The Paths of Tragedy

"Feh" Entas sated unknowing to himself, his kick missed its target, but it damaged his weapon more. Hopefully that would make for an upper hand later on.
"This squirrel is no joke. He is really skilled" Entas thought to himself. Somewhere deep in his mind, he had foreseen this, but before it was proven, he refused to believe it. Now he knew.

Shortly after Entas withdrew his foot, and planted it back onto the sand, Felldoh had rolled around, and the damaged weapon was en route towards Entas' torso. He used the scythe to deflect it, which in turn made a deep cut in it, that particular spear, should be rather F'ed up by now.

As Entas focused back on Felldoh, he noted that the other spear was aimed towards him as well. But this time, Felldoh was behind it.
The discovery was made late by a fraction of a second. Entas brought up the scythe, in the hopes of blocking it. He blocked with a a part of the handle, that lodged itself in the branches that stuck out. He managed to down the force somewhat, but Felldoh had too much behind him.
The spear buried itself deep in Entas' left arm, making preside movement somewhat painful. Not to mentioned a slow but steady flow of crimson colored substance began dripping.

Entas pushed away with all his might, using mostly his right arm. Combining it with a strong backwards jump. He landed not too far from the broken spear.
He looked at his wound, and back to Felldoh.
Entas needed a plan, something that would give him the edge in the fight.

He thought for a second, and smiled.
Suddenly the small door opened on Entas' right side of the visor, and within a few seconds, the Choppercam was released ((see images and info in bio)).
As it took off, Entas picked up the broken spear.
He took the scythe in his right hand, and cut of the broken part of the spear, leaving only the pain point (throwing tip) and a few of the spikes.
After that, he turned the grip of the scythe, so that the chain came out of the "top" of the handle, and the scythe blade on the bottom, pointing out from under his hand.
The Choppercam should give him the edge in locations, and the movement of Felldoh.

He started spinning the chain, while holding the spear in his left, damaged, hand.
He spun it more slowly, but stronger in the turns. Suddenly, he spun around himself as he jumped, to get the most of the centrifugal force. As he landed, he brought all the collected force, in that one strike. It was aimed so, that the weight itself, should hit Felldoh. If he did not avoid it.

Cairn let his eyes run free across the crowded arena, and onto the section were he sighted Hera Ledro and Brome. The old knight smiled and sighed, he knew his battle with Hera Ledro was drawing near. Out of curiosity, Cairn thought prudent to have a simple conversation with Hera Ledro and Brome while the battle between Felldoh and Entas continued. Only a few seats to his left, Cairn stood up and went down stairs, then walked towards the section were Hera Ledro and Brome were.

After a few minutes, Cairn managed to arrive at Hera Ledro's and Brome's presence, and with much courtesy, Cairn greeted them and sat on a free seat next to Hera Ledro. "Good Afternoon Sir Brome, and Sir Hera Ledro. I see you've both been paying much attention to this battle. This battle is proving to be quite entertaining, for I am impressed with what I've witnessed so far, Master Felldoh's skills in the art of the spears are simply professional." Cairn folded his arms across his chest and fixed his eyes on the battlefield, following the fighters movements with his sight.

((Oi, Fox, I have an idea for you. What if, once each tourney fight finishes, Jonad and a group of healers heal the contestants? That way, no matter who wins or loses, the person can come back and watch the next match. No fatalities, no permanent casualties.))

Felldoh was impressed. His foe was a cunning one. Felldoh made a mental note of his opponent's improvisation: the spear-chain was a very unique fighting tool, and was excellent improvisation on Entas' part. It showed that his foe did not allow his mind to be clouded by physical injuries, which was an excellent tool.

But that was not the most stunning part of the battle. Felldoh stood, slack-jawed, as the right side of Entas' visor lifted up and away. What is he? Felldoh thought, a slight chill running down his spine. He hadn't been exposed to these kinds of technology before in his life.

Felldoh was brought back to reality as his foe jumped into the sky, whirling in a quick circle. This was a battle that would be talked about for ages, as well as the manoeuvres that the combatants were using.

Especially this one. Allowing his instincts to take over, Felldoh side-stepped to the left as his foe landed. The chain-spear whistled past Felldoh, right where his chest had been two seconds earlier.

