Most famous FF character?

Who are the top ten most famous Final Fantasy characters in your opinion? Please, try to include reasons why.

1) Cloud. He's the ultimate hero, and FFs signiture character, the hair, the costume. Everything.

2) Sephiroth. He killed Aerith, one of the most infamous VG scenes ever, work it out.

3) Aerith. Sephiroth killed her, one of the most infamous VG scenes ever.

4) Squall. He's been in KH and has a legion of fangirls.

5) Vincent. Army of fangirls. Own game.

6) Tifa. Army of fanboys. Huge boobs.

7) Auron. Resident badass of FFX. Army of fanboys and girls.

8) Yuna. Heroine of FFX and FFX2.

9) Tidus. FFX and FFX2 revolve around him.

10) Vivi. When people think of a black mage, they think of Vivi.

Reasons kinda sucky, i'll expand upon them after sleep.

I think the most famous FF character there is Sephiroth, He seems to be the most famous villian of the videogame era, because he has killed one of the other famous FF characters and that's how most people know Sephiroth.

I'd say Sephiroth pretty easily. There's enough fanart and games involving him nowadays to sink North America.

Second would be Cloud, I think, mainly since he's the figurehead of the most popular FF game yet, and is pretty identifiable.

If there was a most popular woman in FF, it'd be Tifa (damn this FFVII!!!) for similar reasons as Sephiroth, although the fanart is often a little less...um...dignified. Yeah.

1.) Tifa -- as Mark has mentioned, army of fanboys. Too bad I usually agree with fanboy views, even though I'm not one.

2.) Cloud -- I think both him and Tifa are in a footrace for most famous. I think everyone who's ever played an RPG has heard of them.

3.)...ah, screw it. *Includes Numbers 4, 5, and 6.

Basically, the rest of the FFVII cast. Aerith being Number 3, because, you know, she died and a lot of people remember that moment. Number 4 would be Cait Sith, even though apparently many people hate him. Number 5 would be Red XIII, just because I know a lot of people who like him and know him. Number 6 would be Cid. A guy in a Final Fantasy game named Cid would certainly attract a lot of attention, since, you know, he's been in nearly ever FF game created. Number 7 would be Sephiroth, because he's every gamer's favorite villain.

8.) Squall. As the main character of FFVIII, and the fact that a lot of people have actually played FFVIII makes him pretty popular....at least as far as I know.

9.) Vaan. Most tyros to the the FF series usually get FFXII. Case in point, my cousin who got this game over the summer. He hates Vaan...and so do a lot of other people. It's one of those instances when people hating you actually makes you pretty popular.

10.) Ashe. With her ad on the top of every single page, it's hard for her NOT to be popular.

I would think Cloud would be more popular than Sephiroth. Cloud has appeared in many different games, more than Sephiroth. Cloud has even appeared in an advertisement for a major phone company. (Motorola or Nokia.) Sephiroth would come second. Sephiroth does have a huge fan base but Cloud is more of an icon than him. Sephiroth is more popular but Cloud is more famous than Sephiroth.

Sorry AG, but I think Tifa is more famous than Aerith.

I actually don't think Tifa is that famous. People that do not play Final Fantasy usually do not know who she is. She may be more liked that Aerith, but definently not more famous.

My list.

1. Cloud. Even people who do not play video games have heard of Cloud at some point in their life. They may not know what game he is from, or what he looks like, but they still have heard of him.

2. Sephiroth, always known as the bad guy from Final Fantasy VII. Again, people who do not play video games have at least heard of Sephiroth.

3. Aerith. Will forever be known as "the girl who was killed in that one video game." Lesser known than Cloud and Sephiroth, but anyone who has at least played a video game at some point in their life after the SNES has heard of this character.

4. Squall. People familur with the Final Fantasy series or casual gamers know him as "the main character of FFVIII."

5. Yuna. A very popular cosplay at anime cons. Anyone at least familur with anime know who she is.

6. Rikku. Also, anyone at least familur with anime knows that this character exists. Very popular cosplay at cons.

7. Locke. Yes I know. But many people who are hard core gamers, even ones that are not Final Fantasy fans, know who this character is. Strange since he isn't the main character.

