KOTR - Knights of the Round

"I preferrr to eat alone. Sssee you all in a bit."

With that Vesmor leap up on the castle higher then any normal person or being could jump.

Vesmor jumped to his room and saw the servants have left him what he asked for. A large Steak and he started to chow down on it.

((Recycled city from PiD, but what the hell?))

The city known as Kakao can be seen near the slopes of the icy Narew mountains. Seen at a distance, it seems to take the appearance of a fairly rigid pyramid constructed out of giant rectangular blocks. Constructed from stone and iron, Kakao's larger buildings are factories for mass-producing the city's specialty; chocolate delicacies. A market is set up here to exchange money or chocolate for other goods.

As Shenorai, Julius, and Vesmor set foot in the outskirts of town, a brisk wind picked up and sent a veil of white powder past them, billowing their cloaks and Shenorai's coat. The sweet scent of the chocolate that the city produced was swept away as well, for a smell is rather easy to manipulate. Shen's eyes were cast skyward, narrowed as they studied the darkening clouds for a few minutes. Once she recognized a certain trait, she turned back to her two comrades.

"A storm's brewing," she warned them. "Could be a blizzard. We should probably seek an inn and wait until it blows over."

The coldness of the wind gently touched Julius' cheeks, his hair was moved to the sides by the wind. His eyes set on a building on top of a hill, probably an inn of some sort. His feet set on this cold soil, he folded his arms and rose his sight to the sky, witnessing the darkening clouds and random flashes of light.

"I agree, let us search for a place to rest, later on we will continue."

With a simple nod, Shen continued through the plunging temperature as she headed towards a possible inn.

The clouds soon began to shed their icy flakes, letting the wind carry them across the city and skim along the ground. The gentle zephyr soon turned into a fierce blast, sending the hardening crystals of the heavens upon the earth below. In a matter of minutes, the cold path beneath them was iced over, making it sleek and fairly slippery.

Thankfully, the door to a quickly-chosen inn was yanked open and the small group hustled inside and nearly slammed it shut again to keep the elements at bay. Shenorai stamped the snow off of her boots and brushed off bits of ice as she glanced about at the inn.

The first thing to greet them was the sight of a rather large fireplace, which was roughly ten feet wide at the least. The flames were crackling and dancing merrily, its heat embracing all of those within the sitting area around it.

Across from the fireplace was a small bar, which was tended to by a tall and slender elderly man with naught a hair on his head save for his up-swept mustache. His white collared shirt was complemented by a navy blue vest, the sleeves rolled up to keep them from slipping into any drinks he happened to make. The spectacles he wore reflected the light of the fire as he greeted the travelers with a fairly cheesy smile.

"Welcome to the White Stag Inn," he called to them, placing down the glass he was cleaning. "Heck of a storm that's coming in, eh? Can I interest any of you to a room? Or perhaps a glass of warm ale?"

"Just a glass of water for me, I am not in the mood for liquors."

Julius took a chair after traveling for days, his legs couldn't take it anymore and his feet hurt due to the weight of his boots. The cold air of this area almost froze his skin and also he was hungry. After sitting on that chair he leaned his elbows against the counter, then reached his pocket with his right hand and pulled a several golden coins.

"I would like some stew and chicken soup as well. Let them be warm and spicy! And change my glass of water for orange juice. Thank You." He turned to face Shenorai as he awaited for his food. "So do you want something Shenny?" Julius said with a gentle, yet tired tone of voice.

"I'll just have some hot cocoa, I guess," Shen told the barkeep. Seeing how he offered a room, he must've been the innkeeper as well. She fished out a few silver coins out of her pocket as well, obviously paying for her own drink. After all, she didn't want to end up being a burden on Julius.

As she waited for her drink to arrive, Shenorai took up the couch that was closest to the fire, staring into the flames with an exhausted sigh. Even though she was traveling with someone who knew where Lucius went to...even when that someone was a dear friend of hers...her heart was still sunken into her stomach. Likely, she was having withdrawals from lacking the drug known as 'love'. Though Lucius was indeed her first love, it seems she couldn't bear to be away from him for too long.

The scent of the curry alone wafting from the kitchen seemed enough to clear one's sinuses. Seems that Julius' order of spicy stew was nearly finished. However, Shen wasn't fully aware of the progress of their requested food and drink until the barkeep returned with a tray, setting two filled bowls and a glass of orange juice on the coffee table near Julius and a fairly large mug of creamy hot cocoa with whipped cream and garnished with cocoa powder and a cinnamon stick was set near the bounty hunter. Shen half-heartedly handed over the coins and took up her mug, using the provided stick to stir the whipped cream into her cocoa.

"Doesn't look like that storm's gonna let up for awhile," the barkeep noted, providing napkins for the both of them. "A room's only twenty gold each, if you're interested."

"Ok, I agree that we should stay here for a while." Julius said as he patiently awaited for his serving. After a few minutes, his stew and chicken soup were ready. He took his dishes and headed towards a table. He then left his dishes on the table and sat on a small wooden chair. Once prepared, he prayed to God thanking him for having meal and then began to have some of his soup, taking small sips. He also ate some bread and had some of the orange juice. The food was delicious and he was happy to eat something warm during such a harsh weather. While he had his meal, Julius ordered his room and payed the Innkeeper 20 gold coins, the Innkeeper courteously gave him the key to Julius' room and then left to attend the other customers.

Shenorai didn't seem to pay much attention to what was around her. The only hint to how much time has passed here was the dying fire and the number of times someone came to refill the fireplace with large logs.

It wasn't until the innkeeper told her the pub was closing for the night that she fished out the coins needed for a room, requesting one near her friend that she came in with. Once she was given a key, Shen walked over to the stairs, climbing up a floor and searching out the correct door with the wooden number matching her key.

The room was actually pretty cozy, considering it was a little smaller than a normal room. Instead of a fireplace, there was a downward-sloping metallic vent that circulated heat from a lower boiler throughout the building. There was a single window with heavy curtains hanging in front of the glass to prevent the heat from escaping. Hues of a reddish-brown were splashed around the room, even upon the sheets and covers. Once her boots, pack, and coat were near the door, Shenorai slipped into the feather-mattress bed and curled up into a small ball, waiting yet another hour or so before sleep finally claimed her.

Dawn had finally approached, tones of yellow and peach decorated the sky as well as the untouched and sparkling snow on the earth, sculpted from the furious winds that blew the night before. It would appear that God's hands had touched the snow here as well.

Once the early birds rose from their nests, a few of Kakao's inhabitants had taken large shovels and were assisting one another in clearing the snow from the walkways and the roads. Included in that crowd was one of the innkeeper's assistants. The innkeeper himself was busy making breakfast for his customers, frying eggs, flipping bacon, slicing up potatoes, and brewing Kakao's famous hot chocolate.

After finishing his meal, Julius bowed formally to the Innkeeper and to Shenorai, turned around and left to his chambers. While heading upstairs he stumbled across a painting hanging on the left wall, it was a forest located near the Aleria Lake, beautiful for its crystal clear waters and ever green vegetation.

Soon he found himself in his chambers, it was quite late at night and the moon shined elegantly on the darkened sky. Julius took away all his heavy equipment, keeping only his leather pants and white shirt, and then left himself fall heavy on a warm bed. His eyes stared to the ceiling for a few moments, his mind lost in his thoughts.

"I wonder where Lucius might be..."

With that unanswered question made, he closed his eyes and went into a deep sleep.
