Second Time:

Red Mage

Second time wasnt exactly hard mind you as i had 3 good damage dealers and the red mage helped out with w&b magic (duh)
 
I'm playing it at the moment and I'm using Black Mage, Warrior, White Mage and Red Mage. You can guess I really like using magic!
 
First time through I used Black Mage, White Mage and two warriors. Second time through I used White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage and Theif.
 
My first time through, I used the Warrior, Red Mage, Black Mage, and White Mage. I'm replaying now, and I've exchanged the Red Mage for a Monk. Never really saw the point of the Thief.
 
my first game I used 4 reds, easy as hell. my fav is playin with a solo character. kill off 3 and never revive them, 4x exp for it
 
I used a Warrior, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage. Simple. But the second time I wanted a challenge so I tried it with 4 monks... That was hard as hell.

i really think magic is too expensive and i only need white to heal, only got her for holy though.
 
*The first time i played my party consist of a fighter,white mage,red mage and black belt.i wasnt able to finish it cause of the nuisance white mage!

*so i tried this combination,2 fighters and 2 red mages,a combination of high power,high endurance,mid attack magic and healing! great party! :D
 
Warrior, RM, WM, BM

The warrior an RM bring good early power; the other mages are a bit of a bother, but on later bosses, attacks become virtually useless. (I would know. My party is lv. 99 with max HP/MP)
 
The party I went with (on all versions of Final Fantasy I) is: Fighter, Thief, Monk, Red Mage.

It is easy to beat the game with that party in the original and Final Fantasy Origins versions, but in the GBA and PSP versions, it was difficult.
 
I think that I got about 1/3 through the game, using:

Warrior
White Mage
Black Mage
Monk

It was fairly easy. Dia/Diara/Diaga made undead enemies absolute pussies, whereas usually they're a pain in the arse.
 
I used:

Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage

However me thinks the best combination is:

Warrior, Theif, White Mage, Black Mage
 
Warrior, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage

this always my party. i never change...
 
Warrior, Theif, Black Mage, and White Mage seem to be the image of the "classic" FF party. IMO, they're also the strongest party in the game, which is why I use them on every playthrough :D
 
I've played the game through many times and with many different parties. I think the best party I've played with is:

Fighter/Fighter/Red Mage/Red Mage

closely followed by

Fighter/Fighter/Fighter/Red Mage