Felldoh jumped back. He landed right where he'd placed his cache of spears. With one spear gone, Felldoh grabbed another with his left. He didn't withdraw it from the earth, though. Instead, he looked at his foe intently.

"You're not bad, matey," Felldoh called. "I've got an idea. What d'you say we fight with no weapons? It looks like we're at a stalemate with these, so maybe our skills would be better tested paw-to-paw? Well, paw-to-hand, I guess." Felldoh chuckled. The heat of the battle was upon him, and he was not about to give up. He needed to test himself, so what better way to do so than to fight without aid?

* * *

Brome shook his head, amazed. "Wait until Felldoh unleashes Bloodwrath." He said, sniggering.

Jake and Hera looked at Brome intently. "Bloodwrath?" they asked in unison.

Brome nodded. "It's something that some creatures can get into when they're angry, or if the battle is extremely intense." Scratching his large ear thoughtfully, he reconsidered. "I suppose you could call it an adrenaline boost, mateys, or whatever that stuff is. But I've seen it happen, and not even that can match up to Bloodwrath."

"Bloodwrath is a mental and a physical state which warriors can get into. While in Bloodwrath, your strength, speed, reflexes, and so on are multiplied by a lot. It's what allowed Felldoh to take down an entire horde on his own."

Hera's eyebrows were raised, and if one didn't know any better, they would think that there were no eyebrows, only a hairline. "You weren't joking about that?"

"Of course not," Brome scoffed. "He killed off Badrang, the tyrant that had enslaved us, and then kept going on the horde. There were hundreds of the vermin! Keyla and a few others helped, but by the time they got there, more than half of the horde had been slain."

Hera looked at Jake. "Maybe this guy is tougher than we thought?" Jake nodded.

"Wow," the young hybrid muttered. "He's...holy crap..."

"The only reason Felldoh and I are here is because we got banished from Noonvale. Well...Felldoh got banished, but he's my best mate, and I wasn't just going to leave him. I decided to go with him. Eventually, we came to a cave. After we went through, we found ourselves here, and couldn't go back. So, we built a home and lived our lives from there."

Hera reconsidered. Maybe there really was more to Felldoh than he thought. If so, he would need to pay extra attention to the squirrel's match. If he ended up fighting Felldoh, he wouldn't make the mistake of underestimating him.

"Good Afternoon Sir Brome, and Sir Hera Ledro. I see you've both been paying much attention to this battle. This battle is proving to be quite entertaining, for I am impressed with what I've witnessed so far, Master Felldoh's skills in the art of the spears are simply professional."

Hera turned. Seated next to him was Cairn. "Ah, Cairn," Hera said, returning his focus to the battle. "Yes, this is something that I am no less than baffled by. I don't know if you heard Brome, but apparently Felldoh hasn't even gotten started yet. There's a lot more that he can do than he's letting on..."

"Ah, indeed I've heard, his comments about Felldoh's abilities caught my attention as well. It is kind of hard to believe to see someone so calmed as Felldoh to have such power."

Cairn watched with eagerly as Felldoh somehow have just challenged Entas to a no-weapons- battle, most likely known as "hand to hand" (or hand to paw in this case) combat. Was he confident enough to fight unarmed? Cairn wondered as he analyzed the pros and cons of this battle. Though Entas seemed bigger with a stronger build, his heavy weight would somehow prove to be a disadvantage against Felldoh, who was lighter and faster. Even though Entas fists would hit harder, Felldoh would probably use the best offense; the defense combined with counter attacking.

Even though the odds were even, Cairn could not tell fore sure who could get the upper hand between these two, and was simply limited to be a mere spectator. Suddenly, his mind shifted once more to the upcoming battle; his match against Hera Ledro. Sure his sword had already stored the elemental powers of Darkness, Fire and Water, but would that be enough against someone as unpredictable as Hera Ledro? Cairn couldn't tell any weak point in Hera Ledro's seemingly flawless defense, yet he knew he would find an opening, or at least, he hoped to find it. In addition, Cairn did not knew if the elements he had within his blade would prove to be effective (or ineffective) against Hera Ledro's magical shielding. It was like fighting depending fortune to do the trick! For now, Cairn's main concern was to focus on a way to keep up against Hera Ledro during their battle; one mistake would surely mean to give his opponent the upper hand.

