[SU/D] Children of Aether

For the sake of diversity, I'll switch out of the Lightning Elemental in favor of my Second Place Choice, Earth Elemental.

Of course, this'll mean I'm switching my Zweihander for a War-Hammer, but I do not mind.

Also, I have finished my bio and is ready for checking Frau Martelovska

Squid: I'm sure we'll think of something for you to do in the meantime :griin:
...you could always see the mess Poppy is making of Regent's Park on the news, although that might not be the best idea. xD

Galmski, DeeArr, you're both accepted. Moar Knights! :yay:

Lezard Valeth

I tried to reply to your PM but it wont let me hahaha
Anyway I really liked idea 3, because i am a fan of badguys but for now, until you create the metal witch I will have Crimson run into Heath and Tristana if that's ok :)

...balls, I forgot, I've blocked PMs for people who aren't on my contacts list. xD
Alrighty Squid, go with that for now, and I'll try and throw the Metal Witch into the mix over the weekend~

Double post, because this Ar Pee is slowly and inexorably dying :rage:

Since I haven't received a bio, and I am sick of waiting and pestering (and physically ill, so my patience is running at an all-time low) the Water Witch spot is now open for anyone who wants it. We need to throw some more characters into the mix, just so everyone has something to do. Unfortunately, tis a busy time of year for most people, buuut...:rage:

:yay:
Jess, you're accepted, and thanks for not forgetting~

Anyways, since a couple of others have taken interest in the Ar Pee, and since I had yet another brainwave, I was thinking of introducing a third faction into all this: Valkyries.

Valkyries would have their own patron Goddess, as well as their own element (Quintessence) which would grant them sufficient power to best a Witch or Knight with a single element in one-on-one combat. Although as Knights power comes from their swords, Valkyrie's would come primarily from their armour. They would use their True Names, since they'd been given over to their Goddess, and wouldn't be able to take another's powers if they bested them in combat. They would have the ability to merge their souls together, however, and double their powers. So, two Valkyries fused together would have slightly more power than a Witch with two elements.

There would be a grand total of five Valkyries at most. Two of the spots have already been reserved, and one of my Witches (I'm not saying which, though) would become the third over the course of the Ar Pee. That leaves two, for people already in it to take, or for people not yet participating to take. Valkyries would be female only, naturally...and there is a very good reason for this, as well.

For what I had in mind concerning the ultimate plotline of the RP, it could work, but I'd like to make sure people aren't going to object if I bring this in first. Hopefully, it'd bring in a couple more people, and some more intrigue...since only those playing as Valkyries would know exactly what they're about (you'd be PMed the details) and neither Witches or Knights would have prior knowledge of them.

I've kept much of the RP plotline in the dark for the moment, so I can adjust it depending on what people do, but a little more action is needed, I think...

Are we still suffering from a shortage of knights? If so.. I'm tempted to make one too. XD

Martelov Romanova, you drive a hard bargin, but it gives me an excuse to use one of my pre-planned characters, thank you...

Urgh. Would have taken a Valkyrie if it were up during the sign up, and if I were capable of coping with it. Guess not this time.

And, I'll get a post up later today. A lot of catching up to do >.>

BTW. Sorry if I'm mistaken, but Liseli, is your character up and still keen for interaction? As far as my character's concerned, she's still hiding in her hostel room.

yep yep, just drop me a PM or tell me here what you want to do XD I was going to start her posting in a coffee shop near where she works, but if you'd rather bump into her somewhere else, I'm cool with that. Lemme know <3

:hmmm: Can I reserve the witch of Darkness? I needed to ask considering it seems there was discussion about it earlier back, but I wanted to be sure . :gasp:
If not, I'll take the Water witch instead .

I do believe that Martel's taking her, though I'm not sure. :hmmm:

Yeah Martel is using that one, she just has her on the back burner now for a little while.

