom countless times.
Too hard for the beginning of the game. =[
I was however lucky enough to skitter across the swamp once without a chocobo. XD
I ran directly to the midle of the swamp, saved the game, reloaded, and took off again before the zolom reached me. lolol.
Cheating, I know. <33333
i still to this day haven't completed FFVII and i'm proud of it. I got the game when it first came out and i'm still tryni to complete it for the first time lol but i have a reason, everytime i start getting somewhere in the game someone steals my memory card, and with that i have to start all over again lol but i'm loving it
I played through with only a little help from walkthroughs on parts such as codes and combinations. Oh, and at one point I didn't know what to do, I read how to get Quadra Magic (with just the Highwind) and a Tetra Elemental.
I tried to keep the story from being spoiled for me, but before it happened, I found out that
Sephiroth kills Aeris,
thanks to Wikipedia's ignorant use of a picture of it. I mean, I can scroll past text, but ignoring images is hard.
I did use Aeris, and after I found that out, I leveled other characters as well. My party was Cloud, Aeris, Barret, then Cloud, Tifa, Barret, then finally Cloud, Tifa, Red XIII for most of discs 2-3. (I might have used Vincent if I hadn't missed him.) Aeris/Tifa was my E. Skiller/Healer, Barret/Red XII were physical/elemental magic, and Cloud was physical/summoner. I made it through the game pretty well because I did a lot of exploring, which means I fought a lot of enemies, which means I leveled up a lot.
The story itself brought tears to my eyes several times. One of the great parts was when on the Highwind, after Cloud found himself, they all shouted the old mantra, "Ain't no gettin' off this train!" That along with Cid's Theme made me a very happy gamer. The first great part is when Sector 7 collapsed, and Barret was weeping for Marlene and the rest of AVALANCHE, wondering what it was all for.
EDIT: OMFG and when Red XIII howls for his father. Holy crap. *spine shivers*
There were lots of other dramatic parts in the story, as well. One example is when I was waiting for Diamond Weapon to hit the beaches around Midgar. I was standing at the edge of the water ready to kick some ass. Another example is after
Aeris was killed
you fight Jenova, and I was like "OMG you are so dead." I almost died in that battle, lol.
Then there were some jaw-dropping moments, such as when one of the Weapons got smoked in the face by the Junon gun.
The above experiences happened only a few weeks ago; I just recently played and beat the game for the first time. It was awesome. I can't wait to get back to it with a full blown walkthrough and totally pimp my characters out. But this game put me on a classic RPG spree; right now I'm doing Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Then I'm going to start at FF 1 and play through FFX, skip FFXI and FFX-2, then lastly do FFXII. I've never played any of these (except a small amount of FFX). It's going to be fun.
i had a hard time after u had gone back to the factory for like the third time then i got mad and quit but then i missed it and went back and kept playing
I had enormous expectations, but I played it during the current gen, so it was obviously lacking. It wasn't bad, I just severely disliked the battle system.
