[RP] Children of Aether

(OOC: Also got a short poast going on. :gonk: )

She actually agreed to go out. This made Alyss feel a little relieved. However, she took note of the stammer that Lily gave out. It was obvious that she was a little nervous about it. What Lily didn’t know was that Alyss was more than prepared to ensure nothing happened to her. If anyone… or anything decided to give either of them a problem, Alyss was going to fry them on the spot. Lack of powers be damned.

Alyss walked over to the front door and opened it. She made sure she had her messenger bag on her shoulder as she did so. “I am going to need you to lead the way, of course,” Alyss smiled. “I am not sure where we are, and I have no idea where things are.” Holding the door for Lily as she stepped out she noted how bright it was outside. No one would try anything with the sun being out like that. They would have to be some kind of idiot. “Come along now, would you kindly?”

[OOC: We need our next plot point...and I may have just the thing :griin:
Also, witches are not entitled to the sweat on their brows :ahmed:]

Lily sighed, resigned to doing what Alyss wanted...for now. Eventually, Alyss would get tired of her and go her own way...she just needed someone to talk to right now, and since Lily was the one who had seen inside her soul, she was the best candidate at the moment. She'd want to go back to her Knight friend soon. She winced as she stepped out into the sunlight, acutely aware of how small she was - and how far away the shadows were (oddly, she found herself missing them) - and set off down the street with Alyss in tow.

Was she walking too quickly, or too slowly? Lily did not often walk in her neighbourhood; she often called a taxi to take her to work (that would be a bit far to walk, after all) and, after...things, London in general did not feel safe. She wondered if she should try moving up to Scotland, up in the middle of nowhere...that might suit her more. She mulled the idea over in her head as she moved down the street, letting her feet take her to where she wanted to go.

She had just the place in mind: a small teashop, just outside the market. It was small, out of way, and would give them a certain measure or privacy...plus the cake they served was home-made, and Lily was in the mood for some cake...and the strongest black coffee she could get her hands on.

Crimson
Fire Witch

The young woman laughed at Ardis trying to explain their 'relationship' to the waitress. She wondered why he was making it out to be such a big deal...perhaps he had a thing for her... this thought made her chuckle out loud to herself. A knight and a witch, what an odd couple. Eventually Ardis came and sat down at their table. He was the first to speak.

"So you care to elaborate on what you were saying earlier? Something about being in a crowd is safer for you, and while were on the subject what's with the trust thing. If you weren't willing to trust any of us I don't understand why you helped us in the first place. Regardless both of us need to think of something now, we have no idea if that Nature witch killed the others, if she did I think she will be coming after us next. Seeing what she could do with a tree I don't think we can safely run or hide anywhere. I intend to go look for Heath and that other girl, you're free to do what you want. If you don't tag along and we part ways after this I wish you well and good luck, even though our factions may be enemies I don't wanna see some one as young as you getting killed anytime soon."

She was a little overwhelmed with his questions and statements but she tried her best to answer them, given as much detail as she felt was needed.

"I like being in a crowd... if a witch ever wanted to attack me, they'd be less likely to do it in front of a larger amount of people... but after today, that Nature witch killing those two men in cold blood out in the open, I am not so sure my theory was all that correct...I am probably more safe on my own as i am in a crowd..."

Crimson took a sip of her Chai latte. It was delicious and creamy, this place always did the best hot drinks. She then licked her ice-cream. It was an odd couple...chai and ice-cream, just like a knight and a Witch, two complete opposites but Crimson was a bit of a strange girl, somehow it fit.

"And to answer your question about why I saved you all... it's because I am not a killer, Ardis. Just because I am a witch does not mean I am going to leave innocent people to die." she licked her ice-cream again. "Plus, I did it for my own selfish reasons as well. I could tell you were all against the nature witch, If I didn't save you she'd have kiled you and then would come after me. We were safer in a group at that moment."
She thought back to that scene and wondered what would have happened if she'd just left them there... the Nature witch wouldn't have even known what she looked like.. now she did... "Now I realise saving you all was a mistake. I have compromised my safety."

The girl finally finished both her drink and her ice-cream and smiled at the knight sitting before her. "Thank you for the ice-cream but I think this is were we bid eachother farewell. You have the knights on your side, so long as they don't know you have been hanging out with a witch. You are much safer than I... I will never fit with your kind and for that reason I must be on my way. Call me stupid or a coward if you like...I don't care."

