League of Roleplayers

Thanks for the welcomes. I might be new to the forums, but RPing is nothing new for me, or dealing with fellow RPers for that matter. I'm already well aware we have our own unique vein of insanity. I welcomes it with open arms a long time ago XD. I'm sure once I find a relatively new, interesting RP somewhere, I'll try and just hop in headfirst and see what happened.

Mitsuru Kirijo

I expect you will now understand the consequence of now being a Guild. (Muahahahahahahahaha)

.. That is, to have as much as fun through role playing, and providing a great experience to others as well as yourself.

You would do well to bear the first post of this thread in mind, and perhaps, take pleasure in the fact your name's now up there. When you join role plays, please be as active as you can, and notify others if life decided to throw you a punch.

Just make sure to notify others if you would be absent for a period of time. It is rather irritating to actually encounter someone who simply vanishes into thin air without at least telling the others. The role play would then rot away and die, unless the members are still around and keen on reviving it.

This Guild's sole objective is to ensure activity in role plays after all. I almost haven't encountered a role play that actually lasted to the end. So, this Guild's objective is this as well. Go for it. I'm certain I'll get to see more of that some day.

Great. Thanks.

I've got an FFVIII RP set two years after the end of the main game, and basically, things are going wrong again due to a terrorist group called the Rapture Sorceresses, and I need more people to join as canon characters, as only Squall and Laguna have been taken. It's called Whiteout, and it's in the Secondhand Stories.
Any help is appreciated.

I would have joined if I were more familiar with the story, but unfortunately no.

From experience, I seem to notice that role plays with roles that must be taken tend to take a longer time to start up, eh. It always appears that there will be quite a number that are put on hold while waiting for people to sign up for those canon roles.

Well, then again, for a story set not too far from the original, I suppose that's understandable, but I'll suggest to put lesser of such roles in future.

For instance, your role play, Mitsuru Kirijiro, actually 20 canon characters to fill! If you're planning on waiting till all those are filled up, I can almost assure you it's impossible unless there is an influx of interested members.

Nevertheless, for members interested on it as well. The link's below.

No. Rinoa, Selphie and Zell are the main characters I want filled.

Really? Not even Squall? That's a little surprising, at least that of the six main characters, only half are necessary.

I have Squall. XD Quistis would be nice, but she and Irvine aren't as important as the other 4 in this story.

Mitsu, I might check it out later on :) But not too sure bout joining it.

Also Mitsuru, waiting for your post in FF IX to get the fight started :D

i lol. Its like an advertisment board for rp ^.^. As for rps that last, i believe the major factor is that one person takes on the whole story. Its all good and dandy, but it will help greatly if you had a co hoster or two to play crucical characters and to keep it in limit of the storyline. TBH, most rps get out of hand because everyone congregate. ITs like we all have to be together. Another point is that everyone becomes good. Then we have an overload of good and not enough evil.

Well, we can't help wanting to be the good guy that saves the day after all. Most people detests the idea of playing bad and dying the bad guy.... I suppose. Honestly speaking, I'm fine with playing bad, though most of the time, I'm playing good.

To Tipsy:

Actually, I only agree with you at certain level.

There are RP hosts that will make sure that the RP stays interesting, who lets everyone do what they want, yet secretly leading everyone and keeping it interesting.

I, for example, am that kind of RP host who likes to control many so called NPC characters who are the " higher ups" and that why have power over the IC world. That way I'm capable of controlling and limiting the actions of other players IC, not while telling it OOC :D While my main character might be a weakling, but with who I focus on character development.

The Last Trip RP will be a tad bit different tho :)

EDIT:

Now bout the bad guy thing ... only advanced/good role players are actually capable or wanting to play weaklings, yet they are capable of influencing their surrounding and others more than the so called over power chars. Also, playing a weak one almost always requires more character development than playing a god. But why people like to be the good guy? As said before by many else, people think that the bads won't win and of course, there are only few that like/accept dying within a RP :D

I adore being the bad guy. It's my strong point in RP's. A dramatic final showdown, with my villain being killed with some kind of incredible move or after an unbelievable fight... Stuff like that is my raison d'roleplay. I even find myself kind of supporting the villains in RPG's were the good guys are just a bunch of self-righteous kids.