Alright. I was confused, is all about her, since it seems like she was on and off the reservation list. :wacky: I'll have a bio up for the Water witch sometime this week ~

You may indeed reserve Water, Meddy~

Both of my Witches are on the back burner at the moment...Poppy is lurking in Regent's Park waiting for DeeArr to make his new Witch, and Lily is crying somewhere in the pseudo-realm of darkness. xD

My bad for not updating the opening post...which I have just done, with Metal Witch powerz, and who is playing what :griin:

I'm still debating the viability of Valkyries, I'll keep you all posted on that. In the meantime, I hope to have the Metal Witch profile done over the weekend...

Liseli

I had my character, Desiree, head over to a coffee shop. Feel free to approach if you're still keen :D

OK, can I get a show of hands for Valkyries? Who would be interested in playing as one (there are four, excluding one of my witches, who would become one) or seeing them added in, etc etc~

Also, FINALLY finished the Metal Witch profile!

Alias: Eliza
True Name: Janeth
Age: 42
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Witch
Weapon: N/A
Element: Metal

Appearance: Eliza is 5’11”, and her erect figure makes her appear to be even taller than this. Straight-backed and severe, Eliza towers over others through sheer intimidation; no matter how fierce they make think themselves. She is extremely androgynous, and many people may, at first, mistake her to be male, given her authoritarian attitude and complete lack of femininity. The only remotely feminine characteristic she allows herself is her hair, which hangs loose around her shoulders, an iron grey. This does nothing, however, to soften her appearance: she has sharp, angular features that, whilst not boyish, have been hardened by years of frowning and grimacing, and fierce, penetrating blue eyes that few can meet the stare of for very long, and thin lips that seem to be forever compressed in a thin line, and have long forgotten how to smile.

Eliza’s usual daily attire is a plain grey suit with a long-sleeved white shirt; plain and unremarkable, yet crisp and smart, the sort of thing you might expect a corpse to be dressed in. A pair of brown leather shoes and white gloves complete the ensemble.

Eliza has an extremely large amount of metal on her: one plain titanium ring on the index and middle fingers of each hand, a copper wire lining within her jacket, metal plates on the bottom of her shoes, a silver chain around her neck, a metal-plated pen in her breast pocket, a Rolex watch (although she’d prefer never to use this as a weapon: whilst she could dismantle it and put it back together with ease, the price tag on it was approaching £20,000), and some reading glasses. She also carries a small pouch with her at all times, filled with either 5p coins or paperclips. Eliza’s paranoia (to be explained below) requires that she carry such a large quantity of metal.

Personality: As her appearance would suggest, Eliza is cold-hearted and callous; she has no interest in femininity, or anything associated with it. She has a very old-fashioned military attitude to things: any weakness, both internal and external, needs to be eliminated. She is a leader first and foremost, and commands respect. She will talk, and people will listen. There will be no questions, no talking back, and no deviation from what she has said. Eliza is extremely arrogant, but it is the tough arrogance of someone who has more than earned it; she does not believe anyone can know better than her, and most of the time she is right. She is not above listening to the ideas of other people, but once the decision has been made, that is final. She is short-tempered and irritable with others, proper, yet not polite. Politeness and respect are things that people give to her by default, because she has earned them. If they wish to earn the same token, they must prove their competence. If they do not, Eliza quickly becomes annoyed, and will either dismiss them outright (more than one manager has been seen leaving her office in tears after being verbally stripped down in this fashion) or treat them with burning contempt. Eliza has an acidic tongue and, whilst she is not overtly sarcastic, she delivers cutting remarks with the ferocity of physical blows.

Eliza is anything but stupid: she approaches problems logically and coldly, yet has learned to rely on her instincts during her work as a stockbroker, and she has something of a sixth sense for both business and people. She is cunning and is quite capable of subtlety…but, more often than not, she decides simply not to bother, when a blunt remark will suffice, and is much faster. Eliza values efficiency in everything; she takes no particular pride in being an absolute bitch to those around her, it is simply the fastest way to get the reaction she wants out of them. Word games are a waste of time for those who have time to waste, which does not include her, or anyone who would impose their presence upon her. Eliza has what could be called a very negative attitude to other people: she recognises their importance, but she doesn’t like it. Other people, to her, are a liability she can ill afford.