Crimson got to her feet and nodded, her eyes showing sincere thanks and she turned around and left the cafe. She felt a little saddened being alone like this but her gut was telling her it was the right thing to do. She couldn't lead the Knight on, have him found out by his team mates and then banished or killed for breaking orders. This was definitely for the best.

[OOC: I can’t wait. :ryan: Also, a Witch chooses… a Knight obeys… :ahmed:]

It didn’t take very long to get to a small teashop. The shop in question seemed private enough, which was good, very good. At least one thing Alyss would never question was Lily’s sense of taste when it came to places to eat. “So, do you come here often?” Alyss asked, as she opened the door to hold it for Lily. As she opened the door, the smell hit her… it all smelled amazing. The tea, the coffee, and the cakes baking in the back… Alyss was prepared to eat the whole store.

Looking for a place to sit, she already mentally picked out a spot near the door. However, as she looked around, she noted the television. On it was a scene from the news. It appeared as if large plants started growing in a park somewhere. Knowing that Lily wouldn’t want to see it, Alyss had the television short out. Even from a distance, she could manage something that small. It was nice to be able to do small things like that.

If anything else started playing that news report, it too would find itself shorted out. Alyss wanted Lily to relax without fear of… anything. She wasn’t about to let a simple news report screw that up. Hoping that Lily didn’t see anything, she turned and said, “Please, take a seat and order whatever you would like.”

[OOC: SCABBY ON MY KNEE! :rage:
...Poppy is so saying that somewhen :wacky:]

"Every now and then..." Lily sighed, realising that she had just shown Alyss one of her favourite hiding places. In truth, she came here all the time at weekends. She had allowed her feet to guide her here subconsciously and, now that she was here, felt a pang of regret: it was likely the last time she would ever be here, since she would be forced to leave the country, with Poppy, Knights and who knew what else chasing her...

The waitress - a new one, Lily noticed with a sudden pang of fear - arrived to take their order, and Lily ordered the strongest black coffee they had, as well as a single slice of eccles cake, watching the young woman fearfully. What if she was a witch?

--

Poppy squirmed from where she sat, decidedly uncomfortable. The dress wasn't a very good fit; it was too tight in the wrong places, billowed out in others, and was practically see-through. How had that girl managed to wear such a thing? Poppy should probably have asked her. Still, it would do for now, until she found someone else with nicer clothes.

It had taken her very little time to bring the entire park under her complete control, and she was now making some fine-tune adjustments, strengthening the trees with the power of Light. See the Fire Witch try and burn those down. She wouldn't even be able to put a scorch mark in them. After all, she only had one element. Poppy had two.

She had regained some of her composure, yet was in a decidedly sulky mood. Her fun had been cut short, and killing these people wasn't particularly fun...they didn't fight back. Not a single one of them was worth keeping as a pet, either. Still, Poppy had decided on a new tactic: she would simply make so much of a mess that they had to come and see her. The Knights would no doubt already be on their way, although they would find themselves attempting to assault a fortress...one that continued to grow. Soon, she would be ready to begin expanding it to the city.

She rocked on the tree branch she sat upon thoughtfully. Had she killed all the people, or were there still some left? Maybe there were a few hiding in the grasses - now nearly ten feet in height and still growing, and razor sharp - waiting for her to find them? Then they could...play. But Poppy was not really in the mood for playing right now. She was quite tired, having turned a garden into a wood. No, it was naptime for now. Her sentries would alert her if anything special tried to enter her forest...just before they tore the intruder limb from limb, of course. Animals were very protective, after all.

OOC: Any idea what the Temple of the Grey Goddess would look like...I forgot/failed to ask/look up.

Aldra's plane touched down on a runway in London's Heathrow Airport in the early hours of the morning. He had come all the way from Berlin in Germany on a request for assistance in dealing with the witches in London. While Aldra has been to England before, it had been years and only on vacation.

Aldra would go through all the security checks and head to the Terminal exit to pick up his belongings. His suitcase contained all his clothes as well as his armor, the latter of which was a hassle to go through security back at Berlin-Tegel. But as long as it was there, it did not matter to him. Aldra's weapon however was too dangerous to carry on the airport and had to be transported on an earlier cargo flight to be delivered to the Main Temple in London.

Picking up his suitcase, the German knight left the terminal and hailed a taxi cab. Aldra wanted to pick up his weapons and any other equipment and be on his way, after all, he was less interested in the sights, and more focused on getting right to work.

