[SU/D] Children of Aether

Alias: Tatheria Sintoine
True Name: Ariewa
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Witches
Element: Spirit

Appearance: Tatheria stands at 5'4", not too tall and not too short for the rest of her appearance. She has the slim, fragile-looking body of a dancer, though hiding behind her outward appearance is the strength of 14 years of hard ballet training. Due to her dancing, she's used to wearing her long, curly brown hair piled on top of her head to keep it out of her way, and feels odd to her when it's loose. Light green eyes and pale colored lips look slightly out of place next to her dark, richly colored hair, but match her coloring otherwise. Tath's skin is very lightly tanned, just dark enough that it's hard for her to be sunburned, but still light enough to be called pale as well. Other than a few scars, mostly of unremarkable origins, her skin is unmarked in all visible areas of acne, birthmarks, and the like. Starting three or four inches above her left hip is a thick pink scar that stretches around her left side to her back, ending before reaching the middle of her back. Despite being several years old, the scar looks like it has just recently healed, with no indication of continuing to improve.

As for clothing, Tath prefers thin items that allow her to move freely, such as leggings or yoga pants in dark colors paired with large cotton t-shirts in brighter colors and patterns. Her shoes are most often small flats in a color to match her shirt or rubber flip-flops, also matching in color. While working, she has to dress much more professionally and wears a simple black skirt with a nice shirt.

Personality: Tatheria is as bright and loud as her preferred clothing choices. She loves to make new friends and absolutely refuses to see any situation as awkward. In her opinion, there's no point in going through life sad and quiet when you can be happy, and she does her best to make everyone else happy as well. Some would describe her as annoyingly optimistic, though she prefers to see it as simply cheerful.

On the occasions that she isn't her normal self, she takes it to the other extreme, falling into a deep, dark mood that could almost be compared to a depression. She withdraws from her friends and family, ignoring all attempts at communication. Often, while in such a mood, she spends entire days in bed, calling in sick to work and not bothering to practice her dancing at all. If she manages to drag herself out of bed and to work, she treats people so differently from how she normally does that some customers leave wondering if she has a twin sister, thinking that no one could have such a complete 360 of their personality. When she bounces back from one of these moods, it's just as instantaneous as the start, and she's back to her normal self in no time at all.

Bio: Growing up with just a mother, Tatheria learned early on what it was like to not make ends meet. Her mother tried her best to give Tath every opportunity to succeed that she could, working more than one job most times and making sure Tath was fed and clothed before even beginning to worry about her own needs. Despite a hard childhood, Tatheria was a sunny, bright child, loved by all adults and somewhat hated by all children her age for the attention she attracted. Just after she started school, her mother chose to have her IQ tested, though Tath was never allowed to know the results. Shortly after the IQ test, Tath skipped a grade, bumping her up with the older kids in order to “give her a greater chance to reach her true potential.” Despite this choice on her mother's part, she still found herself bored to the point where she hated school, finding it a complete waste of time by the time she was 10. After a conference with most of the teachers who had taught her, she was placed in the next grade up, putting her at two years younger than her classmates. Until the end of her college education, this was enough, though it did cause slight problems when she enrolled in her university.

Shortly before beginning her degree in university, a mysterious figure appeared to her on her 16th birthday. While in her room getting ready to go out with a few friends, a slight haze of what she could only describe as magic filled the air in front of her and suddenly someone who called himself the Horned King was in front of her. Now, if she was telling this story to someone, not that she can, she would omit the fact that she screamed and fainted upon seeing him. Her story would say something along the lines of her leaping up, ready to fight, even if that's not what happened at all. The Horned King waited patiently for her to wake up, and then informed her quickly and matter-of-factly about the existence of witches and her new role as one.

