Doctor Who

River was a character conceived by Moffat in the fourth series, so he sort of has a right to re-use her.

I know, but if he's going out there saying no previous characters will appear in his series and then goes on to use that dreadful woman in not only one but four episodes...seems wrong, regardless of whether he created the wench or not.

But that maybe just my dislike for her speaking xD

Just got myself on some of the Tom Baker episodes and will wath them in anticipation of the finale ^^

I really don't like her either, and my dislike was intensified in that Angel episode, even though I really liked it, I haaaaated her

Watched the van Gogh episode today, it seemed average at best. There were a few funny moments here and there, but it didn't have the wow factor as previous ones. I'll attempt to watch the episode with James Corden in at some point before Saturday and deliver my verdict.

Edit: A slight improvement from the van Gogh episode. It was really funny seeing the Doctor
do human things like play football
and such. Looking forward to the last two episodes now. I really want to know what the mystery is behind the crack in Amy's bedroom.

I want Amy Pond on my lap. Right now.

I've probably already said that somewhere here already. If so, too bad, there we go again.

So do I. :sad3:

And tonight's will probably go down as the greatest cliffhanger ever. :gasp: It's actually impossible to think up a way that he'll get out of it this time. All I can think is
we haven't actually seen the TARDIS explode yet, so maybe River is going to pull something out of the hat, and save the day.
A few mates have decided that
Moffat is going to end the universe, and then it'll restart itself, with a way out for The Doctor.

I get to listen for the next week about how my bf is going to suicide himself if he doesn't get to see the ending sooner. Yay me. :gasp:

But rly all of that was completely unexpected. I was thinking another Time Lord would pop out of the Pandorica, but some sort of weird machiney thing? What is Moffat up to?

I really, really don't know what to think about that episode. The last ten minutes probably was the best in the series so far. I'm astonished to see all of this happen in one episode. I've started to like River a bit now that I've seen her a few times. But seriously, Moffat's got me even more confused now. How is this all going to be resolved next week? That's what I wanna know.

There's a strong chance that The Dream Lord is behind it all, since he's the only character not to have made a re-appearance now, and I think he's too good a character to use only in one episode.

In the TARDIS, you heard someone saying that silence will fall. My guess is that was The Dream Lord, and his plan all along has been to cause the explosion that ends the universe, which means that The Dream Lord is going to double-cross the Alliance. So they'll then free The Doctor in order to prevent him from ever doing that.

Either that, or Rory will free The Doctor, which is much less effective I think.

I thought it was pretty poop til like the last 15 minutes or so, when it finally got interesting. I can't wait to see how they are gunna get round this one, like if everything exploded (or whatever it was doing) and ceasing to exist, then how can it be brought back again. I was baffled about Rory coming back til it was exlained.... though I think I might need to watch it again on Friday

I have no plans whatsover this weekend, so I shall not be fucking missing it.

I also caUGHT up on last weeks episode which was aLright, and fiiiiiiinally that venice one, really enjoyed that one actually

edit* STILL fucking hate River, if she says Sweetie one more time.....grrrrr though she was MUCH more tolerable in this weeks episode

Anybody else kinda confused about the whole
River opening the TARDIS door and it's a stone wall sort of thing? My bf mentioned it possibly being a Pandorica surrounding the TARDIS as well and that's why it's going to asplode, but how? And why asplode if it's not going to asplode out into anything, it's just sort of really constrained.

I still reckon a Time Lord is going to come out. But hopefully not the Master. Too cliche. :gasp:

As long as it doesnt all turn out to be a dream, like Amys choice. That would really hack me off

I thought it was a terrific episode, I can't wait for next week. People complaining about the Doctor/Amy/River Song/all of the above are nuts, this series has been very good for supporting characters.

Agreed. With the exception of Captain Jack and a few other characters I didn't find many supporting characters that interesting in the previous seasons. Or at least the writing meant that they couldn't be used to their best. I'm really liking the characters of this series.

This has been a fantastic first part of a finale. For the first time since the new seasons of Doctor Who it's really worth seeing this episode, or even the whole series, again. Most episodes were relevant, and it really has been building up to this moment from the beginning. The ending was a fantastic twist, and it's really hard to see how he'll get out of this one.

While I was worried at first about all of
the aliens showing up
(it seemed very RTDesque), they came together for a very clever reason.

Me too. I wouldn't mind it if
the Dream Lord was behind it, as it makes sense, but I would like at least the aliens to be real, even if the Stonehenge location they are in is fake
. I have more faith in Moffat than this though. He's obviously had an end in mind, and he's been working on the story back to front and building up to this big moment. I doubt that the big idea he had which the entire season has been based around would be "and it was all a dream".

Perhaps it's just where the Tardis ended up. It's
malfunctioning and River is failing to control it, and even when she opened to doors to try and escape there is a wall. I think it's just there to show that there is no escape for River. If there is a point to the wall then it might be that the Tardis has indeed been trapped, but that doesn't make much sense as then the crisis has been averted. I'd say that when everything ends then the Tardis could go nowhere, and it might appear that there is a wall when you open the Tardis, but you'd have thought that endless darkness would be more appropriate
.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :O

Yes, very confused.

But I think there's something quite significant about that happening. I can't help, but feel it's important to her continuing timeline with the Doctor. I mean, I'm sure she has to survive because if I'm right, then it's BEFORE she meets him in the Weeping Angels episode. Or is it? Her whole timeline with him confuses me in general. xD

This is the earliest encounter we've seen River have so far, yes. When Amy mentioned River having previously mentioned the Pandoria, she was a bit clueless to it.

What I didn't get was this whole timetravelling bit at the beginning...
Did she escape out of prison, then travel back in time to england in roman time? And when did she grafitti that wall from the beginning of the universe? And if she did travel back in time, than she already met the doctor in the weeping angel episode cause she was locked up and then...

Damn so confusing. I like Moffat, but I could stangle him for this whole River Song crap.

She used the Dimension Vortex taken from (presumably) Jack Harkness to travel to the start of the planet, and graffiti the cliff face, to leave a trail for The Doctor to follow.
And she won't have met him with the Weeping Angels, because it hasn't happened to her in her own personal timeline yet.

It's possible that the Doctor or River could actually escape through one of the cracks in time. Even so, it all revolves around Amy with her past and that. So I reckon one of the two travels back in time and changes her past or some shit.

If this whole thing
turned out to be a dream I would shove a stick up Moffat's ass. D; Also is the Dream Lord a Time Lord? The ending of Amy's Choice was very ambiguous in that he is a part of The Doctor in a way, his reflection and all that...

I seriously doubt the ending will be 'and it was all a dream', this is Doctor Who, not Dallas. And anyone who mentions Amy Choice, that was somewhat different.
