I Swear This Place Is Haunted - A Skylit Drive

Piano is really good in this song, fantastic guitars, drums off the hook, and just overall a great song, even though some people don't necessarily like the album it's from. Haters gonna hate. :hmph:

F**k You - Sleeping With Sirens -

I actually really like this cover of the Cee-Lo Green song. The sound is really original, and just the way they were able to transfer the song into a hard rock format is pretty fab. Plus, they were able to show their musicianship in this song. Great cover is great. :ryan:

I'm Waiting for the Man - The Velvet Underground

It's probably my favourite song by the Velvet Underground, it's either this or Heroin. Both have remarkably similar themes, one is about taking Heroin, the other about buying it. Lou Reed's vocals work quite well, they're quite relaxed, and this would normally be an insult, but in this case I think it's a compliment, there's not much emotion put into them. The best thing about the song is how the music is always changing without seeming to change much at all. There's probably more urgency in the last minute and that's when the you can hear the electric piano. But earlier in the song you get slight changes on tone or speed to alter the sound. However only one element changes at a time, so you're aware of change, but also aware of the continuity.

It's Christmas, muddafukkas! I'm opening a bottle of Jack Daniels, cranking up the speakers and getting into the spirit with Rob Halford. Fuck yes.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas - eyeshine

Tis the season to be jolly, and this version of this particular some gives me plenty of jolly. It's such a different take on a Christmas song, but you know, it works so well. I just love the hell out of it. :jay:

charlie brown christmas song

I think its an old song. But, still commonly used in commercials and other christmas related things.

I like that idealistic 70's - 80's era, when things like halloween and christmas were romanticized.

Stronger - Dead By April

Probably one of my favorite songs from them. their new album is shit, but their debut album is great, and this is a prime example. The techno elements are present, but they don't overwhelm the song or Jeremy's vocals. :ryan:

This song has been on repeat everywhere I go. I know the lyrics by heart now, but the bridge still gives me chills. I love this song so much, I'm actually thinking of learning how to play it on the piano...though I don't have her amazing voice. :gonk:

For New Years, people across the street had their very own 80's music marathon droning in the background of their kids running around like mad setting off cherry / pipe(?) bombs.

Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, etcetera.

It was surreal and hilarious seeing a new years party with michael jackson playing in the background.. lol I guess I should be thankful it wasn't Justin Bieber or something more insidious.

Heard this song play a few times, glad no one / nothing got blown up, or burnt down. :ohshit:

Listening to: Diamonds Aren't Forever by Bring Me The Horizon.
I used to hate BMTH, but I've gotten into them recently? I don't know, it's just decent now... my tastes must of changed. I really want to go to one of their gigs. :)

Stars - Warpaint.

Gentler than most of their other music, this has a fragile and occasionally a haunting quality. I think it's probably too long as what is good about the song for the first four minutes cannot be sustained for over six minutes. However I think it works well in the context of the album because their music is generally so powerful and vital that this makes a nice contrast and makes you appreciate their music in a different way.

Mogwai - Tracy

Just found out about this group recently while re-reading the Questionable Content archives. It saddens me that I didn't know about post-rock when it came out. Apparently, while it sounds like a sad or romantic soundscape, it was actually composed as backdrop for two prank calls against their manager and record label.

Old Buggy Now by Bowman

http://bowman.bandcamp.com/track/old-buggy-now

He's got a crazy voice that somehow works with music. This is the only song I personally enjoy off of his new album, though I'd probably buy the entire thing just for this (as it's not on Spotify).

Vivaldi -- The Four Seasons(Summer) Julia Fischer version

Combo breaker! :ohshit:

Julia Fischer is hardcore. I saw video clips of her training to play the violin once. She plays lying down and in all types of odd and uncomfortable positions & does a lot of training that one might not expect from a violin player. Its impressive how far they go & how much time and effort they put in to be able to perform at peak.
