“O-oh, yes, it is my first semester here too. Actually, it is my first time out of my home city, so in all reality, I would like to tour. I’ve always wanted to explore things.”

Rose was clearly surprised from hearing this. She could only guess that the girl was around her age, probably 17, and this was her first time out of her home? If Rose was kept in her hometown for that long, she would be miserable. She discovered that there are a lot of interesting things to learn about outside of her home, and if people didn't travel often, they would be missing out.

“Oh my, I did not mean to be rude. My name is Alyss, Alyss Mithrandir, as you probably noticed, I am an Elf.” She pointed at her ear. “What is your name? If you do not mind me asking.”

Rose glanced more closely at the ears. They were definitely longer than her own, but that was because she was only half fey. With how much hair fell around her face, people wouldn't notice her own ears unless she moved her hair away or if the wind blew it over.

"This is really the first time you left your home town?" Rose asked, her tone clearly surprised. "I practically go out of town to visit elsewhere once a week, at least."

Swatting a bug away from her face, she thought that Alyss was a nice name. It was a rather rare name if it even existed in the city she originally lived in, and the names and aliases of the locals were usually unique. "I'm Rosalynn, by the way. Rosalynn Hera. But you can call me Rose for short; I think it's cuter." She laughed a little bit at that and had reached the end of her wrap. It was a tasty one that she had prepared at the cafeteria, so they must have been better eating times to look forward to.

"Say...I'm not sure if anyone patrols or anything like that after curfew - if there is one - but if you're not sleepy, then I think we should take our time with this tour." Rose smirked briefly after that was said. She wasn't sure how this would sound to Alyss, though she rarely got her friends in trouble. Yet, she was used to doing this kind of thing back at home before she got transferred into the academy. She couldn't help but want to do so now.

Alyss noticed how the girl glanced at her ears as she had pointed at them. Now that she had thought about it, she really hoped the girl wasn’t judging her. In fact… she was somewhat embarrassed at the attention the girl was giving her. “This is really the first time you left your home town?” The girl asked, the surprised voiced very clearly through her tone. “I practically go out of town to visit elsewhere once a week, at least.”

Upon hear that, Alyss blushed a little bit. All the while, the girl swatted a bug before she continued speaking. “I’m Rosalynn, by the way. Rosalynn Hera. But you can all me Rose for short; I think it’s cuter.” She laughed a little bit as she neared the end of her wrap. It looked delicious, and from the way she had been eating it, she thought the same.

“Say… I’m not sure if anyone patrols or anything like that after curfew – if there is one – but if you’re not sleepy, then I think we should take out time with this tour.” Alyss was in shock, especially after she had just had dinner with the Disciplinary Committee. She didn’t want to be rude, but she didn’t want to break any rules either. She really didn’t know how to reply, and it was made evident by her tone and the fact that she was tripping over her words again.

“W-well… Rose… I d- I do not think that to be a w-wise idea.” Alyss said, or in her case tried to say. All the while looking anywhere else but at the face of Rose. “I-it would be ag-against the rules… you see...” She didn’t know if it was against the rules or not to be out after curfew… or if there even was a curfew… However, it was best to play it safe. Collecting her thoughts and trying to calm herself down, she took a deep breath of air. “Ho-however, it is nice to meet you, Rose. Well met.” Alyss finished, a nervous smile on her face. I hate my anxiety, Alyss thought to herself.

Alyss really felt like playing with her fingers... but with a ball of electricity in her hand that was now flickering due to her lack of concentration, that wouldn't have been a wise idea.

“W-well… Rose… I d- I do not think that to be a w-wise idea. I-it would be ag-against the rules… you see...” Alyss sounded awfully nervous to say that. That, and it seemed like this girl was going to be behaving the entire semester. Rosalynn believed that everyone should get in a little trouble at least once in their lifetime - not just to learn from mistakes, but to discover a new subject of living. But that was the thing. Rose wouldn't get them in trouble. She'd make sure of it.

