She loved Zack, but was fond of Cloud because he was behaving like Zack from his memories, but Aeris knew this and helped Cloud regain his memory, because he claimed to be a member of Soldier, she may know that he knew Zack, and wanted to know what had happened to him, although she knew already.

Aerith was totally in love with Zack she only decided to go Wall Market with Cloud cause Reno was still after them and she wanted a bodyguard to protect her from Shin-Ra. That and Cloud' personality was uncannly familar to Zack' which reminded her of the love she lost. Because being a Cetra she already knew he had passed into the lifestream. So on her part definatly Cloud was more like a best friend then a love interest. However Cloud being confused and mingled with Zack in Hojo' tanks in the manor probaly devoloped feelings for her. Which is why Cloud felt a enormous amount of guilt after
that he could'nt resolve until he saw her in the church happy with zack.

I think she loved Zack and she found Cloud and liked him because he looked or acted like Zack. I think Cloud and Tifa were closer.

Durr, Zack! He was her boyfriend, for crying out loud. Cloud was just a passerby. And as hard as it is to believe, you can date someone without loving them, people do it all the time. At most, Aeris had a passing schoolgirl crush on Cloud, who was desperately in love with her.

True, she used to love Zack, she admits that in MoTP but in the MoTP Aerith also says this about Zack :
"Someone who's gotten along with so many girls can never become a lover."
and MoTP also says this :
At first, she thought he somehow had some similarities to her first love. Even so, his looks, voice and personality weren't similar and he also made her think of him as a mysterious person... But it soon didn't matter. She loved him much more than her first love. Cloud was her hero and he couldn’t get away from danger. She saw him as someone full of confidence, cool and had the impression that he would disappear in an instant if she took her eyes off him. She wanted to stay by his side forever if she could. She really wanted to.
So there you go, she loves Cloud not Zack. She used to be attracted to him but like she says - a lot changes in 5 years.

Ahhun, So have you actually seen the movie? Or are you just speculating you thoughts and not going off facts?
Because Cloud together with her 2 years later, So does that mean she's suppose to wait the next 10 years for Cloud to never propose to her? 
Also I notice you always make the comment when we talk about Aerith that "She's a Flirt" , What do you have something against that? Not that I find she is, but I'm just curious. Also you have a tendency to make Aerith sound... Fake, Plastic, and robotic in the sense of "She acts this way so it only makes sense...blah blah blah... She a Flirt....Blah Blah Blah... She's just natural at it... Blah Blah Blah etc, etc"
And Clearly if you feel that she's Fake and such then you obviously didn't even see what Kind of Character she was, and completely ignored her while you like a true male probably looked at Tifa's chest the entire game...

I fail to see how she was flirting. she was being nice to cloud and thinking about him instead of herself. Unlike another Female lead i could mention....
Erm what? thats totally out of Aeriths character for her to actually think that, not once during the game or film did she imply that she wanted to sleep with him, so thats a rather wild misconception.
Its possible to love someone even after they've died, Cloud and Aerith have a connection that wouldn't leave Aerith reduced to a mere memory, even if your not a CxA fan you cant deny how important Aerith and Cloud are to each other.
MoTP cleary shows that Aerith loves Cloud. not Zack.

this shows that she will never want Zack as a lover, this is when she rejects Zack.
He was her light taste of first love. He was also now a very dear friend who she hadn't seen ever since she heard nothing from him
This also shows that she recognises Zack as a "dear friend" not a lover.

And just because Aeriths dead doesn't mean clouds going to go for the easy option and go with Tifa, he doesn't have to or need to.

Actually this statement isn't all that correct. It all depends on how you played the game, for instance, you could give the flower you bought from Aerith to Tifa or Marlene, personally I gave it to Marlene. Tifa and Cloud were childhood friends. However, Cloud doesn't show much emotion to either girl that much, except for when Aerith dies and he says "what about us?"

I never played VII but I saw AC. Even though I don't know the story of VII but I know all the characters and their personality. Remeber in the AC in the end? Aerith and Zack were together. And I think that Cloud has mistaken about Aerith's feelings. Maybe Cloud is her best friend but he thinks it's more than that. I say he is a bit confused
