which final fantasy game do you think has the best music?

I Think FF 10 and crisis core had the best music

Do you care to elaborate why little brother? I personally think that FFVII, all compilations, and FFVIII had the best music. One to note in particular was Silent Edge, used in DoC. This music was used when you were playing in Edge, the place where you first encounter Shalua Rui of the WRO

hi ya

I really enjoy FF7 and the spin off music. 8 is next. other then that 1-6 seemed to much a like to me. and 9-12 was too into story or graphics. Pretty much I think it went downhill. Although I'm a ff7 geek so you ignore me.

I liked the epic in VIII. Liberi Fatali is so cool, and it's seriously like the best song to drive to.

The piano collections from X-2 is absolutely amazing, if it counts.

You can't really go wrong with VII-X, they are all great soundtracks. But FFX's soundtrack is the greatest soundtrack in entertainment. With songs like "At Zanarkand" and "Someday the Dream wil End" being bittersweet and beautiful, "Otherworld" for the adrenaline rush, and the Ending theme to be a perfect cap to all the emotions of the game... there is just no competing with it.

I have to agree with FFX having the best music, especially the piano collections. Although I want to say IX, to me FFX definitely has the more memorable music such as mentioned above "Otherworld", "Suteki da ne" etc definitely are up there with the best of the FF tracks.
As much as I disliked FFX2 as well, it did have great music >.>

IMO VIII had the best music. X isn't far behind, but VIII was simply the aesthetically pleasing for me. Lots of piano based songs is probably what makes it my favorite.

X has the most stand-out tracks for me. Zanarkand, Otherworld, Suteki Da Ne, Ending Theme etc. But as a whole, I thought VIII had the most impressive collection of music. The problem I have with X is that they tend to re-use most of the main melody for a lot of tracks. In VIII, it's a lot less apparent and I must say almost all of the tracks don't disappoint. VII was memorable too, very distinct pieces.

I like IX's music because the music is composed in such a complexed and sophisicated manner, there is so much going on!

I also like X-2's piano pieces also! =]

I like the piano music from X-2 also! VIII I think has the best music for me, maybe because it was my first FF :cassy: I wasn't that keen on XII's music.
VII was pretty good for setting the mood. Added to the whole experience I think. IX's music was more playful and X was a more finished article with a range of musical influences, taking it into a more mordern gaming experience.

VIII I think for the nostalgia and personal choice. But clinically X was probably the best.:busta:

I enjoyed IX and VI's music the most.

VI had a wide variety of music tracks that really fit the scenes and area's they were put to, not to mention Dancing Mad is just plain amazing!

IX had more of a medieval theme to it's music for the most part, and I really liked that, no sudden outbursts of electric guitar, they managed to get you pumped up in a scene without it.
If I recall it's Nobuo Uematsu's favorite final fantasy soundtrack (that he composed).

i would say that FFX had the best soundtrack overall. There were not many up-tempo songs as previous but I say X had the most memorable moments that went with the music.

If I were to listen to the soundtrack of X, I would know exactly where the place was and what happened.

Seven. Hands down.

It's hard for me to choose only one game because I think some FF games had better music than others in specific situations, like a fight theme or a world theme. I find it hard to choose only one game TBQH.

I really like the boss fight theme in FFVIII (Force Your Way, I think that's the name). The world theme of FFVI during World of Balance was just beautiful. FFVI had other great music like Dancing Mad, Kefka's Theme and Aria de Mezzo Caratere. The best battle theme would be FFIV's Zeromus fight, because it's so dramatic and chaotic and really makes you feel the tension of the situation (FFIV's world theme is pretty nice too). The fight theme and boss fight theme in FFVII were great too, as well as world theme (Ahead on Your Way) and the characters' theme songs that I thought really matched each one. Speaking of character's theme songs, I can't forget the blues guitar in Jecht's Theme from FFX (the best in FFX, followed closely by Rikku's Theme which is just cute ^^) and the accoustic guitar in Spira Unplugged.

So basically the above reasons are why I find it hard to choose only one FF game (I tried to keep short o_o), but to answer the question, I'd go with FFVII because it had more music that moved me in a way, being it themes of battles or characters or world et cetera. The music just seemed to fit well in the situations it played.

I could go on forever so I'll just STFU now >_<

Seven. Hands down.

Could you possibly explain why you think this, please?

I agree though, FFVII has the best soundtrack. Although FFVI, FFIX and FFX come very close.

FFVII has the most memorable music - Aerith's Theme, One Winged Angel, JENOVA, Those who fight further...etc. It's just the highest quality, I can't think of any other FF song that's as brilliantly emotive as Aerith's Theme, or as epicly-badass as One Winged Angel. FFVII has the most memorable tracks, and the most superior tracks.

FFVI has Terra's Theme, Celes' Theme, and the Aria, but apart from those truly amazing pieces of music, nothing much in FFVI really struck me as amazing.

For me, FFIX had two really memorable pieces of music - Rose of May (Beatrix's Theme) and You are not alone! The piano versions sound especially epic, despite them not being in the game.

FFX has Suteki da Ne, and Otherworld, but I found most of the background music in the game to not be very memorable, pleasant, but not memorable. I was also disappointed with the lack of character themes in FFX.

Lol, sure I can explain.

I've been playing Final Fantasy XII lately, and I just don't feel the whole... "Okay, battle time" with any major battles. Like how you have the epic boss battle theme on Final Fantasy VII, xD I just thought that theme was so awesome.

Kinda like how you said though, Phoenix, how VII has memorable theme's. I just love Tifa's theme, and thought Aeris theme was nicely done as well. The Highwind scene is something non of the Final Fantasy's can top.

I guess as far as my explanation goes, I think VII's theme just GOES with the game.

Far as my opinion goes, the Victory Theme in XII is shit... o_O *Cough*

Well, again, I will have to go with VII. I just really love the music. A key to enjoying a movie, game, or show, is the music. As everyone probably knows with the many times I have mentioned it, VII is my favorite FF game. The music is a part of that. First of all, I LOVE the intro. It's my favorite song on Final Fantasy. I also like the battle music, and the boss fights. It's really my favorite music of all Final Fantasy games.

for me FF8 but that is mainly because it unlike the other FF's after FF7 keeps a steady action theme going in almost all the tracks all the music has a nice flow

FF7 battle i got bored with really fast but the battle theme in FF8 kept interesting FF9's battle music was boring plain and simple FF10's battle music was annoying and gave me a headache FF10-2 had alright battle music which made up for such an annoying game

best FF music pains me to say this but One winged angel

XII's music is godly. I love the orchestrated feel of some tracks, I get so psyched up by Phon Coasts music, so much so I can imagine myself running down that area and just pummeling anything that gets in my way. Loved a lot of tracks really, and I guess a runner up in the soundtrack department would be X. Battle music = sweeeeet.

Ooh erm, Id have to go with VII, it's the only one Ive actually been sad enough to buy the soundtrack for, far too many outstanding tracks in there, X isnt too far behind though and neither is VIII although I dont recal thinking too much of VIII's music, aside from all the variations of eyes on me which i loved. X's is awesome, I loved the way the game started with that shoty music, but imo, VII just beats it ^^

Im CLEARLY just a FFVII fan bitch

Oh well, at least I can accept it >.>
