The Paths of Tragedy

After five minutes, Karne finished his tea. He exits the tavern, then he starts to look around. To see where colosseum is. He notices a big building across some houses, so he thinks that must be the colosseum.
As he was walking there, he looks around and wonders the peacefulness of the village. The only noise made was either a crying baby or some kids playing knights.

"I wonder, why is there a colosseum in this nice and peaceful village?"

After awhile he arrived in front of the entrance to colosseum building. When he entered, he arrived in a hexagonal room with some pillars and statues in the center.
He walks around to the place. It was full with warriors and mages. But there were more warriors. Karne stops on the left of the pillars and looks around to find a colosseum administrator. He sees a guy sitting at desk with some papers. Karne approaches him and asks him...

"Are you a colosseum administrator?"

Guy didn't look at Karne, but was looking at some papers. He replies, without looking at Karne...

"Yes I am. If you want to sign up, here is the application."

Administrator puts the application paper in front of Karne, and a pen too. Karne fills the application. As he did, the colosseum administrator takes the paper and examines it. Then he says, again without looking shaolin...

"Ok...Karne Romanor...we will let you know who is your next opponent."

Shaolin turns around and walks away from the administrator's desk.

ooc>:(Rene, that may be true but you were still running towards them, that's all. :P

As Damian saw his opponent begin to weaken he readied himself for the finishing blow, if he could weaken his foe just a little bit more he could finish the battle here and now. But he daren't push himself too far or he may overexhaust himself.

Holding his staff in front of Rene again, Damian prepared to gather his energy to end this battle, after a split second he knew the most effective way to end the battle without causing himself to strain too much. "I suppose I shall end this now... This was a fun battle, I suppose..." Damian then raised his staff towards the sky again and prepared to chant. "I call forth the power of lightning, hear my voice and answer my call, send my foe to defeat, Storm!" After announcing his spell a thunder cloud appeared in his left hand and slowly expanded till half of his body was masked by the sheer size of the cloud, then 7 lightning bolts erupted from the cloud and charged towards Rene, after the 7 bolts of lightning had left the cloud the cloud shrank, only just staying there for the lightning to reach its destination. "I suppose this is it, pity it couldn't last longer... I fear this battle will swiftly end... Though who will win is anybody's guess..." As Damian said this he clutched his bullet wound with his left hand, his vision was beginning to blur, if this attack didn't finish Rene off then Rene would propably win.

ooc: Aye that may be, but experiment with this, if you're in part of your body is in a flame for a split second then you don't actually get burnt :wacky: Go on try it :D

IC: Rene gasped, he quickly rolled sidewards as the first bolt struck the ground where he had previously been. He raised his sword and felt the strong impact of lightning against blade and thanked whatever god was looking over him as the rubber grip on the hilt of his blade saved him from being killed. He jumped forwards as two more lightning bolts struck the ground behind him leaving only 3. He quickly found himself behind Damien. He kicked him hard in the back.

As his foot connected with Damien's back Rene felt a lightning bolt hit less than 1 metre away from him. He was thrown forward by the blast. He smashed into Damien and pulled him along as they were thrown into the wall they were facing.

"Bet you... weren't... expecting that huh?" Rene groaned painfully as he fell backwards onto the ground.

Karne manages to get to the part of colosseum where people could watch the fight between the contestants, on the east part. Just as he arrived he sees the two contestants slam the wall at the same time.

"Interesting, this battle could end up in a draw."

Shaolin looks around for a free chair. He couldn't see any, so he decides to to lean back on a wall behind all of the chairs.

As Damian collided with the wall, he could feel his body breaking in places due to his fragile form and blood trickled from his head and legs. With what little adrenaline remained he rose to his feet and since he was too weak to cast spells he held his staff in both hands and slammed its head into Rene's neck. His face was engulfed in blood and he bore a raging look in his eye, any more attacks and he was pretty much beat.

