Alyss Mithrandir
Rose was trying to reassure her, and for a while it was working. “Hey, hey now. Just relax. It was only a thought I had.” She was right… it was only a theory. After all, there was no evidence that students were forced to fight monsters. All in all, Alyss was just blowing things out of proportion. She had to calm down… she was now taking slow deep breaths in order to attempt that. “Like I was trying to say before, I doubt that they’re going to force us to fight anyone or anything. Arena battles should be planned by whoever wants to battle willingly.”
Yes… that was the way it should have been. They would never deliberately put a student in harm’s way. Alyss had smiled as she started to gain back her clarity. It was then that Rose pinched Alyss’ ear. Almost immediately, Alyss’ ball of lightning just went out as she let out a loud shriek, and she dropped her hand to her side. Alyss was terrified of contact ever since she read a book as a kid that was on the subject of germs and diseases that people could pass to each other. It scared her badly… very badly. Ever sense that day she had a fear of being touched. People would get sick from something as simple as touching the doorknob of someone that just opened it who happened to be sick. Imagine would a simple handshake would do!
She dropped to her knees and clutched her head. It wouldn’t have been near as bad if she wasn’t in the dark as well. Now here she was… in the dark after being touched. Her heart was pounding inside of her chest; her eyes were as wide as plates. Alyss could do nothing but look down at the ground. She wanted to go home, but she knew that wasn’t an option. Alyss kept trying to talk but nothing came out but winded gasps, almost as if she had been punched in the stomach.
“I-I-I,” Alyss tried to speak, but it was of no use. She was cringing and shivering like someone had just dumped dirty cold water on her. “P-ple-,” she kept trying. She tried to look up at Rose, but her eyes weren’t adjusting to the darkness around her. Was Rose even still there? She must have run off laughing… Alyss was alone (or so she thought), by herself, in the dark, and still feeling Rose’s touch even though her hand was long gone.
At this point tears welled up in her eyes. She would never find her way out of here now. Alyss was sure to get in trouble… and everyone would pick on her when they found out that she was afraid of the dark and afraid of something as silly as being touched. Alyss stopped clutching her head as she hugged herself, still looking around but unable to see two inches in front of her face. She tried to call out for help again, if Rose was still there.
“Ro-Rose? He-hello? Pl-please… please help.”