A waitress had appeared and Lily had ordered some coffee and a slice of cake. There were so many things on the menu that Alyss wasn’t quite sure what she wanted. So, in order to play it safe, she simply ordered the same thing that Lily had gotten. Lily seemed a little shaken for some reason, but Alyss couldn’t pin point why she would feel that way. Seeing as how she was now sitting down, Alyss placed her hand to the side of her hand again and turned her ability to feel back on.

“I think,” Alyss said. “That I am going to have to stop messing with my brain like that soon. Who knows what all I can do to myself if I can turn off emotions and the ability to feel pain…” It did make her wonder. What more could she do to herself… to others if she continued plundering around in their brains like that? There were quite a lot of possibilities. She had experimented in the past on other people and found she could often persuade people to do things rather easily, and render them unconscious. However, if she was given the time… could she alter memories as well?

Just imagining the possibilities was entertaining. Alyss desperately wanted to try that, but she didn’t think she could go that far. However, it was worth a shot. To be safe, she would probably begin the experiments on herself at first, and then move on to other people. She had to be sure she did nothing damaging, after all.

The Waitress returned with both of their orders and placed them in front of the two witches. Alyss handed the waitress her debit card and sent her on her way. “This looks and smells amazing,” she said, taking a bite into the cake. “Oh my… this is really good.”

"Masturbation isn't categorized as a knightly thing." Tristana didn't even hesitate as she said this, and yet another phrase that probably wasn't appropriate had been released into the world.

"And...my sister." Suddenly, her hangover no longer seemed important. She hadn't directly looked for Poppy, or learned of her crimes since the deaths of her father and sister, which could only be her. But she knew that the girl was insane. Beyond redemption.

"And what have you learned?" She was suddenly serious, her cigarette between her thumb and a finger rather than in her mouth as she stared intently at Heath. "I hope that you've found SOMETHING out, or I'll start to think your Order is all talk and no action."

[OOC: Regular church, only much bigger, Galmski. Back rooms expanded to contain a barracks, training rooms, classrooms, etc. Practically a miniaturized castle.]

"Could you, maybe...turn off mine?" Lily asked, very tentatively. She was surprised to find that Alyss was shutting herself down - although she could have probably reached that conclusion had she thought about it, but thinking about things was the last thing Lily wanted to do right now - and at least she wasn't giving her a headache. But if she was successfully shutting all her emotions, all her pain off, then Lily wanted it done to her. Not to feel...it must be true bliss. Or...perhaps not. What would it be like, to not feel...anything? To be little more than a shell? The prospect scared her, yet fascinated her as well.

She picked up her cup, draining the coffee as though it were little than water. It scalded her mouth and burned her throat as it went down, and it would keep her awake for hours - she never had coffee this strong - but she didn't care. Right now, she needed some form of comfort, and if it was to come from drinking coffee so strong it would eventually numb her senses, so be it.

--

"You would be surprised, my love. Unlike regular men, we knights do it two-handed." Heath replied easily, unfazed. Tristana always said things without thinking, it was part of her...charm. Yes, perhaps it was best not to dwell on that particular line of thought. It could lead one of two ways. Neither way was particularly appropriate for the situation at hand.

"Oh, I found where she lived. Before she kicked me out of the room for breaking down the door, and then took two other witches captive, before vanishing through a black hole to who knows where. Oh, and she has an extensive collection of herbal teas that set my hair on end just looking at them."

Heath noted her sudden change of tone, and ignored it. Idle banter was good for the soul...and he wasn't letting her off easily, after her two-decade long absence. Souls bound together or not, there were a few ground rules in any relationship that must be followed by both parties. He was entitled to annoy her a little.

Could she turn off another person’s ability to feel? In theory, she probably could… but she still didn’t know the extent of that power. How far could she go before someone became a vegetable? Alyss shook her head apologetically. “I-I am sorry… but I am not sure just how far I can go. One slip up and everything could be over. Until I know the extent of it, until I know how far I can go, I would not feel comfortable using my abilities in that fashion on another human being.”

Taking a sip of her coffee, she smiled. “Besides, now that you have access to at least some of my abilities, you could always try it yourself. However, I believe you are fine th- …” Alyss stopped, realizing that Lily may not be comfortable with that, even if it was a complement. “Forgive me, I talk sometimes without thinking.”

