Ya'll heard this news? this sucks.

Please stop spreading rumors. There are multiple sites stating that the information is not true, and the release date is still set for September 30. Photoshop can do some lovely things. Unless Square or Tabata directly confirm the delay, I would ignore this situation.

Though, yes, this is still indeed a rumor (and f*ck Kotaku... just a side note, lol), I will say that it wouldn't bother me much. I could make the generic "We've waited ten years, what's another two months?" joke, despite the fact that development only started in 2012. But honestly it's kind of true. Two months isn't a big deal, particularly because I've seen two months of extra polish turn a good game into a great game several times now. I will always prefer getting a great game to getting the game a bit sooner.

I know some people who work throughout a certain games retail chain though, and none of them have mentioned this, despite being just as big of fans of the series as I am. I'm the first person they'd tell. So I'm personally decently confident this isn't true.

EDIT: Hahaha! Looks like Kotaku made the 'ten years/two months' joke for me, lol. Surprise surprise, Kotaku going for the low hanging fruit.

Gematsu has a source stating the delay to be true. Previously this source has informed the same site of the 30th September release date prior to the Uncovered event. Kotaku continues to have a reputation problem, but Jason Schreier who reports for the site has been at the forefront of some rather explosive leaks and rumour mills that have turned out to be correct - most recently he got death threats for reporting a No Man's Sky delay that turned out to be the case - states he does not habitually report on a rumour until he is sure enough of its veracity from his sources.

It's still a rumour for now, yes, but it's not unsubstantiated. It's just funny to see a lot of people do everything possible to try and find reasons for this to be fake, from Photoshop examinations to ringing up minimum wage GameStop employees who may not have even been properly briefed yet by corporate level of a prospective delay.

Of course, I'm still holding back on an article for this site until a confirmation becomes official.

Until SE confirms this, I'll take it with a grain of salt. Haha. The sources, to me, are questionable most of the time.

But if it is actually delayed, polishing up the game is fine. Just get it out before the end of the year.

There are quite a few inconsistencies here. For one, not every major site out there is going along with this rumor, which one of those sites would be Gameinformer. Some people have already gone to their local Gamestop asking about the delay, and their respective corporate answers are along the lines of the release date still being the same based on the information they have received. Based on some of the images I have seen, the stand up poster for FFXV still displays 9 - 30 - 2016. I don't understand what you find so funny about people trying to debunk this rumor though. Some people pray on this game to fail in every single manner and will do everything within their power to make sure it happens for whatever reason. Some will even go as far as producing false information. As I mentioned before, if Square or Tabata do not address this matter, I wouldn't worry about it.

I find it funny because the amount of zealotry I've seen from places utterly convinced that this is a fake (like FFXV's own Subreddit) really smacks of people being in serious denial. We're just fortunate enough that the fanbase isn't petty and childish enough to wish death on the people reporting this particular delay rumour. Yes, being sceptical of this is the right thing to do. I'm erring on the side of this being true but I'll be lying if I say I'm not sceptical at all. But then there's a line between healthy scepticism and just downright wearing a tinfoil hat while attacking sites like Nova Crystallis for daring to report on a rumour.

Also, is there really an agenda by people who actively want the game to fail? I don't see one and that just sounds silly as heck. You can do so much worse than allegedly make up info about a two month delay which would be more likely be good news in the end than bad news.

I wouldn't put such a dick move past SE. In the past rumours circulating like this n have reached popular media outlets have often turned out to be true so until official confirmation, its really up to the individual whether they want to believe it or not.

But where there's smoke there's fire.

Yes, some want FFXV to fail so their turn-based style formula that they have grown used to over the years can return sooner. Some want FFXV to fail because they are FFvsXIII purists that think Tabata has ruined the vision that Nomura started. Some people want FFXV to fail because they are not/have never been a fan of the franchise in any manner and would like to see its downfall. Why? Because hating on things that one does not like just for the sake of it is the popular trend these days on the internet.

well said Linnaete :pooley:

anyway, i was aware this was a rumor, btw dude but the images are making me lean more towards it being real than fake.

If you weren't fully confident in it, then I don't see why you would post it unless you wanted to start drama. If that was your goal, you have accomplished it.

Renamed this thread to indicate its current status as a rumor. It's not unsubstantiated but let's not go stating something unconfirmed as fact. In any case we'll find out soon--supposedly tomorrow is the date for a formal announcement if there is to be one.

I saw several pictures and news about it in Facebook. I was surprised how many sites and groups shared this false information... I don't believe anything unless there is an official announcement. :P
I'm really curious about what the formal announcement will be like.

It hasn't escaped my attention, but what influence will these people have when it comes to the ultimate commercial success of the game? The vast majority of the potential customers won't be participants in these message boards let alone be people swayed by say, a supposed Versus purist delivering angry sermons about how Tabata ruined things by removing Stella, etc.

And again, I don't understand your hostility towards someone for reporting/posting the rumour. What right do you have to accuse them of doing it for "drama"? The only thing Costello did wrong was to neglect to preface her thread title with the clear statement that this is currently still a rumour and nothing confirmed. Start drama my arse.

Yes, it had to do with the title. If you got a problem with how I address situations then ban me.

Heh. Classic SE.

I dnt care bout FFXV but I see these delays as a taste of things to come with the Remake. Take every announcement SE makes with a grain of salt lol. Feels bad for the really attached FFXV fans.

I kno Capcom wont pull this move with the RE2 remake *phew*

It's currently trending on twitter (JA)

I'm not sure if this is a good move on their part. Now they're going to have to compete against CoD: IW, Pokemon Sun and Moon, and Dishonored 2. All different types of games but they're anticipated nonetheless. But I'm happy they're taking the time they need. I'd rather wait two extra months than have a glitchy game.

Again, I don't see the big deal. Rather have them care enough to continue working, and people would bitch a lot more if there were major issues on day one. 100% good for everyone other than crybabies :P

EDIT:Lol, simultaneously posting the same idea FTW.
