It was said by Squeenix that FFXIII would not have any exclusive enhancements with its 360 port... remember... again... it is still a Japanese PS3 exclusive... nothing will be added to a Western only port... so anyone who was thinking that can stop now.

I'm VERY happy about this. The only next gen system I have is the 360. When I got it I was pissed that I won't be able to play alot of the new FF games. But now I'm very pleased :D

I am happy to hear that it will be also available on the Xbox 360, and, even though I have both systems, I think I'm going to get it for the 360, it's an amazing system. ^_^

I also cant see it looking as good on a 360 and like I said if the 360 version doesnt at least match the ps3 version then I wont buy it. So it probably isnt a good idea for SquareEnix to port it to other consoles if they cant make it look as good. Although if they added enhancement to the 360 version I might still buy it.

Graphics whore much? Look, we all know the PS3 has superior graphic capabilities...but at this stage, most PS3 games don't take advantage of that so there really isn't a whole lot of difference. Hell, GameTrailers are such stupid graphics whores that they make side-by-side PS3/360 comparisons of games, and there's never any substantial amount of difference. I've actually seen some multi-platform games that have looked better on the 360.

Basing your decision on buying a game by whether or not its graphics are up to your outrageous standards is shallow, and in the end you only end up depriving yourself of a good experience. I'm probably going to buy Star Wars: The Force Unleashes for my PS2 instead of waiting to get a 360 and getting it on there. Why? Extra content, cheaper price, and I couldn't give a damn if the graphics are inferior. You're still getting the same gameplay, so it doesn't matter.

On a slightly more humorous note, I saw this on /v/ and lol'd:

Obviously made by someone who hates Microsoft, but regardless it's funny. If the RROD actually looked that pretty I bet people wouldn't even mind it :wacky:

I don't like the sound of it the ps3 is far the better system as i had a 360 at one point then sold because it was the worse system ever, i think the original ff series should just be left to ps3 and spin off's should be for the 360, if anything put vs XIII on 360.

I like this interview with Hashimoto .

SH: We want to share as much of our games with many people as possible and felt this was the right time to do so.

WhatIfGaming:But in order to share as much of its games as possible, wouldn’t Square Enix want to make Star Ocean IV on the PlayStation 3 as well?
SH: We want to share as many as possible, but sometimes certain conditions come in the way that prevent that. Next question please.

What a idiot... We want to share the experience with as many as possible... Just no ps3 users. ?

The difference between Star Ocean's 'certain conditions' and FFXIII, is that like I've already pointed out, Square-Enix lost a large amount of money and Microsoft apparently 'bought' FFXIII because they took advantage of SE's money troubles, whereas Sony might not be willing to pay out to bring SO to the PS3.

So it's really up to Sony as well if they want SO or not.

I would say it is more likely that Microsoft paid to have SOIV exclusive while FFXIII seems to be more of a business decision from SE.

Uh oh, someone is upset they bought the wrong console :neomon:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in this new console generation, "as many as possible" means the 360, not the PS3 (or the Wii, if you're going for the casuals, who obviously won't buy RPGs). And with this Netflix deal, the 360 is probably going to gain even more people. It's certainly a broader, more established service than Sony's movie store.

That too. Sony can't afford to pay companies huge chunks of money any more in order to keep exclusive titles, and the Final Fantasy titles DO sell better in America and Europe, where the XBOX 360 is more popular. It's common sense to release it on the 360, stop crying.

I know this might sound stupid but I don't know what all the fuss is about. If its coming out on both consoles it means you don't have to go out to buy the other. I'm thinking about getting an X Box cos I wouldn't go anywhere near a ps3. So if its coming out on both, goody for everyone!

I'm not a big Star Ocean fan... so... egh... truth be told, I've actaully been intending to get an XBox360 for a while now becasue I have this weird thing with Zombies... and I loved Dead Rising, but one game was never worth the price to me... but now, after E3, they presented a bunch of new Zombie games, and then revealed taht Fallout 3 would have exclusive content for the 360... so... I'm finally going to get aroudn to buying one, now... so... heh, go figure. FFXIII will still be bought and played on the PS3, though... so :P

In the 1UP Yours podcast released recently on 1up.com, Shane Bettenhausen talks about the possibility of another Square-Enix title, coming exclusively to the Playstation 3. He says after talking to Square-Enix representatives that:
"The Final Fantasy XIII on 360 announcement swung the ball towards Microsoft. At Square Enix's Japan event in 2 weeks, they will swing the ball back towards Sony".
It sounds like Square-Enix's DKΣ1373 Private Party in Japan might actually reveal something new to us not attending. Of course we can only speculate whether or not it's a Final Fantasy title but we can always hope.

It looked interesting when I read it, and the Sony fanboys/Microsoft haters might be happy to read it. :)

Actually it doesn't sound stupid, it sounds sensible and level-headed. Unfortunately there are plenty of blind Sony fans out there humping their precious company's leg while simultaneously disregarding the fact that the FF franchise has never been exclusive to Sony. And then you have your graphics whores who wouldn't dare touch a version with slightly inferior graphics, despite current PS3 games being around the same graphical level as 360 games.

Everyone should be happy, and all the 360 owners are, but rabid fanboys will never be pleased.

Beautiful.

Square made this decision consciously and in my opinion it's a brilliant strategy.

I would of preferred it to stay exclusive just for arguments sake, and the fact it feels I'm getting more out of my PS3 by it being exclusive. But other than that I'm not bothered, I'll probably re-buy an Xbox by then anyway, still a PS3 purchase for me though!

Whenever people say "Why did you sell you Xbox and buy a PS3" There's seems to be getting less reasons why....:(

I'm glad its going on the 360 now I wont have to spend that much cash.Plus I think Square is doing the right thing by putting 13 on both 360 and ps3. :) It's a win for everybody.

If you're Sony you'd be annoyed, as i think its sales of the PS3 would have risen to coincide with the release of FFXIII.

However as a consumer, this could help bring the PS3 down to a more competitive price with the 360, but I'm not gonna hold my breath!

I don't see what the big cuffuffle is about. If someone want the PS3 version, they should buy it. If they don't want the X-Box 360 version, no one is forcing them to buy the 360 version. Fanboys really need to shut up.

I'll probably get the PS3 version anyway. Not because I think it'll have better graphics, but because I'm a strange person who would rather have a PS3 than a 360. I'm not particularly bothered by SE's decision to port it to the 360. On their part it's quite an intelligent decision to do, as it means more money for them.

It likely would have been like the MGS4 bundle, only maybe slighter bigger due to America being filled with weeaboos and most weeaboos love FF. It probably would have spiked sales for a couple months, and then things would go back to normal.

Not a chance. Sony is refusing to drop their price any further, they can't. In America they're already selling it for the price it costs to make, that's why they've lost so much money. They're probably counting on people to buy more units once they release the 80 gig model...but I doubt it will sell very well once more people realize it's not going to have backwards compatibility.