Lily had downed her coffee rather quickly. In fact, it appeared that she downed it so quickly that it burned her. “So, any plans on where you will be going after all this is said and done? Friends should keep in touch, after all.”

Ardis just sat at the table beside himself now. He was confused as all hell and didn't know what to do. On one hand right now he wanted to chase after this girl know as Crimson, on the other hand she seemed to think that it was best to be alone in this situation. Sighing as he finished his drink and left enough money on the table for the order he cursed himself.

"What in hell do I think i'm doing here. Come on Ardis shes supposed to be the enemy, yes true but shes still someone who needs help. It doesn't matter that she a witch, shes a woman and you should help her. Damn things can never be simple can they. If they were would you be here right now."

Still having a fight with himself he chased after Crimson just barely able to catch up with her before he would have lost her. Catching his breath he started to speak a bit slowly at first.

"Look your wrong when you say I have the knights with me. Though we may all work together on small things, finding a friend in there to have your back, well that's a different thing. Also this next thing may offend you but I will apologize in advance for this. You are being stupid now, stupid in the fact that you think you have to face this problem alone. Believe it or not your not alone in this thing. I'm willing to help you on this but you have to trust me on this." Then a small smile appearing on his face "Sides the knights that we ran into think your some type of news reporter assistant. Also more important before i'm a knight I am still a person, and I can't turn my back on someone that needs help. With whats going on I think we will need all the help we can get against this Nature witch."

Offering a handout for a handshake he just asked one more question, "So what do you say, team up and see this through or not?"

Crimson
Fire Witch

Crimson didn't make it very far down the empty street before she was tracked down by the Knight she had only just left. She wondered why he was so hell bent on keeping her in his life.

"You just can't get enough of me..." she said to him as he caught up. Not bothering to stop her pace. She kept walking.

I'm willing to help you on this but you have to trust me on this."

She didn't particularly like being told she was stupid, she wondered why people kept insisting on calling her terrible names like Coward and Stupid and... idiotic... as she walked she tilted her head slightly so she was glancing at the man from the corner of her eye. "Perhaps I want to be alone? Perhaps I am trying to get rid of you because I don't like your company?" She was being harsh. But insulting her was not wise.

"So what do you say, team up and see this through or not?"

"Whatever..." She was going to head home, roaming through those sewers took them further than she thought, but now with the knight with her she wasn't quite sure she wanted to go there anymore, she didn't want this man to know where she lived.

Crimson walked on, allowing the man to follow or not. As she walked she heard a familiar voice. It was a man's.

"Oh, I found where she lived. Before she kicked me out of the room for breaking down the door, and then took two other witches captive, before vanishing through a black hole to who knows where. Oh, and she has an extensive collection of herbal teas that set my hair on end just looking at them."

Crimson quickly hid against the side of the building, peering into a small alley way and there stood Heath, that stupid knight, he was talking to a woman, she looked a lot older than Crimson... she had a Cigarette in hand and a bunch of butts around her feet, she was obviously a heavy smoker.

"Another witch?" She whispered to Ardis. Crimson didn't want to jump out at them... she didn't want to get into a situation like the one that got her into this mess in the first place... she wondered if she could just sneak past the alley and not get noticed.

~*~

(OOC) I left it open for Heath or Tristana to see/sense Crimson and Ardis there :)

[OOC: Tis Diar's turn to post, so I'll let him do it. xD]

Lily hid her disappointment by ordering another cup of coffee. Wouldn't feel comfortable? She used it on herself with no side effects, didn't she? It was strong enough for her to shrug off torture as though she had just scraped her knee or something - she had even laughed about it. She risked putting herself in a permanent coma just fine. Why wouldn't she use Lily as her guinea pig to perfect her abilities? Lily didn't care. She had asked for it. Wouldn't feel comfortable? No, she just didn't want to. Perhaps she enjoyed watching Lily suffer. Perhaps...

Alyss spoke again, and Lily considered the idea. The Horned King had said that they would each only receive a fraction of one another's powers...so, how much power would it take to play with her own head like that? Probably not much, since the brain's electrical signals couldn't be that powerful, but it would require control. Control Lily lacked. She couldn't even control her own powers, Alyss' would probably be a wild storm within her. Should she close her eyes and wish to silence her emotions? She'd probably fry her brain if she tried...

