I absolutely love Final Fantasy VII, VIII and X. Thankfully this poll allowed me to vote for all 3 games because I just can't choose between the three.
If you'd put a gun to my head, I'd just go with the version I'd be playing at that moment.

I voted for FFX. I liked all the FF games I played sofar, but this one the most.

Besides the sometimes horrible voice-acting and blitzball, everything about this game is great. The plot addresses a lot of interesting themes like the power of religion and sacrifice besides the usual boy-meets-girl-and-kills-the-great-evil-and-saves-the-world story. On top of that, the characters don't seem like a bunch of random people (who a fill a particular niche in battle, what a coincidence! ;-) ) who have been forced togetherby circumstance, but are a team which work together to reach a goal they all choose for themselves.

The sphere grid system is also quite nice once you get the hang of it, it gives you more freedom to 'build' a character to your preferences instead of the usual 'character X is a good black mage and a crappy everything else'.

Add 'To Zanarkand', one of my favorite songs, and you have instant win. :D

I still don't get the huge popularity of FFVII. In my opinion it was a good game, but VIII, IX or X were just as good and also have nice (3d) graphics, stylish villains, cool characters, funny jokes, sad scenes and brilliant music.

Erk hard to choose for me between FFVII and FFVIII. I loved both of their storylines! I think I'd choose FFVII because it's got Aerith in it :P and 'cause it was the first FFVII game on Playstation that had the best graphics in 1997. Also the storyline was pretty good! Sure I admit it's getting overrated because of all those AC lovers out there, but it was also my first FF game. :)

FFVII

It was'nt the first FF nor RPG I played in my life like it was to many other FF fans but when I saw Advent Children I got really interested about the original game.

I like the story which is exciting to the very end, characters are personal and music tracks are pretty good too.

About characters I got very interested about Cloud. Maybe because I see pretty much myself in him (loner personality, not interested to mess anyone else to my of problems, little bit self-pity(?) and I like BIG SWORDS :awesome:)

I went ahead and picked VII, VIII and X on the poll. I'm aware it's asking for the 'best' Final Fantasy game, and so after a long think I decided on...

Final Fantasy VIII!

It was close since I love each game dearly, but I lovex10 FFVIII. That's just 1 more than I love the other 2.

FFVIII was just, amazing. The story was just perfect, I loved it. Everything about it. =D The whole twist and turns of events was especially something to comment on, I can recall that my jaw hit my bed more times than I can count. (Especially
when Balamb Garden just ups and flys away!
)

The characters, well, they were quite a bunch. They all came from different walks of life, which added a lot of variety to the game. Especially Irvine... or I'm just an Irvine fangirl. :3

It had a really interesting story and wasn't afraid to go 'out there'; if you get what I mean.
Going out into space, anyone?

The only let down was Rinoa. I can say with confidence, I absolutely detested her. But apart from that, fantastic game.

FFVII & FFX

FFVII edges it, the most Epic game i have ever played, brings back memorys of getting the old PSX and renting the game out from the libary and not taking it back for weeks

It's a tie for me between IV VI and VII, they all have there positives and memorable moments, heroes and villians, IV was the first FF game to take villians onto there own pedestal, granting them there own theme and proper backgrounds, a trend that carries on to this day.

VI was a milestone upon itself, giving each character there own story (rather than the laserbeam focus upon the main character as its predessors) and bringing to the FF world some of the most well known villians of which some still make regular appearances (Kefka, Ultros and Typoon)

VII was the beginning of a formula that still exists within the core heart of FF titles to this day (the limit gauge system) and was the first of the series to allow for true character customisation, not to mention its debatably still the most popular of the series with larger than life heroes and villains alike.

I think FFX takes the cake, honestly. It had a really movie-esque feeling to it and it made you become drawn more so than you already would have become. The characters were all good none of them annoyed me, I didn't really have a character that peeved me, Well, Seymore and is creepy voice but thats really all, and besides your supposed to hate the bad guy XD

The story was very original, there was a perfect inner conflict, Tidus and Jecht, Yuna was a very selfless character which made me like her all the more.

All in all it was an almost perfect game :ohshit:

My favourites are from 7-10 as well as War of the Lions.
But, if I had to choose, my favourite is FF9. All of the characters are great, although Amarant is a bit of a shallow character. And who can deny that Brahne is one of the greatest villains ever? I don't think anyone can like how greedy and evil she gets...which is what makes a great villain.
The music is amazing and a lot of the soundtracks seem to come from Melodies of Life, which is one of my favourite FF songs.
The story is addictive, and how you don't have to choose between the characters until the 3rd disk is how I'd like party formation to be made throughout the game; automatically.
Also, it has the most nostalgia value for me ;))

All Final Fantasy games are good, if you compare them to another RPG's you will find final fantasy the best one.
For me, FFIX is the best :) (until now because I didn't play X, also I'm still in disk 1 in VII).

Final Fantasy VI will always hold a special place in my heart as being the best FF game in my opinion :ryan:

I do have a feeling that games after FFVI seem to be more style over substance (X can be an exception). FFVI never had the lush 3D graphical treatment that FFVII received. So to compensate, FFVI made up for its obselete visuals with a immersive story and deep characters.

The story is simply amazing for a Final Fantasy of its day. Seeing Terra as a protagonist was fresh- and I love her place in the story. Celes is also a character I love a lot- you can see the suffering she faced- and her attempts to show to the party that she is no spy as well as her interactions with Locke.

Kefka is an amazing villain purely because of how evil he is. Most villains want to destroy or conquer the world. Kefka, being the powerful, loony clown he is, manages to destroy the World of Balance. I love the fact that his insanity is not natural, but caused.

I feel you!! A lot of people I know say FF9 was the weakest 1 but, I always enjoyed playin' it the most and I would say that it's probably my favorite.

I've gone fo VI, but my mind may change.
For me, the story was spot on, the characters where brilliantly designed, 2d GFX are ace, the level system worked well for me.

All in all, Id say that FFVI is the finest of the series to date. But i haven't played XIII yet...

Oh, I just have to agree with you and Battleborn. 9 is THE best. Funny how it come out the same year when the PS2 made its debut.

Call me a geek, but Garnet/Dagger was my first AND only FF crush I ever had. That's not the only reason, although one of my top ones. I also loved the plot, the sountracks, the battle system. Actually, pretty much everything in that game caught my attention. FF fanatics need to play it NOW if they haven't already. :)

I liked VIII the best. I did think it was pretty easy, but the characters and story were what did it for me. I think it had a very strong story and had characters that I really cared about alot. Plus, it brought back fighting the summoned monsters to obtain them for the most part, which was missing in 7.

I think another reason was because I really related to Squall. He was introverted and really didnt like people that much, but at the core he had alot of love to give and was a good person. You got to see him open up, and Ive seen myself be open up by some people in my life at one time and how much better of a person they can make you/make you strive to be.

I love the two the same

I'm tossed with VI and VII. Everyone I know would say mine is VII and its a great game, but VI is a lot more in depth. Seven was the more commercial made. Everyone liked it. Somehow VI stayed in the shadows and is not talked about a lot as a great game. Anyways its a tie between VI and VII.

Never played VI, but I heard of it. It has that maniacal clown named Kefka, right?

In my opinion, he's the BEST FF villain. Only he and FFIX's Kuja actually
accomplish their evil plans
. 'Nuff said, I guess. Sorry for the off-topic remark, though.
