Being vain is not a good thing, but being honest is. If you look good, then you look good. If you look bad, then you look bad. People can't help if they look good and deserve a 10, and they can't help it either if they deserve a 1. Either way, it's all in good fun.

Yeah but you just said looks are subjective, to some people you may look good and to others you may look bad, how can you say what a person 'deserves' to be rated as? How can you really rate your looks with a number in the first place?

Majority's opinion, I guess. So if you say you get a 10, it's not only because you believe that, but because lots of other people say the same thing as well.

And even if you are ugly and give yourself a 10, but don't post about it in every other thread, then either you don't take this thready seriously, and isn't meant to be because it's a for fun thread, or you love yourself enough that you don't worry about how people think you're ugly, and have gotten used to something you can't change.

But I do know of employers and other such people who won't hire vain people. I've heard of people being so overconfident because of one compliment they got, and it got to their heads so much they started acting like assholes. And that got them fired.

You obviously have drastically different ideas on vanity than I do. A simple declaration of thinking oneself to be attractive is apparently vain. Me, I just think it's honest and shows self-confidence. Hey, if you wanna walk around either with no confidence or with false modesty, be my guest. And just to let you know, people who are OVERLY confident are far more successful in life than those who are under confident. I could go into a long, drawn-out explanation but a) I don't care enough and b) you're just gonna keep squawking about how rating yourself a 10 is being vain. Why would I have conceded to being wrong when I'm clearly not? How is that hypocritical? Actually I've asked people whether they consider it vain to rate yourself highly and say how hot you think you are to others, and most agreed it is. I think its the people on here that are the clearly wrong and have strange delusions.

Edit: I wasn't mainly talking about people on here acting kinda vain anyway, it got into a debate about vanity in general. Others were saying how its good and I was saying how I don't think so. That's not wrong.

Also, I rate people's personalities as far as attractiveness goes. If they are a good person to be around, fun, kind, etc., I give them a 10. If they are horrible hateful people, then I give them a 0. Of course you must look the part as well.

This post is fine and I wasn't pointing it out to just you, I was pointing it out to everyone. I just didn't want to see the fun of the topic ruined for people who might be enjoying it. Nor did I want to see any arguments or flaming happening in here. The arguments are meant for the debate section, not Costa.
