Why do a lot of people hate Kairi?!

Kairi

Did anyone else just completely HATE Kairi in KH1? I mean, hated with a PASSION. I liked the rest of the characters a lot, even if some of their voices were extremely whiny, but Kairi was just... guh! I didn't like her personality, her character design or her voice. I just didn't like her at ALL! I liked the other Princesses of Heart much better >.>

Yeah dislike Kairi alot too.[ Sorry Kairi fans ] but her personality just seems a little bossy around Sora, like when she tells/ forces everybody to pick up the items for the Highwind boatship. And maybe even a little fake. Like she pretends to act flirty around the two young men in the island.

But dislike alot because of the way. Riku gives up his whole entire life and future for her and how does Kairi thank him in return ?- Ignore him and chase after Sora.
Getting abducted and playing the damsel role doesn't help because usually dislike those type of female characters.

Feel sorry for Riku in this game. Which makes the Kairi hate grow I guess..

This to the maximillion.

While Sora's worried about Riku, Kairi's just so nonchalant and is like, "OH HE'LL BE OKAY LOLOL."
Uhm.
wat.
no
wat?
Sorry Kairi fans, but that just killed her for me. I'm not expecting her to fall head over heels in love with Rikuboy, but c'mon... That was a little harsh, amirite?

But I'll admit she gets better in Kingdom Hearts 2. Even... if... xDDD
Uh, but she's still damsel-in-distressy in 2. And not really for a good reason imo.

For me it's a love hate relationship and its not Kairi's fault at all, in fact I'm more annoyed with the fact that SE seem to make the girls 'Damsels in Distress' I think the only ones that have stood out to me as 'tough' are Tifa and Rydia. In KH I guess it'd just be nice for a girl to take a stand seeing as they don't really unless they're part of the organization (Larxene for example ^^) Anyway, I love Kairi and she really did make up for it in KH II when she got a keyblade! Hooraaah! but yeah, the aspects of her being the damsel in distress, so on so forth is just down right annoying T-T

I have no idea, i didn't really like or hate kairi. I just knew that i had to save her so i did. That was about it.

How can anyone hate kairi? she hardly has any lines in KH1 or 2, u cant base all ur hate on that! With no kairi thered be no kingdom hearts and sora and riku would still be on destiny island making sand castles...probly

Kairi wasnt that bad.i mean she totally brushed off riku after he gave his heart to darkness and found her and tried to get her back to normal and*rants on about everything riku did for her*changed my mind....i hate her

I thought her overall character design and lines were cute. I actually liked Kairi as a character, and I was like "Oh freakin Kairi keyblade ftw!" when that happened. I think there's gonna be more to her character role in future KH games.

She didn't do enough, wasn't awesome enough, didn't have enough screen time, and is too much of a damsel in distress, but without much payback (glorious happily ever after) in the end. If she had armor like Aqua, showed an extraordinary amount of intelligence useful in fighting against the Organization (didn't lose her heart in the beginning), and had an active part in the fight, if her story was made just a tad more interesting, then of course I would've loved her.

But alas, that would change the story far too radically and the Kingdom Hearts franchise we know today wouldn't be Kingdom Hearts played by millions of neurotic fans aching for SoRiku and all those weird relationships.

I can't hate the girl if I hardly know anything about her.......

Kairi is the type of character who just doesn't stand out very much, despite being mentioned several times in the game (pretty sure she's Sora's LI). Not too much info on Kairi, really. In fact, I'd actually consider her a faceless bystander in the crowd. I know she's not, but that's the feeling I get when I see her. I just can't feel for the girl and the situations she ends up in due to lack of screen time and development. I don't hate her, and I don't love her 'cause I barely know her character.

again kairi is a princess
it cant be helped

and she is namine's other part well namine is her other part
yaoi reason'??? yaoi is guy on guy so i dont know what u mean

I find this funny because if this is true, then every Princess ever should be a delicate person, and shouldn't be allowed to fight no matter what. Oh, and she can help it. Just because you can't fight doesn't mean you can't learn how to fight. I personally just don't like Kairi, I can't place my finger on what it is, I just don't like her.

If you'd like a list of names of Princess's that are excellent fighters, just let me know. I have a very long list.

Kairi is a cutie-pie o_O I can understand being indifferent towards her, but actually hating her? Boggles me.

Umm... I don't like her, but neither I hate her.
Didn't play KHI and don't know how big her role there.
In KHII she has a very little role, so I don't really know much about her.
She doesn't seem to be a very major character like Sora or Riku, even though she is supposed to be one of the main characters.
Guess there is no reason to hate her and no really reason to like her.

As for Sora/Riku, I don't mind it as long as I get Kairi/Namine :P or something like that.

I don't hate Kairi but sometimes, she does get a bit annoying for me. Or at least during the first game she did, and maybe a little in the second game.

I can't say that I like her either because it's more in between for me. Some days I like her and other days I think she's just annoying. Also, whether or not she is a princess some princess' can actually fight. I'm not saying all of them can but a title doesn't mean anything for the person, it's just that...a title.

I do think it's a little out there the way some people will go on a hater rant because they don't like her, it's a little too much but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some like one character and hate another while it's vice versa. Can't like em all.

She's just childish, I think. Personally she annoys me because she didn't really care about Riku in the first one while Sora was scared for his friend. I don't HATE her, she's my second favourite female <3

I dunno, I kind of disliked her in the first one, partly because she laughed at really unnecessary parts, in KH2 she was pretty Ok

Agreed.
I think she was actually quite annoying in the first Kingdom Hearts;then she matured in the second one a bit more.

I also like her getup better in the second one "/

I think everyone hates her because of her lack of personality, her weird way of showing emotion and how she is "in love" with Sora.

I didn't really like her until the second game. In the first, she was just a total weakling who didn't understand what was going on and took riku and sora's help for granted. But in the second game, she started to stand for herself (e.g when riku gave her the keyblade to fight and she used it) and to apperciate riku and sora more.

I don't think she deserves to be disliked in the first on second one, in fact, had she not even been there Kingdom Hearts would never have taken part considering she has a major role in pretty much all the games, both directly and indirectly. I didn't mind her personallity, on the whole she was quite a brilliant character, she just happened to shadow the main two: Riku and Sora.
