(RP) SFR: La Guerre de Cent Ans: Redux

Erusean Faction:

David told to the knights to hold position while three of their own meet with the Acolytes of the Sanctus Order. The fact that these troopers are interfering with the march to Bordeu was threatening to put the plan in jepoardy, but the King's and Dauphin's insistence in honor and chivalry meant that he would possibly be hanged for unchivalrous behavior, not that it would matter, he would rather watch the world burn to get his kingdom back.

Riding down with his men. The Khesedi Pretender met the person in charge on the field, saying. "If you are planning on evacuating these people. Then you best do so quickly. Once the Emmerians come we will not be showing any quarter in this battle, and I doubt they will either." In all honesty, David had to force himself to say this. But it was true after all, once the battle begins, whether they are wielding a sword, or a bow, or nothing at all, blood will be spilled.

----
Emmerian Faction:

Mary and her archers made their rendezvous with King Aurelius on the outskirts of Bordeu. While his some headed west to combat the enemy, the King himself will be leading the army to a small town near the ducal capital. Where he expects to meet the advancing Erusean army on the field. With the Black Prince's intuition and Chloe's reconnaissance to go on, it's best to make such a preemptive strike.

The army began their march, leaving the city to it's defenders as the King led his armies south to meet the enemy.

Mary walking with Chloe, noticed that she was thinking about something. Mary spoke, "This is your first battle?" Whether or not this was or not, Mary said "I know this is my first though."

Mtiette narrowed her eyes as her brow knitted a bit closer. Truly, it was as sad as it was possible. Blind, unaltered fighting. No hands barred, see all, kill all. She could feel her heart rising in anger, but kept herself from showing it. Her fist shook slightly as it gripped onto the pommel of her sword, rattling the blade ever so slightly against its sheath. It took a good deal of self control to be civil. What she said was civil, but her voice was all but cold.

Thank you for your prior warning. We will move with post haste. Good day gentlemen.

Swiftly performing an about turn, Mtiette marched straight down the hill, leaving the messengers t their own device. There were more pressing matters to deal with. That very comment showed that these men intend to be beasts, rather than civil men. As a result, the civilians come first.

Girls, gather. It seems that both armies intend to be uncivilised and beasts. This appears to be a no quarter battle. We will fall back as much as possible. If the fields are where they will engage, then the villagers will be just over the hills on the edge of the battlefield. We will hold the base, just in case either army turn off and head in this direction. If all goes well, no one will engage us for the duration we guard their rear and we can flee without contact. Worst case is they go straight for us and by God's will, we shield the refugees from them. Come. Let us eat our final meal and perform our last rites.

It was a solemn thing, to go into battle. They were nuns after all, but it was best to prep up and be ready for the worst.

Mary's words surprised Chloe.

Considering how the former is apparently a close aide of the Prince, Chloe had imagined that the archer would have been a veteran. How else would a lowly commoner make her way to the sides of royalty? This prompted Chloe to wonder about Mary - is she some royalty as well? Or is she really a commoner, but someone the Prince likes?

Bearing an amused smile, Chloe re-focused on the conversation at hand,"Y-yes. Eh, no. This isn't my first battle, if you count the larger-scale mercenary missions. It is the first war battle I've participated in though."

Her questions about Mary faded into the depths of her mind as she began to worry about the real matters at hand. How will this war turn out? Granted, this is merely one battle out of the many that will be fought over the course of the war, but if she is to become one of the casualties, there will not be much of war left to bear witness to.

Filled with trepidation, Chloe is starting to feel her steps becoming heavier as she walked alongside the archer. Hesitation wasted no time gnawing at her apparent courage, and fear was sooner at her heart gripping it with its very own claws.

"I... I'm scared."

It was an understatement, and the tone itself was proof of that. Still keeping up her brave front, she grinned,"We'll make it though."

Erusean Army:

Thank you for your prior warning. We will move with post haste. Good day gentlemen.