Despite her cold iron personality, Eliza has one fatal flaw: paranoia. Having spent her entire life on her guard, she sees danger from every corner, has a fundamental distrust in anyone else she comes across under the age of sixteen, and takes this to extreme lengths: with the amount of metal she carries on her at all time and ingests in her diet, she could probably de-populate half the city. Her paranoia has led the accidental death of more than one of her staff members, who find themselves either writhing on the ground with dozens of jagged holes in their bodies, or a single coin embedded in their skull. Eliza’s paranoia only intensifies in open spaces: she is an acute agoraphobic, and refuses to venture outside the confines of either a city or a metallic structure (i.e. a plane) for any reason. In an open space, without metal around her, she will use what metal she has on her to kill anyone and everyone in the surrounding area, to make sure that she is alone and therefore safe until she can make her way back into civilisation. If she has no metal upon her, she becomes extremely edgy until she reaches breaking point, at which point she’ll turn herself into a magnet, attempting to pull anything, even passing aircraft, down to her. Eliza is highly dependent upon the presence of metal in order to feel secure, without the, she crumbles immediately and descends into what can only be described as frenzy.

Bio: Eliza was the eldest of two, born two years before her younger sister, in Brighton. Both of her parents were tax consultants, and Eliza developed a keen interest in business from an early age, becoming something of a career girl: her father was delighted at her interest, and mapped out her entire education for her. Her mother died giving birth to her younger sister, and Eliza strongly resented the girl from that moment onwards, blaming her for her mother’s death, despite her father telling her otherwise. She affected a cold indifference to her sister, treating her as a pest and, generally, making her life absolutely miserable…out of her father’s way, of course.

On her 16th birthday, Eliza was visited by the Horned King and granted the ability to control metal. Rather than be terrified by this, she accepted it immediately, and began planning its practical applications. Of the other witches, she was not particularly concerned – after all, what were the odds of finding another one?

As it so happened, the odds of this were quite high. Her younger sister, when she turned 16 two years later, became the Witch of Fire, and she quickly made a move by trying to stab Eliza whilst she slept; Eliza had gradually accepted that her sister was not responsible for her mother’s death as she grew older, and treated her with a grudging tolerance, yet her sister was bitter and twisted by this point. She repelled this attack quite easily – after all, a knife is hardly an effective weapon to use against a witch who can bend metal to her will, and she had felt the Horned King’s presence that evening, and was extremely wary – yet the commotion they caused when they started using their powers woke their father. In the chaos that followed, her sister killed their father, burned the entire block of flats they lived in to the ground, and drew the attention of the fire department, the police…and then the Knights, who swiftly overwhelmed her, dismembering her and dumping a terrified (but smart enough not to use her powers once the Knights showed up) Eliza into a foster home, left there to contemplate events. This lasted for a torturous year, before she left College and entered University in Blackpool, studying Business and Economics, as her father had intended.

The next four years were the best of Eliza’s life: she made close friends who would later become important business and political contacts, took a gap year in a firm that she would later take over and build the foundations of her company around and, whilst she could never stop looking over her shoulder for witches, she found that she felt extremely secure in the city, a self-confidence that denied her paranoia: the city was filled with metal. This was her territory, and no witch could take her on here. She felt almost invincible; confident that she could build up a life without having any power-hungry maniacs ruin it for her.

Eliza spent four years in Blackpool after she graduated, working as a moderately successful stockbroker and Financial Manager, living a relatively comfortable life. She met her boyfriend, Arthur, in her third year after graduating, and the two become close extremely quickly after that, becoming engaged within four months. However, things quickly fell apart after this: Eliza discovered that she was unable to have children and, believing it to be a by-product of her witch powers, she told Arthur about them. Needless to say, this did not have the effect she desired: Arthur flew into a frenzy and, in the argument that followed, she killed him, reacting instinctively after he threw a wine bottle at her (the cutlery not working) in anger.