Renes entire body shook as the head of Damien's staff slammed into his neck. The blow threw him backwards and he fell harshly onto the hard ground. With the little strength Rene had left. He pulled out his gun and fired the last bullet in it's chamber. A knockout bullet he kept for times like these.

His entire body was completely exhausted, his clothes were torn and burnt and his arms, legs and face were covered in dust and blood.

As the KO bullet sped towards Damien, Rene felt himself go light headed, he closed his eyes and awaited whatever would happen.

As Damian prepared to fall, with no energy left he collapsed to the floor. But before he reached it, he was shot by Rene in the stomach which slammed him into the wall before he lost conciousness. As he hit the floor and the dust settled, a silence filled the arena until a bright white sphere appeared 10ft above the center of the arena.

As the light began to fade, a figure dropped from the light in numerous somersaults till he hit the ground, he wore a white gown and had a strange weapon across his back. He had a strange air about him, but before he could turn to face Damian he looked upwards as a large black being appeared in the sky and slammed into the arena floor. Cain Delvo had reappeared.

As Rornal saw the threat that had appeared, he knew what must be done and generated a huge barrier around the arena.

Rornal unsheathed his sword and walked towards the dusty area where Cain had landed, as the dust settled Cain's monstrous demon form looked back, with his sword in hand and his beastial rage in full show. He then looked at Rornal. "Stand aside! You are not important to my plans! If you do not get out of my way I shall deal with you here and now!" Rornal let out a small chuckle as he looked at Cain, "Too bad, you can't kill him I'm afraid, leave now or I will make you leave." Cain's anger seemed to grow, upon hearing this remark. "WHAAAAAAT!? You dare threaten me?" Cain grabbed his Dark Shadow Ripper in both hands and prepared to overhead chop Rornal in half, before he could however, Rornal performed a slide to the side to dodge the blow and then snapped his fingers. His body enveloped itself in a black glow and his form shifted. He now wore black knight armour and his weapon changed to that of a thin longsword, with numerous gems covering it. "Well then, if that is how you want it, lets go."

Rornal then pointed his sword at Cain and started to beat off his preparation power slashes with swift strikes to the tip of the sword.

After one contestant shot another, a man in white appeared in air. As he landed on arena, a black demon appeared from nowhere and landed on arena too.
Karne quickly descends down on the stairs to be much closer to the arena. He walks to the edge just when the man in white changed into a some sort of black knight.

"What in the world is this for?"

"Ahh jeez." Rene groaned as a battle broke out several feet away from him. He grabbed a small vial from his pocket, surprised that it hadn't smashed, he downed the contents and felt himself be revitalised.

"It'll only last a while, better get the mage somewhere safe." He quickly ran over to Damien and went to grab him.

"C'mon buddy, let's get you somewhere safe and have someone treat ya."

As Rornal was holding off Cain with swift slashes, he knew if Cain got too angry he may finish off the entire arena, changing history. As Rornal kept blocking blows he then performed a mighty slam into Cain's guard he took the opportunity to try some magic to show his skills and hopefully cause Cain to retreat. "7 of torches!" As the card of the torches appeared between them, Cain froze in awe, he quickly recovered and charged towards Rornal but was too late as he was wreathed in flames. Cain was not stopped for long as he delivered a powerful punch to Rornal's helm. Rornal could not dodge this in time and took the full blow, a few drops of blood fell from his helm to show the power of his fist.

"Heh, you're pretty tough, guess I'd better be more careful, hmm, guess I'd better finish this before someone tries to interfere."

"Now then." Rene said to himself as he placed Damien's unconcious body in a decent enough hiding spot. "Let's go see what's goin on."

He had been watching the battle out of the corner of his eyes and had begun to wonder what the hell was going on.

"Heh, you're pretty tough, guess I'd better be more careful, hmm, guess I'd better finish this before someone tries to interfere."

That's my que, Rene thought. He ran over to the pair and quickly decided that the good guy must be the one who placed the shield around the barrier.

"Sorry to interupt folks!" Rene shouted as he spun his blade into his fighting stance "But the next time you decide to put a damned barrier around the arena... MAKE SURE THE DAMNED CONTESTANTS ARE OUT!"

