:gasp: What aboot Abby?! Poor her... lol I will update the first post in a min Minerva. ACK! I cannae believe i said "eye out of her eyes!" :gasp: It's cause I know you so well Sonny :D. Also! Sonny join the damn fad! I've changed my name to Rene Skylar, Faith's name has always been Faith lol CHANGE YOURS TO FILDEN GURITO DAMMIT! :D

Chapter 29: Eternal Slumber

“Rowan! I’m here!” Rene shouted as he ripped his blade out of it’s sheathe
and stabbed it into the nearest enemy soldier. Several knights behind him
fell, each one with an arrow through their necks. Rene spun his head
upwards and spotted Rowan, she winked at him before leaping of her
perch and landing nimbly beside him.

“You’re late to the party Rene!” She shouted as she fired more arrows of
into the distance, Rene grinned before sending a man flying into the crowd
with a fireball.

After several minutes of intense battle the area was finally cleared, as
Rene drew his blade from his final enemy he felt someone tap his shoulder.
He spun round, blade ready.

“Woah, hold it steady Rene.” Abigail smiled at him, Rene relaxed at the
sight of her. “Here lemme heal those wounds.” She took her hand to the long cut on his forearm and traced it with her finger tip, as she did so her hand glowed a dull green and slowly healed the wound. When it healed,
Rene grabbed her and hugged her.

“Thank fuck you’re here Abby! We were worried about cha.” Rene told her,
Rowan walked towards them and smiled.

“Alright, here’s the plan then. Currently we’re two clicks away from our
target, but by then Rene will be long gone, you’ve only gotta go down the
street and we’ll have to break off.”

“Wait, why has he got to break off?” Abby asked, not knowing Kara and
Lily were in the orphanage.

“Kara and Lily,” Rene told her, Abby gasped and held her hands to her
mouth.

“Shit! I lost them earlier when it all began!” Abby calmed herself down and
smiled. “Well let’s go find ‘em then!”

“Seen Kamui by any chance?” Rowan asked her as her men began to get
their stuff ready. Rene noticed that Rowans group wore uniforms like her.

“Nope, Can’t say I have.” Abby told her.

“Why do your men wear different uniforms to the other soldiers.”

“They’re my team! One fifth of the elite groups.” Rowan smirked “Anyway,
once we reach the end of the next street, you two will break off and head
down the alley. I don’t know the way so you guys will just have to figure
it out for yourself.”

Rene nodded, he sheathed his sword and smiled at Abby. “White mage
might come in handy, but you sure you wanna come?”

“Absolutely bro’! What would you do without me?” Abby grinned.

Kamui’s katanas spun as he slashed through several soldiers. His cool calm
face frightened anyone in his way, though they were only frightened for a
minute, they were dead soon enough.

“Hmph. Easy.” He muttered to himself as the last soldier fell and he
sheathed his blades. He began to walk off when he heard a loud sound
behind him, he quickly spun but it was too late. The massive fireball was
about to hit him. Then, all of a sudden, a man in a black robe appeared.
The mans long silver hair was the only thing visible as the fireball
connected with his blade and dissipated. He quickly threw the blade and
killed whoever the mage was before reaching his hand out and summoning
the blade once more.

“Lucky thing I got here huh?” Riku told Kamui as he turned round.

“I could’ve taken it.” Kamui replied. “Why are you here?”

“Been found out, best thing to do now is stay here and try to help on this
end.” Riku smiled and Kamui turned round, ahead of them were many
soldiers.

“Mine or yours?” Kamui asked.

“Well, we got a situation right now so how’s about we both take ‘em
down?”

“Alrighty.” Riku shouted as he charged forwards with a ball of darkness
coming out of his hand, Kamui jumped high into the air and connected
both his blades. He summoned his magic and put it into his blades before
bringing them into the earth and sending a massive shockwave out.
Soldiers went flying and Riku seized that moment of distraction to swiftly
defeat the soldiers around him. He jumped forward and quickly decapitated
the final remaining soldier.

“Easy…” Kamui smirked. Riku sheathed his blade and smiled.