David led his horse around, turning so that David was now facing away from the Monastic Pheonician Knight.

"Hmph, good luck."
David said in a serious, nonchalant tone as he rode off to meet his men.

The battle of Bordeu's Crossing was about to begin soon.

Emmerian Army:

"Y-yes. Eh, no. This isn't my first battle, if you count the larger-scale mercenary missions. It is the first war battle I've participated in though."

It was nice to know that Chloe had seen something close to a battle before. Although Mary was a noble, and she had seen war before back home in Emmeria, (having witnessed the closing stages of the Emmerian unification wars) she never did take part in a battle until now, by the request of the Prince.

To be honest, she was worried about what was going to happen. they were going into battle, a few of them never seeing war before. Even though the King and the Prince continually say that the Archers would revolutionize the way war is fought, would it even be possible?

"I... I'm scared. We'll make it though."

"I know we will." Mary said continuing her march.

The army had finally reached a field, nearby a small village. Apparently, there were two groups, one apparently retreating from the field, and another lying in wait. The King looked out into the fields, and pointed out. "There is our enemy. Archers move up front and begin firing as soon as you come into formation."

Mary heard the cue and moved with the rest of the archers in front of the group. Once they enter formation it would be time to start raining arrows on the enemy.

This is it - the moment she had been waiting for.

Right there she is, amidst a war party, standing at the ready for the masses that would soon bear down on them like storm clouds. It will be a raging thunderstorm, and the clash of metal against metal will be like the cackle of thunder, and the cries of dying men would be the wailing wind.

That's the rosier side, Chloe couldn't help but note.

Indeed, all that was more apt for literature than a personal experience. Chloe was starting to have second thoughts about her goals. Granted, this would be a life-changing experience, but will being part of a battle really be worth as much as she think it would?

Producing her weapon from its holsters, she held them by her sides, gazing down its' barrels as she reminisced about the last battle she had.

She did have battle experience, if you consider being horrified and losing control for half the battle as 'experience'. In a sense, it was, though the prospects were starting to look less bright as she waited anxiously for the first signs of hostiles.

OOC: Alright, to be fair, since you guys are coming in with over thousands of troops each side, and i intend for the Church to make a presence rather than just managing to flee the battle, I made the Acolyte warriors with her a bit OP. Considering there is only 55 of them, i think its reasonable for them to be able to survive the midst of the battle for a few minutes against the grunts of your army. Is that okay with you Kevin?

Mtiette's heart soothed a bit as she saw the trail of civilians hurry over the hills behind her. It was hills, then a flat plain, the small mound on which she and her Acolytes now stood on, then another field with smaller hill mounds here and there. These did mean that archers would have slight advantages and there were blind spots in which the Church Knights could not see, but it didn't matter. Just a bit more longer, until the civilians disappeared behind the rear most hills, and they will be out of here. In all actuality, Mtiette saw that the battle was going to occur on the other half the field rather than on their side of the field. It meant that unless either army purposefully aimed to attack them, they wouldn't be swept into the conflict.

Secondary rear guard. Fall back. I and the first platoon will remain as the front line defense. It seems we should be alright.

The shields woman and archers nodded and began double timing it on foot back to the convoy. All that was left was Mtiette's hand picked First Platoon. As much as she would like to be humble, these woman were a step above the average joe of both side armies, chosen from the fortress like Barthesian Church. Anything less than an officer shouldn't be able to give them much trouble. Not that they intend to get into any trouble.

Oh no.... i spoke way too fast.....

From behind a hill near the center of the field was a few children, most likely orphans part of the orphanage which were in the convoy. Obviously, they were playing amongst the hay bales and stacks that were around the hill.

Acolytes, ready yourself! We need to get to those children!

Had they brought mounts, it might have been possible to reach and extract the children before the main army clashed, but on foot, there were little chances. Only thing they could count on was a small, elite force needle inserting straight for the children and pulling out within minutes. Sure they might engage with some of the soldiers, but with the surprise attack, there shouldn't be too much problem.

Go!

Leading the charge, Mtiette would have rather soared on her wings and swoop the children herself, but there were too many of them. A return trip would be suicidal with that many archers. Hay were good arrow stoppers, so Mtiette just hoped the bales and stack would protect the children from the initial barrages of arrows from the Emmerian side.

OOC: Fair enough Tipsy. Besides, warfare isn't always about the quantity, but the quality of troops in battle. If I can assume correctly, they should cause some decent casualties against both sides if necessary.

Also, due to my overextension, I fear my RP quality is starting to suffer for it.

IC: With the troops in position, the Emmerian Army ready their archers. With a swing of his sword, the King said, "FIRE" and the archers unleashed their first wave of arrows up into the air.

David of Bruis ordered his force. "Charge men!!! Destroy their archers, Kill their king and anyone who stand in our way!" The Erusean knights began the charge, headlong into battle to meet their Emmerian equivalents in battle. The arrows that were shot up into the air were starting to fall down, heading in the direction of the Erusean troops heading into the haybales. Unfortunately, the Emmerians were too far off and most were probably unable to see the children playing in the field. Even if the arrows were to protect the child, it would be a miracle to get them safely out of the battlefield.

The war cries didn't take long to become a ubiquitous part of the battle field. As the armies began their conflict, Chloe knew there was only one other thing she could do - fight. She peered over to Mary, looking for a sense of relief from her hesitation, but she was everything but undecided. Normally, that would have been a great morale booster, but for Chloe, it only made her more nervous.

Being a Phoenician meant flight was possible; it was possible for her to escape the battle, ultimately, with only the issue of being marked a traitor to consider. Truth be told, those so-called 'battles' that she had fought in, there was only one particularly easy one that she did not escape from.

As much as she felt like revealing that to Mary now, Chloe fired off her pistols as she realized there was no longer time for a tête-à-tête.

OOC: The front lines fighting yet? If not, ill edit, but just to speed things along

The nuns made good time on foot. The arrows fell just over the bales, with a few slamming into the dry grass stacks. Each arrow that descended in that area brought a surging feeling from Mtiette's stomach, fearing the worse for the children. By now, both armies front most troops have begun to clash. The stack was still to the side of the battlefield, but enough men had gathered around that hill to make the fighting heavy.

As their leader, Mtiette was and always have to be, the first to draw blood. Althea (her spear) found its mark on the chest of an Erusean footmen that has just chopped down his Emmerian counterpart before turning his blade on the Paladin. The power behind Mtiette's thrust took the leather armoured man straight off his feet before he was flung off the end of the spear.

Ladies! Acute wedge formation, behind me! We will pierce deep, extract the children, then retreat.

Ha! Yes Ma'am

Nix out, Mtiette began to wade through the thick of the battle, cutting down a path for her team to get through like a hammered nail. In their current formation, each member fought off those to their side, with their rear facing the other side of the wedge. As long as the tip could deal with the 270 degree in front of her, the formation would move. The faster the frontal person moved, the faster the formation drove further in. Within seconds of puncturing the flank of the battlefield, Mtiette's group was 3/4 way towards the hay stack hill. The element of surprise was with them, making entry the easiest part. Exiting once getting the children would be trickier. The Acolytes hacked away at those that got close. Their impeccable teamwork and quality of fighting skills kept them alive where those lesser would have fallen already. There was no place for self ego. Their swords stayed until anyone got within range to threaten them. If the Acolyte failed to dispatch the enemy before they got out of her range, she would leave them be. There was no need for them to feel the need to prove their skills. Only Mtiette's words drove them on.

Thus burned the flames of war, it's scorching heat soon to claim the lives of many as they fall by blade and arrows - and gunfire. Chloe had the advantage of range for quite some time, more so with her pistols, which provided immense literal firepower, and effectively kept some soldiers back, and some sleeping forever.

