"You may rise."

Never rose to look at the boy. The prince was tall and his pointed ears almost made Never think of Elves.
"Judging from your attire, you most likely have traveled wide and far. Might I say welcome to Erusea, if it were not for the fact that we are in dire straights."

"Thank you."
Never spoke politely "Does this mean you need my help? I have traveled from a place far away. I'll help any who needs it!"

"Might I ask to know what your name is?"

"My names Never Grasley your highness." Never spoke pointing to his hood. "And this is my mouse Cheep."

The mouse gazed questionably at the prince before letting out a few squeaks of welcome. The kingdom of Erusea already felt like a new adventure to Never. He couldn't wait to see what this place would have in store for him. "We're both at your service if you require it."

OOC: Timeskip begins after this post, Rasmorya, you are cleared to post again. Oli will get his Timeskip after my next post.

Mary and Mtiette:

"My room is on the third door to the right."
Mtiette responded to Mary's question.

"Alright, let's go."

Mary and Mtiette brought their new-found, yet unconscious friend to Mtiette's room. The two women laid Chloe onto the bed, her wings sprawling off onto the floor as well.

"Are you sure it's okay for her to sleep here?"

"I do not mind. It is a good service to do in the name of the church."

Mary closed her eyes to think for a moment "Well, alright...you have a good night sleep."

"Good night."

Mary walked off down the hall and officially signed in to the inn. The innkeeper gave her a key to a room on the opposite side of the inn. Opening the door, she saw a clean room. At least the inn was relatively clean enough. She took off her beret and went straight to sleep on her bed.

----

"My names Never Grasley your highness. And this is my mouse Cheep. We're both at your service if you require it."

"Well, it is nice to meet you Never and your....pet. Right now, we do need as much help as we can. An enemy, a rival of my father the King, has control up land northwest from this town. He seeks to gain the crown my father, even though our laws do not allow him the right to be king."

"Knowing Aurelius, he most likely has brought an army to begin his invasion."

"I apologize for not introducing my friend. He is David Bruis of Khesed."

"A pleasure to meet you, Never."

"Will you help us protect our country, Never?"

Vaguely, she seemed to recall having been carried somewhere, before being tossed onto something soft. It was comfortable - so comfortable, like home. Her sleep was a dreamless one, though early the next morning, she woke up with a start. Her head was throbbing violently, but even more violent was the convulsions in her throat.

Running straight for the window, she didn't hesitate to vomit. As soon as she was done, she fell to her knees, very much tired out - and hurting in the head. It didn't help to have a nauseatingly sour taste in the mouth. She quickly went to the toilet and started washing up, and recollecting the events from the day before.

Which called to mind the fact that Mary or Mtiette, or both of them, must have been the ones to help bring her here. Innately grateful, she hurriedly began packing her things and left the room. It was still very early in the morning. The sky was still dark, though the first few rays have begun to streak across the horizons.

Chloe quickly paid the innkeeper, before hanging around at the entrance. It wouldn't be polite to leave without first thanking her 'benefactors' in a different sense.

Emmerian Faction:

Aurelius, The Black Prince stood outside, decked in his trademark Black Armor. His hand on his undrawn great sword, Anhyrne, he looked out to the town. Today he, his father and his men would head south to meet the Erusean Army in battle.

"I see you are awake."

"Father..."
The Black Prince turned towards his father, the King. He too was decked in Armor, albeit all white compared to his son's black. He also wore a blue cape, the colors of his kingdom.

"It's about that archer, is it not?"

"Indeed it is. I feel like, I'm in love with her, but I don't know if she feels the same way about me..."

----
Mary:

Mary looked at the mirror as she brushed her hair. It was weird, getting herself ready to meet with the troops. On the dressing table was a letter from Mtiette saying that she was going to head back to the local cathedral in the neighboring Duchy of Lambert.

Putting on her Green Beret, Mary took her Dagger, her Longbow and her Quiver and left the room. She wondered how Chloe was feeling, and after paying the innkeeper, and left the inn only to find Chloe by the entrance.

"Feeling better, I suppose?" Mary said to the mercenary.

Mtiette had woken very early. It was barely light, but she was wide awake. Quietly, she unplucked her sword from the ground and backed up her little belongings. The girl called Chloe still slept like a baby. With a slight smile, Mtiette pushed open the door and went down the stairs to settle her payments. With that done, all that was left was to travel to the local Sanctus Church, help those there and move on to the next. She had a feeling that the surrounding area is where she would be for a while, with the Emmerian fleet and army nearby, this area was highly possible to be turned into a battlefield.

"Good morning," greeted Chloe as she smiled sheepishly at Mary. "Sorry. I certainly overdid it with the beer yesterday."

Her wings flapped about uncomfortably as she gestured to change the subject.

"But it's a new day, ha ha! I guess since there's no job for me yesterday, I suppose I'll have to go look for one elsewhere," She muttered.

OOC: Time to give this RP a wake up.

Mary:

"Good morning, Sorry. I certainly overdid it with the beer yesterday."

"It's no problem really." Mary smiled a bit as Chloe tried to change the subject. She was obviously uncomfortable about the topic, from the way she was flapping her wings.

"But it's a new day, ha ha! I guess since there's no job for me yesterday, I suppose I'll have to go look for one elsewhere,"

Mary thought about it for a moment. "Maybe I can help her with that too..."

She finally said, "Maybe I can get you a job. Come with me, I can arrange a meeting with the King, he is currently residing in a manor not far from here."

(OOC: Sorry for the short post. There's nothing else to do until time fasts forwards.)

"I'll gladly help protect your country!"
Never said with another bow.

He had found it: His duty to fufill in this world was to protect this prince and his country from the evils lurking about the world. This would be just one of the many deeds he would have to do. Grasping a giant sword from underneath his purple cloak as a vow to carry out his duty. "Cheepurs!" went the mouse on Never's shoulder who was also happy to help.

Mary: (Timeskip)

Mary took Chloe to see King Aurelius, who was already gathering their troops to move southwards towards Bordeu. In sight, there was the King and his son, who were already riding on chocobo.

"Sire, I apologize for being late." She said, for which the King responded, "No, you're actually early." Mary looked over to the Black Prince, and she blushed. "Who's your friend?"

"Oh, this is Chloe, she is a Pheonician mercenary looking for a job."

"Ah, a Pheonician!" the King said, he remembered his father having a Pheonician friend as his loyal guard and advisor, one trained in the eastern arts.

"Hmm, well we can use a scout for our army. Check on enemy movements and react accordingly."

"Indeed, we need someone to be our eyes and ears. If you're willing to accept our offer, we will pay you handsomely. Will you be willing to accept our offer?"

----

OOC: Oli, do you want me to do a timeskip after your next post or do it right away?

Valentin:

"I'll gladly help protect your country!"

"Thank you, Never. You are welcome to stay with us for the night, tomorrow we will be back on the move. You make take the time to explore the town if you wish."

"As for me, I will be turning in early for the night." David stood up and left for his room, leaving the Erusean prince and Never in the Main Hall.

Mtiette had finally trudged her way up the hill towards the Church complex that sat atop the peninsula cliff, though Church complex seemed off, with it looking more like a castle. Its towering bell spire was almost like a light house and the grounds span all the way from the tip of the cliff till almost 3/4 way down the gentle slope of the peninsula. By picking this position, the first floor of the furthest back buildings were on a much higher elevation than those near the entrance. Whatever the case, Mtiette was glad that she reached her waypoint.

Knock Knock knock.

Her gauntlet made a rather resounding noise on the large double gate. As if summoned, the novice that was today's door person poked her head over the parapet wall and looked down at Mtiette.

Hail! Who is it that is knocking on our gate?

Hail Sister. I am
Chevaleresse Lady Mtiette Faraway from the Basilica of St Jeanne D'Arc (couldnt help it. was playing the game). I have come to request shelter and to seek audience with the local Head Sister.