Then, something strange - and quite hurtful - occured. Alyss was about to compliment her - for some bizarre reason that Lily couldn't fathom - and then stopped herself, and apologized. Spoke without thinking? What did that mean? That she didn't mean the things she said? She was going to give Lily a compliment, but wouldn't have meant it, because she then realised that, in reality, Lily deserved nothing of the sort, and that perhaps her messing up her brain would be a good thing, because it would shut her up? Lily said nothing in response, staring down at her untouched cake. Suddenly, she wasn't very hungry at all.

"I don't know...somewhere, I guess. Somewhere quiet." she didn't say when she planned to go, of course. When everything was said and done? Not likely. As soon as the opportunity presented itself, Lily was leaving, never mind sitting and waiting around for Poppy to find her and turn her inside out with a tree, or another cactus. Friends? Was that what they were? Lily wasn't sure...but what wasn't she sure about? That she actually had a friend, or that she wanted one?

She drained her second cup in one go as well, and signalled for a third. She probably looked like some caffeine addict, but she was too preoccupied to care at this point. She needed to be alert, in case she was attacked...whilst she no longer suspected Alyss of attacking her - not outright, anyway - people out to kill Lily seemed to be drawn to her like a lodestone. She didn't intend to give them that chance....

I am such an idiot, Alyss thought. I have done nothing but make her more upset… Alyss was berating herself left and right in her mind. She wasn’t any good at this, not in the slightest. While Alyss had nothing but the best intentions in mind, she wasn’t doing a good job of showing it. Ever since they started speaking, Alyss wanted nothing more than to get Lily to open up, to smile… something. Yet for every effort Alyss put in, she felt as if she was doing much more harm than good. She was taking one step forward and three steps back.

Lily had ordered another cup of coffee, so Alyss did the same. Conversing to Alyss was often like a game of chess. For most people, she played a hard offense. She went in, took no prisoners, and walked away with no regrets. When speaking to Lily, she was trying to play a different tactic. Her tactic was to play it safe, calmly, and smoothly. In theory, it would work like a charm, and Alyss could get Lily to open up. However, in practice, Alyss was losing and she had no way of winning.

However, there were little details that Lily would give up. Such as how she wanted to go somewhere quiet. For most people it implied a need, or want to be alone. The way she moved was reserved and timid at times, yet at others… panicked. This, of course, completely contrasted with the way Alyss did things. A typical conversation with Alyss was usually her yelling at someone for messing things up. Which was now what Alyss was doing to herself in her head.

“Look… I am no good at this… at all really.” Alyss said. She was looking at the whole situation as a chess game… perhaps now was a good time to stop. If she couldn’t get Lily to open up, perhaps if she bared a piece of herself, she would make a connection that way. “For the past few years my conversations have been my yelling at my co-workers and underlings. I… meant what I said when I told you that I was not the nicest person in the world.”

Alyss took a sip of her coffee before she continued. “I have not had an actual conversation with someone I considered to be a good person in a long time. So… I am awkward… I do not know what I am doing.” She paused for a short moment as she scratched her head, “That is not to say that I am not enjoying the conversation… I do enjoy it. Yet, a part of me feels like I keep offending you. I do not mean to, of course.”

“I am just not very good at this…”, Alyss said, smiling somewhat nervously. “The last few conversations I was in before today consisted of me making people feel bad because they co- cannot do their jobs right. You should see them, really. They just go on and on and on about their business and they cannot get the simplest things done. It is abysmal.” Alyss blushed as she realized she was rambling. “M-my apologies, I tend to ramble when I get nervous.” Picking up her cup and taking another sip, she looked around before looking Lily in the eyes again. “What I had meant to say earlier, before I stopped, was that, personally, I do not think you need to change anything about yourself. You are fine the way you are… The world could benefit with more people like you in it.” That was the most genuine thing that Alyss had said in ages. She smiled as she thought about it. “I did not say it because I did not want you to think I was judging you or something. Sometimes, I tend to double guess myself.”

Lifting her cup, she noticed her hand was shaking a little. Was she really that nervous? Sure, it had been the first time she had laid herself out like that, but to actually warrant shaking? Alyss was more out of it than she thought… Perhaps this would be good for her as well. Downing the rest of her second coffee, she looked at Lily. This is the moment of truth, I suppose…

The taxi blazed through the London streets as Aldra looked out towards the streets. It was commonplace for witches to hide in largely urban areas, especially big cities like London. With a population of just over 8 million, unless their knights are already on the case it would be difficult to track down just 10 witches.

