Final Fantasy Retrospective

I need to seeeee it D: just so i can nitpick every nice thing they say about FFVIII and turn it around negatively. I hate that "game" so much.

and i can't wait to see what they say about FFIX! They beeter be heaping praise ;_;

As if -__- I dont expect them to give IX the praise it deserves, everyone always underrates the game.

But whatever ends up being said in the review, for either game, better be damn good because it's a day late.
 
He thinks that it will be ready to be up at morning (US time). Bear in mind that this is mostly been done by one guy.

Also, he has also started the Metroid Retrospective.
 
I hope they praise IX also, it was a beautiful game.

FFVIII wasn't so good in terms of the battle system. I did love the rest of it though. Not as good as IX though.

And FFIX definatly deserves more praise than FFVIII. It's just better than it in every single way.
 
Wtf...the review said VIII has a large following across the globe...WHAT following? o_O It's not exactly the most popular FF...

Stupid announcer pronounced Eiko wrong too, he said it like "eye-ko" and he called Zidane "z-eye-dane", and he called the Gargants spiders, even they only have four legs and they look more akin to beetles. Moron -__- And he called Lich "linch" too, and he called the Une's Mirror "Yuna's mirror" and he called Eidelons "eye-duh-lons." Idiot needs to learn how to pronounce Japanese words...

Yep. Stupid kids raised on VII and VIII have no appreciation for all the beauty contained in IX.

All in all....the review didn't talk about much at all....kinda disappointing for being a day late. I woulda liked to see more talk on IX, and woulda liked to hear things pronounced correctly. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when people don't pronounce words right.
 
Eh, I think it was a nice retrospective. They didn't overly praise either game (although they did speak quite favorably of VIII's story). What I'm really looking forward to is the FFX retrospective. Now, that game they'd better praise. ;)
 
Yeeeah, i didnt get why they spoke so highly of VIII's story. From what i've heard the main love story is pretty much shite.
 
Well it could be a fairly unbiased view actually. They are looking at almost every title from a positive light in this Retrospective series right now. They are taking their information straight from the Square-Enix company and the makers of the games, and telling it how it is; they are not judging it.
 
All-tim-Eee-Sea-ah for Ultimecia? It pisses me off that Final Fantasy VIII got 8 minutes of cover time and Final Fantasy IX only got 7 minutes of airtime. Beyond that, the coverage of Final Fantasy VIII was vague. They covered what it was but never really delved into how it improved upon the series, only how it was different and what reminiscent features it included. I did like how they mentioned some of its flaws but never really mentioned petty shortcomings.

The pronunciations for Final Fantasy IX were absolutely horrible. I'm not sure he said a single name or place correctly other than Vivi's. I'm glad that they covered that it was Sakaguchi's favorite and that younger gamers didn't get it. I think that's a very good way of putting it. And I have to disagree with you Ronin for bitching about FFVII and FFVIII. It's just that it was a throwback title and those two didn't fit into the old concept. It doesn't mean they were bad or should be judged based on their differences.

I liked it too, i didn't know that it was Sakaguchis favourite but im glad it is, FFIX gets too negative a rep. that retrospective really singled out why - Younger gamers don't get it because they never played the older games.

I can't wait for the FFX one, i hope they mention Tidus' design was based off Meg Ryan
 
Seriously though... how gay was that lead-in to Final Fantasy X? They even showed Tidus waiting in the Blitzball "locker room" and they didn't play Otherworld. How could they have possibly missed an opportunity like that to play that song? Fail!

I dont even remember wtf that song is they played! You just HAVE to play Otherworld with that scene, it's wrong to not do so! >_< I agree, pure fail.
 
Also, what the hell was all that shit about Garland being the Darth Vadar of Final Fantasy IX? I don't even get the connection at all. The look isn't even that similar. Whatever... gay.
 
Dammit! I just made a post and don't know what happened to it. I'm on my brother's laptop so I'll wait to post it up again but I think for me, the best have now been done.