With his focus back to the current battle and at the same time concentrating on his situation, Cairn relaxed his muscles and cleared his thoughts, meditating about his own challenge which proved to be the biggest battle of his life.

"Hera Ledro, I expect you to not hold back just because I am a human." Cairn sighed and closed his eyes, then opened them to fix his sight on the sky. "This battle is made to make warriors true immortals, and I always take these tournaments seriously. I will fight as if my life were to depend on this battle. This is the beginning of our adventure, and many things will change after this tournament. We will face perilous paths and seemingly unbearable quests, even to the point of risking our lives. I know that I am willing to sacrifice my life for the sake of this land." With a serious and deep reasoning clearly shown as a small glimmering light on his eyes, Cairn stared at the seemingly endless battle before addressing again to Hera Ledro. "I know my role, and I'll play it to the bitter end. Promise me, that when the time comes, you will play your role and do what you have to do. That is all, enjoy the battle." Cairn remained silent, his words proved to be somehow confusing yet enlightening somehow. What did Cairn knew? His words seemed the same words of a dying man, or someone knowing this quest would cost him something irreplaceable. Cairn was prepared, but; what about the others?

OOC: Hmm. I might make a dual post about that later, adding Jonad as a temporary healer.
Though, to be honest, I might kill him off (more info in sign-up after this post)
----------------------------------

As the dust settled, Entas realized that he missed by a very small degree. Even if Entas was not looking at Felldoh, he knew his location due to he Choppercam, which most of the arena guests and Felldoh, seemed to be somewhat confused about. Not unusual, as it was technology from a few thousand years into the future.

As Felldoh gained the same location as his pre-placed spears, he asked a rather uncommon, yet somewhat logical, question.
The request was for them to go hand-to-paw, as he put it.
Entas stood up, the chain idly lying on the ground, as he thought about it.

As he put it, they where fairly even in the usage of their weapons, even thought through time, Felldoh would most likely be the winner. This was due
to the fact that Felldoh had trained, and honed his skills. While Entas used a on-the-fly made battle program.
All in all, Entas should have an increased chance in brute force. Though, this is where technique and speed entered. No doubt the squirrel was faster the Entas. Even considering the heightened response of the Visor.
He could focus all process capabilities into reaction, and let the visor feed the attacks into his brain. But that would make him loose control slightly.

He thought about it for approx a whole minute, and the fact stood. Even in hand to hand, even considering the speed he should have. Entas still had a better chance in hand-to-hand.

"Yeah, you state a valid point." Entas replied, "Also, if we go hand to ha.. Paw. I don't have to destroy more of you're spears" He smiled.
"Your request is agreed" Entas stated, as he took a steps away from Felldoh.
He curled up the chain, and threw it towards the 'outer ring' of the arena.
The spear part he had in his hand, followed as well.
He ripped a part of the remnants of the cloak that he was not too far from, and used it to bandage his wound. If nothing else, it should slow the bleeding.

Entas took a stance, his feet a shoulders with apart, and his fists at roughly 'chest' level, the left one slightly more ahead the the right, as the right shoulder was slightly ahead as well.

"Whenever you're ready" Entas stated, as he had already switched 'battle-mode' on the visor.

Felldoh grinned widely. He stuck his right spear into the ground and cracked his neck. "Great. Let's see what you can do, matey." Felldoh cracked his knuckles and spread his paws out, flexing his claws. He widened his stance.

"Whenever you're ready," Entas called. Felldoh chuckled.

Without further prompting, Felldoh shot after his foe on all fours. It wasn't something Felldoh usually did, but he needed to be as unpredictable as possible. Against a foe like this, there was nothing to be gained with brute strength. It was only grudgingly that Felldoh accepted this: he liked to fight with his brawn.

As he closed in on his foe, Felldoh made a large jump, pushing off with all fours and soaring 10 feet into the air (his back legs did a lot of the work). He landed right behind his opponent and whirled around, thrusting his claw for Entas' left shoulder.

* * *

"Hera Ledro, I expect you to not hold back just because I am a human." Hera noticed Cairn sigh. He looked towards the man, slightly intrigued. I know that I am willing to sacrifice my life for the sake of this land." Cairn shifted his gaze, staring towards the battle. "I know my role, and I'll play it to the bitter end. Promise me, that when the time comes, you will play your role and do what you have to do. That is all, enjoy the battle."