“Ho-however, it is nice to meet you, Rose. Well met.”

"And it's wonderful to see you, Alyss." Rosalynn replied, the contentment in her voice unchanged. "And you know, it is just the first day of the semester. I honestly doubt that the staff or DisCom are going to be staying up after-hours for late night students. I'm pretty sure everyone at this school may be exhausted by how much they've prepared for today."

In that case, Rose was glad that she took that nap on the airship earlier. It made things more interesting to wander around during the night. But whatever the staff did to prepare for the events this semester - and whatever the other students have done to prepare them to stay and learn here for the next several months -, if Rosalynn were any of them, she'd be dead beat tired. "Besides, why would I get you in trouble? We've just met for a few seconds, so its impossible to have qualms now."

“And it’s wonderful to see you, Alyss.” She replied, the tone in her voice virtually unchanged. “And you know, it is just the first day of the semester. I honestly doubt that the staff of DisCom are going to be staying up after-hours for late night students. I’m pretty sure everyone at this school may be exhausted by how much they’ve prepared for today.” Alyss had to admit, it was logical. The chances of getting caught were slim… but at the same time, rules were rules.

However, she didn’t want to be rude. She hated being placed in situations like these. Either way it went, she was going to be breaking rules, making someone sad, or making someone think her rude. “Besides, why would I get you in trouble? We’ve just met for a few seconds, so it’s impossible to have qualms now.” Yet, another logical point from Rose. Alyss looked down at the ground as she thought about it.

She didn’t know what she should do. Alyss wanted to follow the rules and stay on the good side of them and the Disciplinary Committee… but she also wanted to make new friends, and not be rude. As she continued thinking about it, the ball of electricity kept flickering due to her losing concentration on it. What do I do? She thought. Alyss must have stood there for a few minutes before she finally decided to go. Her ball of electricity suddenly stopped flickering.

“V-very well, I will go. Did you want to go directly to the library, or see more around the campus first?”

Rose watched as Alyss looked down to the ground in thought, and waited eagerly for her reply. Balling the napkin she used to hold the wrap that she ate, she tossed it into a nearby trash can. The fullness seemed to hit her quickly, though it was technically her fault for nearly downing her dinner. Blinking, she noticed that the lightning ball that the elf was holding was starting to flicker, as if it was showing that her complete focus wasn't on it. She couldn't help but smirk at the time it took Alyss to decide what she wanted to do.

Eventually, from the way that the lightning ball lit back up to its full potential, Rose guessed that Alyss had her answer.

“V-very well, I will go. Did you want to go directly to the library, or see more around the campus first?”

Rose put a finger once again to her chin as she thought. Options varied for her in all reality. She didn't feel like just looking at pictures of the venues at the school by computer; she wanted to see it all with her own eyes. Not only that, but she didn't want to stay in one particular place for a while. Tonight seemed like the perfect night to check everything out for a little bit of time.

"Well, I think that would all depend. How long were you planning on staying at the library?" Rose asked curiously. "If it was for a little while, then I don't mind going there first. But if you were going to be there for a long time, I'd honestly prefer to explore the rest of campus before then."

She couldn't help but grin at the second option. "Put it this way. We'll more than likely be the first two students to know their way around campus once we're done."

Alyss Mithrandir

“Well, I think that would all depend.” Rose had started. Alyss wasn’t quite sure what she was talking about. Why would there be other options? Surely everyone thought of the Library the way she did? It was massive and full of books. Why wouldn’t Rose want to spend the majority of her time in it? “How long were you planning on staying at the Library?” Thinking about it, Alyss realized she hadn’t thought about it yet. Was two hours too much time?

“If it was for a little while, then I don’t mind going there first. But if you were going to be there for a long time, I’d honestly prefer to explore the rest of the campus before then.” She had a slight grin on her face as she said this. “Put it this way. We’ll more than likely be the first two students to know their way around campus once we’re done.”

