Square-Enix asks fans about Remake of VII

I would even like it if they kept the game, but re-made the cutscenes. Something. Anything....Please? FFVIII re-make I'm not so sure about. I would personally love it, but not nearly as many people like VIII as people like VII. I would be afraid that it would flop and ruin the good name of VIII. Also I would almost say, I like VIII as it is. The only reason everyone wants a re-make of VII is because the original graphics sucked and I'm sure people would enjoy some voice-overs. I dunno :p

After answering to many threads like this I've come to realize that I don't desire a remake for FFVII.Sure, raphics would rock, but do we really want a "perfect" ame?I think we all loved it for its imperfections and remakin it will only make it like the rest of the games out there for the PS3.Crappy graphics characterize this? Then so be it,cause it at least reminds us that back then they focused more on the story and characters rather than the graphics, otherwise it wouldn't be were it is today.
I just don't want a legend ruined.I'm happy playin this over and over again, with the characters having square hands and no mouths.I don't know why but it seems all beautiful to me.Maybe cause it takes more to imagine the characters as real people in terms of appearance.
And not to mention that with all those spin-offs I'm pretty much afraid they'll alter the main true story.

Block hands ftmfw. :mokken:

I really don't think a remake is necessary (I'm sure I've said this before). Sure you can argue that it'd be nice to see it in better graphics and that the original graphics sucked but graphics don't make a game for me. I doubt I'd enjoy the game more than I did before because it has prettier graphics. If I want to replay VII, I have two copies. I can pop it in the PS2 any time. I also didn't think the graphics of VII were particularly terrible. Sure they aren't on par with today's graphics but the game is 13 years old.

I just don't see the necessity of it really. They should really move on and away from VII and continue to focus on new games, imo.

What length. VII isn't THAT long.

Besides, if they have a large staff on making the game then it shouldn't take THAT long. SE is over dramatizing it.

I agree that they do take a long time, but we'd only know if we were to actually have insight on the gaming industry. I bet it could be really stressful if your trying to get everything perfect whilst trying to maintain impatient fans. If you get it wrong, your f---ked.

There are enough RPGs out there that a FFVII remake would not be necassary.....but saying that it would be great if S-E were to do it huh we all know about the potential of the graphics and stuff but do you really want to play a game we all know so well i would be happy with a port of the world map and just upgrade the graphics to modern levels with some Mark missions and a new type of battle arena they dont even need a story they could just include battle voices for a more ligit experience .

Leave the orriginals as they are. A remake will just turn it into the crap they are currently hawking out. Honestly does no one leave well enough alone?

Honestly they do need to stop messing sround with the no remake yes to remake. I would personally like to see it though, as long as the old battle system remained and the music, without the music it would be ruined a lot for me strangley enough, I always feel like that when I play X-2

SE are a bunch of cock munchers when they say "Oh it would take this amount of time to do it, which we don't have" or "This amount of people, which we don't have" or "Over 9000 years to develop... which we don't have."

Seriously? The money a VII remake would make would set those employees up for life, if the PS3 ported it alone. If they multi platformed it, they would make so much off of it, there are so many requests for this game it's ridiculous.

Myself, I would love to see a remake, but really they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they remake it, they'll have to pay so much attention to the original as well as fan opinions... do they remix the soundtrack or just re-orchestrate them? Do they use remastered but still pre rendered backgrounds, or do they do everything in real time like XIII? Do they revive Aerith, or not? Do they add more dungeons, Materia, Chocobo's, optional boss battles... there would be so much to reconsider that they're probably scared to even attempt it rather than having time, money and staff constraints.

How many people would be satisfied with just an announcement that they were actually going to make freakin remake. They really should have done it for the 2007 anniversary IMO
Not instead of crisis core but aswell as CC

I want a remake. >_<

Tifa - 1080p = Happy

And to those of you that say to leave it alone and that a remake will only ruin it.. no, just no. I'm 90% sure that even though you say that, if a remake were to come you'd still be on the waiting list to purchase. And if it's worse or you simply don't like it? BIG WOOP you still have the original to play. There's no harm that can come from it. I think it would be great because a lot of people I know won't play the game because of the graphics, but I feel that they are missing out.

I say that if a remake is even 60 - 70% as good as the original that it was a success! COME ON SQUARE! BRING IT!

This is one thing people always forget. There's still the original game on PS and on the PSN now, so anybody saying that a remake would be shit and take away from the original is just shitting themselves. Because something new can't make something old shit as long as the old version is still accessible.

^ my thoughts exactly. The one thing, however, that I fear is SE making some drastic change in the story and call it a retcon. People like to discuss character interactions/relationships and storylines, so changes that happen in remakes and spin-offs could throw a wrench into things.

That's my fear. I mean, they did make many changes in the spin-offs. If they decide to remake VII, a popular game with a fandom bigger than three suns, then they'd make lots of money. And to make more money, they would change things so either side of the couple war had less so that each side was even, therefore causing a lot of trouble along with change and money. lol
If that made sense:fart: I'm tired, so don't ask about my loopiness.

FFVII, it just prints money. What about the towns? How are they going to do the towns?

I wouldn't mind a remake, but I wouldn't like to see the story altered as far as possible. It doesn't bother me much to see a change in other aspects though.

On the other hand, the idea of seeing the characters in high definition sounds interesting.

S'up. How is Square saying it's going to take too long? You got a story and characters already made and 50 sequels, prequels, and movies to it with some of the towns in it.

But anyway, it was a good game but I'd rather see something new.

That's completely subjective.

Obviously the original isn't ruined, but a bad remake can ruin, in some people's eyes, the FF7 universe. (games, characters etc.) Like if your favourite program from 10 years ago made a special episode and it absolutely blowed, you might be annoyed/angry and the whole series would have gone down in your estimation.
Also, if they bother with a remake and it turns out to not capture what people liked about FF7 then that would piss people off. Not only because it didn't deliver but because the whole remake would have been a waste.

Not that I think this. Personally, it was an OK game and I really don't care about it anymore, especially since I've grown up, I look for different things to capture me. It's just another perspective that may or may not make sense to you.

If voice acting is introduced (which I'm sure it will be), how will Square-Enix cope with all of the foul language used by Barret and Cid? I think Barret and Tifa used the word "retarded" which is considered extremely offensive by some people, too. Will they censor this stuff or just keep and risk and M-rating for language?

Shown here

"If we were to recreate Final Fantasy VII with the same level of graphical detail as you see in Final Fantasy XIII, we'd imagine that that would take as much as three or four times longer than the three and a half years it has taken to put this Final Fantasy together," Kitase explained, "so it's looking pretty unrealistic!"

It's pretty stupid and I think they could do it sooner, but.. eh.

That's completely subjective.

I suppose I see your point, but maybe if they had the maturity level of an 11 year old. Doesn't matter how bad a remake might be, the original was still very good and can't be ruined by it, only those who would choose to dislike it for what has been produced recently.

Frankly with the cross dressing and the gay adventures in Mukki's tub, an M-rating wouldn't be too off the charts.

That's how I felt about Dragonball when GT was introduced. And that live action movie X_____X

But regardless, I still enjoy what came before. It might not have been the greatest, but I still appreciate the fact it was made. To me, if square made a remake of FFVII it proves that they care about what the fans want! Whether it blows or not I say good on square for giving it a shot(if they do).

BTW, off topic but I love that signature you have. It's great.