He chuckled, "Let's go!" He shouted at the figure in the white robe.

ooc: I'm not in a white robe now, I stated I was in battle phase 1: A black suit of medieval knight's armour. :P

ic:

"As you can see, the barrier defends them as well, my barrier only shields the battleground, you have no reason to fear." Rornal then pointed his battle thruster at Cain with an outstretched arm and charged towards him, as Cain tried a sidesweep attack Rornal ducked the blow and hacked at Cain's powerful legs. Cain let out a small laugh which developed into a far louder one, it seemed Cain was up to something. "Well well well, this might be too much considering I just recovered... Try handling this lot." At this point Cain clicked his left hand fingers and suddenly a large black mist engulfed his area of the arena as well as areas outside the barrier. As the black mist faded a small portal-like object had appeared on either side of the barrier, from it numerous black soldiers appeared, they wore small light black armour over the torso and head and wielded two 2ft long shortswords which were also black. They moved like beasts and seemed overly ferocious, it seemed the only way to stop them was to destroy the portals."Hahaha, it seems you needed help, guess I'll clear up this mess." Rornal ran towards the growing 'army' and started working on a group of 3. they had low range but high speed and manouverability. Rornal timed his stabs and slashes to counter them.

(These guys are fairly weak and don't take much to bring down. You can control them but there is an infinite supply until the portals are taken down, people on both ends need to take down a barrier. ;))

ooc: Whoops I thought it was the other guy wearing a white robe Xd. I'll edit in a minute.

IC:

"Aww sheez..." Rene muttered as he charged towards the ever growing army. He held his blade out and summoned some energy. He quickly ran into the middle of a large group of enemies and unleashed hell.

His whirlwind abilitie did the trick, he instantly killed at least 10 of the soldiers surrounding them.

"Well now that was easy!" Rene chuckled, "That all you got?" He then turned round. Behind him were even more soldiers than before.

"Aww christ." Rene muttered to himself. He drew his gun anjd quickly reloaded it. He fired off a quick few shots ashe charged towards the new group of enemies.

"Yo buddy!" Rene shouted at Rornal. "You deal with the big guy, I'll hold back these! Obviously seeing as that dude summoned them, if we kill him, these portals should go!"

As Rornal performed a few clockwise spins to rapid lunges to deal with the nearby enemies. The attacks were swift and deadly, yet he had to pace himself to avoid rapid fatigue. He jumped back slightly and prepared to hold them at bay with a palm beam attack, it ripped through their thin armour and incinerated all three at once. "Sorry buddy, I can't kill him, it isn't my place to slay anyone". Rornal hacked an approaching soldier in two with a diagonal slash and turned to face his ally. "You can't kill him either, only one prson is destined to do so, we must guard him till that time comes." Ronal extended his hand to shake his ally's while no present enemies were near. "My name's Rornal, what's yours?"

"Name's Rene!" He shouted as he killed two of the soldiers, Rene had realised that they were getting stronger and stronger, and after his battle with Damien his strength was seriously starting to dwindle.

"If you can't kill him then HOW THE BLOODY HELL DO WE GET RID OF HIM!" He jumped over the head of one of the soldiers and slashed him up his back, he landed and spun round gun in hand, he shot several more before charging forward and fighting.

He went to spin before being thrown across the arena. One of the soldiers had managed to punch him strongly into the stomach. Rene wheezed as he stood up again, he went to grab his blade.

It wasn't there. "Aww shit..." Rene said as he spotted his blade in the midst of the soldiers. He drew his gun and summoned what litttle magic he had left. He drew it all into his gun and aimed.

"Comet blast!" Rene shouted as his gun fired a large comet towards the group. They were instantly incinerated. Rene, still winded slightly, limped over to his blade. He ripped it out of the ground, rested in on his shoulder and smiled at Rornal.