Alyss didn’t know how much time would be too much time for the girl. “I was only going to be there for an hour or two. That is not too much time is it?” She asked, trying hard not to aggravate the girl. “It is massive, you should really see it.” Would Rose be more inclined to not go to it if she knew Alyss hadn’t seen it? She didn’t know. She only hoped that Rose wouldn’t catch her attempt at weaseling her way into the Library.

OOC: Ooookay. Let me get another of my character back to her room and break the Ringo/ Pandora Cycle. Remember, italics = thoughts

Delijah

She really did feel heavy. Delijah could barely keep her eyes open. It was about time to excuse herself and head back to her own room. It would be even more embarrassing if she dropped face first into the table due to sleep depravtion. Stifling a yawn, Delijah stood from her seat and grabbed her tray.

Well, i must excuse myself and head back to my room. I have other business to attend to...

Like sleep

....
So once again, welcome Bartholomew, Estrella, to the DisCo family. I hope you would serve the school to your utmost limit. Raistlin, Ms Chevalier, Ms Veerle, it is good to see you again. I bid you good night and hope to talk to you again some other time.

Every second was a fight. Without trying to be seen as rushing to get out, Delijah made her quickest "natural" exit, dumping the tray and dish in their respective area before picking up her weapons from the table. Giving her associates and friends a final nod of departure, Delijah walked out the door before she quickly made for her room hastily.

Luckily, she met noone and there was no first night incident that she had to intervene as per her DisCo duty. Back in her own private chamber, her weapons was placed into their respective racks before Delijah ran through her nightly rituals. When all is complete and just before she jumped into her bed, Delijah pulled out her favourite plushie, a large Gardevoir one that was 3/4 her height, and jumped into bed.

Ah.... knew i couldn't sleep with it. Thats one problem from semester one solved....

Nicolo Zorzi

Well, hello Nicolo. Names Escaflowne Zraith. First Year?

"Sì (Yes.) I am a new student here. I've heard much about this school from a family friend who used to go here. But never before have I ever thought it would be a floating school high in the cloud, huh Signora?" Nicolo said after eating some pasta. He felt relieved to have found someone to have a conversation with. She was a pretty nice lady after all, and had a pretty face.

"What about you? How did you come to learn about this academy?" Nicolo asked, to try and continue the conversation.

----
Elaine Chevalier

Elaine sat down and began to eat as the people on the table shared a conversation with each other. But after a while, night came and Elaine started to feel sleepy. After Alyss, Rosalynn and Delijah left to retire to their rooms, Elaine decided to the same. "Well, it is a pleasure meeting you all, and I hope to see that you have a wonderful time at Eureka." Turning towards Bartholomew and Estrella, Elaine said with a warm smile, "I wish you the best as new members of DisCom, have a good evening."

Elaine put her tray in the wash area before leaving to head to her private dorms. She had the same room as she did last year. Leaving the cafeteria, she found a spatial portal that she took, popping her from just outside the cafeteria to into her room.

"Ahh, time for bed." Elaine said as she walked up to her bed. Tomorrow was going to be a busy day.

Buongiorno, Signora. My name is Nicolo, what's yours?

Pharra didn't respond to the boy. She did however look at him questionably. He seemed to be really nice and spoke in somewhat of an accent of which she privately enjoyed.

Well, hello Nicolo. Names Escaflowne Zraith. First Year?

Pharra looked over at the girl that had shared her table. She immediately recognized the girl from being on student council. Ms. Escaflowne...Stella spoke of her a lot after their experience with Diaga from last semester. Pharra had heard so much about the student council from her sister that they almost seemed like family.

"Sì (Yes.) I am a new student here. I've heard much about this school from a family friend who used to go here. But never before have I ever thought it would be a floating school high in the cloud, huh Signora?"

