Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Got this on Monday, and beat it a bit ago :gasp: It was sooo much better than Drake's Fortune. Only a few parts had me pissed off, and that was near the end of the game. The Shambhalan Guardians were total dicks :hmph: Killing me with their damn crossbows :rage: The characters really make these games  I rarely enjoy shooter games, but the story in the game was quite good, which kept me playing. Plus I like jumping around onto things and climbing and stuff like Indiana Jones.

Dark Souls

After several grueling weeks of gaming, I managed to get my third-created character, a caster build, to the final boss. Thanks to having saved Solitare before, this boss was laughably easy. He focused mostly on Solitare while I spammed Crystal Soul Mass, Crystal Spear and Soul Spear on Gwyn. I chose to take the Dark Lord ending. I will say, the most frustrating part of the game for me was the Bed of Chaos. Yes, this boss is rather easy to dispose of, but after destroying one orb, trying to get to the second was maddening and was probably the hardest part of the boss. Getting to the center took a few tries because for some reason my character wouldn't jump when I said jump, which resulted in my death a number of times. I was expecting at least for the path to Gwyn to be difficult, but only 5 black knights with only one difficult terrain area. Currently doing New Game + with my caster. Putting my level points into Faith since my Int is up to 50. Then I'll add Strength, Vitality and Endurance

the last game i completed was the storyline of call of duty: modern warfare 3, it was amazing, graphically, theatrically, and some great action sequences (the final mission was immense)
the killing of macarov was epicly awesome

the game was so enjoyable and it is something i would play through again

I beat Sonic Generations a few days ago, but then continued playing it for trophies. Overall, this was a great Sonic game :gasp: I can't help but complain that they've strayed a bit far from what I started with (Sonic Adventure), but it was still a lot of fun nonetheless. I enjoyed playing as Classic Sonic a lot more than I thought I would, and Modern Sonic was fun for just plain ol' speeding through everything. But when Modern Sonic switched to side scrolling, it was kind of annoying. It took away that speed, but I came to terms with it, and parts of it were pretty fun.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary just now. It was amazing, because all the nostalgia from the original, is in the remake, and it feels like you are playing the same game with better graphics. However, you can play the same game from 10 years ago as well. I liked it a lot, which is not surprising. The flood will always be annoying and disgusting as hell though. The terminals are something new in Halo CEA, and they hint at Halo 4's story, so I want to get those next. Oh and of course beat it on Legendary next time around. :ryan:

Uncharted 3

Huh, you guys weren't kidding when you said that they've cranked it up a bit for the normal difficulty. I don't remember dying this often in the previous game, though I have to admit, my aiming skill is awfully shaky at best. For a recommendation, don't do what I did and attempt to play through this game on a small SDTV like the one I have. It makes it a lot more agonisingly difficult than it has to be, especially during moments such as the sandstorm in the desert near Ubar.

All in all, Naughty Dog have made another AAA title, as I've expected of them. No, it's not my absolute favourite game of the year, but it's definitely the best PS3 game I've played for a while yet. They're not original with their ideas, but damn, Naughty Dog knows how to mesh these ideas together and develop them into something epic, with interesting new twists thrown at you around each corner.

FF13, since I was replaying it.

I'm sure everyone's already aware, but the graphics in this game are <333. They're gorgeous, and by far I think 13 has the best plot out of all of the games. The characters are all awesome, too. Although tbh I'm not much of a gamer, so I was getting stuck quite often. xD The character development is also perfect. I love all of the FF13 characters which, for me, is rare. Ordinarily I hate most of the characters. xD In general, though, it's fun to play and worth the money, even though I'd bought a pre-owned copy.

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn & Throne of Bhaal (PC)

After finally breaking out this gemstone of a game after years of not playing it, I created a human male Druid, Shapeshifter specialty and started in Shadows of Amn. When I wasn't being caught off-guard by some of Minsc's random outbursts (Especially when Jahiera was in my party), I was carefully scanning every room for traps, planning my battles and going through dialogue selections and romancing Viconia (who has 76 romance events in SoA, and an added 12 in ToB, with the ability to change her alignment from evil to neutral). My final party for battling Irenicus was myself, attacking as a greater wolfwere (Yes, they call them wolfweres in the game, not werewolves), Valygar, Imoen, Viconia, Minsc and Jan. I had Imoen summoning, buffing and spell-flinging, Minsc Dispelling and giving Irenicus several boots and blades to the head, myself tanking, Viconia summoning, dispelling and healing, Jan backstabbing whenever he could and spell flinging, and Valygar shooting dispel and acid arrows at range. Had to ressurect Minsc and Valygar once each, and by the battle's end, Viconia was out of healing spells.

In Throne of Bhaal, I had a True Neutral Viconia, a Chaotic Good Sarevok, Minsc, Imoen and Valygar to battle Melissan. began with an all-out slugfest with Imoen creating copies of herself and throwing spells around. Then after the first Pod, resummoned a celestial and pretty much used the same strategies I used against Jon, only I had to defeat Mellisan 3 times before I finally won. Made sure to save right before disconnecting the third pool so that I could do the two endings that were available to me: Become a good God, or give up my divine power and remain mortal. I loved the individual endings for each of the party characters, especially Minsc and Viconia's romance ending (if you decide to remain mortal).

Here's a video of the final battle (Not mine obviously), to give those who have never played the game an idea of how long and planned your battles will be. It took me a good 10 minutes to kill Irenicus and 15 to beat Mellisan.

