Vaan

Wow, Vaan is really hated. :C
Even more hated than Tidus who is a lot like Vaan.

To be honest, I like that guy.
He's slow and dumb, and that's what I like about him.

Vaan and Tidus are nothing alike.

SPOILERS for FFX/FFXII

Tidus was ripped from his life and home, thrust into a strange world and dire circumstances, and discovers several extremely unlpleasnant truths about people he cares about. Not only that, he then as has a bombshell dropped on him about himself and then has to make a dificult choice regarding all that he has learned.

Vaan loses a brother and then is caught up in some political intrigue. Aside from learning of his brother's true killer, he doesn't actually do much or have much done to him. Hell, for the most part he and the party are removed from most of the world and their plight as they trudge through dungeons.

At least Tidus and crew were actually involved or completely aware of the plight of the people in the world through-out the pilgrimage. Vaan was just "there" for the most part.

Vaan, dont get me started on him. I found that his lack of emotion really made me dislike him. He has nothing special about him, that is to say that he has no outstanding characteristics. This, and he dresses like a gay stripper(whats up with the open vest thing?)
But i digress, I may be a little biased, seeing as i didnt like final fantasy 12 at all. Still, Square Enix could have done a better job with Vaan and Penelo.

Didn't thought Vaan is being hated so much.
I actually quite like him. He was one of the two leaders on my party (the other being Balthier). I can't put a character I hate as a leader, right?

While he (and maybe all FFXII characters) isn't one of those flashy original characters, at least I have found him very realistic. I guess the most people, me included, prefer those anime-like unique characters (like FFVII, FFIX) rather than realstic and a little dull ones. (FFXII, and some in FFX).

Still, I think Vaan is a nice character. He does some interesting and funny things from time to time. As well as I found his story quite intersting with a realstic tone. And thus easier to get attached to, rather than for example to Tidus's story.

As much as it pains be to say anything negative about anything FF...I friggin hated Vaan. His character was alright (and yes, weird-ass chest) but the voice acting was just terrible. He was plain looking, had nothing protagonist-like about him.

Good thing Balthier has the personality of 2 people to make up for it :D

I rather liked Vaan. He kept me amused for most of the game seeing as he and Ashe were the two that seemed to run straight into traps no matter how hard I tried to keep them away. He's not my favorite by any means, but I don't dislike him.

I've noted, in various places, that some people think Vaan is pretty useless. At first he may seem that way but he is only really useless or worthless if you make him that way, though he does lack a certain quality to be a main. His personality could use some work and the voice actor really should have played with a range of emotions instead of staying in the same one.

However Vaan does have a certain charm about him, with his love for his brother to his determination to become a sky pirate, there is something close to being admirable about him. I think maybe his lack of personality in the game could be having lost the last living blood relative to him to the war, so he is probably just closing himself off and not letting his true self show.

His actions though seem a bit childish as he is still young himself so that would easily make him a bit annoying to most, but can one really blame him? He was forced to grow up so fast. His appearance could also have used a little work also, I didn't like the way they made his chest look at certain points and there were a few other minor things about him that could really set someone away from him in appearance wise. But I do think that Square Enix should have put a little more work into his role, made him a more memorible character, with a wider range of emotion and feeling.

And maybe a better personality.

Vaan was pretty much the one who kept me laughing. Between telling people about Ondore's lies and screaming Hey Bucket Head! he was amusing. Plus when I got bored I'd run him through a bunch of traps to see if he'd survive. He's not useless for me, he's normally one of the characters I keep out for boss battles.

The only thing I care to remember about Vaan is: "DON'T BELIEVE ONDOR'S LIES! I'M CAPTIAN BASCH!" Other than that, he wasn't a very good protagonist. He lacked a real spark to his character. Dare I say that his older brother had more character than him?

Vaan is a very boring character. He has a few decent one-liners here and there but he certainly doesn't fit his role as the "leading man". FFXII doesn't really even give an in-depth storyline for Vaan, just the "Woah is me" portion.

Oh, and what were the character designers thinking when they decided to release the game with his chest looking like that? It looks fine during CG's but during gameplay... agh.

He think and act like a child to fit being the protagonist of the game, but i like Tetsuya created/design his hair, it's cool. This game doesn't have any romance part of the game that make it really very different compare to other game...but the graphics is somehow smooth compare to other, ofcourse it is :)

I hated Vaan... =X I hardly understood his role in the party anyways. He looked, and acted like he was in the middle of the gender slidebar. Felt like Yuffie replacing Cloud in FF7. Just really...abnoxious and unneeded. Oddly enough, however. I never removed him from my party because of the fact he was the main character. Weird, huh?

I surely hate Vaan, I'd prefer Ricks as a main character. I hate the way he talk, he act and the way he fell for Penelo. I didn't had a problem with him, actually I just removed him from the party :)

I didn't like Vaan very much, yet i used him always..... he did seem a little too feminine to me..... his face especially.... his personality just didn't shine, much like a bunch of the other protagonists in the FF compilation...

I hated Vaan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
stupid voice, stupid abs, stupid outfit, stupid personality, stupid face!!!!!

I didnt hate him as much as tidus thho

Vaan is not a very good hero because he doesn't do shit but the game is great and i love the other characters

They had to make a method to introduce the impact that airships had on the world of Ivalice, and a starry eyed androgynous kid with the passion to be a sky pirate was their method of choice. His key role was to tie Penelo into the party, and be the emo kid of the group. He was the closest thing to it. As shiny as the game was, his lack of personality kinda dulled the luster, imho. -_-

Vaan was a interesting character to play. He didn't look like a male and seemed cocky at times. He wasn't like former FF protagonist, his story was not a very appealing and it didn't have me saying, "I want to finish this game so I can find out what happens to him". I personally thought that other characters would have made better leads.

vaan was a complete douche.... i'd rather get rick rolled than listening to the pillow bitting voice he has..... he looks like he just came out of a gay discotech in german.... he has no point in the story .... except to crack a fat over ashe all the freaken time.... i mean c'mon .... hes got major problems..... like you would wanna fuk a crazy bitch that sees ghosts and does nothing but whine about the empire killing her husband and taking over he lands and whatnot...... i'd rather get stabbed in the eye by 17 midgets at the same time then listen to her constant whining....

i kinda agree with that last guy he had an incredibly annoying voice not really a hero