Pharra chuckled a bit. She felt the same way but she also thought that the boys odd words sounded kind of cute. She wasn't one for crushes but she did like the language the boy spoke. As for Escaflowne she looked strong and surprisingly inviting. Pharra admired her clothing and her beautiful pale skin.

And im guessing you are Pharra? Phelda's sister? Remember me from Semester one? We woke you in the middle of the morning for some assistance?

"Oh yes! I'm glad you remember me." Pharra spoke, stoking her hair back and taking in a deep sigh as she stretched. "That mission was the one with Orion going missing."

Her lunch was finished. "The both of you can call me Pharra Lee. Or whatever you'd like." she smiled, her eyes gazing at both Escaflowne and then to Nicolo.

"What about you? How did you come to learn about this academy?"

"My brother and sister have gone here so naturally I ended up here as well." Not really noticing that she was butting in Pharra spoke in response, only catching herself until after she uttered the sentence. "Oh, sorry Zee, if I can call you that, I mean, sorry."

She looked apologetically at Escaflowne before stacking her empty plates upon her tray neatly. The boy Nicolo seemed so friendly and Pharra could use someone to talk to now and then. After a small while of her being quiet and drifting into daydream she couldn't help but to ask. "Nicolo, where are you from? Your speech is a bit different but I cannot recognize it."

“I was only going to be there for an hour or two. That is not too much time is it?” To Rose, definitely too much for a starter. “It is massive, you should really see it.”

"In that case," Rose started, bringing her finger down from her chin. "I believe we can save that for a later part of the tour. It sounds to me like you've been there once before." Just out of plain curiosity, Rose brought her hand out to hover above the lightning ball, just to see how the light it resonated really felt. It was actually hotter than the girl expected, so she quickly brought it back on her hip, still feeling a bit of warmth seeping through it. "There are actually several things I'd like to check out there to see if they have what I'm looking for, but if it's as big as you make it sound, then it shouldn't be a problem. But meanwhile..."

She turned her back to Alyss to examine the school grounds from the level they were on. They may have been on the bottom level (disregarding they were hundreds of feet in the air), but several massive buildings could be seen reaching for the sky. "There are plenty of places where we'll more than likely have to know our way to throughout the semester. The training area, music room, and the arena for example. I even hear there are some places outside of campus that are accessible when the time is right." When the time was right...that would be when Rose had earned enough credit or points to gain more privileges. She didn't know all about what she could do after that, but it would probably be worth the effort to try and meet the requirements. "We'll probably spend at most 10 minutes at each place. How does that sound?"

Alyss Mithrandir

“In that case, I believe we can save that for a later part of the tour. It sounds to be like you’ve been there once before.” Of course, she was absolutely right about that. Alyss had hoped that she wouldn’t have figured that out. Rose brought her hand above Alyss’ ball of lightning. It was probably to see how it felt. Once she was satisfied, she removed her hand. “There are actually several things I’d like to check out there to see if they have what I’m looking for,” she said. Alyss’ eyes lit up as she said it. “But if it’s as big as you make it sound, then it shouldn’t be a problem. But meanwhile…”

Alyss’ look was somewhat grim as she figured that they wouldn’t be going to the Library any time soon. Rose had turned around, looking off the school. “There are plenty of places where we’ll more than likely have to know our way to throughout the semester. The training area, music room, and the arena for example. I even hear there are some places outside of campus that are accessible when the time is right. We’ll probably spend at most 10 minutes at each place. How does that sound?”

It sounded logical to Alyss. Completely and utterly logical, there was no way Alyss could say no. Beaten in a round of verbal wits, she had no choice but to agree. Nodding her head in confirmation, Alyss was ready to go. “Yes, very well… Where would you like to go first, Rose?”

“Yes, very well… Where would you like to go first, Rose?”

Rose's eyes lit up when Alyss agreed to tour around with her. "That's fantastic. Now then...I think I want to see the arena first." She said. She was pretty sure that she was probably one of the most sociable people at this academy, and with big associations came big rivalries. Whatever they were and when they were to form, she would be willing to accept any challenge she'd get to battling someone out. Alyss didn't seem like that kind of person, but both of the girls should at least know what their fight environment would be like in this school. "After all, we never know who wants to pick a bone with us. And if we're going to fight here, might as well know our surroundings first."

Looking around, from the spot Rose was standing, she could only guess that the arena was more northern to where the cafeteria was. She probably should have brought her map with her that she had clumsily left in her dorm room - but she would try to find her way around. Besides, now that it was getting a little darker than it was before, the lightning ball would be a good way to find the way around the school.

"Shall we roll on?" She asked, and actually began to move forward without entirely thinking of what she was doing. Stopping a little in her tracks, she turned around, realizing that she was stepping out of the light range. This wasn't exactly the first time she had the strongest urge to move that she sometimes acted without thinking. She walked back over to Alyss, laughing to herself a little bit. "Excuse that little move I made. Anywho, let's get moving."

Alyss Mithrandir

Rose appeared to be happy when Alyss agreed. “That’s fantastic. Now then… I think I want to see the Arena first.” Why the Arena? Alyss thought. She really couldn’t see why people thought it to be so interesting. It was so… barbaric. Why people felt the need to solve their problems through brute force was something that would forever remain out of Alyss’ reach of thought. Every problem could be solved through peaceful negotiation. Going around and challenging people to duels was barbaric, and shouldn’t be done anymore.

“After all, we never know who wants to pick a bone with us. And if we’re going to fight here, might as well know our surroundings first.” Alyss wondered if Rose made enemies often. She didn’t look the type… but looks could often be deceiving. Alyss couldn’t ever do something like that. If she ever had to fight, it wasn’t going to be because she wanted to. Someone was going to have to force her to do it. Though, as she thought about it, she was somewhat worried about Rose. She sounded confident enough… but could someone like her really hold her own?

“Shall we roll on?” She asked, moving away from Alyss and her lightning ball. Rose seemed to be not only excited, but in a hurry. Pausing, she turned back to Alyss. “Excuse that little move I made. Anywho, let’s get moving.” As Alyss walked closer to Rose, she couldn’t help but giggle. “I am sorry, I do not mean to be rude. It just struck me as funny.” Alyss wasn’t quite sure where the Arena was, so she let Rose take a slight lead. “Do you… make enemies often?” She asked, genuinely curious if she did or not. After all, if they were going to be friends, Alyss wanted to make sure she was always there for her in case anything ever happened.

“I am sorry, I do not mean to be rude. It just struck me as funny.” Well it was clear now that Rose did want to look around the school eagerly. She held her hair in front of her as some wind passed the two girls by as they began walking northward. "No harm done. I tend to not think entirely when I'm ecstatic." The campus looked empty right about now. Very little students stood around the courtyard, whether if they were having conversation or if they were enjoying the final minutes of day, and pretty soon, they would be gone too.

“Do you… make enemies often?” She heard Alyss ask. Rose slowed down her pace a little bit so that her and Alyss were side by side as they walked, once again realizing that she was getting a little too far ahead. She looked up at the sky as she thought about Alyss' question. As much as it wasn't hard to answer, it wasn't a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer either.

"I wouldn't exactly call it often," Rose started as her eyes narrowed back down to the direction she was going. "But at the same time, it's definitely not impossible either - what with how some people can be nowadays." In fact, Rose had a whole history behind that statement. There had been feuds between old friends, some relatives, even staff from her old school that happened in the past of her life. The funny thing was that it was never her that started the rivalries, and they formed mainly because of the dislike of her personality. In the end, it was all started by the person who thought negatively of her. "But it's not a crazy fact that some people have gotten sick of how open minded I am, even though I don't completely understand why myself."

Hard to understand indeed, but she often reminded herself that what's done is done. It was human tendency to be prejudice about certain people. Maybe she couldn't understand because she wasn't all that human. Glancing over at Alyss, she had began to wonder what kind of person she was.