“Now then, about that situation I talked about…”

“Almost there now…” Rene whispered as they snuck through the alleys,
the district with the orphanage in had been overrun and the pair had to
avoid anyone seeing them.

“Admit it Rene, we’re lost…” Abby told him for what seemed to be the
hundredth time.

“I really mean it this time!” Rene told her.

“You said that last time too!” Abby hissed at him. She spun round and
lashed out at soldier who had been following them for the past 20
minutes. As Abby looked at him for the first time her eyes widened in
surprise. The soldier was wearing a full suit or armour but it wasn’t made
of metal, or any other type of material she had seen before either. The
soldier had a brand new type of gun, she lifted it, aimed and pulled the
trigger. A small orange beam shot out of it and decimated the ground it
hit. It was powered by magic.

“This is really weird Rene, it’s extremely advanced…” Abby sighed.

“Leave it alone Abby, you don’t know how they work. Look! There’s the
orphanage!” Rene pointed at a large building at the end of the alley, Rene
then saw the extremely large group of soldiers. “This uhh might be a bit
harder than I thought.”

“Understood, let’s go.” Kamui told Riku.

“I’ll go on ahead. See if I can be of any help?” Riku told him, he clicked his
fingers and summoned a dark portal behind him.

“You know, you don’t have to click your fingers like that?” Kamui told him
smirking.

“I know, I know. It just makes it look cooler.” Riku smirked before raising
his hood and jumping backwards into the portal.

Kamui turned and began to walk up the road towards his new destination.

“KAMMY!” Dawn shouted from the alleyway she had just emerged from.
Her blonde hair was drenched in water.

“Dawn, good to see you.” Kamui said to her.

“Why are you here on your own!? Don’t you realise that people are
dying!?” Dawn shouted at him.

“I’m heading to the orphanage, Rene is there and I’ve heard reports that
the Shadow Mercs are heading that way to reinforce the soldiers already
there.” Dawn gasped.

“But if Rene tries to take them on he’ll be massacred!”

“That’s why we have to get there quickly.”

“YEEEEEEE HAAAAA!” Rene shouted as he smashed his foot into a soldiers
face and slashed another chest. Abby was at the sidelines healing him
whenever he needed it and smashing soldiers faces in with her staff. Rene
spun in mid air before drawing his gun and shooting 3 soldiers. He landed
nimbly and summoned his magic, he twirled his blade around him and
created a small whirlwind, all you could see was flashes of metal and
soldiers flying everywhere. Rene finished his move and staggered around
for a few seconds dizzy. The soldiers used this to their advantage and
attacked at once. Several soldiers rushed him at once but quickly found
themselves on the ground, each one with an arrow in them. Rene quickly
righted himself and spotted where the arrows had come from. He saw
Rowan on the roof.

“Thought you might need a hand!” Rowan shouted as she fired more
arrows. They had underestimated the amount of soldiers around the
orphanage. Turns out that it was a key place for their strategy.

“Never woulda said no!” Abby shouted up to her as Rene drove his blade
deep into a soldiers abdomen, he kicked the body off and spun round
slashing another’s neck. He felt a boot smash into his back. He hit the
ground and turned round so he was on his back. He saw the soldiers grin,
his blade was coming down on him. Everything seemed as though it was in
slow motion, then everything seemed to stop, the soldiers grin immediately
went as he tried and tried again to stab Rene, only to be forced to stop
at least half a foot away from him. Rene smirked as the soldier suddenly went flying. He turned his head to the right and saw Faith masterfully defending herself and those around her whilst sending enemies flying. She smiled at Rene before going back on the offensive. Rene quickly stood up. Zeria had arrived also and was helping Rowan by shooting her gun from afar.

After another 10 minutes of intensive fighting, something happened. Every soldier seemed to withdraw. For a good few minutes the entire area was deserted. Rene quickly ran to the orphanage door.

“Kara! Lily! Open up! It’s me! Rene!” He shouted as he banged his fist against the door. He heard the movement of tables being scraped along
the ground and then the door suddenly opened. Kara came flying out and
literally hugged him to the floor.

“Oh my god we were so scared!” She cried into his chest.

“Hey, hey! Everything’s gonna be okay now. Okay?”