The drive was long and winding, the whole trek took at least an hour and a half to get to his destination, a Large Cathedral in the Bloomsbury district of London. Looking at the sights, Aldra had to take a mental note of all the areas he was driven through, to ensure that he would check these places when he came back.

Finally, the Knight reached the Cathedral, the Headquarters of the Order of the Grey Goddess' English-branch. Paying the taxi driver the money, Aldra exited the vehicle and looked up at the cathedral before entering in. Although he wasn't really dressed for the occasion, Aldra did bring his armor in. Yet he felt a little out of place after he walked in the church and saw a few gentlemen around him with their armor and weapons on. One of the men, most likely a senior member of the group spoke, "Welcome to England, Sir Aldra."

Aldra knelt down, placing his right arm on his chest. "Your weapons and equipment had arrived here last night, you're free to pick them up at your leisure."

"Thank you."
Aldra stood up and gave the knights a nod before heading to the back to pick up his war-hammer.

[OOC: Late post is late :gonk:
Also, Ringo, we're putting emos to shame. Alyss is upset that she's upset Lily, who is upset because she's upset Alyss, who is upset because she thinks she's upset Lily, who is upset because she's upset Alyss by leading her to think that she's been upset....]

Lily shifted guiltily in her seat, unable to meet Alyss' eyes. Great, now she'd upset her, on top of everything else. Each word she said was like a dagger, cutting into Lily's already tattered conscience. A good person? Enjoyable to talk to? How could she be any of that, when she thought only of herself? Alyss had seen her life and into her very soul, she must have seen the darkness (oh, wasn't that ironic? Perhaps the Horned King had been more than precise when He chose her) within her. It consumed Lily more eagerly, more completely, than any shadow ever could. How could see say these things, in all honesty, still knowing that? Lily couldn't figure it out, and she was far too frightened to ask...after all, how did one discuss a topic that transcended words themselves? And, if Alyss hadn't realised, then she didn't want to drive her off with the relevation...so, she was lying to her, a fact that made her feel only more guilty.

...yet she was pushing her away anyway. Why does this always happen?

She stared into her fresh cup of coffee, watching the miniature whirlpool within it slowly exhaust itself, wondering what she could say to make Alyss realise that this whole sorry situation was her fault, and that she would be better off if she got up, now, and left, getting as far away from Lily as she possible could.

"You don't need to apologize." she mumbled, still staring into her coffee, which had stopped swirling, "Everything is my fault. You shouldn't feel bad for my mistakes. This happens every time I...talk to someone. I'll-I'll finish my coffee, pay, and then I'll get out of your life forever. You shouldn't have to put up with this, on top of...everything else."

[OOC: NEVERENDING CIRCLE OF DISPAIR! :rage:]

Alyss was slowly starting to get at what was going on… Lily was withdrawing from Alyss because she believed everything was her fault. “But,” began Alyss, “what if I did not want you to leave?” Leaning back in her chair, she looked up at the ceiling and started thinking, her voice getting somewhat low as her own thinking got her into a trance. “Not to imply, of course, that I would ever dream of making you… I do not want to force anything upon you.”

“However, you are the first person that I have made a connection with since the day my Father died.” Alyss, still leaning back in her chair, looked over at Lily again. “You could have killed me on the spot, if you had wanted to. There would have been nothing that I could have done to stop you, either. Yet, you did not kill me… we shared names. Like it or not, we are connected, for better or for worse.” She picked up her coffee cup, only to realize that she had emptied it just a few seconds ago. Placing it back down, she smiled.

“With just the simple act of sharing names, you and I learned things about each other that most people would never have the chance of learning. All in all, we completely skipped most of the inane stuff that most people go though when making a connection with another human being.” Alyss laughed again, “what I am trying to say, without the rambling is; I enjoy your company… I enjoy having a friend. You are the first friend that I have… ever had, to be honest.”

The smile on Alyss face vanished as her voice lowered just a tad. “If you want to go, as I said, I will not stop you. But do you really want to just throw it all away?” Leaning forward in her chair, Alyss interlaced her fingers together as she waited for Lily’s response.

