[RP] - Spirit Shards

Robert Silvermyst

Robert turned to see Asher and gave a smile. "I'm glad to see you're still alive. However, we have trouble." Robert explained as he turned to her. "It seems someone wants us dead. The camp was attacked by stealthed archers. What troubles me more is how precise and efficient they were in their attack. The one named Steve was killed before anything could be done from an arrow dead center into his heart. I couldn't locate locate the attackers, and it seems they have the forest covered. They obviously aren't normal bandits, that much is certain." Robert explained. He had a few cuts across his right arm from where arrows grazed him, with the blood soaked fur around the area being the only visible sign.

"If we are going to be staying here, we best make precautions and leave as soon as dawn breaks." he spoke to her. "Is Lucia safe as well?" Robert asked. They had already lost one companion. He wasn't about to lose any others.

Leaving through the Inn's front door, Lucia announced herself, keeping her hood drawn over her head "i'm here" Lucia, not being in one of her better moods wasn't up for much talking right now, while she wasn't all for the idea of gathering the shards for some goddess she couldn't trust, for now it was down to her to provide evidence to the contrary. For the time being she'd have to go along with it, at the very least she'd look less of a fool that way.

Overhearing about the demise of the boy, Lucia realised that for the time being at least they would be unable to complete their mission, buying her time to try and find things out, at least there was some good news out of all of this, even if it had to come at another's downfall.

Umbra
Vex to Chuck

Vex was on his second drink as the door opened and his mood darkened as the person that walked in and placed a hand on his shoulder and spoke to him."Ya better be careful not ta get drunk again." "C'mon. Get out of ya mood and lets get working towards finding that shrine." Giving a small snort he just laughed and pointed to the pitcher, downing his second one and quite easily pouring his third one he answered in a dull somber tone. "I won't be going anywhere till this large pitchers gone, paid to much good money for it."

Then lowering his voice he turned around and meet Chuck with a steely gaze, his voice getting slightly darker. "Sides "Knight" Vex said with a heavy emphasis on the word knight, "I don't exactly place my trust in those who I think to be spies. Considering what happened and your attire there, well I will let that speak for itself. Though I must ask myself what is keeping me from outing you to the rest of the group we be traveling with, so why don't you get straight with me now and tell me what your business is here. Don't even think about giving me any of that joker attitude you've been showing up till now, otherwise I may forget my place here and decide that I need to defend myself from a potential assassin."

Grabbing his smaller pitcher he took a sip his gaze never leaving chuck, he lowered it and spoke. "So if you want to settle matters now we have numerous options available to us but I think these two might be on the top of both are minds right now. We sit here have a few drinks and talk about these matters as a couple of gentlemen, or we step outside and have ourselves a real brawl till one of us are dead. It's up to you, and if you haven't figured out by now that seeming act of drunkenness back at the previous town was just that, a simple act to fool you. I don't quite like myself getting known to strangers and I was hoping to play the act of the fool a little longer, but it seems that current matters won't allow that now will they."

Anticipating Chuck's response he waved the barman over to set another glass down, he himself was hoping to at least try and have a civil talk with this man.

Calden
Plains outside of Tempero

Calden was taking a break from his guard duty. He was lazily gazing back up at the sky thinking back to more simpler and happy times of his childhood. Where he was happy living with his kind in his own village, but then things took a turn for the worst and he was exiled. He couldn't remember how long he traveled but he soon came to Temoero. At first they were weary of him as a traveler but as he settled down they soon opened up to him. In fact to return them for their kindness he volunteered for the town guard which they more then gladly let him join. Ah yes life could be quite funny and turn around on you in an instant. He snickered and began to pull himself off the ground, and then as if a huge arrow of irony struck him he clutched his head in pain as a voice began to ring in his head and it spoke to him.

"The Fall of a Chosen means the rise of another.

You, the young dragon will help change the fate of the world, shall you chose to accept this quest or not is up to you, but your choice determines the ultimate fate of the world you live in.
500 years ago Acerbus and I fought a mighty war and were merged with the planets. Our souls breaking into 8 pieces and burring themselves deep within the two worlds. We no longer have the strength to keep the planets alive and the worlds are starting to crack. We are weak and are no longer able to sustain them.

The Five chosen ones, have been entrusted with the last of my power to go forth and collect 7 of the 8 Spirit Shards, if you do I will be restored and Relucesco will be saved but the people of Umbra will perish. If you fail, and the warriors from Umbra succeed, this planet as you know it will cease to exist. The consequences of your actions from this moment forward are a matter of life and death.

Now take my power and go, go find the four others entrusted with my power and become the saviours our planet needs before it is too late."

As the voice ended he felt a new sensation of pain as a weird mark began to appear on the palm of his left hand. Finally standing up his right hand clutching his head still his heart grew heavy, as the though of killing off an entire planet just to save this one now presented itself to him. He had all ready unwittingly killed some hunters that threatened his friends once and that was in a blind rage after they killed one of them. But now to sacrifice an entire planet full of people, the thought disgusted him and weighed heavy on his soul.

Walking back to the village the two that were on guard duty noticed something wrong with Calden and stopped him before he entered. Only one of them engaged talk with him a slight worried tone was in his voice.