"So, what about you? I highly doubt that you're a threat to society, but how do you handle people that may have qualms with you?"

Alyss Mithrandir

They walked north, directly to the Arena. Even if Alyss had no intention of ever fighting it, she was quite curious as to where the barbaric rituals of combat took place. Rose didn’t seem to think about Alyss’ giggle too much, which was quite a good thing. Most people probably wouldn’t take too kindly to someone giggling at them, but Rose seemed to be a good sport about it. Which was also a good thing, for Alyss felt as if she could open up a bit more around her instead of being so stiff all the time.

As they made it to the courtyard, Alyss and Rose both spied a few students still standing around. Some were talking, perhaps about how their day was so far, and others were getting ready to leave for bed. “I wouldn’t exactly call it often,” Rose said, answering Alyss’ question. “But at the same time, it’s definitely not impossible either – what with how some people can be nowadays.” Alyss wondered what she had meant. Enough could be gathered that Rose had seen some action.

“But it’s not a crazy fact that some people have gotten sick of how open minded I am, even though I don’t completely understand why myself. Rose said. However, Alyss also couldn’t understand why someone would be angry at her for being open minded. Alyss admired open minded people. They were typically strong and strong minded. Why would someone not like someone that could be completely honest and up front? “So, what about you? I highly doubt that you’re a threat to society, but how do you handle people that may have qualms with you?”

Alyss paused for a few moments, and immediately found herself wanting to lie. However, she couldn’t bring herself to be dishonest to someone that had been completely honest with her. “We-well… I get nervous, to be honest.” Almost as if capitalizing her point, she laughed somewhat nervously and scratched her head. “I get horrible anxiety attacks, even when I am simply debating. It is… hard. So I tend to run away from things… or cower down.” Alyss frowned as she said it, and somewhat blushed as well.

“All in all… I am quite the pushover.” She could feel her nervousness wanting to take over. “I-is it getting hot out here?”

“We-well… I get nervous, to be honest.” As if on cue, Alyss had laughed with a touch of nervousness in the tone and scratched her head. It had to be a nervous reaction. “I get horrible anxiety attacks, even when I am simply debating. It is… hard. So I tend to run away from things… or cower down.” Rose turned to Alyss for a brief second to notice that her cheeks were turning red, even with the contrasting light from the lightning ball hitting against them, and she didn't look happy at all about what she was explaining.

“All in all… I am quite the pushover...i-is it getting hot out here?” Nope. The weather had been breezy and cool since Rose had arrived at the school. Despite what Alyss was feeling right now, Rose felt a smile curl on her lips. She almost thought that the way Alyss was around some people was cute. "Hey, calm down, will ya? There's nothing to be nervous about when you or anyone else is with me." By then, the two girls had turned a corner which had shown two large double doors on one wall, and a wooden door on the wall beside it. Seeing that there was no lock, Rose tugged on the handle of the wooden door - figuring that the two large double doors may take a bit of effort to open, and now wasn't the time to exert a lot of energy.

"I assume it's because...you're afraid of displeasing anyone? That's quite a common reason for most shy people - though I could be wrong." Stepping through, she noticed that it was a rather small room, but she noticed another door and a large window revealing where the door lead to. "But unfortunately, it's impossible to please everyone; I know that for a fact," Nearly too much experience to back up that statement. "At the same time though, you're probably less likely to make enemies. Like, did you sit with anyone during dinner that thought you were well behaved?"

After she asked that, she strolled over to the second door that led to the area seen behind the window. Opening it, she walked out further to realize that the area was massive. The building was circular, and the seats that surrounded the open area were arranged as if they were part of a coliseum. This had to be the arena they were looking for. "Good lord, this is massive!"

