Coldplay - Viva La Vida

I was originally iffy when this song came out, but now I smile every time I hear it. Even though it wasn't what I expected from them, I liked the direction it was taking their music in. I love the lyrics and Chris Martin's voice, it's so unique. I like the classic sound to it as well.

Commander - Kelly Rowland and David Guetta

I love Kelly Rowland's voice, and David Guetta's a pretty cool producer, and together they make some fairly kick-ass songs. I loved When Love Takes Over, but this one's even better. Such an infectious beat and then she belts out that chorus - summer smash again, imo :gasp:

Muse - Uprising

Absolutely LOVE this song, especially since I've heard it in a few film trailers recently. I've got this eerie feeling that you'd hear it from Doctor Who because it's got this science fiction sound. It's very catchy and constant. Matt Bellamy's got an incredible voice.

Darius Rucker - If i had wings.
In this song he sings about the secrets we forgot from when we were children. Why do we fight, why do we kill, why is there hate? ect. He sings "if i had wings, i'd fly up to heaven, i'd look down from the couds, on everything, then i could find all the things we've been missing. I would have all the answers if i had wings" Truly an inspirational song.

Katy Perry Feat. Snoop Dogg - California Gurls

It's a very good song for the summer. I've been anticipating new material from Katy Perry for a while, too. Having Snoop Dogg in the song is really not needed because he's not in it much, but it's a pleasant surprise. It was meant to be like Empire State Of Mind being about California. And it does what it says on the tin.

Bleed Like Me - Garbage
It plays out almost like a poem. There's actually very little to the music until the end, and she doesn't really sing, more talks her way through the song. It's still a really good song though, sort of chilling.

Speeding Cars -- Imogen Heap

Besides having a wonderfully magical voice, the songwriting of this particular track is superb. It's melancholy but with an undercurrent of nostalgia and reassurance. Amazing song really. I <3 this woman and her voice especially when she was paired up with Guy Sigsworth (musical chemistry in the making, that).

But yeah . . . this is good stuff.

Old school hip-hop . . .

Intergalactic -- Beastie Boys

Lady GaGa - LoveGame

Quite the catchy song, actually. It's not her best one, but it makes up for it with a different approach with her voice and music. There are also worse other ones, so I think this is pretty good. Love the general theme of the song itself, too.

Sweet Dreams | Beyoncé

The song is getting a little bit old now, but I still like it! The song is really nice, and Beyoncé shows that she has a great voice. I really like the video for it and I'd definitely say it's one of the best from her album. She is an R&B singer, which is not really my style of music, but I do like Beyoncé. This song is perfect for me, and I love it.

Requiem for a dream - and fighting Yunalesca, now leave me alone:rage:

No but seriously i like this song because it is the most epic song ever made. I actually did mute my TV and put this on and fight Yunalesca five minutes ago. It made the fight so much more epic. When Armageddon comes this song will be played from the heavens.

All The Lovers | Kylie Minogue

I love Kylie's comeback single! It's such a beautiful track. I love how she has decided to return to music after her breast cancer, she proves that she is a strong woman. She is one of my idols and her music is so inspirational. She is a pure artist, and I love this song. It's a good dance floor track and something good to dance to. I love it!

Lover's Spit - Broken Social Scene

All these people drinking lover's spit . . .
Sit around and clean their face with it . . .
And listen to teeth to learn how to quit
Tied to a night they never met

Dreamy grouped string arrangements, haunting vocals by co-founder, Kevin Drew, and badass acoustic guitar serving as the backdrop . . . this song ultimately about gay guys giving bjs out of love or lust to some, or just about the complexities of a young hetero couple in love to others . . . is undoubtedly beautiful. As the lyrics above prove (especially when you hear Kevin sing it, oh goooood) is just nostalgic and by the time you get to around 3.50 it'll start to make a few tears slip from your eyes for good measure. It's guaranteed to make you reminisce on an old HS crush or a college fling that meant more to you than you let some pals of yours know.

It's a universal 'hey, we've all been through that shit' sort of song. Those are some of the best kinds . . .

This one an exception? Hell no. It's wonderful, even if it's about bjs or the power of a long-lost love.

Gallows - I dread the night

Great song, the vocals are intense and I like the lyrics too. I really like the first verse in particular how it just begins with no real introduction. The song as a whole is just really energetic..catchy too.

Take It Off | Ke$ha

This is my favourite song of hers. I like the beat, and the music. The lyrics... they are bit orientated about being drunk and partying, as usual... where she says: "I got my drunk text on, I'll regret it in the 'mo. But tonight I don't give a, I don't give a." Although she said she has never, and will never use auto tune, this song screams auto tune. I do like the song though, it's one of the only good ones from the album.

Red House Painters- "Medicine Bottle"

This band is really impressing me. They have lots of 8+ minutes songs that keep you interested all the way through, and have some really amazing lyrics. This is another one of my favorites by them so far, very descriptive and kind of a dark yet somehow relaxing tone:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BMZ7wfLyno&feature=related

giving into love and sharing my time
letting someone into my misery
i told it all step by step
how i landed on the island
and how i swam across the sea
and it crosses my mind
that i may wake to a knife in me
no more breath in my hair
or ladies' underwear
tossed up over the alarm clock
blood dripping from the bed
to a neatly written poem
a heartfelt last line reading
there is no more mystery
it is going to happen my love

it's all in your head she said
morning after nightmare
you're building a wall she said
higher than the both of us
so try living life
instead of hiding in the bedroom
show me a smile
and i'll promise not to leave you

it happened under a rainy cloud
passing through the dark south
we went into a big house
and slept in a small bed
i didn't know you then
as well as you of me
we talked of our sad lives
and we went off separately
i found your overseas souvenirs
holiday greeting cards
and some long forgotten high school fears
it's all in my head i said
banging a piano
i've not been so alone i thought
since kicking in the womb
i drank so much tea
i wrote my letters in kanji
around the block i walked and walked
pretending you were with me
not wanting to die out here
without you

the hurting never ends
like birthdays and old friends
we forget what is flesh blood and bone is human
turning phone lines to airlines
unwilling to face
the love is found on the inside not the outside
and like a medicine bottle
in the cabinet i'll keep you
and like a medicine bottle
in my hand i will hold you
and swallow you slowly
as to last me a lifetime
without holding too tight
i do not want to lose
the thrill that it gives me
to look out from my window
and scowl at the houses
from my world in the bedroom
it's all in my head she read
in her girlfriend's self-help book
it's all his own making
a war with himself
like two sides of a wall
that separates two countries
he shuts out the world
and wants only to love you

not wanting to die out here
without you

Shontelle - Impossible

I discovered this song the other morning when I was watching AM tv, and I fell in love with it instantly. The chorus is really catchy, and I love the opening verse that's repeated throughout the song. Shontelle has a great look, and she reminds me of what Rihanna used to be like when she was first starting out.