"Well if we can't take care of him, may as well try to make sure he don't kill us... best make sure the soldiers don't do that either... "

"Yeah, it isn't time for him to die... I know who does kill him but the time is not yet right." Rornal retracted his hand and turned to face Cain, he had been recovering while he was distracted with the soldiers, as he was about to charge towards them he felt a blunt blow to the back of his head. As he fell to one knee he turned to face his attacker, higher ranked troops had arrived. This one wielded a large mace and wore heavy armour all over his body, it was shaped like a second skin so it shouldn't be too hard to break through it. "Alright bastard, guess it's your turn to die..." Rornal thrusted his blade into the soldier's torso and heard the blood squelching sound of his sword penetrating through his entire body. When he turned back, Cain had moved, he was now on the opposite side of the arena, either this was fear... Or maybe some sort of cunning?

Damian opened his eyes, it seemed that his energy had returned in some small amount. "What... Where... What's going on?" As Damian dragged himself to his feet he saw the demon he fought not too long ago, and Rene and another man fighting off numerous troops. Unable to move much he laid there, trying to hide his existence... At least till his energy returned.

Rene twisted his body as a new type of soldier appeared. It had a big mace and was aiming for Rene. As the mace went for his head, Rene lifted up the body of a soldier and let him take the damage. He released the body and stabbed the new soldier.

"They're getting tougher!" Rene shotued to Rornal. "We;re gonna have to figure out how to stop 'em comin' back!"

Rene charged forward with a quick streak attack, sending some of his enemies flying backwards. He summoned a fire ball in his hand and sent it straight for an officer soldier. The soldier dodged it and instead it struck the portal they were coming from, every soldier seemed to scream in unison before backing up and standing in front of the portal in guard., the portal itself had seeed to warp slightly, changing colour and size before returning to normal.

Rene chuckled, "Hey Rornal! I think I found there weak spot! Destroy the portal!" He then charged

As Alumar exited the long hall, he could hear the crowd screaming, thought it was not the normal roar that such a crowd should have, This was more in terror.

As he came out, out long enough to see what they where seeing.
The arena was invaded, for the lack of a better word.
Soldiers on black, where spewing out of 2 portals.

Alumar looked at the one in the arena itself, "Why don't they just lea*" he was interrupted with a short sword, bouncing off what seemed to be a force field. A Barrier of kind.

Alumar activated his [Detect Life] spell, to be better prepared. And his timing where perfect, as one of the dark soldiers where attacking from behind him.
Alumar simply sidestepped, and watched as the soldier stumbled, and fell down the stone stairs. Braking bones, and crushing his body for each step that it hit.
Alumar smiled slightly. "Good going" he stated to the now 'broken' soldier.

Inside the barely visible barrier, where one portal, on the outside there where another.
Both spewing out the black soldiers.
Logically enough, if one managed to take out the portals, they should stop sending soldiers, as the transportation for them, will then be gone.

Alumar walked over to the broken soldier, and used his necromancy skills. to awaken it.
As it was awakened, he tried to get some information out of it, but the nature of the spell, made the soldier unable to speak.
Though, Alumar did not even know if it could speak from before.

He released the spell, and the soldier disintegrated. He looked around with a sigh. Who here can tell what is happening.

OOC: Just to say this, I will post how many Chi will Karne use.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Karne was still standing near the edge of watching area at battlefield, even though everyone on that area ran away. He couldn't assist the contestant and a man that changed his robe into a black armor, because as he was watching he overheard a man in black armor that he created a barrier around the field.
Then a portal appeared, both inside the barely visible barrier and outside of it. The black soldiers were spawning from it, and few of them noticed Karne and head on towards his way.

"Hmm, a battle you want? A battle you shall receive then."

Karne makes a 55cm spacing between his feet and he bends down his right leg, he also bends his arm so a part below elbow is downright with part of arm above elbow and he stretched his arm right arm a bit down (Karate) and charged his Chi into his right leg (5).
As one of black soldiers approached, Karne instantly closes up to him and kicks him. As he kicked him, the soldier was pushed backwards from the impact and he fell on another soldier. Another soldier tries his luck and swings his sword towards Karne. The soldier was right-handed so Karne makes a quick side-step to the right. Then he charges his Chi on right hand (4) and hits the soldier in the helm.
He makes a small dent it on it and the soldier falls down unconscious. Karne looks at the portal and sees some more tougher looking soldiers coming out of it.