All this, and the arrows fired hadn't struck down upon the advancing legions. It was a relieving revelation - one that allayed Chloe's fears, at least for a while.

"Taking to the skies, Mary," She said over to Mary, before flapping her wings and taking off into the sky.

It was the best way for her to partake in the battle, considering her fear of close-ranged combat. Not that she was fearless in ranged combat, but at least it wouldn't see her making a break for it too quickly. Chuckling at the irony of the reasons for this strategy, she fired her pistols, hoping to take down a few more soldiers before the arrows hit their marks.

The two armies' knights clashed over the fields as several of their warriors were cut down. Whether by the enemy, or this mysterious new force attacking both armies units.

For Mary, who saw Chloe begin her attack on the air, she had to continue her attack on the ground. Mary fired took three arrows and turned her bow sideways. Pulling back on the string, she fired three arrows at once, one of which hit an Erusean Knight in the eye, and knocking him off his horse. He would be feeling the pain as he bled to death. Mary smiled as she turned her attention to another knight who was dismounted and attacking various infantrymen. Pulling out her dagger, Mary moved in on the knight, who swung wildly at her countrymen. Her petite figure allowed her to bob and weave through the sword strikes, before bringing the knife down on the man's lower abdomen, where her plate armor would not be able to protect. Mary had to stab the area multiple times whilst dodging before he fell in battle.

----

For David of Bruis, seeing the Pheonician warrior strike down his soldiers was a blow to both his pride and his psyche. Riding with his horse, he went to meet with the Church Militant once again, this time, with the goal being to cut her down. Drawing his sword, he rode his horse down to take a swing "Now, you're mine...PHEONICIAN!!!" David screamed out the last word as he moved to swing at the woman's neck. He will see to it that she and her acolytes will not interfere with his plans.

Mtiette knew that they were going to draw more attention than just the run of the mill grunt. This time, it was the knight that had come to give them warning to not interfere. He appeared to be quite high ranking, meaning either he was competent fighter and commander or an egotistic man that was birthed into his position. Mtiette would find out once they met blades.

Mara! Take lead along with my spear! Hunker at the stack until i arrive or i fall!

Mara managed to only just managed to take her spear and begin taking the lead when Mtiette heard the knight thundering down upon them with his horse

"Now, you're mine...PHEONICIAN!!!"

Being on foot against a mounted knight was a serious handicap... for humans. Mtiette was a Pheonician and her wings gave her the ability to strike from more angles than most footmen. For the Knight's chop at her neck (presuming its a horizontal slash to decapitate her), Mtiette swung vertically upwards, angling Nix. Both swords clashed with a clang, but Mtiette's angle sword deflected and slid the Knights blade up and over her head. His forward momentum brought him past Mtiette. Turning on the point of her feet, she gripped Nix by both hands, pointing it downwards as she faced the mounted knight. Mtiette had no time to waste. The longer she stayed here, the longer her acolytes would have to defend the bales. While the stacks did funnel people into kill zones, making it easier to hold, it was fifty against over hundreds. The ending was obvious.

Huaaaaaa!

Sword stretched out horizontally to her side with both hands gripped on the hilt, Mtiette charged forward. It was a relatively clear pathway, made so when Mtiette parried the strike where he continued to ride. Seeing as it was faster for a human to turn around than a mounted knight, Mtiette had a small window of opportunity. Two Erusean stepped into her path, but with a quick diagonal slash, both fell easily one after another before Mtiette launched herself into the air a good 5 meters from the knight before diving straight at him with a right to left diagonal slash across at his shoulder.

David felt his blade deflected by the Pheonician's own blade. He cursed as he sped past her, the horse slowing down to turn around. How dare she interfere in battle, after warning her so. It doesn't matter though. His bloodlust cannot be quenched so easily, and he will not be denied that.

To add further insult to injury, by the time David did turn with the horse, the Pheonician launched a left diagonal slash at him David barely blocked the attack with his shield, but the force of the blow had knocked him clean off his horse, and he hit the soft ground with a thud, losing his shield in the process.

Nicholas Quiéret, David's second-in-command saw the battle between David and the Pheonician Church Militant from afar. While he was close to the battle at hand, he did not know why David was holding back against a person of his own kind. The Khesedi pretender was used to being human to evade his Gracemerian enemies after leaving the Anean Continent. Yet he didn't have to hide himself further in battle. Nicholas sighed and pulled out his daggers, and charged in to help his Khesedi ally.

(Emmerian side post will be made after Ravness' next post)

[OOC: Apologies for the short post. My inspiration's been running low of late.]

Fortunately for Chloe, this battle seemed to be heading towards a slow victory. As she flew, she realized there was yet another group that was doing battle against the same armies their own were up against.

She didn't see exactly who were fighting, but bearing this knowledge nevertheless, she flew back to Mary, and told her of the news.

OOC: You gonna control him or i have total control till he dies Kevin?

Her strike did not cleave the man in half as she intended, but at least he was dismounted and without his shield. It was a start. However, Mtiette felt that there was something off about him, but pushed it aside for now. This knight Davide was definitely a senior officer of some sort. As her feet touched lightly onto the grass, Mtiette pivoted 180 degrees on one foot and slashed down at an incoming grunt before lashing out two horizontal cuts at his friends that were trying to bracket her.

A slight tingle at the back of her neck made Mtiette side roll from where she stood and righted herself just in time to see a dagger lunge pierce the air where she stood just a second ago. Yet another knight had appeared that seemed more important than the average soldier. The duo stood still for a second when Mtiette tightened her grip, announced her name and slashed at him.

Holy Paladin Mtiette Faraway of the Religious order of St Jeanne D'Arc of the Santcus Church, coming!

Dashing low at waist height, Mtiette tried a low to high vertical slash, aiming at breaking his guard even if he manages to block it with his dagger. That would leave him open for a follow up strike.

Here we go!

Her sword swung up and met the dagger, ringing as the metal clash. However, his guard was only partially broken. His dagger hand had only risen to shoulder height and was in a perfect position to stab down at her, which he did.

Nrgh!

Mtiette' pulled her right shoulder to face the knight, just in time as the dagger came down. It slammed down on the convex surface, and slid ff towards the left, toppling the knight forward. Swiftly with her left hand grabbing onto the dagger hand's wrist and using his own forward momentum, Mtiette kicked the man in the stomach before locking her knee and rolled backwards, flinging him over her. The thump meant that the knight did not land nicely. A window of opportunity opened as Mtiette rolled to her feet with her own momentum and lashed down at the downed knight.

OOC: I'll leave the stuff you posted there, but I'll take control of General Quiéret, still he's a NPC so technically, anyone can control him.

IC:

David heard the words of the Church Militant. "Mtiette of The Sanctus Church, huh?"

"What are you doing, get up and lead your men. Our forces are in full retreat." David quickly stood up of the cold ground, and picked up his sword, whilst Nicholas went ahead to duel with Miss Faraway.

"You better not die Mtiette!" David said tauntingly after seeing Nicholas down and Mtiette rolling back to her feet, "I look forward to do battle together!!!" The Khesedi pretender laughed before he moved to a new target, an Emmerian Spearman, whom he dispatched with a horizontal swing that decapitated the man, whilst taking the spear.

----
"I apologize for my Khesedi friend. His desire to reclaim his throne has left him, a little eccentric, mon adversaire (my adversary)." Nicholas was breathing heavily saying this, the nasty fall most likely breaking some bone in his body. "Nonetheless, for my King, I will defeat you." Nicholas slowly got to his knees and assumed a defensive position, knowing he would not be able to stand by the time the Sanctus Acolyte would strike.

----
Mary continued throwing off arrows. Already, her team's arrows had already shattered the morale of several Erusean columns, and it was certain to be an Emmerian victory on the field.

It wasn't until Chloe landed and told Mary of what's going on that she learned something. "So, the Sanctus Church had been attacking both sides. No matter, so long as we forced the Eruseans off the field, then it doesn't matter. We're winning this battle."

Mary looked out to the Eruseans in retreat, victory was only a matter of time now.

"You better not die Mtiette! I look forward to do battle together!!!"

The taunts were ignored. Mtiette kept her eye set on the knight in front of her.

"I apologize for my Khesedi friend. His desire to reclaim his throne has left him, a little eccentric,
mon adversaire (my adversary).Nonetheless, for my King, I will defeat you."

Mtiette took a deep breathe and calmed her combat adrenaline. Her mind began to calm down and she knew that the knight in front was probably injured enough to not pursue her if she fled right now. That meant there was no need to go and kill him. Perhaps she could convince him to retreat?

It matters not. Nationalism and loyalty have many levels from noble intentions to fanaticism. However, i only wish to evacuate the children that were left behind in those hay bales and stacks. Would you stand down and allow me to regroup or are you determined to have my head?

Her stance was in a more defensive style, to guard against any sudden grunt coming from the middle of nowhere. Her fight with the knight was going to be by her initiative. He was formidable, even injured. Should he manage to mount up, even in his state, he would harass and most likely kill a few of her acolytes before he himself is taken. Should he not yield, then for the children and her acolytes, Mtiette would have to regrettably take his life. She found herself respecting this man more than his friend and would have much preferred it if she faced him. His indiscriminate fanaticism helped her blade to stay true and her heart more readily to strike him down.

And so, the battle was drawing to a close. Even as Chloe fired shots after shots, she was getting less sane than should be. The battle was clearly turning to their favour, but her fear of battle was starting to get to her. Taking again, to the skies, she was raining down shots in the safety of the clouds.

“Hang on a while longer!”

Loading her guns again, she repeated her volley of fire.

Nicholas closed his eyes for the moment, finally saying. "I...have my intentions to die in battle, and I rather it be by your hand, rather than the Emmerians..." He opened his eyes and took out his daggers. "Go...get the children out of here and regroup, I rather fight you at your best. I'll be waiting for you on the other side of the field, adversaire." Continuing to train his eyes on the retreating soldiers, some of their lines shattered from battle, Nicholas looked back at Mtiette, hoping to see her run to do her intended mission.

Mtiette Faraway

"I...have my intentions to die in battle, and I rather it be by your hand, rather than the Emmerians... Go...get the children out of here and regroup, I rather fight you at your best. I'll be waiting for you on the other side of the field, adversaire."

It meant that he had the intentions to die here, regardless. The children will be safe. That at the very least he has given, but Mtiette guessed that his honour as a knight dictated that he had to follow the earlier rash knight's instructions. It was a pity. This man was a true knight. Mtiette raised her fingers to her lips and whistled loudly a triple note tone. From their defensive position, her Acolytes reformed into a kite formation with the children in the middle and shield all around. With the battlefield more empty and less intense at the sides, they need not cut their way out anymore, but merely defend and escape. As they ran behind Mtiette, she gave one more order.

Mara. Ensure that you make it back without any casualties. I will fly from the battlefield after our duel.

Yes Ma'am

Now facing Nicholas, Mtiette raised her sword to her face, flat side facing her opponent before she swung it to her side.

Again, i am Holy Paladin Mtiette Faraway of the Religious order of St Jeanne D'Arc of the Santcus Church. Here i come.

Mtiette dashed forward at Nicholas. It wasnt going to be a long battle. Mtiette was in her prime while the knight is a veteran, but probably in his late 40's. Plus, the throw she did earlier seemed to have affected him by a bit.

Let's test the water shall we....

Nix lashed out in a horizontal chest slash, followed by a downward left diagonal slash, her sword being pulled back next to her before finishing the simple combo with a forward lunge to the heart, her body coiling and springing forward from the pull back from the diagonal slash as well as her knees and elbows, adding power and speed to the thrust