It isn't like you need two or more people to be able to finish an RP. 99.9% of the time, they die early because of lack of interest or activity. It doesn't matter how many people you have leading the 'followers' around, they all fall into inactivity death the same way. I've only seen a handful of RP's finish myself, thankfully however, I've been able to see a couple of my RP's finish. It's surprisingly rewarding. Not to mention its so rare, there should be some mark the forums would give you for finishing. XD

As for bad guys, it isn't so much that I wouldn't want to play them, its a few different things. One, the bad guys always lose. I'd like to win at least for a little while. Probably why I like Kefka from FFVI so much. He succeeded in conquering the world, at least for a while. Every other bad guys plot has been foiled.

Another is that sense of solitude. Most everybody wants to be the hero, then I'd be all by my lonesome self in my castle surrounded by darkness and minions. I like interacting with other characters, most bad guys in an RP never do, and there's only so much you can write in an RP post when your essentially RPing alone. It might be slightly better if your some middle ground bad guy who's below the ultimate one, since they would interact with the good guys a little more often.

The other, and probably most substantial for me, is just bad experiences with it in the past. It's the reason why I don't play villains or RPB's. On places I've RPed before, most characters were probably godly to some degree. Not necessarily power like a god, but a hell of a lot more was allowed than what is on this forum. Playing the bad guy, the cards were stacked against you even more so than they usually are. A lot of god-modding usually makes more less than spectacular RPing in general. Playing the villain was hard since nobody wanted to be one, everyone knew the bad guy would lose and RPed accordingly WAY too early to do so. It wasn't any fun, in fact quite the opposite. I'd go with miserable.

All of that tied together usually makes for a pretty convincing way to NOT be a villain. I mostly choose to stay away from it because of past experiences with other RPers taking advantage of things and making it extremely one sided and just not fun to RP with. I'd love to be in an RP playing a villain in the kind of example Mitsuru pointed out, but I doubt I'd even bother until I got to trust the people around here and their skills a bit better. And likewise for everyone else to me, as well I'm sure.

I totally agree with you Exile :)

Though, you should check out the FF IX RP. I am proud to say, that villains in there have really had good time and for most of the RP, have been dominating the world. And I'm very sure that things don't go the opposite for a while.
Bout socializing with other villains, my main villain, Mitsuru's and Shaun's villains were allied and communicated with each-other. So yeah, for people who love to play villains, my RP is awesome :D

For example, currently Mitsuru and I are having an epic battle, which is
meant to be lost by me a.k.a the good guy

Now, everyone who are taking part of the FF IX RP, it's not recommended to read the next spoiler.
I'm famous for my story twists and it might be that the good guys will lose. But I'm not sure as of yet. I kind of let the story flow continue and do what it does. If the good guys get beaten, the bads have won. If it goes the opposite, it is exactly the other way :D

Also, I'm giving my best to not let the RP die and I'm 95% sure that it won't. I have also been able to revive it once. And even when some members have left, I have still managed to continue the story. And when you currently look at the post count, it has progressed to quite far :D

Anyway, it's my dream (RP-wise) to get the RP to its end, which isn't near as far as I can think of.

I have to say that Solid's RP is one of the more successful I've taken part in. And the villains get great focus and socialising.

Ack! You posted an RP spoiler. :gonk: I'll resist. For now. :jtc:

Thing is, I don't like playing the bad guy. My reason is not because I don't like to die (in fact I prefer myself dying in RP's), it's just that I lack the cunning to be a bad guy, in fact if I was to be a bad guy, I'd RP people who just want to do bad things for the sake of doing it (aka the For the Evulz Principle). I just won't make a good villain, that's why I am usually the good guy.

Though I also share that dream Solid, to finish an RP (which in this site's history, it has never been done)

I agree. In an RP, there has to be someone who kills simply for shits and giggles, aka the madman, but they don't often survive the game or RP.

Well, I'm kind of afraid that Letitia might get freaking strong in time, if she survives :D

And well, I also agree that if a RP ever makes it to it's end, it should get some kind of special reward :D

BTW! Doesn't the league of legends stand for keeping the RP's alive? o_O