Eliza earned her reputation amongst the Order of the Grey Goddess as a Knight killer shortly after this event, the most dangerous of all the witches (to them, at least) for, as many of the Knight’s weapons are made of metal, she can manipulate these weapons, drawing them to her or pushing them away from her – a feat that she demonstrated when she was cornered by two Knights after mugging a bystander on the street whilst they were on patrol. Tearing one of the Knight’s swords out of his hands, she then proceeded to butcher him and his companion with both her own powers and those of his sword. What would follow was a string of pitched, bloody encounters as the Knights despatched their best in teams of three and four, patrolling the streets for any sign of her. Eliza cared little about Knights at this point, or even other witches, awash with grief over the death of the man she had loved, a death that she had directly caused.

After she had calmed down somewhat – the blood of several Knights on her hands – Eliza fled the country, leaving for America. Although she was positive that she had murdered all of the Knights who had seen her face, with her common sense also returned her fear that other witches, alerted to her activity, would descend upon her in droves. At this point, Eliza was mired in the beginnings of a depression that would last for nearly a decade, and desired one thing only: a quiet life. She boarded the first plane bound for Chicago, leaving what remained of her old life behind.
The next four years of Eliza’s life were the hardest, most depraved she would live. Were it not for her abilities to manipulate metal, she would likely have died. As it was, she stole just enough to get herself by each day, gambling heavily and selling herself to pay off the slowly-increasing debts. Often, she would wake up in her apartment with no idea how she had got there, a throbbing pain in her head and between her legs, the carpet and her body saturated with stale alcohol, vomit, and whatever she had tried to eat the night before, prompting her to simply step in the shower, find some money to get a cleaner to sort her room out, and then begin the process all over again.

Eliza turned her life around again in her fifth year in Chicago, after a particularly heavy night of drinking and drugs. Her father, sister, fiancé, and the Horned King himself manifested before her, berating her for her choices in life: and, to add insult to injury, she woke up, disturbingly sober, naked in a back alley with two men she had never even seen (or, rather, she had no recollection of) lying next to her. That was the final straw and, within the week, Eliza had cleared all of her debts, mostly cleaned herself up (she found that, despite her excessive drinking over the last four years, she had suffered no ill effects…leading her to wonder precisely how much of her recovery had been natural.) and was working again as a stockbroker. She managed to make considerable sums within the first three years, enough to invest in the company she had previously worked in, and then buy it out. After that initial hurdle, Eliza began what others would describe as “world domination” as she merged her company with others by whatever means necessary, demolishing their structure entirely in the process. She re-established her contacts within business and parliament, gaining new allies in the US senate, and even going so far as to gain access to the American branch of the Order of the Grey Goddess.

Seventeen years later, after she had built up her empire in America, Eliza decided it was time for her to return to the United Kingdom. Using her now extensive contacts within the American branch of the Order, Eliza probed quite delicately, to see if they were still hunting for her. It turned out that they had almost entirely forgotten about her, and were instead hunting another witch: the Nature Witch. It was presumed that she was the one who had killed those Knights all those years ago – as they had never glimpsed either Eliza or this other witch, they had no way of knowing the two were not the same – and, judging from the newspaper reports, she had been leaving a trail of bloody corpses all across London. Eliza became concerned at this point, unsure as to whether or not the Witch was of a new generation, or the elder one, and had acquired all the elements and was looking for her to complete her set. She decided not to act upon these leads, although she watched carefully for signs of other witches, especially amongst her new graduate employees. She would act to rid the world of the Witch plague when the time was right, and not before…

I'll be introducing her around where Crimson is, so the two can interact and get away from the Knights, etc etc. I was thinking we could all meet up around where Poppy is...unleashing merry hell. If everyone is alright with moving towards that goal, of course~

I don't know if I would make a Valkyrie (I hate playing multiple characters in one RP, I'm so shit at it :ffs:) but I would love to see them. It sounds pretty interesting.