[OOC: Despair! :gasp:
Lily is opening up, though...slowly. This girl is such a nuisance. xD
Now, we just need DeeArr's Knight to come in and scare her off...and give me an excuse to post as Heath :rage:]

Lily looked at Alyss then, a quick sidelong glance, momentary fear entering her eyes. Would she try to stop Lily if she left? Would she simply allow her to walk out, if she chose to? For a moment, she was tempted to test the theory, to see if she was as good as her word...but what would that accomplish? If Alyss allowed her to leave, it would prove that she had never cared, and it would sever any connection between them...which, whilst would be better for the both of them, was not something Lily wanted...yet. If Alyss didn't allow her to leave...would that prove that she cared, or would that simply prove that she was no different from Poppy? Lily sat, rooted with fear and indecision, in her chair, which had suddenly become very uncomfortable.

She looked back down, staring at her hands instead. Her fingernails were making indentations in her palms.

"If you'd really seen into my heart, you wouldn't be saying those things." Lily mumbled then, sipping tentatively at her coffee and wincing as it stung her tongue, both hot and bitter. She set the cup down again as though it were poison, pushing it away from her. She wondered why she was suddenly noticing the flavour now, when she had already drunk two cups of the stuff...

In truth, even if she had wanted to, she could not have killed Alyss. There was no strength whatsoever in Lily; she couldn't control her own powers. She had been too afraid to get close enough to harm her. If she had left her there her father would have probably arrived in time to free her...or that Knight she had been with. Lily had let her down because it was the only thing she could have done to prolong her miserable life. The sharing had been an accident, and if anything, it had endangered them both, for the Horned King had not been pleased...so, all she had really done was put Alyss in a different, more perilous situation.

"Well...no. But..." Lily trailed off weakly, still not daring to look the other girl in the eye. She may think that she did, but she didn't want a friend like Lily. Lily was incapable of being a friend. She didn't deserve them, and Alyss could do better than a pathetic, wretched thing like her. Why couldn't she see that? Were Lily a more assertive, a better person than what she was, she would have screamed this in her face, before running out of the shop as fast as she could manage. As it was, she sat meekly in her chair, the acrid taste of the coffee and something far more bitter besides on her tongue, letting Alyss be drawn into a web that she never intended to spin, yet ended up doing so each time.

"...you're better off without me." she said finally, trying to inject some measure of finality into her tone and failing abysmally. She was shaking. She wasn't doing a very good job at explaining this...no, she was probably just making matters worse. That was, after all, all she was capable of.

[OOC: I feel so bad for her. :sad2:
Come on, Derpmud! :rage:]

Alyss smiled at Lily, a playful sort of tone in her voice. “You are not very good at this, dear,” Alyss said. Lily kept trying to push Alyss away, but it wasn’t because she didn’t like her… she was simply convinced that she wasn’t going to do Alyss any good. It was… unfortunate, but Alyss wasn’t going to give up just yet. She was going to show Lily that there were things to look forward to and that not everything was as bad as she was making it out to be… even if it killed her. “Do bear into mind, Lily… you saw into my heart as well. You know what I have done… you saw what I did to my Mother. No one is perfect.”

“You cannot beat yourself up; if you do you will never find happiness. That is a lesson I learned the hard way… You are smarter than that, I know it. If you were not, I would not be speaking to you right now.” Alyss was simply speaking what she thought to be the truth. If they hadn’t have made that connection, Alyss would have thanked her and left as soon as she could walk. However, things didn’t turn out that way… they made a connection, and Alyss wasn’t going to let it go to waste. Lily was a smart girl… surely she would listen to reason?

Taking a small piece of paper out of her messenger bag, she wrote her address and phone number on it and passed it along the table to Lily. “If you do decide to leave, you can find me there. You can call or visit anytime you would like. Please understand no on- correction: I am not out to harm you.”

OOC: Short post...my apologies

After retrieving the war hammer, Aldra bowed to his superiors and left the cathedral to begin his mission. Walking through the streets of London, Aldra wondered what he was facing, which witch holds witch power, get to know them, and how to play it to his advantage. Since he was an Earth Knight, Aldra knew that he would have a slight advantage over Witches that were of the Fire or of the Lightning Element, yet would be at a disadvantage against the Witch of the Air.

Nonetheless, this was going to be an interesting experience for him, and as he moved down he saw a man and a woman looking down an alleyway, acting as if they were spying on them. "Now who could they be spying on, I wonder..." Aldra thought as he walked up closer to the pair. The closest to him was a female red-head, while the other individual was a brown haired male wearing some odd-looking clothing.

Walking up to the pair, Aldra was on the ready. His left hand holding on to his war-hammer in case things went sour, the German knight said, "Now, now... what are you two doing acting all suspicious, huh?"
