Did Aeris love Cloud or Zack?

Yeah Aerith, (i apologise for spelling it as Aerith, i find it is better spelt that way), loves Cloud, but the time span between Crisis core and FFVII is big, and Zack is dead, you can't really compare something like that
Zack was Aeriths first love, her boyfriend and their relationship shall be explored more thoroughly in Crises Core for the PSP.
But Aerith also loved Cloud, and she still loves Cloud

Aeris loved and still loves Zack. She barely had a passing school girl crush on Cloud. How can you love someone who doesn't even know who they are? Any momentary romantic feelings she had for Cloud were because he was emulating Zack. Aeris loved Zack. She saw Zack in Cloud. She loved the part of Cloud that was Zack.

I'm strongly of the opinion that Aeris loved Zack and that her attraction to Cloud was based on that familiarity that she once had with him.
Lovely scene at the end of AC just seems to sum up that they are happily together in the next life.
I do think she loved Cloud, and Cloud loved her but not in the truest sense of the meaning of love.

Thats silly, you don't need to get married to someone to love them. and theres many examples of people who never stop loving each other after one of them dies, take PoTC for example.
Will Turner had his heart cut out before he became the captain of the Dutchman.
Therefore, he is basically dead, a walking corpse.
Therefore, Elizabeth Swann cannot love him. Because you can't love a corpse. (reason why Cloud can't love Aerith apparently)
Especially one who you can't physically be with for 10 years. Because, you know, PHYSICAL love is the only one that counts (as stated in many LTD arguments)

and since many people seem to think that Aeris can't love cloud (or vice versa) then its obvious that they've never Loved and Lost, it is enitrely possible for someone to keep loving the person they can't physically be with. And Aerith, (Like Elizabeth Swann who won't go to Jack), won't go to Zack just because she Can't be with him all the time. Although AC and its credits "calling" show that Cloud and Aerith can seemingly be with each other whenever they want. So Aerith won't move onto Zack just because he's there.
I don't believe this is true, theres never any concrete proof in the game that Aerith "loved" Zack - Aerith said that "liked him for a while" which shows that there not really serious. Describing him as her "first love" is Aerith saying that he was her first boyfriend, not that she actually "loves" him.
Aerith didn't like Cloud just for his "looks", she said, "... the way you walk, gesture... I saw him again, in you... ... but you're different" Aerith recognises that there are two different personas and she likes the Cloud side, not the Zack side.
Also Aerith herself states this about Zack "He was her light taste of first love. He was also now a very dear friend"
This quote (from MoTP - a fabulous read btw) Proves that Aerith recognises Zack as her first Boyfriend, and shows that she now only considers him a Dear friend, not a lover. no romantic feelings at all.

After that mission, we could have stayed the way we were and might have been able to continue to go out with each other after I returned home. I hate Sephiroth. And I hate Shinra who's been hiding all the stuff they've been doing."

That quote also further shows how Aerith was able to distinguish between them, and that She prefers Cloud's Awkward nature to Zacks Nice one.

This shows that Aerith doesn't need to be with Zack, she accepts he's there but thats all.
So there you go, Aerith used to love Zack, but now loves Cloud. She knows the different personas between them and Loves Clouds, and she won't just go with Zack because he's there.

Ughh... People always say Zack, because Cloud stole his Identity. In the beggining of the story, Aeris is reminded of Zack, her first love, when she meets Cloud. Hence why she is attracted to Cloud. (IN THE BEGINNING)
Cloud soon finds his true self at the end of the story, but this doesn't stop Aeris from loving him. In AC, it's pretty obvious that Aeris loves Cloud's true ID (i.e. She touches him, she is always trying to comfort him, she caresses his head at the end.) So, despite the fact that she was attracted to him because he had Zack's personality, she still loves Cloud's true self in AC. Period. She loves Cloud.

I'd say both. She had feelings for Zack, but then he disappeared from her life, then Cloud shows up. She then fell in love with him. The fact that she still cares for Cloud even in the afterlife and stays with Zack's spirit at the same time shows that she loved both of them.
it is all Zack. When she met cloud, she compared him to Zack, and so she died before cloud remembered what had happened.
Lets not go there XD it would be the equivalent of starting WW3.
Its canon that she did love Zack - which will be shown in Crises core. but it's also been proven to be Canon that she loves Cloud in Maiden of the planet. as well as being shown in the game and movie XD
Considering that Aerith mentions Zack a grand total of...2 times in the game And says in MoTP that if she wasn't the last Cetra she would have "comforted Cloud in a second" further seals the deal for me...
Although it should be interesting to see AerithxZack in Crises core
square-enix should release something that explains to us what would have happened if aeris didn't die, to end all arguments. id like to know about CLOUD and aeris, tbh i could care less about zack and aeris.
