I don't think either gender are in a position to say that they go through more mentally, simply because there's no person on earth who's (naturally) gone through living as both a man and a woman.
Now that's not to say that evidence doesn't point to one side or the other, but from a psychological standpoint our brains generally function differently. How can one person possibly have lived both lives? They can't. So how could they possible make an educated decision?
That being said, I don't presume to know the answer to the question. It's my personal belief that both genders have their pros and cons, and that comparing them is nothing less than foolhardy.