Turning back to the battle himself, Hera nodded. "I wouldn't dream of holding back on you, and I would expect you to extend the same courtesy."

He decided not to reply to a few Cairn's latter statements. Hera was not one to believe in destiny; it was illogical and improbable, more often than not a way of making oneself feel more important than what they really were.

"I promise one thing, Cairn. I won't die here, but I will do what I have to do to defeat any evil I come across. Just remember one thing: even if one has a destiny, they can change it."

Entas had predicted Felldoh to be quick, but that was an understatement.
he slightly regretted the agreement of the hand-to-paw fight. Even thought he thought his chances where larger.

Considering the facts, Entas had a larger body, a stronger punch. But what good was that if he could not hit his target.

As Felldoh jumped, Entas was slight in awe, even thought he did have the hind legs for it, it was still a remarkable feat.
Entas shook his head, to get out of the trance like state he had entered.
And he turned around, only to be greeted by a set of claws. Entas had only turned around in a single motion, that has to be the reason for the shallow cuts that emerged. Even though small, the cuts where painful, but he could not let pain take over.

As he was turning around, he feigned a back-hand strike that was aimed slightly to high. But followed up with a side kick, aimed at Felldoh's torso.

"Hera's right, Cairn," Wylliam remarked, not taking his eyes from the combatants, but allowing his grin to grow even wider, "keep talking about 'the end', and it'll come sooner than it should. There is no romance in death. True romance only exists in living life and loving every minute of it. Talking about being 'willing to sacrifice yourself' is akin to betting against yourself." Wylliam managed to tear his gaze away from the fight and look down the row to Cairn, confidence and the joy of life radiating from his face. "Sure there's honor in dying for what you believe in, just don't forget the value of your own life when protecting the lives of others. If you sacrifice yourself with all the compassion of all the Martyrs combined, how do you think we would feel after losing such a dear friend? Sometimes, the will to live is the greatest weapon a warrior has." Satisfied, Wylliam returned his eyes to the match.

-----------------------------

A few rows back, still enshrouded by his robe, Skaol smiled a sweet, sad smile. That was the very speech he had given to Wylliam when they had just started training together as Knights Apprentices. Wylliam had been so enthralled with the idea of attaining the status of the Martyrs that Skaol feared he would do something stupid. While Wylliam proceeded to do several stupid things, Skaol was pleased that running out and needlessly sacrificing himself was not one of them.

Felldoh may have been quick, but he wasn't quick enough.

He shot his hands up to block the back-hand, only to discover that it was a feint, a distraction, nothing but a fake. This was further confirmed by a sound strike to the torso.

The attack sent him flying a few feet back, lifting him off the ground with his back parallel to it. Though the pain was intense, Felldoh steeled himself and whirled his body around, so that his front was facing the ground. As he fell, Felldoh curled his body and used the momentum of his foe's attack to power a roll. He rolled several times and pushed upwards with his forepaws, flipping into the air and landing on the ground, skidding to a halt in the dirt.

Felldoh knelt and coughed up a little blood. "Nice one matey," Felldoh grunted. "That was a good one." Wiping the blood from his mouth with his arm, he stared hard at his foe. Entas was a warrior of skill: nothing to be trifled with, for sure. But everything had a weakness.

"Let's go!" Felldoh roared. He pumped his legs, pushing all of his pain out of his mind. If this battle didn't end soon, Bloodwrath would come.

* * *

"Nice," Hera said, smiling broadly at Felldoh's manoeuver. "Felldoh is taking advantage of everything he can. You could learn from him Jake." Jake shot Hera a dirty look before returning to cheering on Felldoh with Brome.

"Pfft. Felldoh's got no chance against a big guy like Entas." Hera turned around to see a man glaring at the squirrel. "He's nothing but an animal." The man said nothing more, as he was silenced with a punch to the face. Jake stood over the body of the man, who was staring disbelievingly at the kid that had laid him flat.

"Shut up," Jake spat. "Have trouble thinking of people different than humans?" In a blaze, Jake transformed into a Dragon, eyeing the man coldly. "How does a Dragon sound to you, buddy?"