Now, at the age of 21, Tatheria is working on a business degree while working in the office of a local business woman, doing the boring things such as filing and running errands. She often feels that without her, the entire office would be a jumbled mess... though this isn't exactly true. She likes the people she works with, hates the classes she's attending, and is trying very hard to remain anonymous in the big city of London, but having some trouble succeeding due to her academic achievements. Despite this, she likes the city and learns more about how to get by on her own every day. She's not sure what she would do if she happened to come by a witch... but she figures she'll work that out when the situation arises.

Edit: I'm finishing this bit by bit. I lost some of it when my computer decided to die so I'm saving it like... obsessively.

Edit edit: STILL. NOT. COMPLETE. I'm working on it slowly, I at least have a plan in place.

Will review when finished, Jess :jess:

In the meantime...I've made a profile for the Darkness Witch, because an idea popped into my head...and, for once, I've given a visual representation for how she appears.

Alias: Lily
True Name: Nereia
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Witch
Weapon: N/A
Element: Darkness
Appearance:

Lily is barely 5’0”, and appears to be very fragile, characterized further by her thin, bony frame, pale, almost sickly skin colour, and constant state of fear and stress. Lily practically radiates anxiety, making her appear to be very vulnerable, an aura you would expect of a lost child, not a sixteen year-old girl.

She has somewhat gaunt facial features due to a constant lack of sleep: whilst the makeup she puts on (skin coloured eyeliner) conceals the dark rings under her light amber eyes, it can do nothing for the haunted look within them. She has a sharp, pointed noise and highly-placed, thin eyebrows, giving her a severe expression, and loose blonde hair that comes down to her shoulders, which she keeps out of her eyes with a simple clip. Lily prefers clothing that covers her entire body: a high-collar, white frilled shirt, sometimes with a ribbon adorning it, and a plain brown, knee-length skirt, with white stockings. She wears a simple pair of shoes with thick soles, disdaining heels. She has a single piece of jewellery: a simple golden chain necklace, which belonged to her mother, which she keeps concealed under her shirt.

Personality: Lily’s most noticeable personality trait is her anxiety. She lives in a constant state of fear, forever looking over her shoulder, flinching at the smallest of things done or said, and displays a level of paranoia that would put even the most introverted neurotic to shame. Lily is constantly on the lookout for hidden agendas within people – especially men, who she has a fundamental distrust of – and it is this attitude that often drives people away from her. That she sees enemies within their very shadows does nothing to help her fears, either.

Lily craves company; she doesn’t care how badly people treat her (within reason, of course) or how little they think of her, all she wants is to be able to trust someone, to have someone to talk to, whenever she needs to. She is terrified of being raped again, or having her soul stripped by another witch (although part of her thinks having her powers removed would be the best thing that could happen to her, she is unwilling to pay her soul for that) and finds it extremely difficult to tell friend from foe as a result. She doesn’t believe men would talk to her unless they want something, and every girl she talks to above her age she is afraid will turn out to be a witch. She can trust no-one, when the one thing that she wants to do above all others is to find someone, anyone, to trust. She is very shy and quiet in social situations, out of a fear that she will say something stupid or inappropriate and people will either laugh at her, attack her, or never want to be around her again.

Although part of her believes that she deserves to be treated badly, that she deserved to be raped the first time, and that she would deserve it again if it ever happened. If a witch stole her soul, it would be because she deserved it. Lily takes absolutely everything personally: if something bad happens, it was because of her, even if the circumstances were beyond her control. She recognises that the entire world doesn’t revolve around her and this makes her feel even guiltier for thinking so much about only herself. Nothing she does is right.

Lily is hopelessly romantic; any form of positive attention, no matter how small, she will match with a rather terrifying intensity, only to run through every scenario, every word spoken, afterwards, seeking hidden meanings and ulterior motives behind them, even if none exist. She crashes and burns repeatedly, seeing things as far more than they are, only to realise that this is not the case when she speaks to the other person again, and then sees this as them simply pretending to be her friend so that they can take advantage of her. Lily reacts very badly to negative comments and even just slight indifference: she takes everything as a personal criticism, and will brood on these things for hours. She sees herself as inadequate and worthless, although she takes solace from her work at the NSPCC – whilst she cannot relate to the problems the children who call are having, she can relate to the feelings behind them, and finds an inner strength in talking to them, because they depend on her, and not the other way around. This is perhaps the only thing that has ever stopped Lily from self-harm: she realises that, despite how bad her life is, it could be considerably worse.