I defo have to agree with Cloud, I think I'd have Auron abit further up the list though. Aeris would most definately be second for that whole death scene & Seph for the same reason obviously.

Can't say I'd include anyone fron XII altho Dr Cid seems to be quite famous -he is hawt lol

The Advent Children Craze is pretty much over now though. And even when it was popular most of it was "ZOMG! Cloud is so cute! Sephiroth looks awesome! LOLZ"

Advent Children was mostly just for the hardcore FF fans anyway. Some people who had never played saw it, but Tifa wasn't really that much of a standout to them. Most of it was, "Is that the girl that died? And Wow! These graphics are awesome!" or my favorite "I have no idea what's going on"

Tifa and Vincent are popular among FF fans, but outside of the gaming culture, they are not that well known.

Well, considering I know few who know of Final Fantasy I can judge by seeing who they know. xD

1) Cloud - He's not the best Final Fantasy character yet pretty much everyone associates Final Fantasy with Cloud. "Heard of Final Fantasy?" "Yeah. Cloud's the hero, right?" People think Cloud is the hero in all of them. '
2) Vincent - While he didn't make a big appearance in Advent Children, his different appearence and mysterious yet knowledgeable personality allowed him to be one of the most famous Final Fantasy characters.
3) Sephiroth - The most notorious bad guy of the lot. Not many people know about Cloud without knowing about Sephiroth.
4) Yuna - I think that X is fairly famous for its highly realistic animation - which was a breakthrough at the time. Since Tidus isn't a character many want to remember, they remember Yuna more often. X-2 also made her popular with some men...
5) Squall - I think that thanks to both Kingdom Hearts and the fact VIII had some of the best graphics on the PS1, Squall is remembered by a fair few.

I don't think many others are famous. I'm talking about those who don't really know Final Fantasy y'see. xP

Cloud
He is the main protagonist of, argueably, the best Final Fantasy title of the franchise and has appeared in several other games, including spinoffs and an animated movie. He's most probably the most iconic of the all the protagonists.
Sephiroth
He is the main antagonist of Final Fantasy VII, for whose fame I've described. Sephiroth is amongst the most well-known and iconic villains, and not just within the FF franchise. His theme song is recognized far and wide and his popularity has seemed to know of no bounds.
Aeris
Aeris has captivated many a Final Fantasy fans. Her role was extremely important through the VII story and when she was shockingly killed off many were taken by surprise. I think that it is safe to say that many bonded with her and to see her meet an untimely demise, just added to her recognition. She is very mysterious in regards to her past and the role she played in VII that she is one of the most famous of the FF characters.
Squall
Squall was quite famous due to the fact that people loved his character in VIII. He was quite a cold one, however, discovered feelings for Rinoa and this changed him. I think that a lot of people were taken by Squall and his persona; which proved very mysterious and then endearing.
Tifa
Tifa is a martial artist who can kick butt. I think that she is well-known more for sex--appeal reasons, however, I think that she is also well known for her impressive fighting prowess. Especially within the movie, Advent Children.
Cid
Well Cid's famous because he has featured in every Final Fantasy game since his introduction to the series. He is one of the Final Fantasy icons; a consistent character that always pops up in varied roles and forms (most of the time in relation to machines, specifically airships).
Yuna
Yuna was a very loveable character in FFX, one that I think people really followed her. She had a big responsibility, but the way she handled it and how this responsibility changed her made her vey endearing. She was one of the best characters to come out of a Final Fantasy game.
Vivi
Well, who couldn't love Vivi, eh? He is one of the characters that I think players bonded with above all others. His journey was very touching and his cluelessness really made it more so. He was constantly learning and discovering new things, painful and good. As much of a loveable character as he was, he also displayed immense power and proved valuable in battle.
Kuja
Kuja is famous because he was a memorable antagonist who really made an impact. Whether it was his feminine appearence and mannerisms, his poetic monologues, the way he carries himself, the way he displayed great power or just because he looked like Sephiroth's sibling; he made an impact. His persona, power and ambitions were all great; and really made him stand-out.

1. Cloud: The hero of final fantasy (to most). He is even known to non final fantasy players from Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts.

2. Sephiroth: The villian of Final Fantasy. Again, same reasons as Cloud, plus the really really long sword thing going on.

3. Cid: In almost every Final Fantasy in existence, as well as both Kingdom Hearts. Not any particular personality trait that makes him famous, just his existence.

4. Vincent: The ultimate mystery character. He is always shrouded in mystery and so forth, making him a very popular character. He does, of course, have his own game.

5. Bahamut: Also in almost every final fantasy that featured summons or something of the ilk. Always a dragon of great power, and often one of the best in the game. A very popular "character".

6. Yuna: Obviously from her role in X and X-2. Her cutesy little acts are often drooled over by less fortunate gamers (or those with no lives). Because of the curse of X-2, her fame has even bypassed Tidus in my opinion.

7. Tidus: Mainstay one of the most famous final fantasy games (next to VII). Obviously a big one.

8. Auron: The only real iconic warrior in the mix. He bore the silent persona and the huge weapon to such great mix that he has even earned himself an appearance in KHII.

9. Tifa/Aerith: I grouped these two together because they are about tied. Most who know one, know the other. I placed them down here because they played minor roles outside the original game.

10: Lulu: I place her on the list for her outfits. She is often viewed as "controversial" in her outfit (indeed, numerous threads have been created for it). Regardless of her personality, her body has earned her a spot on many radars.

Well I don't have many people to suport my view, but for me it would go like this.

Cloud - FF VII being the most popular game in Serbia, and it's protagonist Cloud, it's not really suprising that he still makes influence into various shows (anime for once), games and so on. His buster sword is an icon which also made him famous, and the fact that a lot of people asociate him with FF, and Advent Children.

Sephiroth - One thing is a fact people, this guy right here is the best vilain
of all times and all games. In anime there is Orochimaru, Aizen, Grimmjow, in other games (including FF) we have many more, but in my view and I don't stand alone with that Sephiroth is the greatest, AND best known bad guy ever.

Also Squall, Vincent are suprisingly well known and liked, but those two are most likely the most famous ones. ^___^

No1: Tidus the boy from Zanarkand, how i wish to have gone there the dream city where u can live for ever

No2: Sephiroth the calamity from the sky and master of the Masamune

No3: Rikku the ever jublant Albhed princess spiral eyes and pilot of my star ship the galaxian

No4: Auron the jouneyman of the paths of the dead.A massive sword what more needs to be said, apart from the odd remark about yunas hair

No5: Tifa shes my 7th heaven & what a set.....eyes....and boobs there i said it like tifas boobs and her limit breaks

No6: Yuna hard to gaurd but easy to read , thats how she, is the bourden of a people and a neccersary sacrifice

IMO:

1. Most popular FF character by far, dunno why but he seems to draw a lot of attention, I think there are characters in FF as great as him, in my opinion it was Advent Children that got him to the top.

2. I can't really say much except that he looks cool and he is Cloud's nemesis, only natural that he becomes as popular as him.

3. From being an extra character in the game this guy managed to become one of the coolest characters IMO, after AC and his own game DoC there is no mistake that he is at the top of the list.

4. With the coming of PS2 and the long awaited FFX, I think that the new gaming generation that started playing FF from X then backwards find him the dearest, also a lot of girls seem to like him .

5. I think I should have put Aeris/ Tifa , cause to me their significance and popularity is much the same. Also now we get to see Aeris again in a game so she is by far the most popular female character in FF.

6. This cute girl climbed the ladder really mostly cause of X-2 IMO.

Most famous FF character? Well I see 2 obvious favorites here when you take a look at the amount of fanboys and girls in the world: Cloud and Sephiroth. I'm sure many have already gone into deep discussion on them since the revolutionary game of FFVII has taken off in so many directions involving spin-offs, sequels, remakes, and such.

However, let's go onto other games besides FFVII.

Auron. The quiet, experienced, strong, and legendary Guardian with whiskey by his side and the Masamune for swipes. Can ya knock this guy? Nah. He's a fan favorite in FFX and his appearance in KHII heightened that to many other fans.

Squall's a hater or a lover when it comes to fans. Some see him as a gothic corner-hugger whose apathy ruins his character, OR the leader of the heroes who saved the world from Time Compression, saved his group of peers that were near to him, and had a bit of a personality change in then end for the better.

Just 2 off the top of my head heroes in the FF series that get a lot of love'n besides the obvious Sephiroth and Cloud
