Yeah I believe the costs for AP on each are on the first post of the RP itself, it seems unphased is updating our profiles constantly to provide us with more information.

I'd check there to see what to expect.

And yay for Contra, I like that girl! She's a good poster!
 
Can we put our status and perceived status at the end of each of our attacks? Remaining AP etc. Or should we just wait for you to do that.

I will be continually monitoring and posting altered stats, however, if it makes it easier for the party (or yourself) in keeping tabs, then you are completely free to post the perception of your current status.

Should we just take creative license on using materia? Thats really why I didn't use any...

I'll go into further detail about using Materia in my follow-up post, I simply didn't want to inundate you all with a 10 page essay on combat all at once, lol. Each profile lists the Materia that you can currently use, as well as it's cost and limitations. As I mentioned in the main thread, take a look at your combat commands section. For example, having a Fire Materia equips adds:

Fire [50 AP Cost] Light fire-elemental damage onto a single opponent

To your list of commands. It states it's elemental damage, the cost, as well as the target ratio. So yeah, just check your profiles for most information if you are uncertain, or if in doubt, just take some creative license and things will be adjusted / explained accordingly.

Pure luck! ^__^ The starter pack was completely random, so you guys litteraly could have ended up with anything.

Can I really exhaust at full extend all my ap in one turn. For instance, by my count I could have attacked a full 9 more times if I wanted to... is that right? Could I literally attack 12 times in my first turn then 2 times per turn after that?

Is there any drawback from having 0 ap?

Since you chose AP as a strength attribute, with full AP, and the attack command having a 25 AP cost, your first post does allow you to use 12 consequetive attacks. That's not a mistake, and is quite impressive indeed. Yep, as stated, you can use as little, or as much in one go as you wish, and there are no drawbacks from having 0 AP.

EXCEPT that it reduces your options for your following turns. This opening battle is beyond easy, even more so with a new challenger about to enter, but combat will continually grow harder. Because they attack less frequently than players, creature health and the damage they inflict, will grow higher and higher. Using all your AP in one turn could have serious consequences in future combat scenarios.

AP regenerates at +50 on your following turn, however, that is a single Item usage cost. Not to mention that you'll have to wait even longer to recharge enough to use stronger Materia. So yeah, some strategy will need to be thought about as the RP develops. Players could be up against three or more opponents at at any time.

How have we been doing so far?

I still need to check the current combat progress, but your opening introductions and use have been perfect. No problems at all! I look forward to seeing more and more of the personalities of your characters, and how they'll act in combat.


What is the cost of the materia's, and what can I expect to do with my 2 command. Do I learn Enemy skills as in the game, or do you control what I learn, when I learn it. And when I learn something. Wont the cost differ depending on the skill?

Check part of my answer in the above questions. Listed in your profiles is the Materia in your posession and the combat commands that you can use. In either section it lists the AP cost for each Materia. You'll notice that "Enemy Skill" is not listed as of yet in your combat commands.

I'll explain this in combat in a bit, but Enemy Skill is exactly like in the game. If certain opponent moves are used on a player with this Materia, then the player could gain that skill. Yes, it will have various costs depending on the skill learned. A player will be notified when they have gained a new Enemy Skill.

Also, the steal one, how does that work? Should I just state that I use steal, and you explain if I got anything, and if I did, what that is?

Exactly. Just use the Materia as you would in a game, and you will be notified of it's success and rewards.

I gave consent to Contra for her to push my character out of the way, in the 'adding insult to injury' category I think it went very well.

My hopes are that it helps to explain both our characters better!

This really is a fun RP so far, I can just imagine what will happen in the future!

After an opponent has been defeated and combat ends, players are free to use their Items, or Materia at any time outside of combat in order to heal themselves in preperation for sudden future encounters. As your wealth of Materia grows, players are also free to trade or borrow Materia between one another at will. The same goes for Items.

Haha, so, the team's managed to take down one beast so far. xD I really look forward to the first time they stay at an Inn, because something tells me I'd be sure to make Yukio and Sage roommates. I find their 'friendly competition' to be amusing.
 
Sage isn't going to be living long with that stupidity. either A: i kill him for almost killing me or B: a beast kills him. i'm hoping for A

Lol, no, that's not going to happen anytime soon. xD Sage is a great character, and Fair_Game makes great posts. Besides, I only interpreted it as him throwing the grenade when the beast was attacking, but, really, in an FF-styled battle, the monster would have just slashed at him, and backed away. So, Sage wasn't trying to 'kill' your character, Yukio just likes to play the do-gooder, so he was finding something to snap at Sage for.

And, shadow of SeeD, could you please focus on making your post-length longer? It's common courtesy in a role play to try and put in equal effort with the other players. Red Fox's, Fair_Game's, mine, and Unphased's posts are much longer than your own. If you're having trouble with description, then I recommend you join the Mentor Program once that's up and running in the Dojo. But, please, just try to make your posts longer in this RP.
 
Woah, sorry Shadow. It wasn't my intention to try and kill your character, at all!

But yeah, its pretty amazing Sage has lived as long as he has. He's very self-centered and ignorant to interacting with people.

Since this RP has a GM I'm pretty much just having fun RPing as my character and letting unphased sort out all the rest. I live with Contra Fates, so we talked about our characters interaction a bit. My character doesn't like flashy guys like Yukio, and Yukio overreacts to things. So when my character gets all upity about things Yukio just wants to scold him.

Stupid people exist in the real world, I'm just having a blast RPing as one!

Oh, I want to 'ok' it with you first Shadow. I was thinking of having my character call your character 'bullseye' mockingly, because of what he said about 'this sort of thing happens to me all the time'. If you'd like we can both clown on each other, maybe become buddy-buddy because of it, or if you prefer Sage can just ignore it and we can move on.

Oh yeah, and in the future since no one can make your character do anything you don't want them to do (with the exception of Unphased in this RP), you have the option of avoiding the attack. You could say that the beast attacked you and you narrowly avoided it munching on your jugular by kicking it in the face and rolling out of the way. There are always options!
 
meh. i'm good with being attacked, so long as someone is around to heal me. yes you may call me bullseye mockingly, so long as you don't mind getting hit in the head with the flat blade of my sword.

I'm going to have to agree, Shadow of SeeD. At the moment, your posts are really small. You don't have to create as large a post as the others, however, at least one full paragraph is needed. Simply write what your character is about to do / the thoughts that are going through his head as he does it / thoughts about the outcome / banter with other players / non-stat attacks by the monster, etc... Use any two combinations of these, and you'll find that it's really easy to fill up a paragraph or more. :)

So ... Avalanche has taken down a monster! Good job. However, we're not quite done in the caves just yet. ;)
 
well you can't blame me for trying. meantime, if anyone else nearly kills me, i will try to kill them. shadow creatures may be my worst enemies, but on occasion, they are my best friends :)

If you read my last post you will note that I in NO WAY even considered the possibility.

This is an extremely fun RP and I would be extremely disheartened if it was tainted so early for no apparent reason. Please stop getting defensive about something that didn't even happen as I really want to just enjoy this RP.
 
sorry bout that. i had a weird mood swing. however my character is distant from others and so doesn't understand their actions to well.

Looks like I'll have to be more careful in the future, but just so you know I saw that you had said in the first post where cloud attacked us that Sage used his stun baton. I even thought about saying the weapon switch thing but when I saw you posted that I already had it out, I went with it. /shrug.

I'll definitely be more attentive in the future!

And yeah, no prob. I just used his stun baton during that encounter to give it a little more flair, and since side-descriptions don't have any effect on the main stat combat. But again, no probs at all.