Alyss Mithrandir

“Hey, calm down, will ya? There’s nothing to be nervous about when you or anyone else is with me.” Rose said, as they reached the Arena. The two double doors were massive in size compared to the small door that Rose was now tugging on. Much to Alyss surprise, the door wasn’t locked. Quite the contrary, it was wide open. Why would they leave this unlocked? Thought Alyss. It made no sense at all. Surely they would lock it to make sure that students don’t break in and fight during the night…

Rose stepped through first, and Alyss followed closely behind. Even with her electricity ball, it was rather dark. “I assume it’s because… you’re afraid of displeasing anyone? That’s quite a common reason for most shy people – though I could be wrong.” She was right, of course. Alyss hated displeasing and disappointing people. It made her feel awful inside. Of course, it didn’t help that her upbringing was rather sheltered. “But unfortunately, it’s impossible to please everyone; I know that for a fact, at the same time though, you’re probably less likely to make enemies. Like, did you sit with anyone during dinner that thought you were well behaved?”

She had no idea. Alyss had just gotten done eating dinner with the entire Disciplinary Committee! And from what they said… she was very well behaved. Rose opened the second door that led even further into the Arena. Still following closely behind, Alyss couldn’t help but feel bad as she realized she was technically breaking in. “Good lord, this is massive!” Rose exclaimed.

Massive was an understatement to Alyss. The arena was colossal. Who in their right mind would need all this space to fight?! “U-unbelievable…” Alyss let slip. If someone wanted to, they could hide an entire army in here. The huge circular dome looked as if it could fit the entire city of Riven in it as far as Alyss was concerned.

Forgetting that she hadn’t answered any of Rose’s questions, Alyss explained. “W-well, I uh… I do not like disappointing people… at all. As for who I sat with at dinner, it was the entire Disciplinary Committee...” Of course, Alyss was too busy looking at everything in the arena to actually look at Rose. Alyss didn’t think it was possible to get a case of vertigo while standing on the ground, but she felt as if she was experiencing it now.

“I-I cannot fathom as to why the arena is so… big...”, Alyss said. “Rose… what is it that you specialize in, exactly? I-if you do not mind me asking.” Being a Spellsword, Alyss used a combination of speed, some magic, and her swords in combat. However, she was very interested in knowing what Rose could do.

Unbelievable indeed. The arena was built as if any type of battle could be held here, even the fiercest of warriors against savage beasts could probably be set here in this area. Which made Rosalynn wonder, if the arena was this large, there must be some powerful people that were enrolled in this school. Maybe some attacks could be cast in this wide of a range? That would leave Rose awestruck. As she looked all around the area, Alyss' voice interrupted her admiration.

“W-well, I uh… I do not like disappointing people… at all. As for who I sat with at dinner, it was the entire Disciplinary Committee...”

At that, Rose's attention shifted completely to Alyss. "You actually got to sit with them!? I don't know any of the members personally, but I've always wondered just how strict they were - even if they are students like us. Something tells me I'd rather not find out..."

“I-I cannot fathom as to why the arena is so… big...”, Alyss said, continuing to examine the rest of the arena's size and architecture. “Rose… what is it that you specialize in, exactly? I-if you do not mind me asking.”
She asked. Rose assumed that the arena wouldn't be a bad place to ask that. She had just realized that her chakrams were still hanging on the wall of her dorm room. If she had brought them with her, she could have shown whoever was interested.

"Oh, I mainly work with ranged weapons. I'm considered an expert with them back where I live." She replied as she bent over to view what was behind the barriers keeping the seats in a secure area. She could see some sort of pattern engraved in a line behind it, and she wondered if it was symbolic or just for show. "Right now, I'm just using my chakrams, but if you were to hand me any weapon to use at a distance, I could probably use it."

Glancing over at Alyss' lightning ball, she could only guess that she was good with lightning. When she had put her hand over the ball earlier, it had nearly heated her hand past comfort level, so worse could possibly be done. "I wonder if monsters are fought here too. Maybe that's why this place is such a juggernaut...but who knows just how powerful the students can get at this school. I mean - this island couldn't have floated on its own will, if you think about it."

