URPG Ideas

I had an idea for a Phoenix Wright RP, but I'm not exactly sure how I would organize it.
 
We definately need some new ideas. There's only like four active threads in the Editors at the moment.
 
Well, I've already tried a Tales of the Symphonia RP, but no one has joined that one, and it's been up for ages. So that's obviously gone down the plug hole.

Perhaps we could go for an RP based on a film or series, since editors mainly cosists of RPs based on game.

How about an X-Men RP?
 
X-Men would be really awesome, as there's so many different characters, viewpoints and scenarios that you could take it in.
 
We could allow people to choose their powers. Maybe set it a few years after the death of Apocolypse, therefore allowing another villain played by an RP to take the stage.

One issue though, what X-Men should it be set after, we have quite a few choices of the different plots, like the X-Men movies, Evolution, the original series. It's quite a variety really, but I think we should put it to a vote or something.
 
For the biggest scope and range, I'd say the original animated series. The movies messed up too much, and Evolution just had them all in high school. But you could definately put it up to a vote of course.
 
I'd love to see more movie RPs! X-Men would be a lot of fun. The reason I like the idea, is because from the sound of it, it'd allow for people to play canon characters.

Playing canon roles is something I want other FFF RPers to try. That's how I first learned how to RP, and I think we should have more RPs that incorporate it.
 
At that rate. We could go for 2 X-Men RPs. One based on the movie where people can claim a character and RP as them, and one that is based on the original series where you can create your own mutant and play as them.

The only problem that may arise with that scenario is that we could be stretching / forcing people to join one or the other (as many may not have the time for both) and so one is obviously going to be weaker in the long run and may fail before it's given a chance. Perhaps integrate the two concepts? So, based on the original animated series, whereas people can play either canon characters or their own? That should solve the problem I believe.
 
I would like an X-men RP, even though I'm not too knowledgable on the setting. I would prefer one RP as opposed to multiple RP's, as the possibility of playing canon characters should not have to exclude 'home-made' characters in my opinion. And combining the two would make for rather interesting roleplay I'd think. :)
 
I'm definately looking forward to this. Was thinking, it might even be a good idea to set it at the start rather than after, as this way, we could play through the different sagas (Magneto, Brotherhood, Virus, etc...) with both the canon / non-canon characters and really build up our own rich story. :D
 
Ah, good idea. Also, should we make it so a person could control two characters to control? One their own original character, and the other, a character from the story? (Of course, they'll have the option, don't wanna make the people taking part feel that they have to in case they just wanna do one of the two)

I think, the only problem we need to hash out is how do people get certain canon characters? First come first serve? The best auditions for each?
 
Yeah, I think auditions would be our best bet. I considered first come first served, but then a thought occured to me.

Someone who claimed a character first might really suck at being that character, or there may be someone better at potraying them, and we wouldn't wanna end up regretting not giving the part to the better person halfway through the RP.

So by the look of things. Auditions = FTW
 
I was thinking the EXACT same thing. It would really hurt for someone to be portraying a canon character poorly, when someone else could be doing a greater job of it. So yeah, we could either have strict auditions at the start, or, (as we go along and people might join after it gets started anyway), have a sort of 'provisionary' scenario in place - where someone (at any time) can audition for a canon character that you may have in your possession. If deemed better, then they get to control that character, etc...

But yeah, either way, definately auditions for canon characters.
 
I think it would be great to make the option available to play to different characters, though I myself wouldn't make use of it.

A question, though: who would judge the auditions?
 
Ahh...That is the question, Von :gasp:

I guess it would be decided by whoever ends up as the RP-Master of it. (Not sure if I wanna do it yet, might be too much responsibility for me to enjoy myself with)

But were I to take the role as the RP-Master, I'd have to ask for some help to judge, sorta put it to vote to be more precise of who deserves the role.
 
For judging this knowledge of the background is more or less mandatory as well I'd assume. I'm sure there are people here who feel they fit the bill. :D
 
Just wanted to say, Del Boy, I'm with you all the way on this. So if you want to set it up together, or if you simply need help on judging things, or just someone really prominent / pushing things forward, I'll be right there with you. I'm a huge X-Men fan, so am really going to enjoy this.
 
Cheers bud. I will need the help if I chose to be the RP-Master.

I imagine this RP might require a bit more work than any of the other RPs I have done before. Need to take loads of things into consideration such as what character from the X-Men has been taken. I'm gonna start tommorow night, (I'm in GMT+1, so...my night lol)