The small sister stumbled as she heard Mtiette's answer. The Chevakeresse hinted at her being a knight and the Lady was for those that were highly ordained in the Church. She knew that this Lady Faraway was a Holy Paladin for the Basilica of St Jeanne D'Arc was the main hub for the Sanctus Church and not many had such titles.. For the sisters in the Sanctus Order, Paladins were akin to princes and idols. She just had to be the one that greeted her. As she rounded the stairs, the other door minders were beginning to open the gate.

I'll take her to the Sister!

Ehhhh? No, ill do it!

Mtiette could hear their squabbles as the gates opened and ignored the excitement of the youths.

Alright. Settle. Someone, take me to the Sister.

Ill do it! Let's go!.

The small girl who was at the parapet took Mtiette's hand and pulled her along. A few others tailed behind as well. Through the maze of corridors and walkways as well as buildings and gardens, Mtiette finally arrived at the Head Sister's quarters... along with a sizey group of novices, chittering like chipmunks. They all went silent however, when a rather stern, but youthful looking Sister slammed open the door.

Quiet! What is with this noise? What are you all doing gathered here?

Ah! Um.,. Sister Agnes... Sister Faraway has asked to see you...

Sister Agnes scanned the tall individual in front of her and noted the Pheonician wings before she caught sight of the small paladin pendant that Mtiette slipped out discreetly.

Very well. All of you back to your duties. Leave Sister Faraway and I alone. Now.

In an instant, all the novices dispersed and before long, there was no one besides themselves at the door.

Come inside Sister, where it is more private.

Sister Agnes took them to a room that had an ocean view. The afternoon sun shone in through the window in which Sister Agnes took a seat in front of it.

Have a seat. So, what brings a Holy Paladin to our Church, Sister Faraway?

It would be foolish to refuse this offer. That, and it would be 'utter stupidity', in Chloe's own words. The word 'handsome', when paired with 'pay' in a sentence always resonated deeply in the young Phoenician's mind. In addition to that, a scouting job would mean less contact with enemy forces, further implying less battles that she had to engage in.

All in all, a grand opportunity for Chloe.

"Of course!" Chloe was smiling cheerfully as she nodded her head vigorously. "I'll accept that offer. Just give me a place to check out, and I'll be right there and back with the details."

Have a seat. So, what brings a Holy Paladin to our Church, Sister Faraway?

Straight to business is the way Mtiette liked it. Small talk can come later.

As you know, Emmeria is about to go to war in this area. I myself was just at the town and saw the cogs and galley that lined the docks. Headquarters sent me here to reinforce the Church. After all, we take in all wounded and those who seek shelter. We do not know how either side will react when taking in these people, so i am here to ensure that the Church is safe.

War was nasty business. Mtiette had heard of monasteries of other orders being sacked and worse... raped and pillaged by battle drunk warriors, whether that be the invader or defenders. Armies sometimes saw to it that sheltering wounded enemies as a sign of treason and Mtiette had to make sure that did not happen here.

Executive order has been passed around that should the lives of those within this walls become threatened, we will fight. I am here to make sure that as little as the other sisters fight.

Ah... war... how sad... The Sisters are all prepared for this event. Medical supplies have been gathered as is with the food and water. God forbid, should it come to it, we can withstand a siege. But i do hope that such savagery will not occur... Since you will be staying with us for a while, let me organise a room for you. In this tower building perhaps?

No, I think it would be more beneficial should i be housed near the main altar in the middle. There, i can respond to anywhere faster.

Very well. The sister outside will lead you to a room

Mtiette bowed her head and exited. Inside, Sister Agnes rubbed the bridge of her nose. Indeed, sending a Holy Paladin meant that the Church did not have confidence in the civility of the war.

A sad time indeed....

Mary/Emmerian Faction:

"Of course! I'll accept that offer. Just give me a place to check out, and I'll be right there and back with the details."

"Excellent."
The King spoke with a smile on his face. "Our knights and longbowmen will be marching westward towards the Vasconian Capital of Bordeu at the top of the hour, and we fear that this would give the opportunity for our adversaries to intercept us. There had been several incursions into our country by Chevauchèe raids into our lands."

Prince Aurelius added, "We believe the enemy will be coming in from it's towns from the south and west of the capital. So we need someone to scout their movements. That's why we need you. We want you to scout out the army coming from the west end of the capital. Relay their movements and return to me at Bordeu."

----
Valentin/Erusean Faction: (Timeskip)

The Prince woke early and got on his chocobo. Today, the Erusean Army would move forward to retake Vasconia from the Emmerians. He took up waiting position on a hill outside the town of Cherente, west of the Capital of Bordeu. It's only a matter of time before they could link up with the army from the south and lay siege to Bordeu.

"We believe the enemy will be coming in from it's towns from the south and west of the capital. So we need someone to scout their movements. That's why we need you. We want you to scout out the army coming from the west end of the capital. Relay their movements and return to me at Bordeu."

These words were still fresh on Chloe's mind as she soared high above the clouds. She didn't take long to depart on her mission, largely due to the excitement welled up in her petite frame. That, and it was clearly a better move to seek out trouble before it sought them...

... And trouble certainly was what she found. Seeing a mass of black, she quickly flew down lower, startled by the sheer numbers. It was literally an army; the force was so huge that they all seemed to be one blob of paint on the fields. Greatly disturbed by this sight, Chloe quickly circled about, making a mental note of their positions.

This was the south, as per the Prince's predictions. Moving westwards, she saw the greatness of the Prince's foresight first-hand.

"Best return quick," She gasped, before making a sharp turn, and breaking back into the clouds, en route to Bordeu.

Mtiette stood atop a hill mound, scanning the horizons in all direction. There was a slight wind that sent the blades of grass swaying and brought about the smell of flowers that grew abundant in the area. It was actually rather peaceful and soothing where she stood. For all intent and purposes, Mtiette wouldn't mind just dropping to her back and gaze at the sky with a piece of grass in her mouth. Unfortunately, the line of refugees that trailed like ants several hundred meters away meant that this was not possible. Sanctus nuns and Acolytes helped with those trying to run to the Monastery Keep where they had come from. Scout reports showed that both Emmeria and Erusia were gearing for battle and where they were right now was right in the middle of the collision path. Her Acolytes were more than capable of handling themselves on the battlefield, given that they were mere steps from full knighthood. However, the medical nuns and the elderly and children weren't going to fair well.

Lady Mtiette! We are making good progress. We should be able to just make it out of the area before the time we estimate that they clash.

Good. Continue to lead them out. Out here in the open, they'll be sitting ducks for archers or cavalry.

Yes Lady Mtiette. I'll get back to it

Even though they have time, only God knew how it would turn out. Would they safely flee the area or would a preemptive strike throw them straight into the middle of the fray?

Erusean Army:

The Erusean Army heading northwards towards Bordeu was continuing their march through the plains. Led by the Khesedi pretender, David of Bruis, he and his friends' generals were to launch the opening assault on the fortified Ducal Capital, while the Prince, already waiting from the west, would flank around and attack the enemy from behind laying siege to the city until its eventual surrender. The combined army was small, around 7,000 knights and Infantry, but it would do the job before the Emmerian Army arrived in earnest.

----
Emmerian Faction:

Mary was awaiting news from Chloe on the presence of Erusean Royal Army. Outside of the 1500 Militiamen within the city, there were roughly another 5,000 more men, her included that came to Bordeu's defense. There were rumors that another group of men, about 12,000 were to be arriving, but even then, it wold take 2 days to get from the coast to Bordeu. They would be on their own until then.

(OOC: This is to describe what the current situation is for the two armies, I will do this before any battle to show what the strategic plan is and show how much manpower each faction has. How the battle plays out will be not only be on my hands but on all involved.)

The Phoenician was in a state of frenzy, and searching desperately for Mary. Fortunately for her, the latter's position in the army appeared to be significant enough for her to obtain clear directions. In only a brief moment after her landing in Bordeu, she was with Mary, reporting on the situation.

"The Prince was correct," She huffed, catching her breath as she quickly added. "There's not much time left."

She panted heavily, a dark expression etched on her face. She was trembling slightly, shaken by the sheer numbers. What terrified her further was the fact that this was the army she would have to deal with; Chloe may have had some experience in battle as a mercenary, but the heat of battle was never something she withstood with the professionalism she dreamed of when she left home.

Sighing, she clenched her fists, trying to calm herself.

Emmerian Army:

As Mary was talking with a few archers, she saw Chloe frantically coming towards her. "Chloe? What's wrong?"

"The Prince was correct, There's not much time left."

Mary noticed the Pheonician mercenary was trembling, out of breath having to get there. It must mean that the Erusean Army was on it's way there. With nothing to go on but rumors of reinforcements, the Eruseans look to have the advantage in this battle.

The archer placed her hand on Chloe's shoulder, "Do not worry. The battle will be ours soon enough." Mary smiled reassuringly. "As long as we have our archers, their knights will fall from their mounts with our arrows."

One of the archers said to Mary, "The Prince has left with a group of knights, they're moving to engage the Eruseans to the West. The King is ready to send his knights to engage the army heading towards us." Mary responded "Alright, our archers will be ready for him soon."

Turning towards Chloe, she said, "Chloe, I want to make a request that you stay by my side. Even though Archers are good at range, some of us aren't so well suited for close combat, if that is okay with you?"

----
Erusean Army:

As the Erusean Army was being led into Bordeu, they encountered a small village, with people streaming away from the area. David cursed at them, but ordered his men to stay their blades. After all, it would not be chivalrous to attack the innocent, even at times of war.

A Felidian scout rode up to the Khesedi pretender, saying, "Lord David, we've managed to identify the group leading the townspeople out. It's from the Sanctus Order."

David stroked his brow as he thought, "So the Monastic Order seeks to protect the people...it doesn't matter. The Gracemerians will learn their place soon enough."

Lady Mtiette! LADY MTIETTE! We have trouble!

I am well aware of it Acolyte. Erusean forces converging am i right?

The young nun huffed as she managed to run up the mound and dropped at Mtiette's feet.

Ye... Yes. That is correct. They have stayed their blades but this....

Area will become a battlefield? I am also aware of that.

It was a bad case scenario. Half evacuated, they still needed time for the refugees to flee far enough to avoid getting potentially swept into the battle. If the Erusean army was already close by, then the Emmerian forces shouldn't be too far off.

Alright. Get me the all the veteran fighters, leaving only a barebone command to direct the civilians. The rest, we will be the rear guard for the refugees. Concentrate the Acolytes in a 90 degree wedge formation. and fall back at a lower pace. If we need to engage, we engage as far as we can from the group. If we fight here, even if we flee, they would not be able to catch them. Go!

Yes Ma'am.

Watching the Acolyte run back down, Mtiette felt a bit sick. The Order's presence was small of only a hundred in total. Although they had Shield soldiers who concentrated on defense, archers also supplemented them. However, number outweighs any degree of skills. She'd ahve to go and be in the thick of it.

And tell Rhodes that she is in charge when i am absent. Tell her to make sure she gets the Refugees back.

The nun stopped stunned for a second. She knew that this was a highly suicidal mission, but with a quivering lower lip, she nodded before running off to Rhodes.

Chloe returned an affirmative nod, but what was running through her mind were curses. She was a gunner, and while it does allow for close range battling, she didn't believe in her accuracy at point blank range enough to think she may not accidentally kill her own allies. Still, seeing how Mary seemed to have placed her trust in Chloe, the Phoenician merely affirmed her wishes, praying very hard that things will not go too badly for herself.

Her mind begins to wander to her life, and how she had been preparing for this moment. When she left home, her foremost intent was to bear witness to a battle in first-person; she didn't want to simply 'hear of it' from someone. Right here and then, she would soon be led down to a battlefield, where she would be immersed in the chaos of war.

Adrenaline surged through her body as she followed Mary's lead, her imagination clouding her focus on reality.

Focus, Chloe. Focus.

Relentlessly repeating that thought in her mind, she braced herself for battle as she walked along with Mary.