“You actually got to sit with them!? I don’t know any of the members personally, but I’ve always wondered just how strict they were – even if they are students like us. Something tells me I’d rather not find out…” Rose said. Alyss thought her reaction was a little funny; much like what she had did earlier. “Oh, I mainly work with ranged weapons,” she said in response to her final question. “I’m considered an expert with them back where I live.”

Rose was a ranged fighter… and an expert at that. Alyss kind of wanted to see her in combat one day, but she would rather not see anyone get hurt. Perhaps she could see her practice one day. “Right now, I’m just using my chakrams, but if you were to hand me any weapon to use at a distance, I could probably use it.” Rose glanced over at Alyss’ ball of lightning again. Alyss wondered what she could possibly be thinking.

Could it be that she was sizing her up? Alyss hoped not… she was confident in her ability to lose. She had been trained well, but her self-confidence was abysmal. “I wonder if monsters are fought here too. Maybe that’s why this place is such a juggernaut… but who knows just how powerful the students can get at this school. I mean – this island couldn’t have floated on its own will, if you think about it.”

That was a good point… who was responsible for making it float? It couldn’t have possibly been a student… could it? It was then that Alyss thought about something that made her heart sink. Fighting monsters in the arena… the mere thought scared her. “W-wait… fig-fighting monsters? T-th-they would not ma-make us do that… w-would they?” Alyss was panicking… again… for the second time tonight. Her palm was getting sweaty, as well as her forehead. Anxiety just hit Alyss like a ton of bricks.

Would they force her to fight monsters? What if they were too strong? What if she couldn’t handle it? She could picture herself being squashed by a colossal sized beast in the Arena as everyone pointed and laughed. They would say things like, “Oh, poor Alyss, too weak to handle it, how typical.” They would send a message to her parents, and they would cry and be sad, and they would have to rent out her room and get rid of her stuff, and they would slowly forget her, all because Alyss was too weak to handle one monster.

“W-what have I gotten myself into? This is bad… this is really bad…” Alyss’ ball of lightning was flickering twice as bad as before. And what of the students… what if they didn’t like her? What if one of them challenged her to a duel in the arena? They would mop the floor with her! What if she went up against the person that lifted the school?! She would be decimated… worse than the monsters. Turning to Rose, she was in almost complete hysterics. “Y-you will help me, right? I-if they make me… fight m-monsters? I… cannot do it alone. I will fail, I just know it.”

“W-wait… fig-fighting monsters? T-th-they would not ma-make us do that… w-would they?” Rose turned around from examining part of the barriers, noticing that Alyss was stuttering. Hopefully, she wasn't having a nervous reaction like before. "It was only a guess. And even if they did, I doubt they would force us to-"

“W-what have I gotten myself into? This is bad… this is really bad…” She was then cut off. The light around them began to blink several times, and Rose glanced down at the lightning ball, which was flickering more than it probably should have. Her eyebrows rose as Alyss seemed to be getting more hesitant by the second. “Y-you will help me, right? I-if they make me… fight m-monsters? I… cannot do it alone. I will fail, I just know it.”

Rose did wonder if the school allowed students to team up to fight against another team or something much bigger - IF there was something much bigger they had in store. She couldn't guarantee that, and Alyss was panicking from the thought. "Hey, hey now. Just relax. It was only a thought I had." She said, raising a hand as if gesturing that there was nothing to worry about. Rose doubted that there was anyone around the arena, or if the walls even allowed sound to pass by them, but things were getting a bit louder than usual. "Like I was trying to say before, I doubt that they're going to force us to fight anyone or anything. Arena battles should be planned by whoever wants to battle willingly."

Without really thinking, she reached a hand out and playfully pinched one of Alyss' ears, giving it a gentle reassuring squeeze between her thumb and index finger as she grinned. "But don't you worry. If there's anything you can't handle, I'll be happy to back you up."