Testament

Testament gave a snort of disgust as a well placed kick sent one of the dark sentrymen sprawling. "Stupid half-breed," he muttered under his breath as he dodged a helm-splitter sword swing with ease, following with a swift blow from his violin case to a soldier's head, "Why do these people insist on interrupting my entertainment." It's not like I care what happens to these humans, he thought to himself as he landed a few more kicks on the swarming army, I just want the matches to hurry up and continue. I've got that fight with that fool of a knight to look forward to. The skill of these dark soldiers was completely immaterial, their movements were impossibly easy to read and avoid. At this rate, Testament wouldn't even need to use Violince.

Skaol

As Skaol made his way fluidly through the swarm, taking the occasional opening to dispatch a few soldiers, he spotted Wylliam not too far away fending off the attackers with ease, his spear spinning this way and that, tripping and piercing and smacking the dark soldiers silly. It was obvious his skill had not dulled sense they last fought, but just how powerful had he become, if there were any change at all? Suddenly, he spotted a soldier that had managed to take Wylliam's back without his noticing preparing to attack him from behind. "No!" Skaol shouted, flinging himself within striking distance of the soldier and driving his rapier through the back of its head. It remained motionless for a few moments before dropping to the ground, revealing Wylliam, mouth agape, staring into Skaol's eyes. It was at this moment that Skaol realized that his hood had fallen during his attack, revealing his face.

Wylliam

One moment. Half a second. A minute. An hour. Days. Months. Years. An eternity seemed to pass as Wylliam stared in shock at the resolute face of his best friend who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Around them, a battle was raging fiercely, but all either could hear was a ringing silence. For five years, Wylliam had thought of nothing but one day reuniting with his former companion, but he had imagined tracking him down from vague clues that seemed to lead nowhere but would undoubtably guide him to Skaol. And yet, without any warning, here he was, completely unchanged from five years ago with the exception of a certain taughtness to his facial features, caused, presumably, by over work.

"Skaol..." Wylliam whispered, then moved his sight to Skaol's weapon, noticing a small piece of emerald green cloth fluttering at its hilt. His grip on his spear tightened as his eyes began to tear and his teeth clenched. "Five... years..." he said heatedly as tears began to course down his cheek, "Five years, and you decide to show yourself now?!"

"It's not that simple!" Skaol yelled, his eyes seeming to plead for Wylliam to understand, "I just found out where you-"

"Found out?!" Wylliam retorted, his left hand shaking, "Am I to suppose you 'happened' upon this information and set out immediately to find me? Or, did your Aldabran masters tell you to come here to eliminate us?!"

A flicker across Skaol's face was all Wylliam needed. "So it's true," he murmered, his body seeming to become sapped of its strength, "you are still a soldier for Aldabra. I didn't want to believe it, but it's true." Strength returned to his features as he looked hotly into Skaol's face. "How can you still fight for them? You taught me to protect those in need! You showed me that optimism is viable, even in this cynical world! Aldabra will only bring suffering and oppresion! Surely you've seen their corruption!"

"I've also seen the good that benevolent order can bring! I believe in Emperor Maximillian to bring this to the people. Where did your optimism go?"

"I'm optimistic, but I'm not self delusional. It's simply human nature for people to desire things beyond the limits of their ethics ('You got that right,' a voice rang out over the battlefield), and if such a person were to get in a seat of power in an all encompassing government, who would be able to oppose him?"

"Not to break up this intense moment," the scholarly looking man from before growled as he kicked a dark soldier and sent him flying between the two, "but you need to help find a way to stop these things. You can compare philosophies in vain later."

Wylliam looked again to Skaol, nodded stiffly, and continued fighting against the dark tide, this time beside his former comrade.