The man got up and fled, cupping his bleeding nose. Jake was about to go after him, but Hera held him back with his tail. Jake tugged a little, but sat down resignedly, reverting to human form.

"There was no need for that, Jake," Hera said.

"He was pissy because Felldoh was a squirrel, and not a human. I'm not going to sit down and let that happen."

Brome shrugged. "We've had it a lot, but most people don't seem to be to upset with how we look."

Entas felt lucky. Though, skill and luck are often mixed around.
Regardless of what it was, his feint succeeded. The squirrel rolled back quite the distance. Entas was used to work with heavier opponents.
The light frame of Felldoh, was a weakness, as well as an advantage.
Just as one can not hit a balloon to hard, as its light weight will be moved before the whole energy can transfer, as would Felldoh have a slight advantage.
But, at the same time, there is a limit to what a light frame can do in brute force. Save the 'cutting' effect the claws does.

Entas was not going to let this get to his head, as Felldoh had already started a charge towards Entas.
Entas lowered his point of gravity, by crouching slightly as he leaned forward.
Then kicked off.

The 2 combatants where now en route towards each other. Entas had a weakness, his damaged left arm. It was not completely useless, but it was 'damaged' nonetheless.
As Entas got closer, he was going to try something unusual.
He suddenly dropped to a slide, and use the 'dust cloud' to cover for his attack. His idea was to use a set of 3 strong punches, aimed mainly at his upper torso.

"We make our own fate...yet sometimes we play along with this little drama we call "life", with the world as the scenario created by the divine beings, an area in which we play our roles. But enough of this conversation and our concerns, let us enjoy this battle."

...For I know that I will give it all to ensure the safety of this land. Cairn said to himself as he smiled and closed his eyes, the expression of his face depicting somehow a calmed and determined soul. He slowly opened his eyes, revealing a pair of shining hazel irises fixed on the heated battle. The battle, Cairn noticed, seemed to be unfolding in Felldoh's favor, the odds of the new condition of hand-to-paw combat established by both fighters proved to be placing the odds against Entas.

In the mid of battle, Cairn could not avoid hearing the derogatory comments coming from an stranger towards one of the contestants, as well as Jake's typical explosive nature. Cairn smiled, sighing without removing his eyes from the current battle. "Jake, sometimes patience and tolerance are greater virtues than power and dominance, and for the same reason tolerance and patience are somehow harder to obtain, and even more difficult to master." Cairn commented addressing to Jake with a advising tone, and soon he completed his statement "In short, try to control yourself next time and save your energy for later, you'll need it for your battle against that man" He finished with much concern about the mysterious aura of malice surrounding Jake's opponent, the Unknown Warrior they've met moments ago.

Hejaloki made it to the arena. He disguised himself as a traveler from a distant land. He was dressed in a all white outfit. It had a hood and mask so all someone could see was his eyes. He had a sash with runes on it.

He was walking around the arena. He spied Armgeddon else where, as he couldn't hide from Hejaloki. Hejaloki thought it best not interfere until he figured out the necklace mystery.

Hejaloki stopped right in front of Cairn. Blocking his sight.

Felldoh saw a window of opportunity. His foe had moved into a sort of foot-first dive, kicking up dust in an attempt to distract Felldoh. Or at least, that's how Felldoh viewed it.

It wasn't difficult for him to counter it either. The red mist of battle was in his eyes, and his focus was absolute. This was no Bloodwrath, but it was a step into the transcension.

With a great cry, Felldoh jumped into the air. Placing all his might into his legs, he forced himself downward at an incredible speed, footpaws aimed for where his sliding opponent's moving torso was.

* * *

"Jake, sometimes patience and tolerance are greater virtues than power and dominance, and for the same reason tolerance and patience are somehow harder to obtain, and even more difficult to master."

Jake glared at Cairn. "Tolerance is the reason I did that. He was intolerant of others, so I showed him what the 'other' can do."

"Cairn's right, Jake," Hera interjected. "You should be more tolerant of people. You're an atheist, but you don't go around preaching to other people that there is no god. It's the same way with all opinions; you have yours, they have theirs, leave it at that. Of course, once it gets out of hand, and people's lives are in danger, interfere all you want."