Bio: Lily was born in Bideford, in South Devon. An only child, her mother a tax consultant and her father a manager of the NSPCC; she had a relatively quiet, untroubled childhood, growing up wild in the countryside and playing along the beaches. Her life was quite idyllic…under her mother was offered a job that would allow them to live comfortably, provided they moved to London. So, Lily and her family moved to London when she was eleven years old, and suddenly her idyllic lifestyle was shattered. She quickly became despondent, missing the countryside and the friends she had. It took her a full year to adjust, and she became relatively content in Secondary School, finding an output for energy in hockey, and whilst she wasn’t popular, she wasn’t being picked on every day by people.

When she was fourteen, Lily’s life took a turn for the worst. Coming home from school after hockey club with her mother, they were ambushed by a group of thugs on the way home. Her mother was raped and killed, and Lily was raped and simply left in the alleyway, clutching her mother’s corpse. She managed to drag the body out of hospital before collapsing in the street, waking up three days later in the hospital.
From that day, Lily has been severely afraid of the dark, and refused to leave the house by herself at any hour. Her schoolwork suffered, as she was unable to sleep without a light on and, when she was finally able to sleep at night, she was haunted by nightmares of rape and her mother’s death, and her friends began to distance themselves from her, as she became highly dependent on them; calling in the middle of the night, and never going anywhere by herself. She refused psychiatric help; her friends already thought she was crazy, she didn’t want their suspicions to be confirmed. She coped as best she could with the fear for two years and, slowly, began to regain some of her confidence back, forcing herself to go out at late hours (albeit only in the street outside her house) and be less dependent. She got herself a part-time job at an NSPCC helpline call centre, and her marks at school began to pick up again. Slowly, Lily began to rebuild her life.

On her 16th birthday, three months ago, the Horned King visited her, granting her the power to control Darkness. He explained the extent of her powers to her – once she had calmed down – and seemed rather reluctant to grant her this power, if such a being could be accused of showing human emotion. This did nothing to help Lily’s fear of the dark though; rather, it only served to intensify it. An unstable, traumatized youth, the darkness reacted to Lily’s subconscious thoughts and feelings – every shadow, no matter how small, took the form of indiscriminate hands reaching for her, eager to pull her into the darkness, every time she even approached an area out of the light. Her own shadow even attempted to pull her down into the floor after a particularly bad nightmare. From being simply afraid to go out at night, Lily is now absolutely terrified. She altered her shifts at work to an all-night shift, spending the entire time in a brightly lit office room, never by herself for longer than five minutes, and sleeps during the afternoon.

Lily has spent much of her life since her 16th birthday in a constant state of fear: whilst the shadows will not attack her openly if she is in a brightly lit room, or in a crowded area, they are always at the edge of her vision. She has been too afraid of them to even attempt to control them, although they react to every subconscious feeling, and have responded when she has felt she was in danger, giving one man who attempted to hit on her a severe neck injury, and pulling another into a wall, depositing him who knows where. However, despite these powers aiding her on occasion, she still shuns and fears them, and considers herself cursed.

So...for those of you who are posting in the RP (all four of us. xD) is there anything in particular you had planned, or shall I just have Poppy leave a trail of corpses for you to follow before she integrates herself into the group (or tries to) under the guise of the Witch of Light? xD

Urgh. If there're any characters that are not already gathered with the current four, comprising Chell's, Squid's, Lezard's and Soul's character.... Maybe you might want to interact with mine...

... Urgh. Going by her character, she isn't even going to plan to leave to find out about the case... Any takers?