"Hey Calden whats wrong, something seems as if it's troubling you." Calden just let out a light smirk and waved them off with his right hand, "Nothing really just a bad headache I should be fine." The two looked at each other and nodded then the same one that asked him what was wrong asked another question though this one seemed strange. "Hey were supposed to be on the lookout for a group of five travelers. Though while we haven't seen a group that matches that some people have passed through that seem out of place. They headed to the inn, while it may be nothing you mind checking it out for us. That way it doesn't look like were suspicious of them if by chance they are this group."

Calden gave them a slight nod as he let out a simple "Sure thing" before heading into town. Walking up to the inn he made a quick run down of himself. His katars were fastened to his back belt and his katana at his side, both were easily concealed by his cape. Walking upstairs to the inn he was about to knock on the door when he heard a male voice speaking.

They obviously aren't normal bandits, that much is certain. If we are going to be staying here, we best make precautions and leave as soon as dawn breaks." he spoke to her. Is Lucia safe as well?"

Calden then knocked on the door and opened it slightly, waving his right hand in he spoke in a shy voice. "Sorry couldn't help but over hear you folks as I was walking by. I happen to be a bit of a wander and quite handy with a sword. If you need help maybe I can provide some myself." He put on a fake smile as he rubbed the back of his head with his left hand, mainly because he really hated lying to anyone.

Indigo harumphed slightly as he watched Chuck walk away, dragging himself up from where he sat, he sauntered after his new companion. He whistled softly with no real tune as he followed the knight, idly wondering how long it would take his new 'friends' to realise he was a mute. 'At most a day I reckon, smart money is on an hour though' Indigo found himself thinking, as he pushed open the door to the Tavern Chuck had entered. It wasn't a particularly well kept establishment, but the wanderer had seen far worse in his time.

Indigo watched Chuck make a beeline towards some figure slouched at the bar, he himself leaned against the wall just inside the door. The tall warrior seemed to know the man somewhat, though their interaction had a strained and awkward feel to it. The slightly bemused fighter tapped a waitress on the left shoulder, and plucked a flagon of beer from her tray with his right hand as she turned. Shifting slightly to make himself more comfortable, Indigo watched Vex and Chuck begin their palaver.

Celestia

As it turned out, Celestia wasn't completely wrong about her ill premonition. Whether or not there was any further ill intent was unclear, but he certainly did not mean to offer a friendly handshake. Glancing over to Chuck's purplish hands, she sighed. Ultimately, they were going to be a team. For this new individual to introduce himself in such a manner is largely uncalled for.

Either way, she figured while Chuck went along to thrash things out with Vex, she may as well try to know this new member of their team. Truth be told, she ought to have done the same with Ezelus, even though the latter is a wraith, or a monstrosity of some kind - whatever.

She followed after the man quietly, wondering how she should approach this conversation. The new member was following Chuck, who in turn, led them to the tavern where Vex said he would be.

Following the two into the tavern, she sighed, watching Chuck approach Vex. She just had a feeling it wouldn't go well, but there was no reason for her to cut in as well, so she decided to stay out of it - as with earlier. Looking around, she caught sight of the new team member, recognizing him by the mark on his hand. Celestia walked up to the man, noting his exceptional height and especially rugged demeanor.

The man didn't turn her off - she had seen worse. However, considering his treatment of Chuck, she couldn't help feeling a bit hesitant to approach him.

"Hey, the name's Celestia," Removing her gloves, she showed him the mark on her hand. "What's your name?"

Asher Brighton
Tempero Inn.

Stevie was dead?? Asher bowed her head sadly, thinking about the boy she'd shared a village with. She hardly knew him but it was still depressing. She said a quiet prayer in her mind and then looked back up at the group which Lucia had just joined.

"Well I am glad you're safe Prince." She smiled weakly placing a hand on the man's arm reassuringly."But I wonder what will happen now that there are only four of us... and we still haven't found our fourth member anyway..."

She looked up at Lucia who seemed sad for some reason, perhaps she had a terrible nap? Then a stranger came over to them offering help. Was this a trick? She wasn't sure what to make of the man but trusting strangers was probably not the best of ideas right now, specially a stranger who was listening in on their personal conversation.

"Were you spying on us??"
She asked with a stern tone. "Who are you??"

Channing (Chuck) Freeley
Colligo Tavern

Chuck rolled his eyes at his travel companion who was drowning himself in booze, ranting and raving and carrying on. He was not in the mood to tolerate this nonsense.

"Firstly ya little brat, I ain't no spy!!!" He placed his hand out showing the burnt symbol on his palm. "Ya think I could fake this?? I don't think anyone can plan for this ta happen!!! I keep my problems ta myself, I don't 'ave ta tell you anything..." His voice was stern but he held his composure. Not wanting to stoop down to Vex's level right now. He sat himself down on the stool next to the blond and continued.

"But obviously ya wont let this go. I was a knight... in fact I was a knight until about ten day's ago. But now I've a bounty on ma head coz I went snooping where I wasn't welcome, over'earing things I shouldn't 'ave."
He watched Vex for his reaction, wondering if he would believe him. He was telling the truth after all but Vex was crazy and loved jumping to conclusions...

"Now I hardly know any of ya, there was no reason to bring it up to people who might sell me out for a chance at tha prize for bringin' in a traitor to our Lord, now ya can either believe me and get over ya self, or not. Then we got a problem but I wont be startin' any trouble"

He stood up and stepped away. "Now, if we're done 'ere I'd like to get a move on collecting these shards, ya just holding us back." Chuck turned his back on Vex, walking over to Celestia and their new nameless companion.

"Heh, heh. Sorry 'bout that. Our lil' friend Vex isn't too good at holdin' his emotions, so... any idea's on where ta start?"

He hoped with all his might that Vex would get over his issues and come and help out.

Spotting the strange man when Asher drew attention to him, Lucia's attention perked up and she turned to look at him, true enough he certainly looked suspicious. Lucia, knowing what this could lead to defensively placed her arm around Asher, moving in front of her.

"You got a problem here?"

Lucia lightly tightened her grip on Asher, she was being unnaturally protective, even for her this was surprising.

Aklyss had been unaware of the other Chosen of Aduro entering the village; his destination had been the Forest Shrine. He stood in front of it, some 30 feet away. A sextet of guards stood watch there, obviously uninterested in him as they milled about the entrance; it wasn't as if anyone had ever broken in.

The five story temple loomed over him, the portal inside overgrown with roots. The outer layers showed signs of burn damage as though someone had tried to get past them but they had resisted. Aklyss was tempted to see what freezing them would do but that would draw the attention of the guards.

Leaning against a tree, the mage surveyed the building. There didn't seem to be any other viable access points there for now; the shadows would grow longer as the day continued and maybe somethign would open up.

Vex
Coligo Tavern

Vex just laughed as Chuck spazed out. First he was calling him a brat then he was flipping out from his spy accusation. As he finished his third glass he poured himself a fourth and shook his head laughing out loud. He took his glass with him as he got himself and walked over to the group with a smile on his face.He just spoke a little more chipper then he did in the field and his previous conversation with Chuck, mainly because he was amused at how easily he flipped out. "So I am a brat now, and for what? Thinking you're a spy? We were just attacked and what you told me back there, then who knows how long they could have been watching you if your not. As for bringing it up I think there is a reason, if we are to succeed in this mission we need to know of each other so we can help and maybe support one another in battle. Though if you're one to let people die and just hope another chosen one like this guy here shows up, well your head is further up your ass then I originally thought. As for holding my emotions." this time his voice grew a bit more somber "I see nothing wrong with wanting to show proper respect to a fallen warrior. Is that something beyond you, showing someone respect even in death. Screw the world we live in even if it revolves around it, he still died in battle."

Now walking towards the door and just wanting to get on with the task at hand he thought he would make a stupid yet obvious statement. "Well if these shards are supposed to represent the elements, we're practically in a volcano. Why not see if there is one of these shrine things near the center." He waved his hand in a goodbye manner to the rest and just started to walk in the direction he though was the center.

Calden
Tempero Inn

Calden threw up both of his hands though his palms facing him and waved them frantically in front of his face, as a look of small shock came across his face. The fact his palms were facing him was to hide the brand on his palm it closely resembled the two tattoo's his tunic hide in marking wise, and he had no idea if these people could be hunter's of sort. To go along with his motions he shook his head a couple times. "No no no," he repeated a couple times, now settling down he lowered his hands. He just stood still and did a slight bowing motion and got back up. "It's honestly as I was saying. I was resting out in the field a little bit ago kinda enjoying the day then I decided to come into town. On my way to my room I overheard the part of you being in trouble. So me being the well sadly noisy and try to be helpful guy I am just decided to see if you would by chance like help with what your trouble may be."

"Do you normally jump out to help the first person who has a problem? What a good little samaritan you are" Lucia replied, making her sarcasm clear "Our problems are our concern, why not go and rescue a cat out of a tree and leave us be?"

Lucia, still holding on to Asher turned around and started to walk away before turning her head slightly to Robert "Unless you're gullible I assume you have no business with a complete stranger? We don't need glory hunters here"

Lucia then turned her head, whispering in Asher's ear so the man couldn't overhear "we should head for that temple as quick as we can, I don't like the look of him, he might start following us and for all we know he could be a threat"

Robert Silvermyst
Tempero Inn

Robert had his doubts. Considering how soon after it was after he and his former companion were attacked, the timing was a little too convenient. "I must agree with Lucia. My apologies, but with everything that's happened thus far, your timing is a bit too convenient, and normally people aren't that eager to help out a group of complete strangers, not unless they had some sort of personal interest, ranging from protection from a group that's following them to spying for a third party." Robert explained. "We know nothing about you, and you have nothing to back your claims than your word. I am sorry, but we must be on our way. Excuse us." Robert spoke with a calm and sincere tone of voice.

They had already lost one companion, and if this person was working for the people who attacked him and his fallen friend, it would lead to even greater trouble. As good-hearted as the wolven prince was, he was no fool, and would take some time to earn his trust.