This game is truly a masterpiece, and if I could only play one full game series ever, this would be it. It's diverse, interesting, humorous yet intense and thought provoking. Everything that a good RPG should be. And while Dragon Age is said to be it's spiritual successor, DA can't hold a candle to the Baldur's Gate series.

The 3rd Birthday

Just completed it on Normal, and it wasn't too bad. In fact, the final boss wasn't as bad as I thought, and there were only a few points in the game that really had me cursing. I've no will left to play anymore now, so I will have to hold off Hard mode for now, and neither have I the will to start unlocking more unnecessary outfits.

Overall, the game...wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've seen all sorts of derogatory comments about this game, really grilling it as if it's Duke Nukem Forever or something. Fortunately, I did get some of my money back, because the gameplay itself isn't actually that bad. No, it isn't by any means amazing either, but it isn't as mediocre as I imagined it would be. It's just an unremarkable third person shooter at heart with minimal RPG elements, and that's pretty much it.

I'm glad to see that they've put some effort into giving each chapter/level their individual flavours, so you can go from shooting Twisted at a nightclub during one mission, to shooting hordes of them while standing on a moving underground tube train the next. As you would probably expect from a game like this, it's quite short. I believe there's only around 6 chapters, and half the total game time was spent doing earlier missions in an attempt to get A grades for them all - or something close to an A grade, though a couple of them are stubbornly stuck at C grade.

The story is easily the worst part of the game. The slagging off this game got is primarily to do with the story, and it is as clear as day why. Characters barely feel like characters at all, just cardboard cut-outs that can speak but with little to no personality of their own. Aya is just so awfully uninteresting and bereft of character, and the overarching plot is just an unfathomable mess most of the time. I may even need to do some reading around the ending, because of how bewildering it was. It's strange - it's like my brain decided to switch off during cutscenes, greatly limiting my ability to grasp and understand the story.

I'll probably give it a uhh, 7/10 if I can ever be bothered to review it. Story and characters are rubbish, but the gameplay is passable. Like a mid-B midnight movie shown on TV.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

Finished this game on Saturday night, it was a whole lot of fun which really surprised me because of the ratings it was given on a lot of game sites, I'm actually quite sad that it is over with. It had stupid bits, like most of the dialogue and the female character was a pain in the arse. It glitched a lot as well but it was still really fun. Playing challenges against friends while completing the main mission and then trying to do your secret mission kept it really exciting and competitive even though it is a co-op game. I think more co-op games should do that :O

The ending was cool, it had a special choice thing (I wont give away any more) and depending what you do you get a different ending, I liked that.

Overall the game had it's issues but I had such a fun time playing it that I will forgive it for those problems.

7.5/10

Batman: Arkham City

I would honestly say that this was my favorite game of 2011 along with L.A. Noire. I've had the game for close to a month and I've already played through it multiple times. Kind of obsessed with it. I didn't know how much they would improve upon on the first one but I feel the second game was far superior.

Hotel Dusk a few weeks ago, and Ace Attorney Investigations a few days ago. Both interesting games, with some neat features, but fairly frustrating at times. Both cool, though.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. It's better than 2 as far as Sullivan is concerned. He was in this one MUCH more. Story wise... well, all three of them have their high points. I can't decide.

Resident Evil 5

Omg, I have finally finished this game after years of being stuck on the very last boss. I've tried to play through this game on multiple occasions with different people but could never be bothered to finish it until recently. I was very shit at it and was not much use to my partner but I had a lot of fun, the levels are entertaining to me and lots of people say it's not really a horror game but I found it horrifying so it did the job I reckon. There were multiple times where it had me scared :sad3:

The ending was a little mehhh but I did kill the last boss on my own /smug (well I got the finishing blow on him anyway.... >_>)

Now I am ready for RE6 :griin:

Batman: Arkham City.

Phenomenal game, even MORE Riddler stuff than Asylum (made my puzzle-stupid side VERY happy) and the ending successfully avoids the 'came outta nowhere' hole, while still being adequately surprising and unexpected. The cues are all there except for that very, VERY last minute curveball that's actually pretty goddamn satisfying...until you realize just what it means.

And then it trascends into the realm of incredibly awesome.

The last game I finished was Portal 2, which was very funny and entertaining. I didn't find it too short at all, it was at least twice as long as the first game not to mention on top of that there's multiplayer and free DLC. Some parts could have been a bit better or not as hint heavy, but other than that it was excellent. Sadly I can't finish the multiplayer for at least a year

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten

This is the most enjoyable Disgaea game I've played since the first. Disgaea 2 and 3 were both good games in their own right, but the stories lacked the humour of the original, and ended up being quite disappointing overall. Disgaea 4 did as well - I doubt they'll ever duplicate it unless they bring back Laharl, Etna and Flonne as main characters again, honestly - but that said, the cast was fantastic this time around, and the political theme of the story was highly entertaining. I found it much easier to warm up to the cast in this one, and the gameplay remained the same solid grindfest...although the Heart Cannon strategy made the last boss an absolute joke.

Defeated the Diablo III beta with some of the classes.

Pretty satisfied with the beta, side from how short it is, and I can't wait for the full release. Can't really get that big of a feeling on the characters and their skills due to the beta being so short. It only has Act 1. The quests are nice and such, and so are the classes.
