Should they remake for PS3?

No they shouldn't IMO. The game is still playable on the PS1 and is in fine shape. It will just be more time and money etc, from Squenix for a game that millions of people have already played. I've already met the characters, played through their adventure, I don't need it again.

FFVIII is history.
The only remotely interesting and unanswered question involves the Rinoa/Ultimecia theory, and a remake, IMO, can never do the game justice.

If they did decide to remake the game, it would still be shallow and the characters would all remain underdeveloped. There's virtually no point.

I agree that it would be pointless to remake the game since the storyline would basically be the same and the characters the same.

But think about why people clamor for a PS3 remake of VII.
I think it's all the same logic. There would be lots of VIII fans out there that would voice out that they want their own remake. (Which would then lead to clamors for other FF titles...)

In the end it would likely be improbable that Squenix dabble about a VIII remake even though if they did release a VII remake, all hell would probably break loose in terms of them getting flooded by requests.
(*News: FFVII fans seek Squenix heads; demand (VIII) makeover*)

They should definitely remake ff8 its one of the best on the series if they remade the top 3 then eveyone would be happy (top 3 as in top 3 in the ff series:) )

A remake?

I agree on the remake, but I believe a sequel, if done right, would only improve FF8. I mean, make it five or ten years down the road, and have a brand new storyline, not just rehashing the old one.

But as for moving consoles, I say no dice. The PS has the FF series and should keep it. It's one of the only reasons that I'd actually buy a PS3, as it stands.

well for VII mabe cuase they could possibly use the voice actors from AC that would work out somewhat but i dont think they should make a new VII it would ruin it for me

I have mixed feelings, but i'd like a remake with a better battle system and voices.

Well i think they should remake it for PS2.But you know i wouldn't mind the PS3 cause my friend has one :D. Me and My friend were talking about how good do you think a interactive square enix character game would be.I was like hmmmm yea i guess it could be cool.:D

honestly i think they should remake VII, VIII, and IX all on the ps3. but will they? no, the only realistic possibility is VII.

I honestly don't want them to remake it. The chances of them remaking it and it being as good as teh original are very slim. I would rather not see them ruin it. Maybe if all they do is update teh graphics. Then it might be alright

FVII? Yes, I would say that is a possibility but as for FFVIII and FFIX, I still think it is too early for them. I would say 10 years from its original release is the minimum a game should be considered for a remake. I know with FFIV getting a remake could seem pretty soon considering the GBA versions came out but they weren't that much of a remake while the DS version is basically going to be conpletely new. I would prefer it if they remade the FFI-VI first before taking that step up to FFVII.

It could be done; and with a fair bit of thought they could pull it off.
The story of Final Fantasy VIII is it's jewel, so this should be left alone, or there would be outcry (from me at least).
The graphics are a novelty, and have a strange kind of charm to them, but there is no doubt they pale in comparison to recent installments of the series.
You see, my little cousin is getting into Final Fantasy right now (he is 10) but he wont touch any Final Fantasy before X, as we classes them as old and crappy graphics (he has a fair point really).
I believe that Square-Enix should not just leave VII, VIII and IX to gather dust and let a whole generation miss out on there unbelievable storytelling wizardry, even if they do just give them a new face and and maybe even a voice-box :P

I agree with what you are saying (Although you can try and help your cousin to appreciate older games ;)) but I still think that FFVIII and FFIX right now are still perfectly playable. As for FFVII, my PC version is almost dead so I got the PS1 version and it took me like 45 minutes just to get past the opening FMV. :'(

I think they should start making spinoffs for FF8 like they did for FF7. I believe they should be for the PS3 or other system with good graphics. That would be awesome.

Good God, no! Square-Enix has already ruined FF7, they don't need to ruin the other Final Fantasies too! Seriously, what is wrong with you?

A remake will be a good idea actually, may be we'll see some new ideas and new characters.
Well,we have to wait and see.
BTW I think the day that SE will made a remake or a sequel for FFVIII will be the day that Sephiroth will actually appear and the day when Tifa "make love " with Cloud!

VIII was at best good, it was not a brilliant game like VII and X were. It should not be re-made in my opinion. The only game that should be re-made should be VII.