“Okay.” Lily was stood next to the door and hugged her brother.

“About damn time.” She grinned. “Thought I was gonna have to take care
of them myself.”

“Tch, where’s the fun in that?” Rene smiled back at her.

“Rene!” Zeria shouted from the rooftops.

“We got company!” Rowan shouted.

“Get back inside you two.” Rene told his sisters. They quietly obliged and
ran inside.

The group all waited patiently, the could all hear the sound of many, many
men moving.

“We got about 5 minutes before they’re here!” Rowan shouted, Zeria had
joined the group on the ground and had drew her blade. “Set up some
barricades! And those barrels over there have gasoline in them. If you put
them right you can blow them up just as they’re coming in!” The group
listened intently and followed the orders. The positioned everything
perfectly and had a few seconds to spare.

“Okay! Rene, Faith you wait behind those dumpsters over there, me and
Abby will wait behind that wall their.” Zeria explained the game plan “Wait
until the majority of them are in before jumping up and blowing the barrels,
after that. Kill like crazy. Agreed?”

They all nodded before going to their positions. They all waited patiently.

“Scared much?” Rene asked Faith quietly

“Never!” Faith joked “Okay maybe a little, but this is the first time we’ve
been in the middle of a war!”

“Not true! Remember Filden’s room?”

“Oh yeah, what a shit tip.” Faith joked.

They heard loud bangs, they had finally arrived and were bashing down
the barricades. They smashed through and ran into the area. Rene waited
for a few seconds and jumped up at the same time as Zeria, they shot the
barrels and ducked as they both blew up simultaneously. Soldiers went
flying and the swishing of arrows from Rowan was heard, the ringing went
from Renes ears as he jumped over the dumpster, he slashed as many
soldiers as he could and saw Zeria do the same, Abby was healing the
group from the sidelines whilst Faith tried to defend them with her powers.

This large group of soldiers were unlike any they had ever seen. Each one
of them was unique in their own way. They each had different weapons
and armours and were all unbelievably strong. Rene quickly found himself
being extremely overwhelmed. It was only Faith’s extremely fast reflexes
and Abby’s quick healing that saved Rene many, many times. Zeria was
having troubles too, her arms and legs were all dripping blood. Even
though Abby was healing her, she was fast running out of mana and Zeria
was being made to take the cost of that. Zeria was backed into a corner,
her gun had fallen out of he hands and she could barely lift her gun blade.
Several of the elite soldiers were advancing of her. She fell to her knees,
her energy spent.

“HYAAA!” Julius shouted as he fell from the sky and slashed the soldiers, a
shockwave erupted from his blade and sent the soldiers flying away. As
soon as they were safe he turned to Zeria and knelt down beside her.

“Drink this.” He took out a silver bottle and she gratefully accepted it. She
downed the entire bottle and quickly felt her energy returning. She stood
back up completely reenergised.

“THANK GOD FOR REDBULL!” She screamed as she charged forwards and
drove her blade into several soldiers, Julius smirked before charging
forward and joining her.

The battle dragged on, everyone’s energy was spent but still they kept on
coming. Just as it seemed it was all over the soldiers all stopped, the
moved to the sides and Rene found himself alone, in the middle of the
huge courtyard. The one called Minerva stepped forwards and smirked at
Rene.

“Sorry it took me so long, needed to get a drink, plus your friend Kamui
gave us a bit of trouble.” Minerva shrugged his shoulders before
summoning two long pieces of blue crystal to his hands. He spun the
weapons expertly whilst not once looking away from Rene. He shot them
into the ground and suddenly began to glow darkness. He threw his hands
into the air and smirked as a large circle surrounded them. Rene pushed
against it and found that he couldn’t leave.

“Where’s Kamui?” Rene demanded as he drew his blade wearily, he was
completely knackered.

“Oh the little bastard got away, but who cares?” Minerva growled, he
clenched his gloved fists. “Anyway, he’s not the topic the day, believe it
or not, you are.”

“Yeah, yeah. Quit being a drama llama and get to the point.” Rene
sneered at the man. Minerva glared at the boy in front of him, he then
shrugged.