Jake huffed and turned back to the battle, surly-faced. Both of them were right, even if he didn't like it. Brome clapped a paw on Jake's shoulder. "Cheer up, matey. Look: Felldoh's about to win the fight!" Jake looked towards the battle and smiled. If Felldoh's attack landed, it would certainly be a painful endeavour for Entas.

Noticing the inexplicable and rude action made by the strange traveler, Cairn felt an urge to ask the man, courteously, to step aside. "Sir, I believe you are limiting my view. Would you mind moving aside?" Though he did not mind moving himself, Cairn considered the man's actions as some kind of lack of respect towards him. Feeling insulted, Cairn awaited for an apologize, believing that the man had, at least, some manners.

Hejaloki looked over his shoulder at Cairn and said, "Sorry, good sir." As he turned his head back his eyes gave off a brief flash of light. Something Cairn might notice.

Then Hejaloki took a few steps to his right still watching the fight. Allowing Cairn to watch the fight. Hejaloki thought of the skill of these two fighters.

(You might notice his eyes. =D)

Zeria noticed this mysterious new person and moved, almost stealthily, next to them. Something drew her to this person and made her want to ask questions. She turned to them abruptly and put her hand out to shake.

"I'm Zeria Iiyasei, SeeD Class S. I'm fighting next against Wylliam. So who might you be, my friend? I find it hard to believe I didn't notice you earlier when I was studying all of the combatents"

Of course Hejaloki was in disguise so he had to keep it that way.

"I am Vistral, Oracle of the Moon. I am here to observe the tournament."

He reached out and shook her hand.

Mainly Hejaloki was here to observe possible mortals who could succeed against Armgeddon when the time comes to pass.

As he entered the warrior's chambers, Arthvader took the time to study his competition. it was kinda disappointed for the fact that he hasn't encountered Lucius, yet. Instead, He sees Zeria and he who goes by the name of Vistral. Wanting to know more about him, Arthvader approached him, his energy slowly radiating around him as he approaches the Oracle. "Hello, Vistral. I've heard many things about you and your travels. It's a pleasure meeting you. I'm Arthvader. Let's get to know each other more, okay?"

Even with the choppercam, and the visor on 'Infra red' mode, he could see Felldoh clearly.
Still, even with that, he was not fast enough to avoid the squirrel. It seemed that Felldoh had gotten a severe adrenaline kick, or something of a simmilar nature.
As Entas realized it was too late to avoid the attack, he instead braced himself, tightening his muscles, and preparing to gram hold of the incoming legs.

As Felldoh closed in, Entas missed the legs due to the increased speed. And Felldoh's attack landed with full power on Entas' chest. A fair deal pf blood was shot out of his mouth in the following cough. The pain was immense.

Entas twisted himself away, taking the squirrel of his chest. He stood on all 4, coughing up more amounts of the life giving substance.
He quickly checked his ribs, they where sore so it was hard to 'feel' them, but he had other ways of checking.
The final result revealed no broken bones, but a crack ((I think it is called fracture, NOT broken, but a crack in it)), it was painful, but not enough to take him out of the battle.
Entas thoguth to himself, that he missed the morfin injections they cave one at the infirmary back in his own time.

But this was not the time to think back, or technically ahead.
Entas got back in his feet, and stretched, to do his best to be used to this.
He turned to Felldoh "Dude, no offense, but that was way harder then I expected of you. Nice call on my attack" he smiled, trying to still keep this as a battle, not slaughter.

He stretched for a second, until he got 'used to the pain'
Then he attacked. He was not going to do any funky feints, nor any special moves. This time, he was going to simply attack.
As distance was covered, and get got close enough, he started a series of string punches, aimed at Felldoh's body and head/face. And finished it off with a side kick.

Hejaloki looked over his shoulder at Cairn and said, "Sorry, good sir." As he turned his head back his eyes gave off a brief flash of light. Something Cairn might notice.

Cairn accepted the apologies and took back his seat, fixing his attention once more on the battlefield. Though the mysterious man named Vistral seemed to be trustworthy so far, still Cairn could sense something odd in the man's mysterious and intriguing stare. His eyes shined with a particular glimmer, obviously nor human neither demonic. Not troubling himself much with it, Cairn decided to not mind about the shadowy aura surrounding Vistral, and instead opted to concentrate on the battle.
