I liked the idea of the Athenian democracy actually. A created council by the people followed by a frequented ostracism keeps the swell in power and the bland filtered from.

In other words randomly banning people if they don't suck up or if you just plain feel like it. That's fascist not democractic. Calling it democracry does not change that it is in fact fascist. Fascist countries, for instance, killled people if they felt like it or if a person didn't do exactly they were told.

Exactly, like how Shin CZ was removed from LOCP. We can't have people talking about video games all the time.

Here we go again on how great LOCP is. Don't you ever tire of it? You know eventually you will exceed a sort of advertising warning points or something.

And you got rid of Shin because he talked about video games all the time?! (and only talking about video games is something I highly doubt he did since I know Shin fairly well) You did Shin a favor then. He didn't get stuck dealing with discriminatory, predatory people anymore.

Don't give me LOCP's url ever, plzkthksbaibai. :)

LOL, Parks is discussion forum politics.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this?

On the response of the idea of an Athenian Democracy - where staff isn't decided by members, but forum related decisions are voted on by them, if I understand it correctly - is pointless. Not only would it waste a lot of extra time doing things that could more productively spent, but most members wouldn't have the experience or knowledge of running a forum to vote with an informed opinion.

This is the internet. Stop taking it so god damn seriously.

I've had plenty of experience adminning and modding on forums of numerous sizes, both large and small. If you want a forum to run well, it's actually really, really easy to do.

- You create forum rules based on fairness, tact, common sense, and an emphasis on being civil towards other members.

- You stick to those rules, enforce them fairly, and don't take favouritism for certain people (Darkbeat with Shin and numorous on ACF) or let the staff break the rules (Jay with everyone on FFR).

Voila. well run forum!

I'd link you to a perfect ruleset, but self-advertising isn't allowed. ;)