“Fine, fine. Basically I gotta take you in, sadly you can’t be dead but I’m
sure a few bruises will go unnoticed.” Minerva picked up the two shards in
the ground and spun them once more.

“Pity you’re not gonna be able to make ‘em!” Rene shouted as he steadied
his blade in front of him. He spotted Faith slamming her fist against the
barrier to no avail.

“Tch, all talk and no bite.” Minerva smirked “LET’S GO!” He threw the two
shards and Rene dodged to the right to avoid them, they smashed into
the barrier and broke. Minerva summoned two more and spun them as he
charged towards Rene, Rene couldn’t dodge in time and felt himself be
lifted as Minerva smashed his shards against him, Minerva jumped upwards
and backwards and sent tons of shards towards Rene whilst in he was
mid-air. Rene could do nothing as he was hit time and time again by the
shards. His body fell limply onto the floor. Minerva landed nimbly and
smirked. He summoned a single shard and walked towards Rene. As he neared he stopped. He sniffed the air and spun round. A dark portal stood,
Minerva smirked as he dissipated his shards. Rene lay barely conscious on
the ground. From within the portal a hooded man walked out.

“I’ve got all this cleared up, there’s no need for a darkness lackey to help
me.”

“Do you assume that everyone who wields darkness if a bad guy?”

“Then who the hell are you!?” Minerva shouted summoning his shards.

“Name’s Riku. Ya mighta heard of me?” Riku said lowering his hood.
Minerva’s facial expression changed from disgust to horror

“So you’re the traitor! The one who believed that darkness and light were
in harmony and therefore we should be on the same side.”

“Not sure if I used words as camp as that but yeah, you get the general
idea.”

“THEN I SHALL BE THE ONE WHO KILLS YOU!” Minerva shouted throwing his shards towards Riku, Riku summoned his blade and instantly shattered
the shards. Minerva jumped backwards and Riku ran to Rene.

“C’mon kid. Get up! I may be strong but I can’t take him on my own!” Riku
said nudging Rene with his foot. Rene groaned loudly before opening his
eyes.

“You’re that guy who saved me in the streets…” Rene said as he used his
blade to stand himself up

“Chit-chat later, can we take care of him please?” Riku smirked, he went
into his battle stance and Rene exhaustedly did the same. Riku sped
forward at lightning speed towards Minerva, but Minerva was quicker. He
dodged to the sides and brutally smashed a shard into Riku’s side. Riku
spun in mid-air and landed nimbly in a crouch. Rene lifted his blade to
strike Minerva but was instantly thrown backwards by him into the barrier
wall, he fell to the floor and became unconscious sitting against the wall.

Riku continued his assault on Mineva. He smashed any shards that came
his way and pushed Minerva with his foot to the floor. Minerva was smart
though, he summoned a dark portal beneath him as he fell and ran through the portal Riku had created when he came in. He rushed Riku to the floor and smirked. He summoned a shard and spun it in the air. He pulled his
hand backwards and threw it directly towards Riku. Rene instantly woke
up at that moment and before he knew what he was doing was rushing
ahead at full speed towards the pair, the shard was moving slowly and everything seemed to be in slow motion except Rene, he charged forwards and leaped as everything became normal again.

The shard pierced through his chest and stopped halfway. Rene fell to the
ground with it in him and closed his eyes. Riku rushed forwards as Minerva
stepped back in horror for he had failed his primary objective. Rene heard
screams all around him as the shield fell and Minerva legged it. He heard
whispers in his ears as the last bit of air in his lungs left him. Rene Skylar had breathed his last breath.
 
By the look of things, Julius (character) will be driven into madness for failing to protect one of his friends, etc, etc, etc, and will do something very evil like unleash a vicious rampage on his former comrades and possibly attempt to kill those he loves the most for he is listening to the dark voices inside his head...

Zeria's gonna be all depressed if Rene's dead. :( I just know it T^T that would be much like her, thinking it was her fault that another comrade died.
T^T Rene better not be dead for good or ima be depressed.
 
Redbull is an energy drink over here in the UK. There was an advert saying it "gives you wings". Damn, and I used to believe that when I was little. But my mum and dad would never let me drink it then.