EDIT:

I do have a simple way to get them to meet up. They could meet online by some way or another.... Maybe.......... Omegle. lol

Late, but I should have Tath's bio done soon if you'd like to meet her. I haven't even looked at your character but that's okay, I need a way to interact as well. :wacky:

To briefly summarize my character, she's an orphan who managed to earn a scholarship to the University of Cambridge... Which apparently is on a part of Britain literally named Cambridge.... (I just found that out when creating this bio, lol)

You could be a student there as well, or be in the same place... Or I could find an excuse for my character to leave her hostel.

just a question because I can't remember if you already told us or not but how will we determine which witch will win in a fight?

Just say wind witch and water witch get into a fight to the death for the others power, how would we decide who would win? Is it a spoken agreement between the two RPers, do you decide Martel or is there a random number generator we could use?

Sorry if this has been answered before I forget easily :sad2:

Hahaha well I don't have anything like that planned just yet, but Crimson can be a loose cannon. Who knows what might set her off in the future :O

Plus she has the idea of power in her head now which got me a thinkin' about how fight outcomes would be determined in this RP specially because it's not just about losing in this RP, it could also result in your character dying D:

Well, hopefully Alyss doesn't push Crimson too far. Alyss can be a bitch. :gonk: Though, she doesn't have any thoughts about personal gain in power. She just wants to work together for a common goal. :hmmm:

You decide between the two of you when battling, provided you are both at the same strength level (i.e. one element apiece)

You don't HAVE to kill the losing witch, though, you can choose simply to take her powers and enslave her. In fact, unless someone is dropping out, I'd prefer it if you didn't kill one another. xD

I am sorry to double post but I don't think mentions work right in edited posts.

Ravness Loxaerion I have an idea how you can join us. Perhaps one of the buildings that the huge oak tore through was your hostel building? Then you'd have to come out and meet me and souls character?

Martel? Am I correct in assuming that you just adjusting Alyss pheromone levels so that she's incredibly turned on? :wacky:

Next post should be interesting. :ryan:

o0PinkSquid0o

Maybe... I'm taking it that the hostel is close to the University, which means it's literally in Cambridge... Urgh. I'm not so sure about the geography of Britain. >.>

Hm... Guess I will, but not for now. I'll come up with something when I get the time, and read up on the recent posts.

You are :tehe:
Well, its more her own than it is Alyss' - she can affect others by line of sight, but she adjusts her own to provoke responses in her target, and then sends them their own little nudge so they react how she wants them to. She needs direct contact to turn people into mindless slaves completely dependant on their hormones, though.

Also, sleeping Martel was asleep at time of posting, sorry about the night-long wait :gonk:

And...where are our other four participants? :ahmed:

Okay. :wacky:

Hopefully you enjoy the next post. Looking forward to what happens. Though, just keep in mind Alyss won't break like that. It's going to take a touch... but if Poppy touches her to turn her into a slave, and Alyss touches her to paralyze her... would it cancel out? :gasp:

...

Poppy is the stronger of the two, since has a second element to call upon, but she IS soaking wet, and she isn't totally immune to powers of witches with only a single element. So...I'm not sure. If they touched, she'd probably leave Alyss with a lasting impression, but she wouldn't turn her into a slave outright, because of the jolt she'd get in response, which would upset her immensely.

I was planning on having Lily wake up soon and instinctively transport them both out of there. Perhaps she could accidently take Alyss with her as well? :britt:

Typo of the year; every year.

Ahem. :mokken:

Now that we've got that settled... I'm not sure about the whole teleporting thing. I'll have to think about it. :gonk:

Well, it isn't teleportation persay, more of a travelling through shadows thing. Like a pocket dimension. Being drawn into one place and then appearing instantaneously in another.

I'm going to have Lily wake up in my next post, and go insane in the next one/two posts after that. I dunno if you'd want Alyss to touch Poppy in that time or not, though~

Me thinks what I'll do is have Alyss accept the tea, and then make a jump for it. From there, you can have Lily wake up and teleport them. I take it that if Alyss ends up going with them, there's not going to be an exit strategy? :gasp:
